YNDX - (20%) Kremlin backs draft law that limits foreign ownership of tech. Deputy thinks that data is the new oil. Good luck with that. Oil doesn't move with a few keystrokes.

PGE - power shutdown. More impetus for local power generation via solar PV and wind and battery storage. Hard choice to make given the many dead/dying trees in the Sierra foothills from the last two draughts and forecasted winds.

HAIR - merger vote passed as expected based upon current outstanding and sp of 0.4776, proforma market cap is ~163M. EV will be lower because of cash infusion from dilution.
current market caps of Cutera ~380M and Inmode ~720M
Merger approval - based upon current outstanding and sp of 0.4776, proforma market cap is ~163M. EV will be lower because of cash infusion from dilution.

BMWYY/DDAIF/VLKAF - good deals to be had on late model used German luxury cars via Tesla wreckage. Not familiar how fast the car companies adjust their new car leases to account for latest depreciation data - anybody know?

Thx. There is also the opening of more pipelines from Gulf coast to Permian.
csx/unp/cni - Headline reads worse than the way the stocks are behaving, CNI being the worst of the 3. Still not a whole lot below highs.

I probably ingest animal protein on a regular basis. Noticed a small worm in my kale a few days ago.

TSLA/TM - Observations from an LA neighborhood. Journalist covers consumer tech.

You will be surprised at the type of terrain that have these huge bladed turbines. I saw some go up over a few years on Maui and I wondered how they got the posts and blades up to a ridge that only has dirt roads on the hills that zig zag up steeply. The highway access that go past the spot is fairly windy too. I suppose if they can get all the steel and concrete trucks up there to build the foundations then weight is not the issue. The components were massively long.
Thx for looking that up. So coal share lost of -31% since 2008 is pretty close to wind share gain of 37% since 2005.
Must have been much higher in years prior to wind installations starting in 2005. Looks like a lot of the wind is still generated with old tech. New wind systems will be even cheaper and no more need for subsidies or incentives. IMO they get close to 100% in ~10 years (guessimate based upon 14 years of lesser tech) with storage since only half the counties have installations now. On this topic, Grassley is on the right side of the economy.
https://www.iaenvironment.org/webres/File/Iowa%20Wind%20Energy%20Fact%20Sheet.pdf
Speaking of Iowa/Grassley - this makes no sense except to the farm states when NGL's are in surplus and being exported. They should grow something else and it is not energy efficient in the first place.
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2019-10-04/trump-epa-pledges-biofuel-boost-to-calm-corn-state-criticism
PEP - Large Frito Lay plant in central valley CA going all in on renewables. Project includes 78 EV-semis/boxtrucks/forklifts/etc. plus charging infrastructure and PV power generation. Price tag of $31M seems low for all that. Target date year end 2020.
https://electrek.co/2019/10/04/tesla-semi-electric-trucks-replace-diesel-trucks-pepsi/
Iowa is big wind energy producer so it is in their economic interest to promote renewables. And it is cheaper so what's not to like?
Permian and BP - Bloomberg is really piling on today. First link about on location reporting of Permian slowdown. Second link is opinion piece on BP's future direction.

HAIR - merger vote today IMO very high prob of passing due to high insider ownership accompanied by strange price action on stock as if merger will not happen. Running of the stops? In any case, picked up some in anticipation of up vote.
Robert Shiller - regarding the narratives of technology causing unemployment.

PDVSA - IDK how cvx can hold on other than goodwill gesture in the situation described. Chavez and heir have been such disasters on economy, citizens and environment. IMO much less of Venezuela reserves will ever be produced relative to the case without Chavez and heir. No income inequality though, except for the rulers.
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2019-10-03/three-days-in-venezuela-s-oil-belt-show-the-price-of-pillage
HAIR - internal stand alone basecase and upside projections of revenues in amended SEC filing. Somebody must have wanted to see them prior to M&A vote Friday. Putting a marketing team together and taken 2 years to get moving. So merger makes a lot of sense since Venus already has global Neograft sales team.
https://restorationroboticsinc.gcs-web.com/node/7641/html
MDT - They released specs for their Hugo surgical robot last week. I had it on the calendar for this month. Not much buzz about it and one can understand why. Why bother if you are going to make a system that is essentially the same cable operated technology as Intuitive's? There is no path towards automation as there is no possibility for haptics. Google is up next with Verb.

GE - on a roll with Haliade. 2nd project announcement. Equinor in the UK sector North Sea.

TOT - With Algeria objecting to takeover of stake from Anadarko, TOT pays only for Mozambique LNG for now. Not a bad way to end up with what they really wanted in the first place if they can convince OXY to package the Africa oil assets for sale to someone else. Package price will need to be lowered from $4.9B because of Algeria wanting a "tax" or increased share.

UAW/legacy auto - Tough issue to overcome for all US legacy automakers to end ICE car investments starting in 2022. The timeline is getting more compressed.

Waymo - MS revises their valuation guess from $175B to $100B. Still a guess, just a smaller one that is now closer to my guess. MS doesn't seem to know what is happening in SF area when it comes to testing. Some rides in Phoenix are driverless now. All use geofencing and Lidar AFAIK.
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2019-09-27/waymo-valuation-slashed-on-autonomous-vehicle-tech-delays
I don't think they are much influence by PC relative to economics according to the bottom chart in the article. By far the biggest shift they made was towards NG with the BG purchase. Economics will dictate and erosion at the margins will become more and more painful.
RDS - Internal deliberations regarding carbon foot print, capital allocation and whether to take responsibility for customer emissions.

XOM There is the talk, and then there is the action. BP- out of Alaska, RDS out of Canadian heavy oil, XOM out ot Norway. SA wants out of Aramco.
Notice a pattern?

Thx. I must be confusing some recently released HBV results with Enta. Agree on RSV. I thought they are good enough but market reaction was bearish for whatever reason. Perhaps the 305 itching AE's were too loud to be not noticed by longs with some knowledge of patients involved in trial.
Besides that FXR prospect, do you ascribe any value to the pipeline given so so results in RSV and HBV (if recollection serves).
PDVSA/BTC/ETC - PDVSA has been paid in bitcoin and ethereum for oil to avoid sanctions. Looking at charts - News must have leaked a week ago when both started cratering.

WSJ Porsche Taycan/TSLA - review by Dan Neil. He must have test driven and reviewed the model S in the past and IDK what he thought.
In this review, he wrote that Taycan is twice (his subjective scale) the car of Panamera and 5/8's the car of current model S.
https://www.wsj.com/articles/can-porsche-beat-tesla-with-its-new-taycan-ev-11569431047
https://www.wsj.com/news/author/dan-neil
PS. IMO Taycan is priced like it is the best 4 dr in Porsche's line up and it most likely is as far as drive/ride quality (in the front). Backseats will be headroom cramped if you are taller than average based on youtube reviews/test drives.
Too bad about the itching at 2.5mg. The 1 mg doesn't look bad in comparison with OCA if the 12 week itching data doesn't get worse with time. Do you see any value as a combo with molecules from mdgl/vktx or others?
