30 companies and consortia from 12 countries present their technologies for direct lithium extraction to ENAMI
4/23/2024
A total of 30 companies and consortia from 12 countries participated in the global call to present technologies for direct extraction of lithium from brines convened by the National Mining Company (ENAMI) for its High Andean Salt Flats project.
The call for applications for the Request For Information (RFI) stage was opened on February 29, and applications were extended until April 20.
The objective of this call was to learn about the range of technologies available in the market and innovations in the field of direct lithium extraction, supporting the project developed by the state-owned company in the Atacama Region.
By country, the distribution of participating companies or consortia was as follows: 6 from the United States; 4 from China; 3 from Canada and France; 2 each from South Korea, Germany and Israel; 1 each from Japan, Russia, Australia, New Zealand, England, Chile and Great Britain-Australia. Meanwhile, one entity did not authorize the disclosure of the name of its legal personality.
According to the executive vice-president of the state-owned company, Iván Mlynarz, "the large number of companies and consortia participating in this RFI process reveals the high interest that our High Andean Salt Flats project arouses worldwide and the interest in contributing with technological developments with the least possible environmental impact on the territory, as proposed by the National Lithium Strategy defined by the government".
The next step in the process is that ENAMI will form a commission of experts that will recommend five of the thirty companies or consortia that applied for the call, to participate with their technologies in the laboratory tests with brine of the High Andean Salt Flats Project.

A lot said by IBATF the last 2-1/2 years.
I remember when Entec, was pr'd last year that they have an exclussive lic. in the US, where did that go.
IBATF prs plenty that never happeneds..
Most recent was the bankers backing out of the private placement last month. After IBATF delivered a DLE. Makes me wonder how testing is going.
The only DLE company getting contracts has been EnergySource the last 4-years.
Last year you said ibatf was going to move to the TSX and the new ticker is DLE how did that work out?🤥
Sweep under the rug?
I think the people giving you info are playing you...
Wow interesting for sure.
Leveraging this principle, Dr. Hlova’s team developed MELLT. This process involves placing solid spodumene chunks and a solid reactant chemical, such as sodium carbonate (Na2CO3), into a chamber with steel balls. The chamber undergoes various movements, subjecting the materials to rapid and repeated shear and impact forces. This sustained stress ultimately creates high-energy states within the chemicals, triggering reactions that result in water-soluble lithium compounds. These compounds are then extracted using a simple water wash.

The Gyabjeka ore field, also known as Jiajika, is an intriguing geological feature. Let’s explore it further:
Location and Geology:
The Gyabjeka ore field is situated in the Tibetan Plateau, specifically in the Qinghai Province of China.
It is renowned for its polymetallic mineralization, which means it contains multiple valuable metals.
The primary ores found in this field include lead, zinc, copper, and silver.
Mineral Deposits:
The Gyabjeka ore field hosts hydrothermal vein-type deposits. These deposits form when hot, mineral-rich fluids (hydrothermal solutions) circulate through fractures in the Earth’s crust and deposit minerals as they cool.
The ore minerals are often associated with quartz veins and other hydrothermal alteration features.
Economic Significance:
The presence of lead, zinc, copper, and silver makes the Gyabjeka ore field economically significant.
Mining operations in this area contribute to the production of these metals, which are essential for various industries, including construction, electronics, and manufacturing.
Challenges:
The high-altitude location and harsh climate of the Tibetan Plateau pose challenges for mining and exploration activities.
Environmental considerations are crucial to ensure sustainable mining practices.
In summary, the Gyabjeka ore field (Jiajika) represents a fascinating geological resource with valuable mineral deposits. If you have any more questions or need additional information, feel free to ask! 😊

Episode 154 - Emilie Bodoin is the CEO of Pure Lithium
Occidental Petroleum (NYSE:OXY) is thinking about selling part of its operations in Texas’ Permian Basin, which could bring in over $1 billion, according to Reuters.
This sale is part of Occidental’s bigger plan to cut down its massive debt load of $18.5 billion. Occidental is getting help from financial advisors to find a buyer for its assets in the Barilla Draw area. However, there’s no guarantee this sale will go through, and shares fell slightly in today’s trading.
In addition, Occidental’s CEO, Vicki Hollub, shared that a delay in regulatory approval has pushed back the company’s $12 billion deal to buy CrownRock to later this year, which has delayed plans to sell other assets worth about $6 billion. Nevertheless, Occidental is pushing ahead with selling the Barilla Draw assets that cover about 27,500 acres and are currently pumping out roughly 24,400 barrels of oil equivalent each day.
OXY is expected to report earnings on May 7,
