Last call for February COMPX WAGS.....
http://www.investorshub.com/boards/board.asp?board_id=1447
Deadline for February WAGS is tomorrow 8:00 a.m. EST.
Then I'll just have to take it since I don't have to WAG......
Thanks for the setup.
You are far more likely to get a response from Matt if you find a prior post of his and reply to it. Otherwise, your post ends up as just one of many suds in the bubble bath.
For everyone else: if suds are formed by lathering soap, is a single suds a sud? If not, then should it not be "if suds is formed....?"
Hmmmmm....just how did spammy anie get four posts instead of the usual three?
My vote, like I really have one, is to toast the posts or toast her. It is really annoying to even have to scroll past all that carpola -- a true waste of bandwidth.
Yep....I was just thinking how sad it was that this place had gone virtually dead...
you seem to be after me for anything
Bet the devil made him do it.
PS -- it could be that you name is just too close to "mikey."
I did nothing wrong and don't admit to doing anything wrong. I hope Saddam rots in hell, and starfe can also.
Then guess what? You get to rot in Matt hell -- this hell at 3 posts a day.
You, Saddam, and starfe will make a unique Three's Company. It could give getting bombed a whole new meaning.
But wait, starfe ain't here.....oh, well, guess you'll have to suffer Matt Hell all alone.
Knock, knock, anyone home?

Almost dead on!!!!!
Since yesterday's WAG was dead on, "almost" only counts if it ends up being multiple almosts. In any event, it sure beats the heck out of being way off.
Thanks.....

Way too much chatter this early in the morning.
During the trading day, it handles between 25 and 50 such requests every *second*.
At 60 a minute, some might call it a second hand machine....
Edit: and a grub to go with it -- palindrome 20602
You are right: as a lawyer I always look for and usually appreciate ulterior motives.
Now, what made you think I was talking about you in the first place?
Of course, your last post was blatant explanatory jealousy -- your words, not mine.
Could be the most expensive lid ever bought.
"Dude, you're not getting any more Dell dollars."
Oops -- almost said "your not getting...." It would probably be more accurate though.

Nice WAG today AK.....some of these guys are just jealous that you fit so tightly into the spread.....
Chocolate Iced is getting its ass kicked.
Figures since I voted for it. It must be the libertarian donut.
Speaking which, how do you spell glazed? C O P
This one should do it:
http://www.investorshub.com/boards/do_board_survey.asp?board_id=504&Survey_Num=1
Apparently, there is a different link when one has already taken the survey. The link I was providing was to the competed survey page. I should have just copied and pasted from Matt's post rather than doing it the easy way and copying the link from the page I had up.
I am fairly familiar with GPS from flying. Software alone could not give one a GPS moveable map. There has to be a GPS receiver unit to locate and lock onto the GPS satellite signals.
I think what that unit does is plug a GPS receiver into the USB port of the laptop; of course, the software then interprets the signals received and displays them on a moving map. Thus, although the lap top screen is below dash, the antenna will be mounted on the front window or the dash board, probably with a suction cup. This, too, present problems when the car turns away from the satellite and the antenna is blocked by the roof line of the car. Reliability and an unbroken signal will require an externally mounted antenna.
http://www.investorshub.com/boards/board_surveymenu.asp?board_id=504
You should be able to click on the link and then take the survey that appears.
I have no idea why you or anyone else could not open the page containing the survey in the above link -- unless I-Hub's ISP gremlins happened to strike at the moment you were trying to access the survey link.
You can also get to surveys on any thread by going to the thread's main page: just below the I-Box is a link to the threads surveys.
Hope this helps.
Seems like it: it just pooped out again.
Was it just me or was the site down for 30-60 seconds about three minutes (12:12 EST) ago. Was unable to load any page during the 30-60 seconds: tried 4-5 times. Got nothing but, unable to locate.
I wonder why he hasn't wanted outside to eliminate his waste. But he hasn't done so inside, so far as I know right now.
I'd bet he has done it indoors and you have just not found it yet.
If he is to choose to stay here, he will eat indoors and defecate outdoors.
Nice theory, but unlikely to work. I'd strongly suggest a litter box. S/he will relieve himself when he chooses. Your choice is whether it is in a litter box on somewhere else inside.
Good luck....
You KKD discriminator. You ought to make it democratic and include all varieties -- at least those I like best, even though I cannot eat them right now.
Those of us who prefer filled feel slighted and want our own KKD survey, free from intrusion by those who would suggest that other varieties could possibly be best.
PS -- don't you think it is about time that I-Hub's speel chucker recognized KKD as a correctly spelled word.
Que-te (cute) or is it queue-te?
Okay, I'll bite: what is the difference between que and queue?
Just found my answer through Atomica:
QUE stands for: Quantum Undetected Error
They nailed that one.
The larger screen is a GREAT advantage -- especially for these aging eyes. I did not know that there were swing out arms for mounting a lap top in the front seat of a car. That would sure make it more user friendly.
While I am thinking about it, I wonder how this (or any GPS) would work in states that prohibit TV screens in the front seat?
I suspect that few people know that they can go right to a post in single-mode from batch mode by clicking somewhere in the post number box and hitting Enter.
That was what I meant by:
It would also make the same reply functions that are available when viewing each post in regular mode also be available in batch mode without having to individually load the post to which one wanted to reply privately.
You just said it better and more precisely, but I suspect you are right that few realize the affect of placing the cursor in that window and hitting enter.
Is there a way to go from the "Post#" window in batch mode to the single post in a new window rather than exiting the batch mode? That, too, would save having to exit batch mode to reply privately.
How would we be able to counter these attacks if we all had them on ignore? This is an unfair advantage given to the negative side of any discussion. How do you suggest we counter this situation?
By answering it factually and civilly. No more, no less.
Either contrary posts and posters get answered because they contain facts that need answering or they get ignored because they do not. If they contain facts that need answering, then the case for excluding them from a board becomes problematic, at best.
If the same alleged untrue facts gets posted multiple times, over time, it sure seems like it would be pretty easy to simply cut and paste a prior response as well -- or even more simply, just insert a link to the prior response.
Maybe, 98 percent of the believers could ignore the disfavored and one or two or three could be responsible for answering. You folks could even rotate these duties.
Your response sounds like you want a forum to not only just talk to those with only your view but also have a place where anyone from the outside who reads it only sees one side. I suspect that the latter of those wishes, if I have read it correctly, if the fly in the ointment.
PS -- I appreciate the civility in the response.
A neat idea, but who the heck wants to leave their laptop open and running on the front seat? This sounds like a quick way to trash the laptop: a solution worse than the problem: that is, of course, unless it is usable with a mounted PDA.
The "Never Lost" system in Hertz rental cars is very useable and functional. I would not mind having one of those in my car -- or at least in my wife's car -- assuming it did not cost a fortune.
So if we go by the established rules, what do you define as spam.
What I may think is or is not spam is irrelevant. If the Board Chair thinks it is spam, it can be deleted and then reviewed by Matt. Whatever he decides is the end of the story. If the Board Chair does not think it is spam, at least not to the extent of deleting it, then why should anyone else care.
And to suggest filtering is the answer, is an error in judgement on your part.
Is this the way that the EDIG faithful talk about the issues without making things personal? That aside, why do you think it is an error in judgment? Because it is not the favored ego satisfying solution of "winning by exclusion" over someone they dislike that some want?
Sheesh.....no wonder that board seems to be such a mess.
Don't know if this made its way to the wish list que, so figured I'd post it here.
The Mark as Last Read is GREAT in batch mode. It is the best new convenience feature I have seen.
However, in trying to reply to a post viewed in Batch Mode, there is no option for "Private Reply," just Reply.
The extra button in batch mode (Private Reply and Public Reply) would make things take a bit longer to load, but not much. It would also make the same reply functions that are available when viewing each post in regular mode also be available in batch mode without having to individually load the post to which one wanted to reply privately.

If someone is repeatedly posting fabrications and otherwise disrupting a board where people are trying to engage in serious discussion, that detracts from quality, IMO.
And, fwiw, I used BA - but we have about 6 people or so that do what he does to one extreme or another - and not just on RB, but here as well. One of them - austonia - you put in jail yesterday.
Isn't that why Bob created the extensive ignore and filtering capabilities?
http://www.investorshub.com/boards/filters.asp
It sure seems to me that if someone gets under your (in the generic sense) skin that much, the easy solution is to just filter them out. That sure seems to an available solution to those who do not want to hear from those who are not true believers.
It, IMO, sure beats changing the basic format of I-Hub -- that all comments are welcome so long as they are civil. Calling someone a fool is, IMO, a TOU violation because it is a personal attack. But, criticizing a stock that someone else owns, even to the point of ridiculing the stock or the company, is not a personal attack. Those who take it as a comment that they are fools for investing in it, need thicker skin and the maturity to simply consider the source, if they consider it unreliable, and ignore it.
This is not RB and what someone has done on RB or elsewhere should not count for anything here, IMO. If they follow the rules here, they ought to be allowed to post on any thread their membership level allows. If anyone else does not want to read what they have to say -- FILTER THEM OUT. Sure seems easier and a lot less frustrating that all of this.
Matt and Bob: I suspect that if you allow this thread to control and limit its membership, then you will have a lot of folks on a lot of boards clamoring for the same thing. I join Phil in suggesting that it is not a good idea.
P.S. -- I guess I was not done butting in...... <g>
A more generic definition: Anyone who takes the truth and sprinkles it with lies to support THEIR personal agenda.
I don't know you and maybe I should not butt in, but how the heck can that definition be objectively tested and applied? I'd bet that what you think is a "lie" or part of a "personal agenda" is viewed by others as simply the flip side of the coin. I'd also bet that many folks who fit your definition of basher could use that same definition to label all longs as "pumpers."
I guess what I am saying is that a lie is not something someone "believes" to be untrue and just because someone has an opinion someone else believes to be untrue does not mean that their views are motivated by a personal agenda. Come to think of it, are not all longs and shorts, or even those interested, even if not invested, motivated by "personal agendas?"
PS -- I do not know any of the players in the EDIG saga and probably do not want to.
I'm done butting in.......
Troy made an iFub
Yep...except that it should be an IFlub......
Off the top of my head, though, cannot think of anything funnier for "bas boot" than bass boat.
We have had a lot of "special" cats over the years -- at least when I was a kid. When I was in the fifth grade, I found a kitten under the stairwell at school and took it home. Over the next decade plus that cat gave birth to well over 100 kittens -- all of whom got homes. Missy was the homeliest cat I have ever seen -- small and ugly, but very fertile. She lived to be 20 or so before she died.
At its peak, we had 15 or so cats around the house.
One of the second generation, whose name I forget, lost an eye. It got renamed Clops.
One lost a leg and got renamed Crip.
We had one who always thought ear lobes, at least detached ones, were for nursing -- no matter who it was -- She got renamed Sucker.
We had adult cats trying to nurse on momma cats.
We had one whose favorite place was on anyone's shoulders and it aimed for the shoulders whenever it felt like it. If it was on a table, it just jumped straight up. If it was on the floor, it would jump and then claw its way up either your front or back. You could actually call it to your shoulders like a dog. The first time I brought my now wife to the house, she freaked out when this cat launched at her from the back of a sofa. I hollered duck too late but managed to pry it away with only a couple small scratches.
We had very big cats and very small cats. We had cats of every imaginable color and color combination. We had Tom cats and lap cats.
Our very first cat, Clown, (many years before the one above and when we only had one cat) was truly king of the house. This cat used to hang around in the back yard and get dive bombed by the mocking birds. I remember one night when I was about 7 or 8 being awoken by my mother's blood curdling scream and then hearing my father laughing hysterically. Clown had been crying at back door to get in, so my dad got up and let him in. Clown headed straight for my parents bed where he proudly dropped the live, uninjured, baby mocking bird he had captured. As he waited for his praise, my mother screamed and my dad laughed. Seems as though Clown had gotten some measure of revenge on the mocking birds.
Post-Missy my folks finally started getting their cats spayed and neutered, but the quantity and variety sure makes for some memories and good stories.
Nice grub.....
Grow up, get over it, and move away from jail or stay in jail, get taunted, and ridiculed: your choice.
This board was created four months ago and all of a sudden the posting has begun. How'd that happen?
Bob rhetorically asked about a pet thread on the Q & A thread. Churak found it and posted a link to it. Once the link was spammed, er posted, the migration began.
We already have an animal house (Jail) so why not a real pet thread?
I agree with the "I may not get anything else done" sentiment of talking about pets....but, what the heck.
First story -- Shadow, our now deceased half-Shephard half-Balck Lab family member. After he died about five years ago, I did something I swore I'd never do -- had him cremated and he now sits in a box.
We got him from a local animal rescue society in the mid 1980s. He had been seriously abused with a water hose (the one thing he never got over) and had both of his lower front legs broken. He still had the pins in when we took him home. He was still a puppy of under a year and was a real terror.
We got him in the first place because we had recently been burglarized and figured that a dog would be at least some deterrent to a subsequent burglary. Boy, were we wrong. A week before Christmas in 1986, about six months after getting him, some kids broke in again and played with him while they rummaged through and stole all of our Christmas presents.
Things were not starting out well with him. He was a real terror in the back yard of the rent house we were in at the time. Every window screen on the first floor was shredded. I was happy that the lower level finish was brick and not wood.
We tried chaining him to a post in the back yard with long chain when we were gone. He chewed through the chain and, of course, expected praise for his accomplishment. We were amazed. So much for the chain.
He eventually got over the bad puppy habits and became a wonderful dog. Shadow was about three years older than my son, so they became buddies. Despite the leash law, (aren't laws made to be broken?), Shadow became the neighborhood dog. We could always tell whose house our son was at because Shadow would be sitting in the front yard waiting for him to come out. When son went somewhere, Shadow followed.
He would always protect the smaller kids. Anytime an older (bigger) kid began to pick on a smaller, younger kid, Shadow protected. He never bit (or had to bite) anyone. The threat of the big dog was enough. Years later when some folks down the street let their very aggressive Chows run loose, Shadow became the real neighborhood protector.
He never learned a lot of tricks, but understood sit and lay. All had to do was call or whistle and he came-a-run'n regardless of where he was. He was the first and only dog I have ever had who was not a run-off kind of runner. Fortunately, he stayed away from cars.
I'll tell more Shadow stories later. The last year of his life, I did something else I also swore I'd never do: spent thousands of dollars trying to ease his suffering from arthritis and other old age maladies. We had a GREAT vet at the time. We were gone for two weeks and he made house calls without charge every day to check on Shadow, give him injections, and flirt with the younger single female we had housesitting. He offered to do so before knowing about the house sitter.
My son's eyes (and mine too) still well up a bit thinking about Shadow's last days.
