I wish iHub ad min would hurry up with the new Stock board guidelines
agree - looking to buy this service - if my stocks hit
I agree 100%. Mods take over a board post and sticky there agenda and delete any opposing views. What kills me are the blanket lies and there is nothing you can do. When ever you toss you get a copy and paste response from admin
I would like to have a wish list on my account so that I could add stocks I find interesting and may want to purchase at some point.
I wish I was richer -
I wish I was thinner -
I wish I was younger -
I wish I was healthier -
I wish I was better looking -
and most of all ...
I wish I had not bought that last POS penny stock in 2004
I wish all iHub admins would consistently back NOT allowing personal attack posts against anyone, including company CEO's!
Calling someone names is an Attack, period. Posts, even the major Negative ones, can be written without the attacks!

Thank you for the opportunity!
Formatting iHub Posts with HTML Tags
As a long time subscriber to both iHub and to its sister site Silicon Investor (as well as The Motley Fool: TMF) I have a single fixable gripe and I've mentioned it several times here ... but not for several years.
Both SI and TMF accept posts formatted using either upper case or lower case letters (I i, B b, U u, e.g.) enclosed in angle brackets or square brackets.
IHub on the other hand allows only lower case (i, b, u, e.g.) and it's a PITB.
I do all post composition for any board I post to in a text editor and it adds HTML tags semi-automatically (select text to be formatted, and hit a predefined macro icon for Bold, Italic, Underline, etc.). It's a real time saver. It uses all upper case.
Any post for iHub requires reformatting ... swapping lower case for upper case either by hand, or with a global search and replace.
Would iHub consider allowing upper case in addition to lower case? Please.
TIA

Hello everyone. I am new to creating a message board and it would be greatly appreciated if someone could assist me in setting up one. I'm only looking to obtain information on how to create a message board.
Thank you all for your time!

A suggestion for profile page...
As well as posting people marks, maybe posting how many people have the person on Ignore would be a good thing. Might give a good balance to the profile.
An alternative would be to take away one positive people mark for each ignore. Kinda like ebay's positive feedback system.
Just some thoughts, thx.
Walk A [Suppressed Chart Link] In lentinman Shoes
:)
Hi, R:osie
1) I understood what you wrote
2) It has probably been mentioned before (and I'll bet you know it, anyway), but when you turn embedded graphics off, you can click the thingie they give in its place to see the posted stock charts ... and you don't have to suffer through the egomaniacal silliness some folks attach to their signature ... and which I cheerfully do without. (I once went to a poster's profile to see what all the fuss was about ... and decided I'd made a wise decision.)
3) Your solution is better ... It's workable ... It shouldn't be a life-threatening chore to implement it.
4) b-u-t ... it isn't life-threatening the way it is, either.
Maybe, when management gets a break from all the whining about deleted posts and other manifestations of self-pity that permeate the masses, they'll find this somewhere on their list of nice things they'd like to do for the faithful.

Suggestion for Signature of our Profile Page

Loaf:
As Newly said...
"I don't want to put "No" on "Display Embedded Graphics" or, presumably,
I won't be able to view posted stock charts."
I agree completely.
I have Display Embedded Graphics set to ON simply for charts,
however I HATE the signature graphics... I want to be able to "READ" signatures
without having to "SEE" [the] graphics [of the signatures]...
There really should be a way to turn off embedded graphics in signatures ONLY.
Please consider that as soon as possible.
Len
Our Profile page should have available for usage three Signature fields:
- your Alias (NOT preceded by a long thin gray line)
- lines of text (ALWAYS preceded by a long thin gray line)
- images (preceded by a long thin gray line if 'lines of text' are null)
Be able to put: "No" on "Display Signature Graphics"
and "Yes" on "Display Embedded Graphics"

Formatting messages
Thank you, Fred.
I first attempted to format my messages in the Reply window,
and they appeared in the Preview window exactly as I had
formatted them, but after I posted them they had lost all the
formatting. I asked at Zeev's board for help and fishweed
pointed me to "/pre," which I have used now several times - to
format text, not tables as you point out. In my opinion there
should be better instructions and explanations given, and the
format as it appears in the Preview window should be
maintained when the message is posted.
I like to think of it as a "15 minutes to edit a PM too" feature.
A PM PWI safety feature?
I wish there were a "retract PM" feature that let one erase a PM one sent if the other person hasn't read it yet.
"... a nice warm spot to"
BobZ hired me as a watch-dog, really.
I'am a total warm spot for my baby.
BobZ hired me as back-up to above watch-dog.
Using Firefox browser,
a left mouse click on the Keep,
and select create in new tab,
and this allows a simple delete that new tab
versus your easier method for folks needing to complex things.
:o)
Yeah, that's a hassle.
"..flips your page view at the beginning of the "Next 100"
rather than on the Keep'ed post"
Here's a work-around for it:
When you're in the Next 100 mode and you see a post you want to keep, instead of clicking "keep", first put your cursor in the "Post #" box and hit return. That takes you to the post itself. THEN, hit "keep".
After that, just hit the backspace button, and it takes you right back to your nice warm spot in the middle of the the Next 100 page.
"... it doesn't hurt to ask"
Message In Reply To: (re:) The "Next 100" is excellent...
ok,
Just wondering how others experience using "Next 100"
when reading lots of posts you happen upon one you want
to do a Keep on, and thusly so you click it to be done,
and eventhought you knew BobZ's Code'n Logic would do
that Treat, you also knew the Trick of Halloween cometh
and flips your page view at the beginning of the "Next 100"
rather than on the Keep'ed post that now is a lost between
then and the Halloween man of no name on horse of no head.
ok,
Anyone using Mozilla's Firefox web browser experience this?
There is a quick, easy and simple Bob Logic Work-around,
but I don't want to be in the desert on a horse with no name
and feel un-no pain to give a solution look'n for a problem.
Besides Susie, anyone befuddled with this?
extra,
Not sure whats to happen,
but on a porpoise I traveled
to the post this is a reply to,
using "Next 100"
not knowing,
if the same Bob Logic
does that Halloween trick
after satisfying my Reply treat.
Edit... o good grief, gotta do that BACK in Time hoopla.
D:oug
Are you using the text editing features?
When you select REPLY, you are put into a composition box. Just below the box (under Submit Post/Cancel Post/Preview) a few formatting features are listed. To the right of that is a link which will show you some additional features including the codes for pre-formatted text.
Here's an attempt to show how preformatting works:
This stuff is in columns
25 50 75
10 200 30
160 70 80
The editor eats the blank spaces which raises cain with your data. To make it display properly, precede the columnar data with [xxx] and follow it with [/xxx], where "xxx" are the characters "pre".
In other words, lay it out like this:
This stuff is in columns
[xxx]
25 50 75
10 200 30
160 70 80
[/xxx]
but replace the "xxx" with "pre" to get:
This stuff is in columns
25 50 75
10 200 30
160 70 80
When I format text in the compose window it looks the same in the
preview window, but all the formatting is lost when it is posted.
Bob,
I've just found that you (or your crew) fixed the problem of "pre/pre" eating blank lines. It makes posting formatted material much easier, and I appreciate it. Please convey my thanks to the person who fixed it.
Fred
I "second" the motion!
How about changing the default on the search to a subject of public msgs instead of quotes. Most of my searches are in the public msgs area and rarely in the quote area. Most of us have streamers and don't require a quote. This would eliminate the drop down step selection step and save time in doing searches. Thanks for your consideration.
Jim
I usually think of these things when I wish I had them. Then I have to remember 'computer', which I don't particularly like. Yesterday I got the "Do you know how I can type in French?" question. One I could have answered. My response is "Ask your mother." because I know they are both using Wordperfect, and I know the mother uses those options a lot.
Thanks for the lesson.
ergo, The Bob Zumbrunnen on SI gave out a trick that may be used
for Premium Plus members there, or here on IH where Matt treats us
all as equals. (Trick) 7: Enter your search words (leave blank, aka null)
Its limited, but could be helpful at times for a member search
like you asked to do, as follows:
"... to isolate the posts of any specific poster on the board."
I do examples from your mention of: "Imagine I could just isolate Zeev."
Starting Point: From IH's home page, using Advanced Search
Enter into: Investors Hub Advanced Search (Public Messages)
ok,
Use the follow as a template,
1: Select Author criteria (Zeev goes here)
2: Select Recipient criteria (use to help narrow the search, or everyone)
3: Select Board criteria (the specific board you are interested in)
4: Enter Earliest Post Date (leave blank for all dates)
5: Enter Latest Post Date (leave blank for all dates)
6: Select word-handling method (not applicable)
7: Enter your search words (leave this totally blank, aka null)
8: Select Results Display Order (not applicable)
example 1
On the board: Zeev's Turnips Patch-No Politics
Not very helpful here since Zeev's profile page shows you his activity,
and Zeev has lately posted near 100% on this board.
But if Zeev happens to populate his personal turnips equally on about
2 or more boards, then his profile page has them mixed sorted by time,
and then this above method would only list his posts on that specific board,
something as if Zeev's profile page listed his last 50 posts on each board
that he has posted on, as in seperate groups.
example 2
Lets say you are looking for a very old post by Zeev on a board that
he visits very infrequent, like once a year. You have no clue to help
using the board's search feature, and even if you did it most likely
as you mentioned, would have hits with many other posters posts.
ok,
For this example lets do a real one on: The Question and Answer Board
The above method generates the following output.

No it would not. How many people know the number of goto post? Imagine I could just see the stud Matt, nevermind. Imagine I could just isolate Zeev. Would be helpful to many folks.
It'd clutter up the interface more than I like. A bunch more. I'd have to populate a dropdown that could be large, would be rarely used, but would have to be populated whether it was going to get used or not.
But if you've peoplemarked the person and subjectmarked the board, you can use Advanced Search to narrow your search down to that person and board.
You can do it by using advanced search. I just wanted that feature on the board screen because it would be helpful.
ergo,
If you want to see all of the members posts, just click on the person's name.
edit: I read your post again and you want to search a member just for a particular board?
I dunno how to do that.
I'll shut up now.
Glad you are feeling better.
On the board screen right now I can search for words. I can also goto a specific numbered post. I never found this last helpful. What I would like is a member search, in order to isolate the posts of any specific poster on the board.
Hey, I suggested that a year ago. Please, pay more attention to my utterances.

Might be a nice feature in the profile. Show what boards a person moderates and/or assists.
This would help you understand they investment angle the dude/dudette plays
I guess "password" wasn't the most secure password.
Okay, thanks.
That was a private reply to me. Just reposting it because I wouldn't mind seeing it implemented as well.
Is that a non-sequitor?

Feature request, Board managers >>
Hi Mat,
Is there anyway of quickly determining if a member I track also has a board that they manage. It would seem that a member who has good, consistent record with their picks, and takes the time to also manage a board; then confidence in the long term for that stock must be high for them.
I have researched and looked around on members page and see nothing to the effect: Boards Member Manages.
I might be over looking something but, if not, this might be a nice addition.
Thx Matt...keep up the good work.
nitetrak
I remember when Edwarda died. That was very sad and very scary too.
I'm glad you are on the road to recovery.
Thanks, Susie.
I woke up this morning feeling absolutely awful. Meaning roughly a 200% improvement over previous mornings, so I'm finally at the office today after about a 3-week absence.
The doc at the ER told me Friday "Your blood test came back so good it was like 'Why on earth is this guy here?'". Same with the MRI.
They pumped a bunch of saline solution into me via IV (2 liters in an hour with a 1 liter/hour chaser) and I immediately felt a LOT better, felt slightly worse this weekend, then woke up this morning feeling relatively good.
Their hypothesis is that the tonsil infection I had (which steroids and antibiotics cleared up) just took so much out of me that recovery was really slow and might not've been possible without the IV to get me kick-started.
My diet still consists mostly of beef broth, coffee, and lots of water, but I'd say I'm definitely on the mend.
Interestingly, a friend of mine on SI commented that they'd gone through a similar situation earlier last year and it was the mysterious circumstances surrounding the death of a mutual SI friend (Edwarda) that finally prompted them to seek medical attention.
The same was true in my case. I thought of Edwarda and immediately went to the hospital. Glad I did.
Don't expect any heavy-duty work out of me yet, though. I'm doing well to have driven to the office and spent 4 hours deleting spam email and implementing a few new ad campaigns. I don't expect to be capable of even 10% of my normal pace anytime this week.
But am very encouraged that I'm finally capable of *anything*! :)
Feel better soon Bob!
I'm afraid of what Matt may do while you aren't here!!!
LOL.......really, get well!
Bob....I hope you get to feeling better real soon. And know that while you're resting, Matt is running amok fouling up the whole system!!!! I hear he's thinking pink for the mailbox number!!! Hurry back!!!!
