We have never garnered this much commercial interest during any other period of our company’s history.
another of my favorite bits from the open letter indicates much is going on behind the scenes that we will learn about in due time I'm sure
The culmination of all of the company’s progress this year, especially these past few months, has added a significant amount of value to our company, which is evidenced by the increasing number of companies that have, or are expressing interest in engaging and/or collaborating with us. They can sense that we are on the precipice of new and exciting capabilities and have indicated to us their desire to be a part of our groundbreaking technology. We have never garnered this much commercial interest during any other period of our company’s history.

one of my favorite bits from the open letter, near the end
2014 is our technology productization year and we are both confident about our technical edge and our understanding of what are the addressable markets. We intend to show the world an array of working devices in not one, but in a multitude of applications and industries.
Thanks BSmith for your viewpoints
I liked the way the letter closed out, in particular these two blurbs were my personal favorites

I'm believe in them being truthful here, so 2014 should be interesting, I expect pace of developments to continue to accelerate and hopefully the communications to investors will do the same
keeping the faith!
BSmith, could you share any thoughts you have on the open letter recently issued, thanks
Happy Holidays to all!
Gates, I agree the ceo seems to run gig like his own little piggy bank, lol, yeah if he was smart he would try to buy up 9.9% of lightwave under the radar with the proceeds, at these prices he could bank some nice profits, something he has never been able to do through operations
yahoo message board on gig is blowing up, looks like dilution ahead for them, underwritten by the two analysts that put out that "buy" rating on gig a couple weeks ago, guess this was the why behind those "buy" ratings to get the pps up before the sale
and that could bring us back to six's earlier post from Z's open letter
"The culmination of all of the company’s progress this year, especially these past few months, has added a significant amount of value to our company, which is evidenced by the increasing number of companies that have, or are expressing interest in engaging and/or collaborating with us. six, too funny, me and x may sound alike now, but years ago I was questioning the validity of the tech based on the shoestring budget operations, and having been cut off from govt funding, (you can confirm that with Buzzy) then when Turpin came on board I started to believe, and as things have progressed, albeit mostly very slowly, I have grown to believe more and more, and voila, now I sound like x, lol
gotta run, go chop some wood, haha
pitcook, I'll give you partial credit, but the main reason we moved here was because yahoo changed the format of their message board and nobody really liked the changes they had made, especially the change that prevented the posters from SHARING LINKS which is pivotal in the information exchange game of a message board imho
I agree with you x, I think the new guy is not so new, lol, in fact if you keep up with the yahoo lwlg board, for the last year plus the poster named ponzi has been creating his material based on twisting things posted on the Ihub board and often with the word "perkipoo" incorporated in the text
imo, the appearance of the new not so new guy here is a very positive sign as it indicates the mounting fear of this poster that he now feels compelled to work against this company here too
I think the conference call & the open letter were incredibly good news
I think the progress has graduated to a much faster pace and we are in the home stretch making and fine tuning various commercial devices
I think if Lightwave succeeds the new not so new poster knows it means that the dust collectors will forever remain dust collectors, and so the only hope for him is to work against us here hoping somehow to stop this train called Lightwave from arriving at the commercial station
Here's another recent example of a ponzi post attacking Lightwave and what he refers to as "perkipoo"
http://finance.yahoo.com/mbview/threadview/;_ylt=AoMS0j0IhAQvt368knfQZMHeAohG;_ylu=X3oDMTB2NDQ5Z3ZiBHBvcwM0MwRzZWMDTWVkaWFNc2dCb2FyZHNYSFJVbHQ-;_ylg=X3oDMTBhYWM1a2sxBGxhbmcDZW4tVVM-;_ylv=3?&bn=665b67a3-332b-3083-ae68-da98789991fe&tid=1386717611904-b876b9fb-2130-4c35-ab64-51a0ddf4f2aa
welcome perkipoo with open arms, we here at Ihub relish the thought of you posting over 2000 posts here in next 3 years like those of the yahoo lwlg board poster named ponzi, who often uses the "perkipoo" name for the game changing materials of Lightwave
here is a link to a SAMPLE of one of ponzi's recent posts on "perkipoo"
http://finance.yahoo.com/mbview/threadview/;_ylt=AlreKA_W.ZG3sx7EAYBUZCTeAohG;_ylu=X3oDMTB2aWRzMjg1BHBvcwMyNgRzZWMDTWVkaWFNc2dCb2FyZHNYSFJVbHQ-;_ylg=X3oDMTBhYWM1a2sxBGxhbmcDZW4tVVM-;_ylv=3?&bn=665b67a3-332b-3083-ae68-da98789991fe&tid=1386803828697-5b2af4f7-c9ab-4201-b4b0-fa91cf481faa
BTW,
I do believe you are ponzi
I don't believe you ever owned a single share of lightwave
lastly, I and others here look forward to sifting through what I could only expect to be a mounting number of posts here
thanks again for joining us here at Ihub perkipoo!
tkg, the poster "worlds richest" is one of the many id's that post endlessly on the gig yahoo board with much absurdity, inventing everything, holding all patents, etc
Large Scale System Supplier (LSS)
The Company continues to work on meeting the specific parameters laid out after last spring’s test on the LSS’ devices that were coated with one of our materials. Given that we have advanced our own device effort much more effectively during the course of the year, we have decided to improve our own devices to the next level of performance to give us a better position with the LSS. This does not mean we have stopped working with them and in fact, continue to update them on our progress as we proceed. The material enhancements we are making in our devices also serve to satisfy the LSS’s requirements as well.
I think Z did an excellent job on the open letter, I only wish it could have been released last Thursday or even Friday pre-market, but it is what it is, and we got it, thankfully, at about 2pm on a Friday afternoon when the market was all but done trading for the week, oh well, I hope the letter will be read by all those investors who misinterpreted the LSS relationship as being lost cause because nothing could be further from the truth, the device development efforts in-house are accelerating and this will only enhance our ability to better meet the LSS's needs while also giving us a stronger negotiations position

the new headquarters leased for 5 years so looks like they think they will last beyond the Oct 2014 current cash on hand, lol

gates, it doesn't have to be perfect to be tons the best, I'm amazed at all the criticism here at a time when developments are clearly accelerating, and we have working prototype devices on multiple fronts, are they perfect, no, will they ever be perfect, not unless God makes it so, but will they work at levels unparalleled in today's world, yes imho we will get there within the window now defined, 12-18 months, the hurdles now are less than they ever have been imo
keeping the faith!
yup six, as predicted, and glad to see appropriate time given to prepare this document as I believe we are truly at a tipping point in our development history (& that for the good!), and also believe the call was misinterpreted by many here sadly
Ryan-Murray Budget Deal Eliminates Spending Cuts
Congressional budget negotiators have reached a two-year agreement aimed at avoiding a government shutdown on Jan. 15, cutting $23 billion from the federal deficit and stopping the huge sequestration cuts targeting the Pentagon over the next two years.

six, you may be right, maybe they need to get the clearance clarance
Purple, maybe we better keep that info on the QT, or, we could all guess which three government agencies are under the covers with lightwave, or, we could all speculate if there are even more than just the 3 known agencies?
I'd like to know how much Perk has been manufactured in the past five years, and where every drop of it is today.
Something just doesn't pass the smell test. Then there's that Turpin/NSA thing...
why? what are you insinuating?
Walter, I am far more optimistic than that. They are doing the right things.
WOW, thanks Walter, your reply from Terry T in Sept 2013 speaks volumes about where he stands on the future prospects here, somehow I would have guessed that though, lol
Gates, last I heard Terry T was at the ASM and was working on the SLM, correct? Terry was the biggest hook to get me to really believe in the materials development here, he has been working with the company for about 8 years, so if he is no longer involved day to day, I highly doubt it is because he finally saw the light that the materials are crap, I would guess it would be because of actual personal life reasons, and it certainly would not cause me to sell my shares, I do hope he is still with us, at least in an advisory role if not day to day
Gates I hear ya bud, some things can only be left to faith, do you believe or don't you, I always come back to top tier players committing to the developments here to anchor my beliefs, why oh why are these guys hanging around lil ole lightwave who is seemingly deceiving us at each and every turn, lol, well I don't buy that's the case at all, and wild horses won't drag me away now!
keepin the faith!
Gates, I don't think so, I think the financing is in place now through next October (2014) puts us deep in the red zone, if it all pans out the way I expect it will based on all the recent progress notes, financing will not be an issue
notice from the conf call, we DID NOT TAP LPC at the last run over a buck, as the trojan horsers here told us we would be doing, this speaks volumes to me about the confidence of the financing and the timing of future cash needs
I don't really care about insider buying like many here, they have plenty of options already given to them to make them very wealthy
due to some recent perceived calamities (departures of Greenlee, Olsen)(EMP debacle, rejection of offer to acquire another company, NFS grant declined, LSS on hold,Lockheed Martin throwback) much doubt lingers
gates, EMP was suppose to be able to get our materials into a "plug and play" device quickly, but couldn't do it due to incompatibility of their device designs, Tom told us they turned out to be somewhat of a joke sbir shop upon closer look, anyway Tom has already gotten us into a working device with not much delay, Greenlee was a square peg round hole fit, and if I recall he has been contacted by certain poster here and confirmed it had nothing to do with the viability of lightwave that he left, Olsen was a waste of money as obviously there is nothing to sell yet, the NFS grant is a shame as lightwave was a finalist, but as Tom said we were suppose to have had a proto along with the application, and didn't, we have one now so presumably will reapply, LMT imo was the reproducabilty thing, and I think we will see them re-engage in 2014, the rejection of a buyout offer is not uncommon, esp a first offer, that is where negotiation skills come into play, Tom already said he is not done with this and will take other angles to accomplish
honestly, this is the last post I will make defending all this crap that is repeated here over and over at nauseam by the trojan horsers here (not you gates)
gates, back in 2009 presumably there were no problems with TT's modulators, I would guess the problems came later in reproducing them
I agree that would mean they told us about their successes but not their failures
my take is that either 1) they were on such a shoestring budget, always a "going concern" literally getting drips and drabs of money every few months for many years that I hate to say it, but they couldn't afford to lose those early investors by telling them how long it would take to get the materials to acceptable reproducible levels , or 2) they really thought the timetable to commercially acceptable reproducible levels was going to be much shorter than it turned out to be
personally I'm staying the course, I believe they've got the true next gen materials and this will be absurdly huge, the red zone window is 12-18 months, I've been hanging around for 8 years already, so for me that's just another 12% of waiting time, Heck I can do that blindfolded without any news like I did in those early years, but I think the news flow is going to accelerate dramatically in 2014, and I expect there won't even be a need for the annual patch visit in 2014
we'll see
still keeping the faith!
Wise, everybody wants to keep going back to the 2009(?) 100 modulators and to the LMT, etc etc
my take remains the same, the materials apparently were not reproducible at that time so TT I would guess had a good batch, but presumably could not replicate later, I'd guess same thing was problematical with LMT, remember the development efforts back then were funded on a shoestring budget with not the best lab/equip etc (also, wasn't LMT doing the optical limiter thing, and lwlg materials were too fast?)
I think all the pieces are in place now, and as for the LSS being the top priority before and then now being shifted behind internal device developments (and again, Tom did say BOTH had much of the same requirements so I still think the LSS is not really on hold), remember at that time we were not yet focused in internal device development, I don't think we had the proper labs/equip etc once again, and now that has changed, and now we do have working proto device(s)
in any case, I think the 12-18 month design-in window is the red zone, and imo there will only be 1 more visit to the patch before we find out what's really what
jmho
gates, the LSS is not on hold, that is the misinterpretation imo, Tom got a bit cocky in his verbiage saying the internal devices development is now being prioritized ahead of the LSS, but in the same breath he then said the internal needs are mostly the same as the LSS, imo Tom was trying to show how confident they are about recent internal developments that they will be able to drive the LSS relationship better by showing internal device successes
watch for an open letter from Tom clarifying this for us, along with a bullet point recap of all the various progress notes, as well as a summary of future goals and timelines, I am hoping to see one today, we'll see
gates, everybody see things as they see them, personally I am very excited by the progress notes of this conf call, I finally feel like we are progressing developments rather quickly now, and for the first time I feel like the company really is in the red zone, 1st and goal, do or die time, the window is set for next gen industry design-ins now at 12-18 months which means by end of 2014 we should officially know if we have a hero or a zero, I'm in the hero camp still, the talent pool hanging around this technology for peanuts or less would have been long gone if they didn't feel this same way imo
keeping the faith stronger than ever now !
Can I get a straight answer on:
1. Is the material ready for any commercial product yet?
2. If not, what is the process to make it ready? Is it still a trial and error process and obviously no way to predict? If it is a predictable process, how long does it to have it ready?
DLucky
In the Q&A at the 50 minute marker these questions were addressed in some detail imo, I don't think you are going to get them to give us a tweak by tweak dissertation of the synthetic chemistry ongoing, again, which is mainly the same stuff for internal device needs as for LSS needs, at least that was my take from Tom's earlier comments
reds, my time and sales shows trades in the 60 to 69 cents range for 15 minutes beginning about 11 am with about 15k shares traded at 60 cents all in the minute marker 11:02
X, nice job thanks, Wise I think Tom will be following up the call with an open letter as there was quite a lot of ground covered, and apparently some investors misinterpreted the status of the LSS relationship
this was possibly the most positive update ever, you can literally feel the pace of development accelerating now, very exciting time, multiple device protos, handfuls of new provisional patent filings, new device lab, etc
keep the faith
great summary pitcook!
undoubtedly your best post ever!
THANK YOU WISE !!
finally somebody else who "gets it"
inversor, my point remains that nothing has changed with the LSS one iota from the last update, we met certain criteria, and we needed to meet other (undefined) criteria, that is EXACTLY where we stand today based on what Tom said, only now he is saying we'll do that, but we are going to prioritize our internal developments ahead of the LSS, but then in the next breath he said that much of the internal needs are the same as the LSS requirements
again, the reply I got from Steve overnight,
We are putting the call up shortly. I think that you may have misinterpreted what we said. If you recall, the LSS liked our material but had wanted us to achieve certain other parameters which requires synthetic work. We are actually working on that, however we are also working on perfecting our materials for use in our own device structures. Tom made the decision to focus on this effort first before we go back to the LSS with our materials. This way--as he said on the call, we will be dealing from a position of power. Shareholders should be happy about this in my opinion.
Hope this helps.
Upon 2nd listen to the call, I don't think the status of the LSS relationship has changed one iota, Tom basically is saying the LSS is being back burnered by us so as to focus on our internal needs ahead of theirs, then in the next breath he says that much of our needs are the same as those of the LSS
I think Tom got a bit cocky in his verbiage, not realizing how the investors interpret what he said as the death of the LSS relationship, which is not even close to true, imo Tom was trying to show lil ole lightwave directing a bit more of its own future than being a push toy for the big boy LSS
well it backfired, Tom needs to issue an open letter now to,
1) (and most importantly) clarify the relationship status of the LSS
2) bullet-point the progress notes
3) layout the goals and timeline for 2014 (where possible)
when I emailed the company last night regarding the LSS, I got this reply,
We are putting the call up shortly.
Hope this helps.
yup, Tom's little comment on the LSS was not taken as it was meant to be!
still keeping the faith!
Lou Bintz talks to about how lightwave team has completed the development of "material systems", and these entire systems go into device structures and drives the chemistry based on the empirical results of these structures and move forward to improve on the commercialization of each one the multiple devices that we are looking to commercialize
Lou says this is a very strong paradigm , and a way to run a synthetic effort
Lou is extremely pleased with both the chemistry & the interaction of those chemists
Lou also reveals 2 provisional patents being filed, and perhaps 2 or more to follow, based on developments
(note: all from the call at approx the 11 min marker)
roadshow, Z presents to 8 firms already in NY and Boston, and reports the interest level being very good, already some have returned to Z asking for more info
reds, I believe they said they would maintain a lab in Delaware as well
