Steve, really? this would be very good news if true, where are you sourcing this info from management I hope?
"We are currently running additional confirmatory tests at even higher temperatures before coating our best material systems on our proprietary designed, bleached waveguide modulator prototypes. These prototypes are being produced using substrates received in early November from Reynard Corporation as previously announced.
I think what Tom is saying here is that in addition to having the working bleached waveguide protos now, they also have now created even more robust material combinations which will improve existing proto specs, presumption being they can fine tune certain aspects, in this case durability, while not compromising existing specs that they were previously happy with in the earlier protos tested
my expectation is that there will literally be a multitude of protos when all is said and done, and each will accent certain attributes which are desirable for various applications
stayed tuned, this is a very positive development imo, and why Tom has told some how excited he was about recent lab developments
almost more importantly though, we still need the OpSIS chips right?
testing right now and the results are quite exciting
DLucky, glad to hear things are progressing so well
sad to note they plan on staying silent through year-end, arrgghhh
did he say anything about the OpSIS chips being delivered yet?
it was an interesting presentation Rick, um, one (unrelated) thing that I learned here is that having an advanced degree, um, doesn't make you, uh, a great public speaker/presenter
well, this week marks 6 weeks from the last development update pr, if investors here have to wait the whole of 10 weeks like last time, then the next pr would come out on, wait for it... on happy new year's eve, and would hopefully include working protos with specs (?) of the bleached & slot waveguide modulators (per the timeline given)
does anyone know (x?) if the long delayed & much anticipated OpSIS chips have been delivered as yet?
also, once received from OpSIS, does anyone want to guess the time needed to coat and characterize the many variations of materials spoken about, or do you think they have one or two lead compounds at the ready for these protos?
lastly, does anyone have any idea if they have secured a replacement foundry to replicate the OpSIS chips for future development needs?
still, patiently waiting
MaHey, the KIT project used gig lx (lumera) materials and the 112g is really 4x28g, the results were not that impressive imo, here is the full write-up
http://cordis.europa.eu/docs/projects/cnect/9/248609/080/reports/001-SOFID17b20131217FinalReportv20.pdf
in fact, last year gig gave away the majority of the lx (lumera) line to brphotonix, imo this was a clear signal of the real value (or lack thereof) of the lumera material tech
Rick, or others I would be interested in your opinions on these results reported, thanks
I agree six, anybody know if they got the OpSIS chips yet?
It's going to be a great week! Happy Turkey Day to all :)
It would be an even greater feast if investors here had a pr of some positive developments to gobble up, but I'm not expecting one really, heck it's only been about a month, lol, I can't wait for the day when lightwave developments will produce pr's for us on a weekly basis, I still believe that day is coming soon
gobble gobble
hear hear Scope, thanks to Rick for keeping us informed on industry developments that may or may not be direct connects to lightwave, regardless they still are relevant, if you don't want to read them then don't
BINGO, Rick you nailed it here, these knuckleheads want to claim failure and game over doom and gloom, but none of that is true, time will tell who is right in this feud, but I have watched lightwave evolve for almost a decade, and the first handful of years the progress was painfully at a snails pace, it took several years just to get patent protections in place, but all along the way the talent pool has continued to flourish around this improbable water cooler chit chat company operating out of a supposed glove factory (lol), and the pace is ever increasing these past couple of years, and the timing is superior based on industry news flow, I am looking forward to devices with great improvements to today's standard tech, and I strongly believe we will see multiple JV announcements soon
good luck to all
reveals a significant amount of info on several of Darpa's projects in photonics. Gigoptix EO Polymers are compared to lithium niobate
Rick, does this writeup date this claim, or is that irrelevant and lmra/gig/brp materials are forever relegated to such a status?
interesting how this website update materialized so quickly after first being mentioned by Z at the ASM
also interesting that the website update included the disclosure of working with multiple Tier 1's under NDA's
also interesting that the updated website snuck in an updated ASM presentation with some good new info
don't know about you, but I am feeling the ground swell, can't wait for the OpSIS chips characterizations, and for formalized JV's with Tier 1 players
multiple Tier 1s Under NDA and “The Company knows of no other polymer that has been able to demonstrate the combination of thermal stability and high electro-optical activity necessary for advanced applications such as this.”
BOOYAH
I like the updated website, it is much cleaner!
link to Oct 2014 presentation,
http://lightwavelogic.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/Lightwave_October_2014_Presentation.pdf
thanks Rick, I appreciate your efforts as usual, this was a very enlightening presentation well worth anyone interested in this field to register and watch
Rick, have you any knowledge of the other so called start-ups referenced,
Skorpios Technologies (seemed to be at transceiver level development?)
Aurrion
BinOptics
Ranovus
Rockley Photonics
also
with OpSIS's 5 year program funding ended now, there was a listing of other chip foundry operations available, do you have any idea where we will source future chip runs?
lastly, at the ASM it seemed that Z did not reference any companies as being real "competition" for our tech, I wonder if he knows about any of these start-up companies and there tech developments and does not consider them worthy, or simply does not know of them? X, any thoughts here?
wow like 125 posts yesterday, lot of in-fighting on a message board that is normally highly biased to the pump-side
the 10 million raised out of 16 million proposed to raise not that impressive really, how soon will they need another PP?
still would like to know if anyone knows of anything that presents a formidable hurdle to achieving success in a completed feasibility study? this is key now
good luck to all
litedent welcome aboard, I know that our good friends at IBM have been working with Google on multiple projects, so it is not surprising that Lightwave Logic material/device tech may become relevant to them as well, here are a couple of releases of IBM collaborating with Google
I posted not long ago on this one,
http://www.technologyreview.com/news/532161/does-watson-know-the-answer-to-ibms-woes/
and from last year,
http://www-03.ibm.com/press/us/en/pressrelease/41684.wss
would be a great start to the week if Z would put out a pr saying we are partnering with Google & IBM tomorrow
thanks stark, I may pick up some more today
you said, "Details about extending some of the lease options are still an area of concern", can you quantify percent of total in question? tia
no I am not selling, only still buying if it goes lower near term, or if I learn more reason to believe the feasibility study is a slam dunk
wait for what? my question is whether the feasibility study presents any high hurdles or can we all here assume it is a slam dunk?
bernice, I bought some when it tested support at .40 in mid Oct, and consider buying more on todays pr, does anyone know what hurdles the feasibility study may present, or is that a slam dunk?
market not impressed with todays pr so far anyway, is anyone else here disappointed in the numbers released ?
I know there are many shares issued much lower pps sitting on some fat unrealized profits, I hope they don't cash in if technicians try to take this down in the near term
strong support still at .42 should hold, overhead resistance .57 to .59 if this gets some traction on the pr
It is basically back to the private placement pricing that raised 7 million for them in February 2014
POET Technologies Announces $5,000,000 Private Placement
January 30th, 2014
Toronto, ON and Storrs, CT, January 30, 2014 – POET Technologies Inc. (TSX-V: OPL and OTCQX: OPELF) (“POET”) or (the “Company”) announces a non-brokered private placement financing of approximately 7,692,308 Units at a price of C$0.65 per unit for proceeds of up to C$5,000,000. Each unit consists of one common share and one common share purchase warrant. Each warrant allows the holder to acquire one additional common share of POET for a period of 2 years at an exercise price of C$1.00 per share. The private placement was price protected at $0.50 per unit but in light of the recent run-up in the share price, the subscribers have agreed to the increased subscription price. The private placement is conditional upon acceptance by the TSX Venture Exchange. All of the securities issued pursuant to the private placement will be subject to a hold period which expires four months and one day following closing. No commission is payable with respect to this financing which is scheduled to close on February 12, 2014.
The proceeds will be used to fund the Company’s internal and third party development efforts necessary to complete the milestones required to enable the monetization of the POET Technology. The proceeds will also cover general and administrative expenses, and working capital. There are currently 132,676,115 shares issued and outstanding.

Steve, I bought some when it fell below a buck, I guess that an insider was forced to sell a large quantity of shares and that has negatively impacted things further; if you look on a long term chart the pps is getting back closer to its low, the interesting thing to me is, that like lightwave logic, apparently this tech has been under development for an extremely long period of time (10-20 years), and the timing for next gen tech is really heating up in the industry now, that is why I think it is worth a shot, even though I have followed lwlg for many years and admittedly I know much more about their tech than I know about this one
also, the volume is much higher on the Canadian trading of ptk.v and so be it known that this company actually is in play much more than the shadow US poetf volume reflects
Thanks Rick, I appreciate your efforts!
0.468 (usd) is key daily chart support level, below that is strong weekly support at .42 which should hold, super support still around .26 doubt that needs testing
10 mil + pp so far, will this be enough to fully fund the feasibility study?
does anybody know what significant hurdles exist for the feasibility study to be a success?
thanks
X, do you know beyond this final batch of chips from OpSIS where we will source additional runs?
Rick, thanks for that clarification, it helps me better understand how poet tech fits in the overall scheme of things, I guess it is possible that we would partner with them at some point, but probably not very likely
BOOYAH! "annual meeting is now in full bloom and focuses on the development of commercially viable bleached waveguide modulators as an initial step to commercialization. We conservatively estimate this to be $300 million for high-demand applications in the telecom market. "
http://finance.yahoo.com/news/lightwave-logic-prepares-pilot-run-143000669.html
and BTW, I do call this news of substance!
GP strikes!
(also, I think there is more that Tom could share, but I am grateful for today's pr!, and will continue to wait patiently, thanks Z)
what about the IMEC chips? anybody know timetable on those chips, or why they are being delayed as well?
what about the 3rd party plug n play device being used, are there any improvements in materials being used with this device format?
communication is key
we are not the only ones stuck on enduring patience mode, these are quotes from CEO of POETF (poet technologies), they are a competitor developing next gen materials / devices currently too
Geoff is the driving force. He’s the visionary behind all that is POET. He spent over 25 years developing the platform
(25 years, wow, that 3x how long I have been patiently waiting!)
and
I would just say that the type of device, the type of chip, the type of platform that Geoff has created in my opinion, it comes around once every few decades, once every 30, 40, 50 years.
http://www.midasletter.com/midas-letter-financial-radio-podcast/poet-technologies-tsx-vptk-ceo-peter-copetti/
Rick, I believe you think there is room for lightwave logic and poet technologies to both be successful, correct?
Spooks, KCC, I agree with you guys, and I have said recently that it has been over 2 months (10 weeks actually) since the ASM where there was much positive talk about many topics by Tom and BOD members, including multiple JV opportunities in the works, demonstration devices, new material combinations, etc etc
investors are STARVED for information; Tom needs to realize that this is still a story stock, and although investors are not asking him to put out frivolous pr's, that we are asking to be kept informed of any significant progress lightwave is experiencing, and I would expect based on the tone of the ASM that there would have to be something to report to investors by now
if investors got a pr once every 10 weeks that would only be 5 pr's in a whole year!
my patience is forever being tried here, I still believe good things are coming, and as such I am camped out in the patch waiting once again for the GP to deliver some news of substance
Prudent, first support (US) is .46 then stronger support at .41, hopefully these levels hold up
interesting IBM project, does it involve us, probably not now, but hopefully in the future, anyway interesting short video while we wait imo
investors need to know... something, lol, Z, I know you are not in the business of putting out pr's for the sake of putting out pr's, but are we to believe that with all the positive chatter given at the ASM, that there is nothing newsworthy for investors ears now over 2 months later?
I will be in the patch ALL of next week in preparation for the coming of the GP hopefully bringing us the news to forever cement lightwave logic on the investors radar
let's all say BOO!(yah) for the GP's big week ahead
line in sand big bid 0.50 let's see if it holds up
KCC said, "We know the material works, and works in a device...in ambient conditions...for months...with no degradation...come on that is darn impressive compared to two years ago. We are still tweaking and learning more, but that will never stop so were starting with a version 1.0."
from the ASM presentation, this and several other key points were made, looks like IBM is working with us behind the scenes, and Intel (who we will beat per Tom) is most likely the LSS of the past 3+ years
https://viavid.webcasts.com/viewer/event.jsp?ei=1041856
mc67, try this instead, "there is a freight train coming" (the industry) from the 2014 ASM presentation, well worth another listen (you can skip the first 17 mins)
https://viavid.webcasts.com/viewer/event.jsp?ei=1041856
c'mon Z, time to update shareholders on all the exciting things spoke of in this presentation, it has been over 2 months now !!
Advocate, it's better than a double from the last raise done less than a year ago, I'd say they did extremely well considering the early stage of this project, congrats to all
I added shares again today, like what I have seen from IBM's day of photonics
keeping the faith!
Rick, nice find! sounds like lightwave logic speak exactly
2 day low volume rally from support at .40 to .55 was a 38% increase in pps on very uninspiring volume, was it just a snap back or technical bounce?
would be best for them to complete the PP monday or asap, particularly if this looks to attempt to test that recent low
there must be a formula for the PP offering price, I wonder if it gives greater weighting to the more recent days closing prices, or an even weighting to an entire given period, say 30 days or something like that?
