I am trying to wirelessly connect my old Toshiba with printer upstairs then I get the message posted earlier.
If you have any patience left my old Toshiba says MP Drivers:New port could not be created.:0000.
????
Errr thanks I think... Lol
printer and router need to go for drinks
Well I must live in the bizarro world or I am getting seriously senile!
I keep getting an error message that the connection was not successful but I found out that instead of WPA-AES encryption like the old Toshiba the ASUS connection to the router is of the WPA-PSK type.
I was going to backtrack on the installation as I had remembered seeing having the choice between the above. However before doing that ...
Just for fun I decide on a lark to print a page on my ASUS user's manual found on hard drive in ASUS and lo and behold it prints out perfectly WIRELESSLY!!!!!????? wtf????
Thanks finally found it with same source but little bastards aren't recognizing each other!!!!
Trying to to connect computer to printer wireless. I was trying to figure out where the WPS button on the access point was? I found it but the router and printer are not connecting properly.
Router is D-Link DIR815 and printer is a Canon Pxmia 4100G.
Hi!
got it
Thanks router been drinking a lot lately
Had a never before seen message on my desktop this morning on the old Toshiba that I had an IP address conflict. I rebooted and all was well. Other computers on LAN seemed fine. Is this a router issue?
Noticed Windows driver pasckage for Toshiba is 1.5GB. I also have this Pareto Universal Installer that appears wanting to downloaded if I leave computer open overnight (not in sleep mode). I know I need that package but that Pareto that I find nowhere intrigues me.
Installed a new dishwasher today
Thanks
Exploring windows 8 on asus i5
Accidentally found system restore on Win8. Will sleep better tonight!!
Finally got rid of Widgit Toolbar using SpyBot. For some reason the recalcitrant 3 entries that did not allow themselves to be deleted even on reboot were history when I used Administrator status for Spybot. I guess reading tutorial helps. :)

No don,t do that it just never seems worth it in my experience :(
I update malawarebytes on all computers every day and do a scan. Malaware never detected this widgi adware but Spybot did ... anyway updated malawarebytes again and doing a full scan. If widgi shows up I will let you know. Otherwise computer seems to work fine but that may not mean much short term.
Thanks for all your help ... do you like SpyBot?
So sorry it is called Widgi but when I googled it it said it was made by the Spigot Company and the toolbar was called Spigi
spigot and now I remember the third folder where it is still found is in updater. I Googled Spigot toolbar and the company claims it is just adware for tracking spending and surfing habits but some online think it far more nefarious and that they also capture banking data etc ....
nope not there
FireFox and no not in UNINSTALL programs in Win8.
OMG SpyBot had 24 entries for Spigi Toolbar but was not able to remove three of the entries even on reboot. After reboot SpyBot checked again and found nothing but then I could not open Windows 8 till third reboot (scary). Now I did another SpyBot scan and it finds 3 Spigi Toolbar entries. One in a Spigot folder another in a search fold and another in ????. How do I remove it completely and safely.
I had bad experiences before with SpyBot on other computers so I do not know what possessed me to download it again. It is very powerful, itrusive and wacky. I thought I had screwed my computer completely.
Should I do a recovery using SpyBot as registry could be messed up or just try to remove what is left of Spigi?
Any which way I am getting rid of SpyBot as soon as I know the registry is ok.
I have disabled Java on all computers and use Click On when selectively using it for secure sites.
Scary stuff --- I just found Spigi Toolbar on my brand new computer and I suspect it was bundled with the crapware that came with computer. SpyBot is the only one that spotted it. ASC 6 Ultimate ignored it as did Malawarebytes. Spigot company claims it is just adaware but not all agree.
bwabwahaha thanks that felt good!
:)
thanks I am glad I figured it out FINALLY
:)
weeeeeeeeeeeeee!!
Finally got it!!! I am so stooooopid sometimes. All I had to do was select the WPA only option under the 2.4GHZ entry and now I have everything configured to WPA and taking advantage of the dual band router for Playbook, ASUS, iPOD and Toshiba.
I thought the old TOSH was unable to benefit from the WPA encryption but I was horribly wrong!!! It does!!!! So no need for DWA-160 for now!!
Thanks all for encouragement helping me to persevere...
Thanks for a great reply. I like Windows 8 so far but may sing a different tune when it comes time to troubleshoot a problem. I really need to know where system restore is before that happens.
:)
Also on the subject of drivers is it really beneficial and safe to update them regularly?
Still using xp on desktop bought in 1999 --- keeep backing it up on wd book but hd though slow still works fine.
I am considering win7 for old Toshiba but not really sure worth as vista works fine last 6 months after fixing reoccurring get bsod.
Can you see windows start up on external monitor? If so might mean they never repaired your screen properly. Fix it while still under warranty but I wdik
Good pt! I know my 2009 Toshiba does not. Maybe neither does the Playbook nor Asus i5 Ultrabook. I am considering getting a DWA-160 wireless adaptor card for Toshiba
BTW windows 8 is cool and Asus getting better every day.
Still have not figured out the dual band router thing. I have two different SSID and passwords one for each bandwidth the 2.4 ghz and the 5 ghz. 2.4 covers wep and 5.0 covers the wap personal 2. WEP works great but other one not accessible. Playbook recognizes wap but not coinciding password.
Any ideas?
Till the dust settles I will avoid Java. Not installed on new ASUS i5 and disabled in VISTA.
Is Glary Utilities useful or possible to run if you have Advanced System Care Ultimat 6 and Malawarebytes?
Thanks
Is Peer Block worth having on Windows 8?
Anybody here ever goes to Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Croatia and Germany? I am especially interested in cycle tours.
Thanks!
Thanks Asus has since done update
Congrats!!!!
