PP: Barcode on cell phone to internet patent auctioned
Does anyone have any ideas on this?
Barcode To Internet Patents Get Auctioned
Just when you thought the barcode to Internet patent mess couldn't get any messier.
From ARS Technica First live patent auction
What was on the block? The 68 lots included patents on such diverse technologies as flash memory, methods for using a cell phone for reading barcodes and connecting them to web sites, a fat substitue for use in foods, and a system for shooting 3D video.
Identities of the buyers have not been disclosed, and probably won’t be made public.
Many large companies were present to observe or bid at the auction, among them GE, Dupont, Microsoft, and AT&T.
Look for more of this patent auction activity as we see the New American Business Model
Expect more companies to be added to the physical world connection list when appropriate.
If the suitor gets 1billion now. That gives them like 5/8th of the company. What are we using the other 3 billion shares for in this hypotheses.
PS I think I'll see you guys in June.

N E O M are you in Seattle? I was thinking about going and talking with them also.

dd:Microsoft mobile OS lands its biggest deal
We all MSFT knows about Neomedia. We also know that Bill Gates thinks that barcodes on the mobile is a powerful space. We're all freaking out because of downward price pressure on a week we thought we were going to get rich. Just because there was no press release in the opening of CTIA doesn't mean we don't have a major partner who is going to announce it in a speech or something. Here's an article on adoption of MS Mobile.
http://news.com.com/Microsoft+mobile+OS+lands+its+biggest+deal/2100-1014_3-6058025.html?tag=nefd.top
Microsoft has won its biggest contract to date for the use of its Windows Mobile operating system, in a deal with the U.S. Census Bureau.
The agency has signed up for 500,000 smart phones made by handset manufacturer HTC. They will run Windows Mobile 5.0 and be used to take the 2010 census.
It is a high-tech move for the agency. The bureau had previously used paper and pen to take U.S. citizens' details, which were then digitized by data entry staff.

CTIA: Wired on wireless
Mobile operators, handset makers and network gear specialists are rolling out new products and big plans at CTIA Wireless 2006.
The Microsoft contract forms part of a wider $600 million, five-year deal with Harris, a Florida company running the data collection project, that involves the automation of field data collection. The move is aimed at cutting the time, labor costs and errors involved in manual data collection and input.
The deal is not only the largest Microsoft has ever received for mobile devices but also one of the biggest public deals for smart phones in the industry.
Between 2004 and 2005, the Redmond, Wash.-based software giant saw shipments double, from 3 million to 6 million, for devices loaded with its mobile OS. But it remains one of the smallest vendors in the sector by market share. The Symbian operating system is the sector's current heavy-hitter, with more than 60 percent market share, according to figures from research firm Gartner.

Tony Cripps, an analyst at Ovum, said that Symbian likely was beaten to the deal by Microsoft because of a difference in availability. "In America, there are very few Symbian devices on the market capable of doing this job," he said.
"It reinforces the appeal of Windows Mobile in the enterprise," Cripps added. "What this might suggest is that people do want to use their mobile devices for more than e-mail, so enterprises may need to examine their options more closely in the future."
Smart phones are becoming more popular, according to a recent report from ABI Research. The functionality-laden devices will make up 15 percent of all phones sold this year, the report said.
That domain is registered to the parent company of Foote Cone & Belding. I just looked it up and it is registered to the interpublic group.
Chaz Fritz is a huge asset. I post I think about every 4 months but neomedia has changed my financial situation drastically. That being said if its true Chaz was a McKinsey guy that is a huge asset. I know several guys who work for McKinsey and they are always the smartest guys in the room. They work like 80 hour weeks because they can get to Corporate Exec level in like 6 years. Many if not most of the CEO's of majors corps were at one time consultants for McKinsey and likes. Their networking assets are huge. My assessment of his ability to get things done went up multiple powers. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

Question on CC website Promotion
Hi all, I am new to this board and this stock. I heard about it from MartyMac and thought I'd try a little. Bought in at .0093. Anyhow I'm sure I'm the kind of holder you all hate because I haven't done enough dd, but I do have a question. So I went to cc's website the other day and the gameznflix was promoted on their front page of their website. Then not today when I checked. I am just curious if anyone knows how often it will be up on their frontpage?
Thanks,
bigs
Semacode comment from PP
So I was reading the pondering primate article and he was talking about semacode developing a barcode which allows you to embed a url into it. Isn't this essentially what NEOM IP is? Has anyone done any dd on this. Because NEOM is protected based on the way they decode the information embedded in a upc, but I suspect someone could write a different algorith especially if they use a new type of barcode.
I suppose the flip side to that is that they'd have a hard time convincing all the brand managers to switch to it.
Just thought I see if this had been discussed already.
Thanks,
Bigs
Article on Neomedia Hired Consultant for Expansion Options
http://www.gts.marvasolutions.com/
I don't read the board as often as I used to but I wondered if it had been posted that the board of directors had hired a consulting firm to evaluate Paperclick expansion into Canada and France.
Just thought I'd let everyone know. Sorry if it has been posted before.

OT: thanks success. I'm getting really excited.
It was listed as Amazon patent on slashdot.org
Its a tech blog that alot of geeks read.
Anyhow the reason I haven't posted for about 100 days is because there hasn't really been that much for me to post on. I usually read things, but there is so much bickering and childish name calling that I didn't think it was worth it to dive into the fray. Also I'm getting married on sunday so I've been pretty busy. I wish everyone luck. I'm sitting on 120,000 shares. I used to have about double this but I bought a house and paid for a wedding.
Anyhow I'll be in SE Asia for the next 3 weeks but i hope to see big things. Usually all I post on this board is news articles I find. I hope this clears up an suspicion.

Amazon applies for patent similar to Paperclick IP!!!!
Hey I came across this this morning. This sounds strikingly similar to a couple of the neomedia patents. What does everyone see to the ramifications for this.
The link to the patent application is below

The Yahoo/Branson Think Big Contest Announcement
I was wondering if anyone new when the Yahoo Think Big Contest announcement is due and if anyone knows if NEOM entered this contest. Because assuming Richard Branson isn't like Steve Jobs and doesn't hold nasty grudges, then I think NEOM could totally win that competition. Heck it might even be a carrot Branson dangled especially if they were co-marketing his new online music venture or something. Anyhow I was just wondering if NEOM entered I know there was some discussion a while back on the board. Also the entries were due May 20th. So they could announce that anytime.
Thanks,

Has anyone ever emailed TS and gotten a response?
I was thinking today about the whole 19.9% equity position that TS stated and I was wondering what he was making his prediction based off of. In his email right before the huge runup from 28c to current position he said that it was based on the fact that NEOM had taken 10m on its Cornell Agreement so that they could have more negotiating power. Which I don't necessarily contend that this was false, it also could have been used to pay for loyaltypoint patents which were announced after that date, legal fees, and current capital burn. Just my thoughts on it. I was wondering if we emailed TS of Joshua Levine who actually is the editor of the Microcap Newsletter if they would give us some insight into why they made their statement.
Has anyone ever tried to email them? I'm a subscriber to both Microcap and basic so I don't mind sending the email, but I thought I check and get y'all's opinion.

Does anyone know the terms of Symbian License?
I have been thinking about how neomedia in statements references the Symbian license of their technology. So I was trying to figure out if it is embedded in Symbians current OS. I couldn't answer that question, but I think they must not give NEOM very much because Symbian sold 14 million phones last year and neomedia had revenues of less than 400K on sales and licensing. Which means that they would be something like like 3 cents per licence from Symbian. I am sure there has been a post or I am just confused. I think I come across as a newbie which I am of sorts. I understand the ramifications of this technology but I'm not up to date on the business model. I bought in between 6 and 8 cents though so I've been around for awhile. I even bought in close to 5, but was a little freaked out since I wanted to buy an engagement ring in the immediate future of that time. Ok enough of my rambling and I guess I was wrong about the Windows Mobile 5.0. I have been trying to get my hands on a working copy of it. None of the carriers have it. I checked out cingular and verizon. I may ask some of my buddies who work at MS if I can see the new OS. Maybe we'll get lucky.
GLTA,
Brian
Today is the Day
I'm going to stick my neck out and say that today is the day. I believe that at Bill Gates keynote presentation today, he will demonstrate paperclick functionality as a feature of Windows Mobile 5. I would buy more shares but prudence says I need to hold back. So I guess you can take my opinion at what its worth. I'm 22 though and am almost able to retire from oil picks rolled into neomedia.
Long and Excited.

Could someone explain neomedia patents relation to semacodes?
I understand that Neomedia's patents extend to 1D and 2D barcodes as well as RFID and now GPS. But barcodes of some sort are going to be the first big deal. What is stopping microsoft from implementing a system that utilizes semacodes. Appreciate any inight from past discussions.
Still Long,
Bigs
PS tommorrow could be a telling day depending on what features are in Windows Mobile 2005. Gates has his keynote tomorrow.
DD: NEWEST FORTUNE ISSUE HAS SCANBUY Article
I am not fully versed on the whole scanbuy relationship with neomedia but I got FORTUNE magazine issue today and it has an article on the 25 most innovative companies in the country and it featured scanbuys barcode scanning technology. I am curious how this affects neomedia and what all of you think about this.

I think that is a really cool feature and I would like to elaborate on the signigicance I see to it. Amazon is in the process of becoming the webservices company of the internet. I live in Seattle and am in the software industry. I actually interviewed for an internship there a while back.
Anyhow they hope to make it easier for other companies to use these to link to their site. That webservice is what is utilized in the paperclick demos for books although paperclick is a much more flexible platform.
As far as having that included in the OS. Neomedia patents only extend to mobile devices so linking barcodes and RFID to cell phones. So using the web interface in the OS doesn't actually benefit NEOM in the immediate term, but the use of this application gives people exposure to the application and they will probably want to use it on their mobiles.
So there is my two cents. I wouldn't read too much into that feature being there because its in a separate domain but it does show that many people are recognizing the usefulness of the application.
Have a Great Sunday,
Brian
Alexandre, Google Mobile Search vs. Paperclick
in response to my earlier post about google mobile search I agree that using paperclick and barcodes or rfid is superior to searching. But the example of google images for finding out which one. If you had access to the barcode to begin with, there would be no need to use paperclick because you'd already know what the building was.
I think I don't see google or yahoo challenging paperclick, but I do see them being a formidable challenge to word registry. Why pay additional SAIC/NEOM registry fee when you can use already established google marketing.
I suppose on the flip side though is that using NEOM platform content is optimised for mobile. I don't know if google does this yet.
Just my questions. I'm not a trying to be negative or anything, but I want to wrestle with real questions instead of only having the plus side of things posted here. I want NEOM to go to the moon as much as anyone, I just think when people ask valid questions about the competitive marketplace the upsides and downsides should be weighed.
Thank You everyone for all your hard work.
Brian
Paperclick vs Google Wireless and Froogle Wireless
I bet it has probably been addressed but I was curious why someone would use something like activeshopper using paperclick when they can use googles froogle wireless server to give people online prices on their phone.
And does google have to liscence from neom or not?
Thanks,
Brian
Nokia releases new symbian phones with Yahoo Search
Hi all, I'm new to this board. I've been following you for a couple weeks now. I found out about neom from TS letters, and put all my personal savings in at 6-8 cent range. It has pretty much changed my life allowing my fiance and I to buy a house. Anyhow I appreciate all the interesting info people put forth here.
I found the below article this morning and didn't see anyone posting about it:
http://news.com.com/Nokia+makes+more+room+for+Yahoo/2100-1039_3-5684967.html
but anyhow Nokia announced new symbian phones which incorporate yahoo mobile search on them. How do you all see this affecting PaperClick and does the technology come currently incorporated in Symbian phones?
Thanks and Good luck to all. I have to sell a portion of my shares tomorrow to cover escrow costs for my house. Hopefully we'll get news in the morning.
