Hey, did you catch the news out? What do you think?
Me too, I guess. Okay, night. See you.
I'm planning numerous long and decadent vacations this year. I need them.
Someone who can be trusted with a secret? You are old school.
Do you take bribes?
Good to hear. I hope you get a nice vacation out of the trip, too. Doing anything other than the wedding? Not that that isn't enough.
I kinda wish you had too.
YEAH! You'll tell me what he PMs you, right?
You're pooped. I can tell.
You're just tired and sore. Drink, drink.
I did my fair share of physical stuff today, too. Cut up wood for hours. It was fun. No sweat here, either, I'm sorry to report.
How did the furniture moving go today? Oh, and yes! Very all that :)
Sorry to hear it, Lugan. See you soon. Bye.
Perfect! They are immensely enjoyable. I have a few favorite sections. Start with Germany first. It's WONDERFUL!
Yes, that's the flavor. An unripe peach can have that flavor, it has a bite to it. An acidity. I have looked high and low for someone who has that in their tasting notes and much to my dismay, nada. Happy you confirm this observation.
Please buy them. They are more enjoyable than a feature film. Somehow she really succeeded in making these entertaining AND educational. I sat through them the first time with my mouth open, waiting with anticipation for what was going to happen next and hardly retained a damned thing because I wasn't even trying to remember anything. But then, once you get past how cool they are, then you watch to learn :)
Well, I can be meaner than a woman scorned but I didn't mean to insult you if I did. I promise you. Sorry if it came across that way. I can also be pretty clueless as to how what I say might be perceived.
Au contraire yourself! I did not say that. I challenge you to find that I said that! SOME do. Do a search for my post on Whitehaven. I LOVE a good SB.
After seeing the DVDs by Robinson I was like, "Oh yeah! Cat piss!"
:)
Not to me. I think I've only tasted cat pee in the real cheap ones. I really only thought of that after seeing these Jancis Robinson DVDs. You ought to do yourself a favor and get them. I am betting you'd love them.
Well now, now that I know somebody can actually see me, I will say that I always taste peach in Sauvignon Blancs but I never, ever read anybody say that. It's in the finish. Like a somewhat unripe peach taste.
It's about time you answered me. I was starting to think I was in the movie Ghost for crying out loud.
By the way, I love the accordion.
I heard that.
Trying to figure out what I'm tasting. I have the Kim Crawford.
Hi, Lugan. I have to open mine.
I'm going to be late but I'll be here. Maybe 9:30. Sorry.
Another good one I scanned from the paper a long time ago:
A favorite comic:
Everyone has seen this and I'm sure it's been posted here a bunch of times but I just got this again in my email and had a good laugh:
He doesn't like the word "balls"? Strange aversion.
ANOTHER ORIGINAL! She's wonderful. Lots of women imitate Hynde. I hear a lot of her in Fionna Apple sometimes. Pretenders are still cool to the ear.
Oh, well good for YOUUUUUUUUU.
Never seen them.
She is the real deal. No fluff. Just gives it her all. I LOVE HER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Very cool on the bass stuff. I kind of like Claypool better but that's only because I know him better. My favorite Femmes song is Good Feeling. It is one of the most beautiful songs ever!
Jim Jarmusch used to be my favorite director. He's lost something but he's still good. One of my favorite movies of all time is Stanger Than Paradise, one of his earlier films. I also LOVED Dead Man and Mystery Train and liked Down by Law (though I despise Benigni with a passion), Night on Earth and Ghost Dog okay. Coffee and Cigarettes is about the worst piece of garbage I've ever seen in my life and I'll stop there.
Anyway, Murray's act is also wearing thin. He did the same shtick he did in Lost in Translation (which I LOVED). However, I will give this movie a 3.5 out of 5 simply because I also like slow movies. I could gripe but since it held my attention and wasn't common, I enjoyed it more than most. Jarmusch is falling into this overly kitschy, lots of coincidences, heavy handed rut. It's starting to lack imagination and relies too much on the quirkiness of it all - and quirkiness for its own sake is not enough for me. I would like to see a fresh, really insired movie by him. I know he still has it in him. Loved the soundtrack, btw.
Ergo, thank you so VERY much. I LOVED this. Can't wait to see it in the gallery. Anytime you come across something you think will be of interest to me, please pass it on.
Lucinda Williams/Primus
We've had a bunch of DVDs of bands forever that we've never watched. Lucinds Williams - Car Wheels on a Gravel Road - is a gorgeous CD. I'm not really big on Country but Williams is a category unto itself. It's poetic and pure and she's so obviously speaking from experience. She's gentle, vulnerable, not the least bit showy or full of bull or herself. I can feel her humanity. Anyway, we decided to finally watch two DVDs. The first was Lucinda Williams Live in Austin Texas. I'd hate it if everyone did this but she is utterly no nonsense. It's her music she's there for, not to be adored or worshipped. It's all about her music. She stands there and sings in this thrilling voice that is as true and honest as they come. It's clear and strong and feeling and her songs are direct, sensitive and charming. Her band is class incarnate. But my poor husband, I sang the entire time.
Primus: I used to love Primus. Les Claypool, the bass player, is a genius and the music is original. So, we played the DVD Hallucino Genetics/2004 for the first time tonight after owning it for some time and not actually listening to them for many years. For two songs we were in amazement at Claypool. He is as agile a bass player as you will find. He's an original but Primus is clearly not for everyone. They test ones ability to go for an hallucinogenic ride for sure. So, for two songs we were saying things like "He is unbelievable! OMG! His voice is so cool!" By song three my husband asked if I wanted to put on the news. You have to either be high or be in the mood to stretch your limits. Not enough there but better than most of what's out there. It's the real deal. I LOVE them in small doses. Very retro.
Bang Bang: Ben Foster was incredible. I really liked the movie A LOT. It surprised me, how much I liked it. 3.9/5.
Am about to watch Broken Flowers.
Red Eye: Stupid movie. I laughed a lot. 1.5/5
I thought the scene where the Lemurs are introduced, when the Lemur King tells everybody to be quiet, made it all worthwhile for me. He cracked me up!! The rest was kind of ordinary, though.
Finally saw Penguins. I LOVED the entire movie up to the last five to ten minutes. Then, it's like they suddenly ran out of money, said some things that left me going, "huh?" and ran credits. I was left with all these questions suddenly. Extremely frustrating ending. It was like having this wonderful evening with someone, they hop up, say something noncommital like "we will meet again" and run out. I went from loving it (like 4/5) to a bad feeling.
Your link isn't working for me. Is it this?

Raz, I believe you meant this to be public. Will respond when I get back later:
Her lying about the bus driver was the whole point in the movie, I thought. She had seen the transformation of the town as basic people who looked after each other to want to be millionaire litigation greedy backbiting assholes.
She derailed the lawsuit to give the childrens' death some dignity. And when she went to say goodnight to the children in the final scene, which I think was a quasi spritual dream sequence, it was like you can sleep in peace.
She was wearing something different than the baby sitting scene that opened the movie. Maybe I am thinking too much.
Thanks for the tantalizing review of Junebug. :) I will put it in the queue.
Most definitely unrealistic preperation for life. We have both lowered the bar of standards and raised expectations of life so far in this country, it is no wonder there are so many baffled young adults.
So where is that balance.
