I wonder how many bets were placed on the Cubs tonight in Vegas. Probably not many with Tanaka on the mound.
Here's a number 4 on your list for ya. This guy didn't seem to care that he crushed that older lady to catch the foul ball. Good thing it wasn't a baby in a woman's arms.
I don't blame you. I know I would go to some Braves games and if you didn't get out of there within 30 minutes at night you would be asking for trouble. I think you will see stadiums within a mini 6 Flags type park so more revenue can be obtained by the clubs year-round. This will require many acres of land and thus another reason to move to the burbs.
Just my thoughts
The Pirates offered Gregory Polanco a 7 year contract for just under 25 million. I guess he's about to be called up.

That's true, I guess anything is possible.
Atlanta Braves shows the team's proposed new ballpark and mixed-use development design in Cobb County. The stadium is scheduled to open in 2017, replacing Turner Field.
It's hard to believe the Braves are ditching Turner Field so quickly but ticket purchases have gone way down. I think the only reasons they are moving out to the suburbs is because it's a safer area for fans to come to. The other reason is who wants to commute back to the city at night after working there all day? I see this happening with other clubs over time. "If you build it they will come" days are gone in my opinion. There will be exceptions like the Dodgers, Pirates, Red Sox and a few others.
Just my opinion.

I heard that too but I would be surprised since they (M's) have him for next to nothing. They can put him behind Cano for a while and see if that doesn't help Cano's numbers by getting better pitches.
Oh I have those sad stories too. lol I think they have given Miller plenty of chances to come out of his slump, so I wouldn't be surprised if they send him back down for a while. He is a good player but just can't hit the ball in the right spots lately. Getting back to the cards, I used to collect them when I was a kid back in the early 80's but stopped once a teenager. I recently got back into it last year for an investment. You can make good money if you can pick the right players and load up on them. When you can buy hundreds or thousands of a Rookie for .05 each and then turn around and sell them for $2.00 or more a card it's like buying stocks and more fun to watch.
Mariners recalling hot-hitting Nick Franklin from Triple-A
Franklin leads the Pacific Coast League with a .376 batting average and also has seven homers plus as many walks (23) as strikeouts (23) in 30 games for a nifty 1.114 OPS.
Does anyone else invest in Sports cards?
Jonathan Singleton, 1B, Astros
2014: .293/.406/.624, 26 BB, 36 SO (Triple-A Oklahoma City)
Singleton is another rookie that might be able to stay in the Majors once called up. I think he could hit a ton of HRs if he doesn't strike out all the time.
Gregory Polanco, OF, Pirates
2014: .357/.419/.564, 14 BB, 28 SO (Triple-A Indianapolis)
Time for him to join the Pirates in my opinion.
All these rookies I think are ready for the Majors. Sure there are others with even better numbers but I think these guys are ready for the call.
Nick Franklin, IF, Mariners SS
2014: .388/.470/.673, 16 BB, 20 SO (Triple-A Tacoma)
With Brad Miller struggling it may be time to give Franklin another chance.
Joc Pederson, OF, Dodgers
2014: .368/.482/.669, 30 BB, 42 SO (Triple-A Alburquerque)
11 home runs and he’s stolen 10 bases already.
You know the Dodgers are thinking about trading Kemp sometime this season. They need to reduce their huge budget since they aren't winning as many games as they should be.
The Cubs are now 1-8 in games started by Samardzija, despite his 1.62 ERA
Do you think he secretly wishes every day that he will be traded? Another year full of losses.
Rookie Yordano Ventura of the Royals is looking pretty good. He's a starter throwing around 100 mph with a 2.40 ERA, 53 Ks and 16 BBs. I'm glad I bought hundreds of his rookie cards this winter for .05 each.
Julio Franco, 55, to play ball again...
http://espn.go.com/dallas/mlb/story/_/id/10942604/julio-franco-55-play-independent-ball-fort-worth-cats
It was nice seeing Babe Ruth's Daughter at the game today. She and Ruth's grandson sang "take me out to the ballgame" as well as throw the first pitch. She said the "called shot" was real. I guess she would know.
Time for the Cubs to bring up the young guys if they can. Trade off current players or do what they got to do but get those new guys up here. Might as well give them some time to adjust to the Majors since the Cubs continue their losing ways anyway.
I'm not holding my breath for any news from these guys. They seem to keep things very quiet. In my opinion.
He's probably throwing a lot of strikes. I have a feeling he's keeping the fielders busy.
The pitch count is a good idea. I guess each pitcher is different but maybe keeping it around 100-110 per game? It means more strikes and more hits too though. I happened to mention this problem yesterday.
It seems Baseball has a big problem with young pitchers going on the DL. Marlins right-hander Jose Fernandez is likely to be the next to get Tommy John surgery. According to this Yahoo article he will be the 34th in organized baseball to get this done this year, and it's only May! Something has gone very wrong.
Last out to go in the game and Ortiz ruins the no-hitter.
Looks like Yu is going for a no-hitter in the 8th.
I know, he was tearing it up during Spring Training.
The whole lineup is in trouble. I really thought Brad Miller would be a nice addition but so far he can't get out of that slump he's in.
Christian Yelich is sure looking great. I think he will be in the majors a long time.
They should do a movie on Ted Williams. If people think "42" was good Williams' story should be about as good, if not better.
Do you think the Yanks will retire Jeter's number? Is he that good to be up there with the rest of the Yankee greats like Ruth and Mantle?
I will boil it all down to the World Series teams...
Dodgers and the Orioles
Dodgers in 4 games
Hoosiers, and I don't even like basketball much. My second would be Miracle, and I don't like hockey either. Go figure.
I think Jonathan Singleton will surprise people with HRs if he can get the time to play most of the games this year. I will go out on a limb and say 50+. He has never been in this great of shape and he had an awesome winter baseball season. Just thought I would throw his name in there.
Yep you're right but I really think they can turn it around as early as this year. I don't know why but I feel like we are about to have another 1984 season next year (2015). The cubs players weren't all that great except for Sandberg, Smith and Durham and a couple of others but they made things happen that year. The Cubs of 2014 have the best talent potential in years, now they just have to have the desire and heart. Veterans who like to win and lead help that with that problem. The money will come to the Ricketts if the Cubs can get to the playoffs this year. There is a lot of closet Cubs fans in my opinion but no one likes to route for losers. By the way, I've been a Saints fan since the 70's so I think I know what I'm talking about, I could be wrong though.
I was a little surprised by the list. I understand these are "experts" but they didn't have some great prospects that all the other so-called experts do have on their lists. One player I like that seems to be under everyone's radar is Christian Yelich of the Marlins. I think this guy could be another Cal Ripkin kind of hitter. Another player that in my mind doesn't get any respect is Jonathon Singleton of the Astros, maybe it's the suspension, but I think this guy could be a big hitter if he can get it together. At least they had Joc Pederson on their list at 34 though. I see him being an all-star in 2015 if he can get playing time in 2014.
They did go on about the Cubs and all the great prospects they had and how they could be a threat in the next year or two. I agree 100% but they will still need key vets to act as glue to make a solid team. Anyway you look at it the Cubs will be fun to watch. Too bad Harry isn't here to add to the excitement. Go Cubs!
Baseball America's top 50 prospects for 2014 is on MLB network tonight at 9pm Est.
I have a prediction or two of my own. I think the Cubs will do much better than what most people believe. They are a young club that I think will gel nicely starting off with Castro getting back to his 2012 stats, if not better. I also think the Ricketts will be impressed and spend some money for key vets for the 2015 season.
Final prediction: The Cubs will go into the World Series in 2015 after beating the Dodgers in the playoffs!
Ok now you all can laugh.
Oh a Mets fan, I think Dominic Smith will be fun to watch this year. He's one of the best 1B rookies in a long time besides Jonathan Singleton. The Mets should try to get outfielder Joc Pederson from the Dodgers.
I'd like to see Xander Bogaerts get a full year of playing time myself. I hope the Yanks do sign Drew.
I think the Cubs will be in the playoffs in 2015. I believe the Ricketts will finally spend money a year from now and pick up some big names. Just a hunch anyway
