Money and jobs to the area. That is the dream. Will it be a reality? Yeah, low paying jobs and a few end up with the money. Roads are going to be a problem. Roads are a problem now during the summer months.
NYNY - gives me the creeps. Bad for Sullivan County IMO but it looks like gaming is coming there. Its not like it used to be. Monticello is a dump.
I own POOL for some time (nice long term gains). Trying to decide if I should sell now and buy back in Feb or just keep holding (since I seem to be good at holding.)
Thanks Zeev.
Zeev, do you still follow POOL? Its been doing great but now they are venturing into Italy. Don't know if there are a lot of pools in that country. <g> Anyway, I would appreciate any insights you might have on the stock and or company. Thanks.
Sold DNA for just over 10 points at just over 93. I have always been sorry after I sold this stock. Would like to buy back at a discount.
Uggs were the strongest part of their business. Simple and Teva were the laggards of their brands...
AMGN looks perky too, today.
OT, When I hear "the City" I think of NYC, always. From your text I understand San Francisco, but for this former NY'er (originally from upstate) there is only one "The City", despite San Francisco's many charms. Hope you enjoyed your dinner.
Zeev, CRDN getting hit after beating estimates. Is this one still on your radar? Thanks.
"For some time" are my words. The Sacramento radio station I was listening to said up to two weeks, but I don't know if they meant that for Miami or the general area.
What? No baseball?
I'm not Basser, but I heard on the radio about an hour or so ago that Miami is without power and could be for some time to come.
WWW, ok I got it!
Friday Oct 21st to be exact. :)
Isn't options expiration the Sat after the third Friday? If so that makes your Wacky Weds next week, not tomorrow.
Maine, do you love CRIS as much as you used to? If I remember correctly it used to be one of your favs that you had most hope for. Thanks.
Great article, thanks for bring it to the board.
CRDN has been going to town the past two days. I think this was one you used to follow. Any comments or have you dropped it off your screen? Thanks.
Back in April the Mercury News did an article on Cypress and the Solar Power subsidiary. I thought it interesting, but never invested in CY, not knowing if owning CY would be any benefit toward owning the spin off. I see CY is trading near its highs. Any thoughts, or are you waiting until after the spin off?
Impressive trades! Congrats!
OT I had no idear! Thanks for the very interesting tidbit.
OT Sorry no doggies at OCC. I'll keep my eye out for Gus next time I catch the show. :)
OT Not sure who Gus is. About a year and a half ago saw Paul Jr. and his little girl and Paul Sr. out for dinner at a nice Italian Montgomery restaurant. They behaved.
BTW I am originally from that part of the world and a lot of folks up there say "idears". Not sure why....
OT, I stopped at the American Chopper retail store yesterday in Montgomery NY. They had about seven choppers on display.
Thanks, Zeev. I imagine that current holders of SLXP should move up stops? Or is some profit taking in order? Thanks again.
Yes, I see its not a 52-week high. I meant in more recent history on SLXP. :)
I am in CA, but closer to the Lake than the Mountain. Have you climbed Shasta?
Zeev, any thoughts on SLXP? NHBNH?
Thank you for stopping. This is a no-politics board.
Thats a stretch to call my opinion informed. LOL I'd say what CFSB wrote is more informed. They make a reasonable argument. Thanks for sharing.
I share your concern and agree that this is a decision with far reaching ramifications and only serves the "rich". I feel terrible for those people in CT and others that will be impacted in the future. It's not right in my book.
You think Lee is worried about your putz? (Can I say that on this board? Sorry if it offends...)
I was lucky, because the greedy slime that got my credit card number tried to buy over $2,000 of electronics. It got flagged as unusual use and the charges were denied.
Yup, no more paypal no more internet purchases.
I'm with you Newly. I used a credit card for a few purchases on PayPal. It was the only thing I used it for and someone was able to change my address and both names on the card via the internet. I am not sure how they were able to do that, but needless to say I placed a fraud alert on my credit files and will no longer be doing internet purchases.
Cy, I did buy ERF at 33.66 and am still holding. I also hold a little XOM but that is it for my energy plays since I sold my CCJ today. Perhaps I should have held the CCJ, as I originally bought it for a long term position. It seems so strong now too but maybe I can buy it back at a discount.
Thanks for your thoughts.
Like you, I thought shutting down was a bogus move. It seems to be a thing to do in Silly Valley, so not uncommon. Crappy companies and good ones both do it. I know that Aligent had a few shutdowns too, but I don't think they had one yet this year. It my view business is far from booming (except real estate of course!) and most firms are trying to get by.
I wouldn't put too much faith in an old article (yes, I know you are looking for the new one but I don't think it exists). the layoffs are speculation and NVLS already has had quite a few in the past. As for HPQ, not sure what is happening there, but I might see a few folks this weekend. Hopefully I'll remember to ask them how things are going at the shop. :)
I'm not a big fan of either company and I never got the perceived baramoter that NVLS seems to hold for some.
Anyone have thoughts on IBM?
late bloom, you keep talking about layoffs at NVLS and there has been no such announcement. They were closed for the week of Memorial Day, however no layoffs. Where are you getting this information?
OT I agree with you. That said we should not even be talking about this stuff on this board.
OT They should throw people in jail who are careless with fire and cause all that damage to others.
NVLS is shut down next week. Think they will still have their mid Q?
