...Mr. Keonig...
...do you truly believe that OTC is a better place for GTE?...
...I mean, look at some of the publicly-traded companies there...I don't think I would ever trade on the OTC/BB...Duke...
...crashtest, as I've stated many times in the past, I believe Globetel had EVERY intention of honoring their end of the contract, whether they needed to hire additional help, or contract out...
...I DO believe that many here "conveniently" overlook this unfortunate episode in GTE's history...this deal was THE single, most compelling story which put GTE "on the map", imo...unfortunately, for GTE, that map is permanently tarnished ; their fault or not...Duke...
...what many folks here tend to conveniently overlook is the fact that Globetel inadvertantly painted a massive target on their collective back when they announced the Internafta deal...
...a $600M windfall for a micro, micro-cap company with 50 some-odd employees and no history of managing any deals of this magnitude. seemed to good to be true...
...to believe that analysts, pundits, journalists and money managers would simply accept this deal on face value was naive, imo...this was a compelling story to seek out and investigate...was it a "rags to riches" story, or a "pipe dream"?...
...the state of politics in Russia was always my #1 concern, as I posted at Yahoo shortly after the deal was announced (I was short GTE then)...I've ALWAYS believed that Mr. Huff was an honest and decent man with top-notch integrity and compelling ideas...Internafta, on the other hand, was questionable at best, imo...
...very little business passes through Russia without the influence of the Russian mob, I believe...was Internafta EVER on the up and up?...I say : "nyet"...
...the usual suspects here now malign the names "Forbes" and "Elizabeth MacDonald" as they have each and every other person or periodical who has dared to question the viablilty and solvency of this struggling company...
...the lesson that should be learned here, imo, is that when you thrust yourself into the glaring spotlight with an "Internafta-type" deal announcement, then you better be prepared to handle some heat and some tough questions...
...GLT all Y longs...Duke...
...thank you for your reply...Duke...
...Mr. frank, is the board entitiled to an explanation of what violations SAMdashada committed to get himself banned?...Duke...
jfburk, so much to address in your post...
...1) so Joe Investor must have a Mr. Dumas-like resume to have a salient and credible opinion...
...2) missed deadlines by GTE is certainly not a Q2 2006 phenomenon...in addition, you almost lead one to believe that this company is some revenue generating, profit-making machine, a la BSC, XOM or UNH...give me a break...they need some UNH to help them get a blood (cash) infusion...
...3) "quit complaining until you really have something to complain about."...how long have YOU been holding GTE?...tell the board that YOU'VE found nothing to complain about...
...4) and, finally, jf's standard line to anyone he disagrees with or who has something negative to say about GTE : "Tell us why you are really here because it is obvious that you arent going to change my mind or anyone else with any business sense nor apparently are we going to change yours or whoever it is you are working for."...as predictable as another 20% weekly sp loss for GTE...
...5)...many other LONGS HAVE complained recently...perhaps you should clear your "iggy" list...
...IMO, no long should be sitting around idly as this company's SP has been driven into the ground...a lack of management credibility and an apparent inability to execute a coherent business plan will get you to where you currently stand...Duke...
...more specifically, FEDERAL officers...
This section of the United States Code makes it a federal felony to lie to federal agencies, including the FBI, about any "material fact" during any investigation under federal jurisdiction.
18 U.S.C. 1001
(a) Except as otherwise provided in this section, whoever, in any matter within the jurisdiction of the executive, legislative, or judicial branch of the Government of the United States, knowingly and willfully -
(1) falsifies, conceals, or covers up by any trick, scheme, or device a material fact;
(2) makes any materially false, fictitious, or fraudulent statement or representation; or
(3) makes or uses any false writing or document knowing the same to contain any materially false, fictitious, or fraudulent statement or entry; shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than 5 years, or both.
(b) Subsection (a) does not apply to a party to a judicial proceeding, or that party's counsel, for statements, representations, writings or documents submitted by such party or counsel to a judge or magistrate in that proceeding.
(c) With respect to any matter within the jurisdiction of the legislative branch, subsection (a) shall apply only to -
(1) administrative matters, including a claim for payment, a matter related to the procurement of property or services, personnel or employment practices, or support services, or a document required by law, rule, or regulation to be submitted to the Congress or any office or officer within the legislative branch; or
(2) any investigation or review, conducted pursuant to the authority of any committee, subcommittee, commission or office of the Congress, consistent with applicable rules of the House or Senate.
...Duke...
...interesting that posters here such as "danielle", who PORE over these filings, somehow fail to acknowledge the sections which tend to shed a dim light on these transactions, as if they weren't there...
...nice DD, coast...
...siriuslyricher, could you run that "confirmed" tethered-testing NR by us again...
...thanks, Duke...
OK, Mr. frank, have it your way...
...if anyone here truly believes that Mr. Huff has the shareholders' best interests at heart, then I believe that they are fooling themselves...
...just my OPINION!...Duke...
...and, of course, total nonsense...
<<Like Gary said the cost in $$ and time is not practical for GTE>>
...that's funny stuff!...you're a terrific apologist for this company...
...IMHO, Duke...
...Mr. frank, fast on that trigger today, I see...
...ok, I'll TRY to behave...Duke...
...crashtest...
...only ONE conspiracy theory today?...
...Mr. Koenig,
too bad you weren't fortunate enough to be holding some shares on Dec. 30...
...is there a particular reason that you would care to share to the board as to why you sold @$1.50?...did you not believe in the company's prospects at that point, etc?...
...nothing wrong with owning a couple of Toyotas...I have enough money to spare myself, but I commute with an 8-year-old Explorer...
...do you retain any rights at all to the Sanswire / stratellite / stratodyne?...Duke...
...p.s., wasn't taking a "pot shot" at you...did a little DD :
"Goldbeaters skin is made from part of a cows intestine, the outer layer of the caecum to be precise, which is also called blind gut or even the appendix. The outer layers of the blind-gut are carefully stripped off into sheets of around 60 cm in length by 25 cm in width. They are then cleaned of fat by dipping the gut in a mild alkaline solution and scraped with a blunt knife. The cleaned gut is then stretched over a frame. One quite remarkably quality of this material is that separate sheets can be joined or welded when wet by carefully rubbing the overlap of the two sheets. Several layers can be made this way as well, for example, airship gasbags usually consisted of up to seven layers of skin."
..."weird science"...
vkoenig
Mr. Koenig, although you raised my eyebrow with your "six million cow intestines" and "100,000 foot tethers" this past week, it's nice to see you bounce back from the bashing you took last week from some of the regulars here, especially crashtestsuperstar / idv2...
...your "inside" knowledge of and your apparent ability to "think along" with the Sanswire team, along with your anecdotal musings of your encounters with historical, acclaimed and influential figures makes for enjoyable reading...
...I was wondering if you have sold any of your GTE shares yet, and if not, why?...do you have a certain price level that you are looking to attain?...can I assume that you have no restrictions in regard to selling?...
...please keep up the good posts...Duke...
p.s., so they really DID use cow intestines?...unbelievable!...
...a no brainer, IMO...
<<If you think the shareholder value does not reflect the potential of this company, I agree. The fault is not Motley Fool, BONY, LM, etc. for the share value. The current price IMO reflects credibility of management in my opinion. Some may excuse Huff’s repeatedly missed schedules because they are hard and never done before. What this signals for me is leadership that does not understand the difficulty of a task when deadlines are drawn and missed over and over.>>
...yes, that "napkin formula" has worked well for them in the past...Duke...
...also fair enough...
...I must say that if anything about GTE impresses me, it's his ability to deal with so many of you demanding shareholders...it appears that he often takes the time to spend 10, 20, 45 minutes on the phone with some of you...
...I would certainly call that dedication, especially since we are merely "Joe Shareholder's"...
...he is to be recommended...IMO...Duke...
...OK, I see your point...
...because he's out, no PR will be released...fair enough...
...what's the scoop???...
...+31%!!!...
...design, looks like you made the right decision to re-enter yesterday...Duke...
...do we fly today, or cry today???...
...both / and ???
...neither / nor???
...Duke...
...siriuslyricher, thanks for reinforcing the point that I just made in post # 39132...
...one of your fellow posters just capitulated with $140K loss, and here you are with more hearsay and implying others to buy more...
...do not see ONE word urging caution, however...no surprise there...
...what kind of haidrcut do you believe GTE takes on official "delisting" day???...20%, 30%,...more???...
...YOU go buy more...I'm urging CAUTION with potential delisting in the next month...Duke...
...all my OPINION...
...what personal attack???...
...you blamed Seth Jayson this morning for a fellow poster's capitulation...
...AND, you were buying in the past 10 days...your words, not mine...
...nice to see some sober posts here the past couple of days...
...design, although I've never taken such a one stock hit, I know what it feels like to be down a substantial amount...probably most here do, especially those who continually play the pennies...
...cab's statement : ..."but those also that pump the company too much. To believe in a company is one thing, but the company needs to perform and live up to all the expectations it has laid out.", is the type of opinion that is SORELY lacking on this board...
...people such as crashman (still encouraging buying the past 10 days @ $.72 and $.55), ces57, glowbeatle, siriuslyricher and crashtestsuperstar, et al, are not your friends...they see Seth Jayson as the reason for this stock's performance, not GTE's inability to consistently, if at all, deliver...they do not urge caution, but, instead more buying in the face of one of the more dramatic selloffs of any company's stock that I can remember...
...to find NO fault at the hands of GTE's management reveals them to be persons that lack common sense...
...there's always tomorrow, but don't ever let this painful lesson escape you...
...the next time that you see a stock faltering, and see people such as crastestsuperstar supporting 2 or 3 new conspiracy theories each week, then increase your DD...but, by all means, ignore the "crashtestsuperstars" of the MB world...
...Good luck to you, ma'am...Duke...
...how about THIS irony?...
"Space Data plans to test fly a balloon next month over a remote part of North Dakota to demonstrate the technology. The company, which is negotiating with several unidentified cell phone providers, could launch its first commercial balloon as early as next year over west Texas."...
...let's see if "later this month" actually comes before "next month"...
...imagine losing a race with a balloon!!!...
...Mr. frank,
...why is it okay for merlin to imply (without ANY given fact(s)) that GTE is in line to be involved with a major deal, while it is NOT okay for me to challenge / question his implicity in it???...
...do you not see that he is perhaps "encouraging" others to "buy into" his PURE speculation???...
...please do not delete merlin's post...but, also, please do not delete mine...thank you, Duke...
...glow beatle...keep convincing your self about those columnists ablity to take this stock down...
...that fall from $4.34 on December 14, 2005 to today's $.64 is perhaps only less stunning when compared to the collapse from that $4.34 to a measly $2.01 on December 30, 2005, a mere eleven (11) trading days later...
...please supply the board with the dates of all of the Jayson / Byron vs. GTE articles during that two week period, so that we can chart the corresponding decline in share price...
...when are you guys going to get it???...the decline in GTE's share price was ongoing, and merely interrupted by the Internafta deal that never was...
...like it or not, the investors / traders that brought this stock to $4.00 in early January, were in it for the Internafta deal...Duke...
...man, you guys are all over the place tonight...
...no "bashers" needed here...IMO!!!...Duke...
"All truth about GTE passes through three stages : First, the PUMPER stage. Second, the BASHER stage. Third, the REALITY stage". - The Duke...
...with sincere apologies to Danielle and Arthur Schopenhauer...
...dfmantx, until you are appointed head of the rules committee, may I suggest that you abide by , and allow others to do the same, the current rules in place, which appear to be fair to both sides...

...'tho I don't believe we'll see one...
...you thought THAT was "fuzzy math"???...
"That is kind of the point - if VPN doesn't want to go ahead, we don't lose. If they decide..."
...huh???...the network is going to build itself for free???...
...why doesn't GTE have their attorneys file lawsuits for slander / defamation???...
...certainly authors such as Jayson leave enough evidence to litigate...
...thanks, simple answer appreciated!...
...nerd, so, use by, say, the Defense Dept. would be nearer than use for commercial communications???...
...please explain to an uninformed person why that would be...TIA...
...a question for all you loyal long-term shareholders / DDers:
...what would be the EARLIEST that a working strat would be in use?...I assume that we are looking a several years?...have any time frames ever been discussed?...I understand that GTE is ahead of its competitors, but what does this translate into as far as a time frame?...
...opinions please...
...OK, let's dialogue about GTE!...
...Mr. burk, please click on my ID and find a post where I have bashed...my opinions have remained consistent...
...to wit :
...Mr. Huff is an honorable man with tremendous vision whose leadership abilities I question...I would like to see him moved to another position in the company where he can concentrate SOLELY on this "vision"!...I believe GTE, AND its shareholders would be in better shape if this occurred...
...saw many positive "things" in the 10Q...
...keep those around him, but reposition Mr. Huff...all my opinion!...Duke...
...thanks, orlander, for an objective reply...
...unfortunately, Mr. Huff, as CEO, HAS to take the full responsibility, because he IS the BOSS!...
...I do like the people who he has surrounded himself with, and believe that the future COULD be tremendous...
...how about that position for me???...
thank you, Mr. frank for your fairness...
...I am NOT a "paid basher"...I think that you realize this...Duke...
...to all you longs, I wish you well...I hope to be "in GTE" when it finally takes off...
...I believe we will see a significant haircut (hence, buying opportunity) at delisting...I hope that Mr. Huff's "visions" help make us all rich...Duke...
OK, let us stick to the topic at hand : GTE...
...I am not a "businessman" in the sense of "running" a business, so my experience would NOT match those here...
...why my opinion cannot be given, or is considered somehow malicious, is frightening...
...IMO, Mr. Huff should have negotiated a downpayment from Internafta before announcing the deal...also, I do not believe that he did his DD re : Internafta itself...
...in addition, a default penalty agreement should have been signed...this may have had Internafta thinking twice before "agreeing" to the deal, which I believe that they (Internafta) never had an intention of completing...
...my feeling re : Mr. Huff had always been that I believe that he is completely "above board", with tremendous vision, work ethic and integrity...I simply feel that he is overmatched as CEO...this is my OPINION...and no one can take that away from me...
orlander, if you handled the Internafta deal as Mr. Huff did, would you, in your current position, STILL be IN that position?...
...that "deal" was a red flag to me as far as Mr. Huff's abilities...why this opinion is not acceptable by you and others here, I cannot understand...
...I hope that you have a position available for me when I retire...TIA, Duke...
