Heard a discussion last night where history guy brought up point that there were way more recessions under Reps' Pres than under Dems in 20th C.
Oh it was top guy at YES Network. One of few CEO Dem supporters, on a CNBC interview I think.
He took LT look at market. Surprised how Rep Wall St is in face of such a stat.
Conclusion was that what is good for CEOs isn't good for consumers and vice versa. CEOs want several weak economies to shake up workers and keep costs low, yet employed buyers buying.

Yeah ITDJ sure trades funny! Guess it will run when it runs, lol
Some old timers are getting shelled in bad way. I've seen strange price action past 6 months. Where things that used to go below $1 in '90s would spring right back up to $2-3
Now they just hang there or collapse.
BCON, now IIP VRA GOAM etc.
There's just been rotation out & none in. Holders get bored as hell, trail out..so thing just declines of its own weight.
Spikes up .10 met by double downs getting 'even'.
I once rode IIP as INAP to 0.18/0.15 from .75 after was 1.25
but the base took like 6 months to overcome sellers at 0.30
Traded fast 0.15 moves back on NSC. Amex is dif. Has long bases like in AAC but runs up are faster.
I'm thinking MMs kicking these hard to form a bounce base in hopes of generating trading comm$ and retail action.

This agreement marks ISD's first move into this very large and attractive European market. Could well be. Followed this for long while and this is the key it appears to fire it up. The long delay (s) over all the FDA unusual actions seemed to always surpress ADSX/DOC along the line.
It would surge then drop each time some FDA 'setback' came along. Shareholders or institutes dragged heels wondering

ADSX gets FDA letter at last
Applied Digital Updates Shareholders on the Status of the 510-K- Application for the Medical Use of Verichip
DELRAY BEACH, Fla. & SO. ST. PAUL, Minn., Jul 27, 2004 (BUSINESS WIRE) --
Applied Digital (ADSX)
As expected, the FDA has issued a letter indicating that there is no substantially equivalent device and, accordingly, a "de novo" application will immediately be filed.
Applied Digital (ADSX), a provider of innovative security products, announced today that Digital Angel Corporation (DOC) has received notice from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) stating that there is no substantially equivalent device to VeriChip currently being marketed. Accordingly, the Company will immediately file a "de novo" application for VeriChip's medical uses. Statutory guidelines provide up to 60 days for the de novo review process. Digital Angel is the manufacturer of VeriChip and has licensed the technology to VeriChip Corporation, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Applied Digital, for human applications.
"We are pleased that the FDA has issued this ruling," said Scott R. Silverman, Applied Digital's Chairman and CEO. "While we certainly would have preferred this to happen sooner, we are pleased that the FDA has made this determination. This assures the Company that the FDA will determine, in a relatively short period of time, whether we can introduce the VeriChip to the health care market in the United States. As we expected this outcome, we have already prepared our de novo application and will file it immediately."
As previously disclosed, the FDA response is the long-expected result of the Companies' 510 (K) application for the medical application of VeriChip, originally filed in October 2003.
VeriChip is the world's first implantable microchip designed for human use. Digital Angel Corporation filed the 510(K) application with the FDA in October 2003 on behalf of VeriChip seeking the agency's approval to market VeriChip's healthcare information applications in the United States.
Commenting of this expected pathway, Kevin McGrath, CEO of Digital Angel Corporation stated, "We have been preparing for this day for many months. We look forward to working with the FDA to expedite its decision-making process."
Commenting on the medical application of VeriChip, Kevin Wiley, CEO of VeriChip Corporation, stated, "We continue to market and sell VeriChip internationally primarily for the security application. As evidenced by the recent chipping of Mexico's Attorney General and his staff, the VeriChip technology provides first-of-a-kind tamper-proof and secure applications. These applications can also occur with medical records and medical device information. We look forward to the de novo process and the ultimate conclusion of the regulatory process."
About the size of a grain of rice, VeriChip is a subdermal radio frequency (RFID) microchip. Once inserted under the skin in a brief outpatient procedure, the human eye cannot see VeriChip. Each VeriChip contains a unique verification number that is captured by briefly passing a proprietary scanner over the chipping site.
In addition to healthcare applications, VeriChip can be used in a variety of security, financial and emergency identification applications. The healthcare application is the only one subject to FDA clearance.
About VeriChip(TM)
VeriChip is a subdermal, radio frequency identification (RFID) device that can be used in a variety of security, financial, emergency identification and other applications. About the size of a grain of rice, each VeriChip product contains a unique verification number that is captured by briefly passing a proprietary scanner over the VeriChip. The standard location of the microchip is in the triceps area between the elbow and the shoulder of the right arm. The brief outpatient "chipping" procedure lasts just a few minutes and involves only local anesthetic followed by quick, painless insertion of the VeriChip. Once inserted just under the skin, the VeriChip is inconspicuous to the naked eye. A small amount of radio frequency energy passes from the scanner energizing the dormant VeriChip, which then emits a radio frequency signal transmitting the verification number. In October 2002, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) ruled that VeriChip is not a regulated device with regard to its security, financial, personal identification/safety applications but that VeriChip's healthcare information applications are regulated by the FDA. VeriChip Corporation is a wholly owned subsidiary of Applied Digital.

Martha the Musical lol
NYT Martha Won't Sing
After being sentenced to prison for lying to federal investigators about her sale of ImClone Systems stock, Martha Stewart faces another punishment: two hours of song and dance about her effect on women.
"Martha & Me: A Musical" is scheduled to run for six nights at the New York International Fringe Festival next month in Lower Manhattan. Robert Rokiki, who cooked up the show's lyrics and music, said it would explore Ms. Stewart's life without having her as a character. "We didn't want to slander her and have a show full of Martha-bashing," he explained, "so we created a foil: Betsey Parsait, an obsessed fan."
Ms. Stewart's trial looms over Betsey as she tries to prepare the perfect Thanksgiving dinner, which ends with her lamenting, "Martha, where are you now?" Adam Levi, the musical's director, said the song had been written before Ms. Stewart was sentenced and did not refer to prison. "But," he added, "it could be read into that at this point." Eric Dash
MARTHA EPILOGUE Almost unnoticed in the hubbub of Martha Stewart's sentencing was news that someone tangentially related to her case, Brian A. Markison, had gotten a new job: running King Pharmaceuticals, which is under investigation on suspicion of overcharging Medicaid. He was hired on July 16, the same day that Ms. Stewart was sentenced to prison.
Mr. Markison previously worked for Bristol-Myers Squibb, and in late 2001 told Harlan Waksal, then ImClone's medical director, that regulators were almost certain to refuse to approve an important drug, court records show. Mr. Waksal told his brother, Samuel D. Waksal, then ImClone's chief, who tried to sell his shares before the news got out.
Ms. Stewart was convicted of lying to officials investigating whether she had got a tip from a broker she and Samuel Waksal shared. Mark A. Stein

Chicago Merc cattle futures trader fined a 37th time (CME) By Kate Gibson
CHICAGO (CBS.MW) -- In disciplinary actions effective Monday, the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) fined three floor traders $25,000 each, with two of three getting suspended from the floor for five to 10 business days. Frank Ferrarese was disciplined for two pre-arranged eurodollar futures trades, James Yadgir was disciplined for failing to complete order cards from the cattle futures pit, and Alan Freeman engaged in uncommercial conduct in the pork belly futures pit, the CME said. Freeman was diciplined once in the past, while Yadgir has faced exchange regulatory action 36 times before, paying $141,500 in fines since mid-1993, according to the National Futures Association. The exchange said it does take repeat offenses into account. "Everything is taken on a case-by-case basis," said CME spokesman Alan Schoenberg.

HP is Home. I've read and thought that once a parrword has been created, Admin password can never get turned back 'off'.
Meaning there was no Admin password out of the HP box of
pre-installed XP Home. Great.
But I managed to get talked into creating one. It can be changed of course. But now can it be reversed back to where
there is no password ever?
She likes it to stop at Welcome page and click on the Username

bang bang billy - have a fun one
rem Faster, Pussycat Kill! Kill!
got the t-shirt someone's review says it all
It's not a huge surprise people consider Russ Meyer as one of the biggest legends in the field of campy low-budget cult b-movies. "Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!" is perhaps his most famous work and even though it's actually one of his better flicks it's still totally terrible, dumb and senseless motion picture in every possible way you can think of. Nevertheless there's lots of people who happen to like really bad movies and this one is so damn bad you simply can't help of loving it. One way to watch "Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!" is just to explore the most idiotic lines from the extremely ridiculous dialogue. There's lots of good ones like:
-Someone mentioned my figure? -In that outfit, what's to mention?
-You got a weird sense of humor. -Try again, I get funnier.
-What do we drink to? -Oh, let's drink to trains. They're big, fast and strong and they make a lot of noise.
-You're a very sick girl. -I was healthy enough a half hour ago, or do people look different to you when they're not horizontal?
I guess the title says it all. Starting from the amusing foreword film includes foolish story with three devilish females, clumsy screenplay, horrible acting, speeding, lots of wrestling, fighting and couple of well-developed breasts. In the nutshell: cheap mixture of sex and violence in the way of the 60's. If you want to find out what a real, old legendary exploitation trash looks like, watch "Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!" and you'll know everything important about the genre. By the way, theme song was kind of catchy...

Americana Publishing, Inc. Chairman & CEO Addresses Shareholder Concerns Over Current Market Cap
Friday July 23, 8:30 am ET
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M., July 23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Americana Publishing, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: APBH - News) Chairman & CEO, George Lovato said he has received a number of telephone calls and emails from shareholders expressing concern over the Company's current market cap. Lovato said he is also astonished by the market cap, especially in light of recent positive developments and the value of various assets of the Company.
"It's clear to anyone who has been following Americana Publishing that we have made tremendous strides over the past six months," said Lovato. "Its particularly obvious that our current market cap does not reflect what management feels is the true worth of our Company when you take into account the value of our major assets, including our audio masters, duplication operation, Coreflix(TM) DVD rental subsidiary and our inventories."
Additionally, Lovato said that within the past 30 days alone the Company has announced the following positive news:
-- The Company anticipates 2nd quarter revenues to be in the $350,000
range, a 15 percent increase over the previous quarter.
-- Announced the Company will produce a record number of books on tape in
2004.
-- Said it was expanding its Coreflix(TM) subscriber base through an
aggressive marketing campaign.
-- Announced it expected a marked increase in mass-market sales.
-- Sold off excess inventories.
"The under-valued market cap is especially disturbing when everyone in our Company is working so hard to make every aspect of our business a success," Lovato said. "We're focusing on the fundamentals and this has been demonstrated by producing earnings in the first quarter, growth in second quarter with sound, long-range potential.
"I want our loyal shareholders to know that we are concerned with the current market cap and that we will take whatever steps possible to help improve this situation. I also want our shareholders to know that they can contact me via phone or email with any questions or concerns they may have."
Lovato can be contacted by email at george@americanabooks.com.

TOKYO (Reuters) - A decision on whether to deport former world chess champion Bobby Fischer -- wanted in the United States for defying a ban by playing a match in Yugoslavia in 1992 -- will take more time, a Japanese immigration official said on Friday, one week after Fischer was taken into custody in Tokyo.
Fischer was detained at Tokyo's Narita airport last week when he tried to leave for the Philippines on an invalid passport.
A friend, Miyoko Watai of the Japan Chess Association, has said that Fischer, 61, was appealing the move to deport him and seeking help from lawyers in a bid to obtain political asylum in a third country.
"I think it will take a bit more time," said the Japanese immigration official when asked whether a decision had been made.
He declined to comment on the exact status of Fischer's case. But he said that in principle an appeal could be a two-stage process in which an initial verbal appeal, if rejected, could be followed by a complaint to Japan's justice minister.
Fischer, one of the great eccentrics of the chess world, has been wanted for arrest by the United States since 1992 when he played a match against old rival Boris Spassky -- and won -- in Yugoslavia despite U.S. economic sanctions.
Fischer first won the world chess title in 1972 by beating Spassky, of the Soviet Union, a victory seen as something of a Cold War propaganda coup for the United States.
The so-called "Match of the Century" took place in Reykjavik, Iceland, and made Fischer a celebrity in the United States.
In 1975 Fischer lost his title after his conditions for a match against Anatoly Karpov, also of the Soviet Union, were rejected by chess officials. Karpov became champion by default.
Fischer disappeared until the 1992 match against Spassky, whom he again defeated, taking about $3 million in prize money.
He then disappeared again, resurfacing after the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks on the United States to give an interview to Philippines radio praising the strikes. Fischer, whose mother was Jewish, has also stirred controversy with anti-Semitic remarks.

StockPatrol hard on for CMKX
9:08 am Now the fun begins.
7/23/04 - 500B Shares But Who Will Distribute Them, Asks StockPatrol.com
Jul 23, 2004 (financialwire.net via COMTEX) -- (FinancialWire) Buyers and sellers of CMKM Diamonds, Inc. (OTC: CMKX) stock may be beginning to wonder who will be delivering their shares, according to Stock Patrol (http://www.stockpatrol.com), which partners with Investrend Information's (http://www.investrendinformation.com) Investor Resource Center.
StockPatrol had already identified the company as the all-time champion in terms of authorized shares, and said it may be on the road to becoming the first trillion share company.
StockPatrol.com stated:
At 9:56 pm on June 29, 2004, CMKM announced that it had engaged a new transfer agent, Pacific Stock Transfer Company of Las Vegas, Nevada.
At the time, the Company said that it was "looking forward to working with [Pacific Stock Transfer and] confident that Pacific Stock Transfer will process transactions in the Company's stock accurately and quickly.
On July 2, 2004, StockPatrol.com contacted Pacific Stock Transfer seeking to learn just how many of CMKM's 500 billion authorized shares had been issued. We were told to call back on July 6th, when the appropriate party would be available. When we called again on July 6th we were advised instead that Pacific Stock Transfer had ceased to act as CMKM's transfer agent as of 2:15pm on July 1st.
CMKM's relationship with Pacific Stock Transfer had lasted less than two days.
On July 8, 2004, CMKM issued a press release announcing simply that 1st Global Stock Transfer had been re-engaged as the Company's transfer agent. We contacted 1st Global to inquire about the number of outstanding shares, but were advised that only the Company can provide that information.
Will the relationship with 1st Global last this time around? The Company's principals may be hedging their bets?
On July 1, 2004, the same day the Pacific Stock Transfer association was dissolved, the "Desert Stock Transfer Company" was formed in the State of Nevada. The President, Secretary and Treasurer of Desert Stock Transfer? Urban Casavant, the President of CMKM, StockPatrol.com concluded.

Britain's gross domestic product increased by 3.7 percent in the three months to June from the same period of the previous year, the fastest pace since the third quarter of 2000, National Statistics said Friday.
The figure compared with year-on-year growth of 3.4 percent recorded in the first quarter of this year.
On a quarterly basis growth picked up to 0.9 percent in the three months to June from 0.7 percent in the previous quarter, National Statistics said.
Growth was driven notably by increased activity in factories, with production output showing quarterly growth of 0.9 percent, the strongest pace since the third quarter of 1999.
Services output continued to grow at the same rate as in the first quarter.
MSFT AMZN hit pre Open

(Adds Electronic Arts)
NEW YORK, July 23 (Reuters) - Shares of Microsoft Corp. (NasdaqNM:MSFT - News) fell about 2 percent in pre-open trading on Friday after it forecast weaker-than-expected profit in the current business year as long-term corporate contracts expire and investment income slows.
Microsoft, which said late on Thursday that its quarterly earnings rose 81 percent, fell to $28.30 on the INET electronic brokerage system from $29 at its Thursday close on Nasdaq.
Amazon.com Inc. (NasdaqNM:AMZN - News) also tumbled after it posted a quarterly profit below Wall Street forecasts late Thursday. The Web's largest retailer also vowed to continue free shipping incentives.
Its shares fell 6 percent to $42.95 in pre-open trading from $45.82 at its Nasdaq close on Thursday.
Electronic Arts Inc. (NasdaqNM:ERTS - News) also fell after it beat Wall Street estimates for its June quarter but failed to raise full-year forecasts by a similar amount.
Shares of the world's No. 1 video game publisher, which said on Thursday that strong demand in the United States and Europe for new titles boosted its fiscal first quarter profit, dropped more than 3 percent to $50.73 from $52.65 at its prior Nasdaq close.

Portuguese Government Selects Digital Angel's Implantable RFID Microchip for Mandatory Dog Identification Project
via COMTEX
July 23, 2004
SO. ST. PAUL, Minn., Jul 23, 2004 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ --
Digital Angel Corporation (Amex: DOC), an advanced technology company in the field of rapid and accurate identification, location tracking, and condition monitoring of high-value assets, announced today that it has won a contract from the Portuguese Ministry of Agriculture to launch the first phase of a national mandatory dog identification project using the Company's proprietary implantable RFID (radio frequency identification) microchip. This contract is valued at approximately $600,000 and shipments have begun and are expected to be completed in the third quarter.
Leo Ortenblad, Digital Angel's General Manager for the RFID Division's International Activities commented, "We are delighted that the Portuguese Ministry of Agriculture has selected Digital Angel's RFID chip for the launch of this important program, one of many in the planning stages throughout Europe. We were selected after a very competitive bid process partly on the basis of our 15 years of proven results in the European market, both in terms of performance and reliability. Digital Angel is the original innovator, intellectual-property owner and the world's largest marketer of implantable microchip technology for the companion pet marketplace and we consider our established technological platform to be unsurpassed by any other manufacturer."
The Portuguese dog identification program is being conducted in conjunction with the country's annual rabies vaccination drive. The Portuguese ministry was prompted to undertake the project because other countries in Europe had experienced excellent results with their pet identification campaigns and the injectable electronic identification of pets is rapidly growing in popularity throughout the world.
The deadline for all of Portugal's approximately 2 million dogs to be identified and registered in a national database is 2007.
Digital Angel's partner in the Portuguese initiative, and all its European pet identification programs, is Atlanta-based Merial, one of the world's leading animal healthcare companies.
The issue of pet identification is prominent throughout Europe, thanks also to the recently enacted European Union's Pet Passport Initiative. This requires all pets being transported between, and into, member countries to have an electronic ID system or tattoo number as well as a record of vaccinations and other clinical data by October 1.

Taliban have not arrived at the toilets

A Toilet Stop in Times Sq.? Just Ask to Be Buzzed In
By EDDY RAMÍREZ
One of those waiting in line was Sarah Floyd, 72, a tourist from Silver Lake, Calif. Fresh from the Statue of Liberty, she had hunted unsuccessfully for a bathroom at a station in Lower Manhattan before hopping on a train to Times Square. There, she stumbled upon the bathrooms, located inside the turnstiles, near the elevators and an exit to 42nd Street and Seventh Avenue.
"They're a godsend," she said. "I was searching and searching."
Ms. Torres let her in shortly afterward. Ms. Torres also enforces the rules that govern use. Some are common-sense rules; others may seem slightly bizarre. Among them: a five-minute time limit - any longer and Ms. Torres calls through the intercom to announce that time has expired. Smoking, sleeping and "lying down in a makeshift encampment" are prohibited, as is gambling, according to the posted signs. They are open all but a few hours a day.
"On my watch, everybody behaves," Ms. Torres said as she inspected the bathrooms for any suspicious packages left behind. "So far, the Taliban have not arrived at the toilets."

A Market Forecast Takes a Long View, and a Dismal One It Is
By MARK HULBERT
Published: July 18, 2004
THE stock market in the summer of 2008 is likely to be only barely higher than it is today.
That disheartening prediction comes from a market-timing model with an excellent record of forecasting four-year stock market returns. The model is based on projections from analysts at Value Line for price changes over the next three to five years in the 1,700 stocks they monitor. The median of those projections is published each week in the Value Line Investment Survey.
Value Line doesn't advise investors about how to interpret this statistic. But since 1968, when Value Line began publishing it, low readings have generally been followed by mediocre stock market returns over the next four years. Similarly, high readings have typically been followed by above-average returns over similar periods.
To be sure, the Value Line numbers haven't been very accurate in forecasting short-term market moves. But they have been quite reliable in predicting the longer term.
They have proved particularly useful when the mood of investors reaches extremes of euphoria or despair. Value Line's median projection was last considered in this column on Sept. 30, 2001, less than three weeks after the terrorist attacks. At that writing, the indicator was at 105, its highest in more than a decade. At the time, many investors were unwilling to make any bets on the stock market, but those who relied on that high reading to invest in equities have been rewarded. The Standard & Poor's 500-stock index has produced a cumulative total return of 20 percent since Sept. 21, 2001, the day of the market's post-attack lows.
Unfortunately for market bulls, however, the Value Line reading has now sunk to 50, a very low level. Over the last 36 years, in fact, the reading has been lower just 11percent of the time.
The indicator has limits, of course. It's hardly foolproof. And because it focuses on median performance, it is not helpful in projecting how large-capitalization stocks will perform relative to small caps. If the large caps lead the market over the next four years, indexes that are dominated by the large caps - like the S.& P. 500 - will do better than the indicator suggests.
Credit for realizing the indicator's market-timing power is shared by at least two people, who independently reported on its usefulness in the mid-1980's. The first is Daniel A. Seiver, an economics professor at Miami University in Ohio and the editor of the PAD System Report, an investment newsletter. The second is Peter L. Bernstein, the founding editor of The Journal of Portfolio Management and now the head of a consulting firm that bears his name.
Professor Seiver is so confident about the indicator's market-timing powers that he bases his newsletter's market-timing advice on it. He considers any reading of 100 or more to be a buy signal, for example, while he uses a reading of 50 or below as an occasion to build a large cash position in his model portfolio. Based on the current reading of 50, Professor Seiver is recommending being only 50 percent invested in stocks. And he says he will not advocate reinvesting any of that cash in the stock market until Value Line's median projection rises back to at least 100.
Professor Seiver says several factors help explain the indicator's usefulness. First, he says he finds that Value Line stock analysts tend to be "less susceptible to valuation manias" than most other analysts, because Value Line's are independent, immune from the pressures that can be found in research departments associated with investment banks and brokerage firms.
A second factor, he said, is that few other firms besides Value Line even bother to focus on what will happen in three to five years, concentrating instead on just the next 12 months. Because so few other analysts are looking so far ahead, Value Line's researchers should find it relatively easy to spot profit opportunities.
"Wall Street is certainly myopic," he said. "Anyone who is willing to focus on the longer term should be able to earn a bonus for doing so."
A third factor, Professor Seiver said, is the "law of large numbers," which holds that random errors become insignificant when focusing on many observations. He has no doubt that many Value Line projections of individual stocks' three-to-five year returns are wide of the mark. But because the median projection is the distillation of nearly 2,000 separate forecasts, he said, "the analysts' errors will tend to cancel each other out."
And for now, the overall forecast suggests that investors should not be too optimistic about the stock market.

Advanced Energy plunges 25% after earns miss (AEIS) By Ciara Linnane
NEW YORK (CBS.MW) -- Advanced Energy (AEIS) shares plummeted more than 25 percent Thursday after the company missed second-quarter earnings by a wide margin and warned for the third quarter, garnering a downgrade from research firm Needham. The chip equipment company posted earnings of 13 cents a share, well below the 24 cents consensus. Needham analyst Robert Stern cut the stock to "hold" vs. "buy" and said he no longer has confidence in his own estimates. "The company is having trouble transitioning manufacturing to China and the timing and ultimate profitability of the fully transitioned products is uncertain," he told clients. "We see other companies that have similar earnings potential and valuation but greater control of costs." Shares were last trading down 25 percent at $8.33. Volume of 1.9 million shares was 4.9 times its average daily volume.

What's wrong with this broadly bullish view is that the market always operates on the two axes of time and price. Sometimes time is important; sometimes price is. Large-cap bulls are focused on price now, but after a long period of slop, time is often more critical. That's because the longer it takes for an expected positive event to occur (e.g., a sharp rebound from the bottom of a range), the more impatient potential buyers become. The 200-day moving averages, which had been rising, plateau and begin to decline. At some point, shareholders decide to stop waiting for reinforcements to arrive and simply liquidate their positions on the next volley of bad news. If this happens en masse, the bottom can drop out of a quiescent range-trading market, resulting in a sharp, fast collapse.
