Hi, Janice,
Yes, I saved the manuscript to Dropbox and One Drive and to the hard drive and flash drives.
Yet, they were corrupted as I opened them.
The event occurred again in Documents but I turned off the computer and turned it back on and the problem disappeared. However, the writing I had done the few hours prior to that event had been deleted.
Now it seems I save after writing a few words.
I'm writing another manuscript that I began after the discouragement and depression affected me to the point that I stopped writing it. It's a bigger idea, a saga really, that takes place in California's central valley during the Great Depression and World War Two.
I have to go. I just got a call on my cell regarding my car's warranty. They've been trying to reach me for some time.
Trueheart
Thanks, Janice.
I finished my 496 page manuscript. The day after Thanksgiving my computer went haywire and deleted many chapters and reverted others to earlier writing. I had to write and rewrite about a quarter of the book.
I have to find a new publisher because my former publisher sold the company. However, I believe I'll find a publisher soon.
I look forward to participating again.

Howdeedoo, Janice and all.
I are back.
I discovered hundreds of posts from ya'll and I canna read them all but I'll scan them for tasty Mexican recipes.
Hope you've all been well.
Trueheart
Imanjen, it's great to hear from you! I hope you've been well.
Yes indeed, Senor Petty has more lives than a bucket brigade o' cats.
Frankie in this iteration is deja vous all over again.
Howsomeever, I'm squinty-wishing that this time Petty really, really comes through so's I can alert the comely Coochi-Coochi girls they have to move to Argentina to get in on the loot.
Regards,
Trueheart
Good ol' Franklin Mining.
Let's see, over the years I lost money in Frankie, there were promises of wealth from Cerro Rico, Pelacuyo, tin mining and sales, hydroelectric generation, gold sales to investors, tailing mining, gold dredging, oil and gas in the Highlands, an airline and something else I forget.
Are there Mama Llamas in Argentina?

Hear, hear!

Hi, Pete,
I've heard through the grapevine that EPD will be sponsoring Team USA in the 2026 Winter Olympics.
Particularly, the company will sponsor the curling teams.
I've also heard that CNBC will officially change its name to the Curling National Broadcasting Company.
What have you heard?
Trueheart
Yes, Happy Birthday, Ske!
At last, the novel is patched up and, hopefully, better than the manuscript that was partially erased.
Hi MG and Ske and EZ the Marine and Stuffie and all the gang. The feeling is good to emerge and come up for air.
I've sent copies to my sons for safekeeping and will register it with the Writers Guild of America so that it will be protected. It's as good as a copyright.
I hope you've all been well and are doing well.
I've missed you all!
Trueheart
Hiya, Stuffie,
As always, it's good to hear from you. I hope my reply finds you in good spirits.
I forgot my geography and didn't realize that your area was in the path of the devastating tornadoes. I'm glad to hear that your home was spared from the horrifying damage.
I'm doing well, thank you. My health is still pretty good for an old man. I quit the bike and now go to a gym to cycle and row. I write in my head and watch TV and don't have to concern myself about the frosty air or getting hit by a car.
My computer deleted a lot of chapters of my finished manuscript and reverted many others to old writing in the four places I saved it. I think malware did it. A friend sent a Facebook message and I opened it. Later, he posted not to open messages from him as he had been hit. I've rewritten most of it but the writing surely is different. I am discouraged but not defeated!
Like you, I hope and pray for a better year. 2021 has been rough but when you consider that we've weathered all the pain and setbacks the year threw at us, could it be worse? I think not.
Best wishes to you and yours for a Merry Christmas and good wishes and prayers for a happy new year.
Trueheart
Hey, EZ,
It's great to hear from you.
I was assigned to weighing the garbage on KP duty. After mess I'd gather the garbage and put it in barrels out back. I'd weigh the barrels, usually a few hundred pounds and log it in a book. The mess sergeant checked the book, tell me that my numbers were too high and I'd take take off a hundred pounds or so. A pig farmer drove up in a pickup and we'd load it into the bed. It's my guess that his allotment for mess food was based on food waste, and he probably got paid for the garbage.
By the way, as you are a former aviation Marine, you may want to check out a thoroughbred named Flightline. He beat his rivals by some 12-13 lengths in races at Del Mar and he'll be running at Santa Anita.
Merry Christmas to you and yours and best wishes for a happy new year.
Trueheart
USMC
Hi, Ske,
I hope you and yours are okay. I saw the damage from the tornadoes that ravaged Kentucky and hoped and prayed that you were not in the path of the storm.
Let me know before I go back into my hole.
Trueheart
Hi, EZ and all,
Thanks for the email.
I'm writing, redoing my home, cycling and generally trying to stay out of trouble. In other words, same old, same old. My health is good and I'm thankful for that.
I hope you've all been well and are making major bank in this market that sees only blue skies. I've been off Investorshub for the many months that I've been away from this forum, and I think I'm nearly ready to get back into the fold.
I miss you all.
We've got a birthday coming up November 10.
I hope all your ponies show their rear ends to the field at today's Del Mar Breeders Cup races.

Jugs died of cancer earlier this year. You are using Jugs' widow as a cudgel to continue your attacks on him.
STOP!
Trueheart
I'm beginning to understand your continued interest in Jugs' investments and the effect they have had on his widow's financial condition.
As we all know, he died of cancer earlier this year. You may not be aware but this was his second bout with the disease. He had cancer about ten years ago, which he beat. Around that time he also became totally blind, and that lasted years until suddenly he got his sight back, the reason unknown. Then, of course, the cancer returned and killed him this year at the age of 81.
If only he had died the first time he contracted cancer, his wife wouldn't be in the financial condition that you yourself perceive.
In his final days he told us all how much he loved his wife. Yet, he showed that he really was uncaring of her because he had refused to die the first time he had the disease.
I really do understand your heartfelt concern for his widow.
Trueheart
So are you done giving advice?
Trueheart
Janice, that's interesting info about going to the skillet directly from the freezer. The cooking show for which he's the science guy is a favorite.
After reading the various comments, I think I'll get a chef's knife.
I appreciate all your inputs.
Trueheart
Just saw this headline on CNBC: WHO says the Delta variant of COVID is spreading."
I thought it odd that they would lead with a question to viewers. Shouldn't they have tried to research that first instead of asking us to do the work to find the culprit?
Trueheart
Wot's interesting is that the game on TV is spelled "cornhole" while the advertising is a mix of space and no space.
I heard the word in the Marines and when I saw it as a "sport" on TV I couldn't help but laugh for my vulgar sexual thoughts.
Trueheart
Yeppers K9narc, there's a big difference between "corn hole" and "cornhole."
Trueheart
Thanks for your kind thoughts, K2.
The recent days have been hot, most of them north of 100 degrees. I understand that the heat wave has made its way into the Dakotas.
I'm going to the air-conditioned gym instead of riding my road bike. It's too hot even in the morning.
Years ago cooling summer thunderstorms coming up from Mexico deposited bunches of rain on my town but they have been AWOL for some time.
Take care,
Trueheart
Hey, BnB,
I was checking out the physiques of the corn hole contestants on TV events and figured I'd have to be in great physical shape to compete with them.
I'm eating kale and high value omega-3 raw fish.
Trueheart
This is off topic. I've been running five miles a day, cycling twenty miles and doing weights at the gym. My goal is to display disconcerting washboard abs and get down to 2% fat so that I can be physically prepared for my town's corn hole event.
Trueheart
CAT will be fine. It's down and out of favor for the moment but in the long run the company will do well.
Trueheart
Happy Birthday, K2. I hope your special day was beeyooteeful.
Trueheart
Hey, Porterhouse 10, how ya been?
Is that a promise, buying around $150?
Trueheart
Thanks for your thoughtful, reply, Excel.
Some thieves use a gun and others are glib and work our dreams to their ends, and perhaps they do more damage.
I'm glad to hear that you call out the bad guys. The Cable show "Mike Holmes Makes It Right" shows the extensive damage done to people's homes from bad remodeling.
My neighbors bought their home about six months ago and got to the remodel job right away. Their children are polite and cheerful and they do their home chores. They're home schooled and excel in their studies.
He is an RN at the major Kaiser facility some thirty miles away. He worked long days and hours during the height of the pandemic caring for COVID patients, many of whom died.
There has to be a special place in Hell for crooks.
Trueheart
Hey guys and gals,
I want to buy a boning knife so that I can butcher whole chickens.
What are your recommendations?
Trueheart
The neighbor made a huge mistake in not getting a written contract. He trusted the re-modeler who had been referred to him.
They abandoned the build without completing the roofing, rough electric, rough plumbing, etc. The house is wrapped in paper and wire and ready for stucco. He did the roof with his son and finished the electric and installed the insulation and drywall.
They're nice people but apparently too trusting.
Trueheart
Hey, BnB,
Yeppers, the 70-year-old panel has had too many birthdays.
Heck, the marijuana grow lamps take half the power.
Trueheart
Hey, Excel,
Some of the complaints about the devices were labeled "nuisance tripping," such as when vacuum cleaners were turned on.
My neighbor is completing an addition to his house. He said the inspectors have been tough and inconsistent, one overriding the other's okay on the installation of a direct vent water heater.
They should have a field day on my installation of a new main panel.
Trueheart
Hey, MG,
Perhaps the principles are keeping Inovio going because of the company's location in San Diego.
I think that coastal San Diego is more pleasant than coastal Los Angeles.
I worked there for about a year and enjoyed the climate. I also went through Marine boot camp there and due to the vigorous almost 24 hour training, I wasn't aware there was a climate.
Trueheart
Roger that, Ske.
Hope you're enjoying your day.
Trueheart
I have planned to replace my 100 amp panel with a 200 amp panel. I bought the box some time ago at HD.
I checked the national electrical codes and discovered that arc-fault circuit breakers are now required on most residential circuits.
They're not cheap, costing around $40 and up. A 20-circuit box is at least $800 for the breakers only! GFCI protection with the arc-fault circuit costs upwards of $100.
The installation is easy, taking off the neutral wire and running it to the device and then the pigtail to the neutral connection.
It's back to Meow Mix.
Trueheart
That was interesting, K2.
I wonder if he said, "But that's not all. Order now and you'll make only three payments of...?"
A few of those implements would likely take a good deal of skin off with the slip of a wrist.
Trueheart
Hey, DEEJ,
You're spot on about Caterpillar (CAT). I'm a long term shareholder and the share price is getting bulldozed, trading around $221 this morning off a $246 52 week high.
Trueheart
That's absolutely the right answer, BnB. Go to the head of the class.
Hooray for the red, white and blue.
Trueheart
Good day MG and all,
Marines who decorate like that are okay in my book. But in the office perhaps he should have toned down his love for the Corps to a visual dull roar.
I like your work on Inovio. How a company that has thrived on promises for so long can only be explained by the actions of traders and investors who are propping it up as they're looking to make a buck.
Trueheart
Hey, EZ,
Regarding my Apple stock, I was going to write my "corps" position but that would have been between us and I wanted to be inclusive of everyone here. Hee-hee.
Trueheart
Good morning Ske and all,
Rain, what is that?
I've been peeling away on my Apple stock and may drop it as a core position.
Trueheart
Good morning MG and all,
Today we acknowledge and commemorate the ultimate sacrifice that Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines gave as their last measure of devotion.
It's a great day for a long-overdue gathering of family and friends.
God bless America.
