Bobwins! Thanks for the info as always!
Question: Does anyone have list a of all Juniors exploring in the Niobrara area?
Is there a way to do public record search for land leases in that area?
Any favorites other than Samson and Sundance?
I found a list here (not complete I don't think) here:
http://www.oilshalegas.com/niobrarashale.html
Thoughts?
Jeff
By the Way Bobwins... Thanks for bring that "dogfood candidate" Samson to the board!
Samson was mentioned in a Motley Fool post yesterday.
http://www.fool.com/investing/general/2011/01/13/these-cold-stocks-are-heating-up.aspx
Thanks again,
Jeff
A mention in a Motley fool post yesterday may have be helping some too...

FWIW,
Jeff
I was doing something like this myself. I was thinking of doing it in google docs and having a template.
I can copy the iBox and make a public template. It might be easier to read the board with link to all the DD docs rather than having long messages?

TGA News
Anyone still own and/or Follow? I remember own this back on the Ragging Bull VMC days, I think BobWins brought it to the board (surprise, surprise :) ). I sold at 5 or 6 for a triple at the time. Its shot up like a rocket in 2010, From 3 to 20, now its back down to 15.
https://news.fidelity.com/news/news.jhtmlarticleid=201012131749RTRSNEWSCOMBINED_SGE6BC0DQ_1&IMG=N&ccsource=rss-investing
I remember they had good ties to the Egyptian government and solid mgmt.
They are now say that output for first 12 days of Dec was 11,600 bopd and expect to increase to 13,000 BOPD.
If their cost are fairly low, and it should be, and they are getting good light crude then say
[$60 * (12500BOPD * 360 days of production)] /4 quarters]= 64 million per Quarter (This is a WAG)
Vs. the 28 million they reported in Q4? Now I don't know the royalty structure, the cost or, the price they are selling at maybe they are hedged. Plus what it the value of their provables?
I'm just thinking this stock might still have a great deal of potential.
Thoughts Anyone?
Thanks,
Jeff
10 Bagger
I think the Australian market is balancing out with the Currency difference and the all orders that waited for them to take Friday and Monday off before reopening Tuesday.
Still it looks like Bobwins (Thanks Bob!) did indeed do it again! I'm looking for this to move into a multi bagger from here as they keep operator status on the Niobara project, and with Halliburton giving them 2.4 million in cash and 3.9 million in drilling services, I think this is as close as we get to a "probable" multi bagger. I'm hoping they follow the pattern of a company like AEZ as they moved into operator and then were bought out. Or drill it, find more and grow shareholder value based on BOPD and proven reserves, like TGA.
FWIW,
Jeff
Re: Mill down a bit at $5.85 Bob's second chance :)
Ouch, but You got your chance to get back in and make a wash trade :) for a profit...
Although I own Mill.OB (late last year, Thanks to this board!)
I like a company like STP.V's chances to quadruple first, IMO..
Thanks for all the good info and DD

AVR.v/avgcf.pk (Down 10% to .58)
Bob, you were right. Looks like folks are not happy with the reduction in production guidance for the rest of 2010 and the possible financing issues.
(Which is a bit unclear to me, one $25 million deal terminated but another one was in waiting in the wings. but they sold as .60 as opposed to the .70 cents originally.)
I'm happy to get more at a lower price, i'm really not seeing any change in the long term futures.

AVR.v/avgcf.pk Projected Production Numbers
Bob -
With this Q1 bump, I calculated that they are projecting at the highend to get about 69K oz more or about 23K oz each of the remaining quarters this year (Which is still a good production increase, IMHO)... Does that sound right?
Do you have any numbers to the cost of processing the ore? I tried to figure it out but was unable.. Do they have any hedges?
IF Gold stays above $1100, what does this do to your fair value est of 1.30?
Thanks,
Jeff

BLOT: They should have lots of PRs this year and cash flow, but the biggest improvements should be 2011, and 2012 if they can finance and prove McKay.
If they go to 16,000 bbls/day in 2011, maybe 30,000+ bbls/day in 2012 what is this company worth? (provided oil stays above 70)
I'm with Kozuh on this one: "Management team is either crazy or lucky or brilliant or ... ALL 3 ... . "
Thanks Kozuh for finding this one, it looks loaded with potential.
From the conference call...
It was about 20 Minutes in length.
First part Byron reading the PR discussing the increase in 2P Then he added some commentary and answered a few questions.
On Mckay:
They expect approval on the McKay facility by the end of the summer.
They are working with two senior Canadian banks on financing. Expect to finalize in Q2. And Financing terms will improve due to the increase in 2P reserves.
They are 90% complete on the engineering plan and expect to start on the project as soon as they have approval.
After this comes on line they believe they will have 11,000 bbls/day for 28 years.
On Senlac (Heavy oil in Saskatchewan)
Current Cash flow in "excess" of $4M a month
Will need to invest $26 million more over the next two years (2010/2011) to keep it flowing.
Cash flow will be over 100M during this time (4M X 24Months)
(Not sure if this is in addition to current opex cost or capex improvements, will follow up with IR)
Long term opportunities
They think the have another 24,000 bbls/day of 2P in McKay identified.
After some prep work of environmental study, engineering, location selection, drilling holes, etc. They are planning to an application for two more facilities in the spring of 2011. Each application for 12,000 or less which is a below a regulatory cap which might triggering more scrutiny if over 12,600 bbls/day.
They think these facilities will be operating at higher margins since they will reuse much of the infrastructure built for the first one.
They think they could have much more in Mckay than 36,000 bbls/day
and have completely untouched areas adjacent to Mckay that are also viable, but need more cash flow before they look at them.
One caller asked a rhetorical question about if they might get over 50,000 bbls/day in the next three or four years making them a more senior player. No answer :)

Southern Pacific Acquires Remaining 20% Interest at McKay and Additional Oil Sands Interests for $33 Million

Southern Pacific Acquires Remaining 20% Interest at McKay and Additional Oil Sands Interests for $33 Million
Southern Pacific Resource Corp
STPJF | 3/19/2010 9:01:14 AM
CALGARY, ALBERTA, Mar 19, 2010 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX News Network) --
Southern Pacific Resource Corp. ("Southern Pacific" or the "Company") (TSX VENTURE: STP) is pleased to announce that it has signed a definitive agreement with its working interest partner, Bounty Developments Ltd. ("Bounty"), to acquire Bounty's entire 20% working interest in 59 sections of land in the McKay block. As part of the agreement, Southern Pacific will also purchase 20% of Bounty's working interest in 32 sections of land adjacent to and near Southern Pacific's MacKenzie block (the "Acquisition").
The entire package of reserves, resources and undeveloped land will be purchased for a total of $33.0 million, consisting of 20% equity ($6.6 million) and 80% cash ($26.4 million). The 20% equity will be issued as common shares of the Company at a price equivalent to the applicable 10 day volume weighted average trading price of the shares which equals approximately 6.47 million shares at a price of $1.02 per share. The effective and closing date of the Acquisition is expected to be June 1, 2010. Funding for the cash portion of the Acquisition will be made through Southern Pacific's existing cash flow and debt facility.
The acquisition of Bounty's working interest at McKay results in Southern Pacific having an undivided 100% working interest in all its McKay lands, including the 10.5 sections within the Company's STP-McKay Steam-Assisted Gravity Drainage ("SAGD") project. The STP-McKay SAGD project is a 12,000 bbl/d in-situ thermal project that is in the application approval process. Southern Pacific submitted the application to Alberta Environment and the Alberta Energy Resources Conservation Board in May 2009 with approval expected in the second half of 2010. Construction of the project is expected to commence this fall immediately after regulatory approval is obtained. The acquisition of the remaining 20% working interest ensures that the responsibility of funding the STP-McKay project falls entirely within Southern Pacific's control. With strengthening markets and cash flow from Senlac, Southern Pacific remains confident that the funding requirements for STP-McKay will be completed this year.
Within the Acquisition, Southern Pacific also acquired a 20% working interest in 32 sections of land formerly operated by Patch International Ltd., and known as Ells. There are 12 sections of these lands directly adjacent to Southern Pacific's 18-section MacKenzie block (100% working interest). These 12 sections have had coreholes drilled and contingent resource has been assigned by an independent reserves auditor. The acquired lands will allow additional proprietary technical data to be incorporated into the Company's records, and allow for lower cost exploration around its 100% working interest MacKenzie block, which has not yet been explored.
The complete breakdown of Reserves and Contingent Resources associated with the Acquisition are described in the tables below:

Re: Mall Q4 Earnings
Thanks Researcher! I sped over the 10Q too fast :)
With over 1B in Revs and a decent Balance sheet, if they could improve their operating margins (Currently @1.2%) they could beat expectations... It looks like the posted 4Q 2009 Earnings in March. So we have a while. I'll be watching!
Thanks again,

Jeff
R59: Re: Mall infrastructure upgrades
Good point on the CAPX, but the Cisco gear is a lease, and the ERP is also consulting, not sure they can CAPX them, depends on the structure.
In either case thanks for pointing this one out, I think it still might have some short term selling pressure, but I like the long term potential.
You seemed to have followed them for a while, are you bullish on their Q4?

Jeff

R59: Re: Mall Infrastructure investing
Will their upgrades cost them a good q4? (1M to Cisco and 4M to ERP)
Thoughts?
Jeff
It looks to me like they are investing in their internal and external infrastructure. Which is a good sign for the long run, but with their operating income running less than 3 million a quarter, these statement caught my eye...
"As of September 30, 2009, based on our current estimates, which are subject to change, we expect to incur additional external costs of approximately $4.2 million between now and the end of 2010 related to the implementation of the ERP systems"
ERP systems are messy implementations, and then if they are also upgrading their production systems with Cisco
"In July 2008, we entered into an agreement with Cisco Systems for the purchase and implementation of various solutions to upgrade our current infrastructure for up to approximately $4.0 million. The purchase is financed through a capital lease with Cisco Systems Capital Corporation over a five year term. Our plan is to provide a unified platform for our entire company and to provide a robust and efficient contact center. As of September 30, 2009, we have received $3.1 million of the Cisco equipment. We expect to receive the remainder of the equipment and services in the remainder of 2009."
Re: RICK EPS Estimates
Derek -
I have been watching RICK's rise to its current 52 week high today, as well. Seems like a trailing 75 P/E is a little steep.
Not sure I like personally their businesses (Adult nightclubs, porn websites etc.) But if they can make money and grow the earnings :)
How did you come to the .12 net a quarter moving forward? It looks to me like that would be higher than they have ever post before.
TIA,

Jeff

OT: ScotTrade's eCheck provider (T r o y Inc.) Gets hacked!
Does anyone else use ScotTrade here? I got a letter in the mail stating that Troy Inc (T R O Y.PK) was hacked on Oct 25th?
According to the letter my trading account number, Checking account number, bank routing number, social security number, date of birth and Driver's license number may have been compromised. If they got to this point they have everything they need to do anything. (Chances are they got nothing, unless the company was really incompetent, although they were stupid enough to get hacked!)
I run all of the production UNIX servers for a fortune 1000 HR Outsourcing company. If this ever happened in my shop, I would be on the unemployment line along will everyone working for me.
The only thing ScotTrade offered was to change my account number for free!!!
I remember a thread on 'what if' someone got your trading account number, never heard of it being possible until now.

Anyone looked at KOG.V Kodiak Oil and Gas? .89 US
Found them as I was listening to the Oil and Gas conference webcast. US company on the Toronto Venture Capital Exchange. CEO says they are looking for a US registration by the end of the year.
Presentation and Webcast is available here:
http://www.vcall.com/CustomEvent/conferences/enercom/080805/agenda.html
They are not profitable but are well funded for a 35 million microcap. Seem to have a lot of potential for drilling success next year. Also have some good size partners (Questar, Devon, Warren Resources).
Still going through the SEDAR filings, and waiting for an email back for the CEO...
Just wondering if anyone has done any DD and has an opinion...
Thanks in Advance,

Jeff
AEZ NG speculation + .69 up to 7.60!!
Posted on this one in Jan in 2004... Kozuh posted on it as well..

Way ahead of itself IMHO, with a PE of 1,700+ But still seems to move up on no news, go figure...
The company has very professional website and PR's... Unhedged on it small amount of current production, but everyone is speculating that they might have a huge find on there hands in an area they call Fetter in WY.

Oilman57 Re: TMR (natural gas play)
Looks interesting, still a relatively low PE of 13 compared to other oil and NG companies (I own one with a PE of 1,700!)
Just started looking at this today... Noticed the 52 week high of 9.02 is from Oct 2004. Cannot seem to find any news or fillings around that time to account for the drop off.
Did you follow during that time?

Anyone follow Canada Southern Petroleum(CSPLF:5.96 Canadian)?
Just started DD. Any thoughts?
Company's website www.cansopet.com
Profitable Canadian company trading on the Nasdaq Small Cap.
Market Cap 85 Million
PE 34+
Does not seem undervalue, but the price coming off it 52 week low of 4.08. Major asset is its 30% interest in the Kotaneelee gas field in the Yukon Territory but production there seems to be declining.
Gross Revs declining as well..
BUT they have some possible growth via new exploration:
Mike/Hazel Commentary from the second Quarter Report
"During this period, we identified, surveyed, and made application to drill four locations in northeast British Columbia of which three are in Siphon and one in Buick Creek. Currently, all four of these well locations have been approved by the regulatory authorities. Depending upon the level of success at Mike/Hazel, we may license either one or two additional wells in the Mike/Hazel area for the upcoming winter's drilling season"
Thoughts anyone?
Thanks,

EGY and the OIL and Gas Conf Next week
Bought back into EGY last month. Still holding short term...
I think with the way the current market is reacting to any positive news, that EGY will make some type of announcement during the conf (http://www.theoilandgasconference.com/) next week. The announcement may not really mean anything, but I think we'll still see a nice move up close to the 52 week high with someone buying on the story and oil prices...
I've been accumulating a few of the others presenting at the conference, that looked like good buys in May (DBLE, TEC, and a few others which don't fit the criteria of the board)
I have gotten some of my best profits from this conference, in the past, so I put a yahoo portfolio together just to see what the June to Aug impact is.

Re: AOGI to move to AMEX...
Have posted on this board several times about this little company, acquired the private company that started them (Tower), has very experience management and has a lot of potential drilling sites....
They don't have the operating income, or profit to justify the current price, but this one could explode if the drilling goes well, IMHO...
Dips a lot on low volume, has had some trouble filing on time, but never got the dreaded 'e', press releases and web sites are very professionally done by the investor relation firm they use...
http://www.americanoilandgasinc.com/
Holding long since the 2's and will continue...

AOGI Closed the Week UP to $3.35
Filed a NT-10K, just like last year!
So much for listening to the PR guy, who said they were going to file on time THIS year! They did file within two weeks after the NT last year, so I think they will avoid any 'e' issues.
http://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1120916/000100009605000216/ameroil12b25.txt
They did state that they were going to have a large increase in Revs and a smaller net loss over last year.
From the filing:
"We expect to report an increase in oil and gas revenues to approximately $740,000 for the fiscal year ended December 31, 2004 from $97,982 for the fiscal year ended December 31, 2003. The net loss for the fiscal year ended December 31, 2004 is expected to decrease to approximately $415,000 from $800,982 for the fiscal year ended December 31, 2003."
Pure speculation on my part but with the Tower Colombia Corp. purchase (Cannot find much about this private Corp) 2nd Quarter Filing should show another large rev increase... No clue on profitability though...
Anyone else follow this one?
Thanks,
Regards,
Jeff

AOGI another 52 week high Closed@ $3.27
New PR out, announced the acquisition of one of their strategic parters, and the company that several of the officers worked for as well Tower Colombia Corp.
http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/050324/lath032_4.html
Shares Outstanding will increase from 29M to 34M
They filed their 10K 2 weeks late last year (4-14-04). They expect to file on time this year according to their IR firm (The current acquisition will not be a part of the 10K) Expect a modest increase in Revenue and production. Don't expect profitability or even free cash flow, yet.
Company's price to current sales and no profit, is high, but it looks to me like the MGMT has it together, and has the potential acreage to have extreme growth potential and become profitable.
Still looking for enough DD to figure out if it is a good buy here.

Still have a small position from Early Feb @2,15, Never Finished more than initial DD so I didn't buy more...
Anyone else looked at them? 85M Market Cap, seems like loads of potential but not much in the way production yet...
From the 3rd Quarter 10Q
"For the quarter ended September 30, 2004, we recorded $94,159 in revenues from the sale of 24,158 MCF of natural gas for an average net price of $3.90 per MCF, and $165,622 in revenues from the sale of 3,860 barrels of oil for an average net price of $42.91 per barrel"

Bobwins: RE: AOGI 2.50/2.53
Took a small position in the company in Jan. around $2.20 Mentioned it on the board. Still trying to find time to complete the DD, but in summary I believe the company has a great deal of potential as Oil and Gas company, with good management (Almost a one man show in Patrick O'Brien the CEO), backed by two private companies (North Finn LLC and Tower Colombia), and unlike some others (EGSR for example) seems to do well on their PR and has professional IR.
I think the price currently is high for a Company with only $259,781 in 3rd Quarter Revs and a net loss of $45,725. But they seem to have a strong group of properties, and even more importantly what looks like strong management. I think they may be come profitable this year..

Re: The Pinks and share price
I have to agree that most of EGSRE is in strong hand longs(aside from a few swing traders and day traders), I think most of the people who now hold this stock, are risk takers, and probably will not "cut bait and run."
The fact that the management is doing a crappy job currently has to be factored in by now...
The DYDD org guy still seem positive...
I'm holding "for better or worse"
Good luck!

I guess I should have done my DD faster :) I still believe the company has potential, perhaps someone with a higher skill set can see it clear and faster than I can...
News out today, Pushed it up yesterday and Today... From 2.20
Looks like good management (Small) and is a strategic partnership between to private companies (North Finn LLC and Tower Colombia Corporation) (Need more info on them)

Still need to complete DD, will post what I have when completed it.
