Nothing surprises me anymore with this. This stock has tanked for less than that.
Me too.
As an aside, the negative articles always have more conviction. The positive articles never talk about how the bashers are delusional.
And the positive opinions never do anything to this stock, it's only the negative ones.
I'm still trying to figure out what actually WILL be good news for the PPS.
Eventually somebody's gonna be right. We've heard X date/event was gonna be monumental for months now. I believe patience will be rewarded, but I'm not hanging on any one thing anymore. Building up for a letdown. Been there, done that with this stock. Payday will happen when it happens. My blood pressure is thankful I've adopted this strategy. lol
Everyone's thought of that scenario, your coworker's not breaking any new ground there. But A) creating a new system ain't as easy or quick as your coworker suggests it is, and B) wouldn't you think they'd have done it by now? They knew as well as everybody else they were infringing. The only people that think Google's gonna pull a program outta thin air before they have to start paying are people that don't know what goes into it. They lost the trial for a reason.
This needs to be spread around to put it to rest once and for all.
That seems likely. But people that don't know better will be disappointed that nothing came out of it.
He actually said "at least" 0.02 per share. Maybe more.
To be honest, I had to look up what "bifurcated" meant. lol
It was in their best interest months ago.
He didn't say unseat the king, he said capture 1%-5%.
I don't know how Cliff gets any work done with the amount of calls he's gotten this week.
How does the judge determine there was a clerical error without actually asking the jury members what they intended?
I wonder if the jury's following all this commotion they caused.
If they foreman's at home thinking to him/herself, "Oh crap, we messed that up." lol
Begs the question of why he didn't do it yesterday. Because according to Mike (granted, that's just one observer's viewpoint on the proceedings), something seemed fishy yesterday in court and then the judge promptly recessed for the day as if the wheels were turning in his head. Because now, the jury's probably long gone and it's too late.
That's the good news, that's it's not just some cockamamie message board theory. The VRNG lawyers have been on top of most things in this case, so i have confidence in them. If there's a way to rectify it, they will have thought of it. Not that it'll all work out exactly like we hope (nothing ever does), but it's at least being addressed with a victory in it's pocket.
So, what, nothing's going to happen today?
Not rich or smart enough to avoid getting in this mess to start with. lol
Where was all that money and brains when they could've bought VRNG and ended this charade weeks and months ago?
Yeah, I gather it's just not as simple as it might sound.
But yet, everyone's having a coronary. If nothing else changes, it still looks good. A win is a win.
Regardless of what happens, I don't get why people are acting like VRNG actually LOST the case. They're better off now than they were when they started, the patents are valid, there's going to be a royalty rate of some kind, all these other people are going to have to settle, it's only just beginning.
I support this misplaced math theory, and it really does make perfect sense and seems way too coincidental. I just don't see it amounting to anything though. Seems like a longshot, hail mary. I don't know how viable it is that a jury mistake is gonna be overturned right away.
One thing we know though is that VRNG can be caught off guard, but if you let them sleep on it and digest it, they'll come out firing.
But why can't one logically use a historial number to estimate? Are Google revenues gonna fall off the table? How far off can the percentage be unless nobody knows what they're doing?
Somebody else mentioned this earlier, but given the small damage award, could the judge think the royalty rate is too high? Cuz I can kinda see the logic in that. Why would there be such a discrepancy in past and future damages? If the past year was only worth $15mil, why is next year worth $100mil+?
Vringo won every claim, unanimously. The immediate reaction to this may be that Vringo did not come out too well, but to me, the real story is that the 3.5% running royalty is the Major issue, whereas the past damages amount really is the red haired stepchild issue. Honestly, if the running royalty is worth $500M approximately, then the difference is between $530M total, and $600M total. And the key is that the win: (1) validates Vringo's ability to punch the bully in the mouth and walk away; and (2) handle future lawsuits. Congratulations, Vringo longs. You hung in there and won pretty big.
That article's a good one cuz it explains why the royalty's significant. That's the info we need out there.
We went from looking at $500mil in damages at the start of the trial to $30mil and people are acting like that's not gonna make a difference? You all don't think the impact is gonna be muted at least some?
And yes, I understand the royalty rate is the thing, but let's not ignore the damages for minute.
It would happen on election day, when it's wall to wall election coverage. Cover this! LOL
I understand that, and am very happy about it, I'm just being greedy. lol Just seems like a curious damage amount.
That's it, $30 mil in damages? What happened to the $80-$120mil in damages for the year?
He should've done that a long time ago. I always cringed reading how people would scramble for the exits after every discussion, cuz the jury was seeing that. I don't know what effect that'd have, probably none, but I just didn't like it.
And VRNG countered by saying they filed the suit 3 months after acquiring the patents. And that when the patent holders tried to find out years prior, Google's own testimony showed they were evasive, making it difficult to know infringing was going on.
If I'd have hat my wits about me, I'd have been all over it, but by the time I thought about it, it was too late. lol
Don't count your chickens before they hatch, even if the shell is cracking. lol
That jury's gotta be ready to end this and go home.
Begs the question, as an intimate observer of the proceedings, what made him think it'd be done on Friday? Unless it seemed pretty clear cut to him.
You'd have to think so.
So when does this show get rolling today?
I prefer to think they're being thorough.
