Naked Shorting, I was under the impression that naked shorting in any form was illegal. Apparently it isn't.
Naked short selling, or naked shorting, is the practice of selling a stock short without first borrowing the shares or ensuring that the shares can be borrowed. Naked shorting is not necessarily a violation of the federal securities laws, and can contribute to market liquidity, but is illegal when it drives down stock prices.[1] In 2004, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) issued "Regulation SHO" seeking to curb abusive naked shorting.[2]
http://en.wikipedia.org:80/wiki/Naked_shorting
Today Christopher Cox, the SEC Chairman, just put a 30 day moratorium on naked short selling of Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and primary dealers. Geez, I thought that was illegal anyway and why the 30 day limitation? No one during the Congressional questioning ever asked "isn't that illegal anyway" and "why aren't you doing your job and enforcing the law." To me they are basically saying it's OK naked shorting on all other stocks and after 30 days all is fair game again. Guess the SEC is saying we really cannot control naked shorting but we'll try to scare some doing it in the short run.
Here's a link to ADX. Haven't seen anything in writing other then ADX for daily and weekly but obviously it can be applied to any time frame for trading.

Thanks
Chico, Are u using ADX(9) on the 5' minute. Thanks
Just what I thought, he even looks like a genius!
Nice article but really doesn't do justice to the Zeev we loved here. A compilation of all the adjectives describing him from the board following his death is how I'll remember him.
Paul, Been checking daily for obituary for Zeez but haven't found one either. Perhaps tomorrows paper.
Nevo, Merav, Aviva and Jonathan,
Thank you for your note and sharing your father with us. As you can tell from all the posts of sympathy and praise you have a large extended family. May God bless your family.
Bruce, You were indeed fortunate to have spoken with Zeev. Thanks for sharing another bit of info about the genius who crossed our path.
Paul, The following is a link that you will give a little insight to the brilliance of Zeev. A picture of him and his colleagues was on the site a week ago but could not find it today.

ZEEVERS, I, as many of you, merely know Zeev only from the board yet almost feel as though we lost a family member. Know he appreciated all the support and postings via public or private emails during his fight for life. Will post his obituary when it is available. Not sure how to honor him other then for everyone to send a sympathy card to his family expressing your feelings about Zeev. Opening to any ideas about honoring our friend.
ZEEV FRIENDS,
Just received a call from one of Zeev's colleagues who asked if he sent me an email if I would post it which I surely said it would be done. With a heavy heart and a tears in my eyes here is his email:
Would you be so kind as to post the following message on the boards:
Dr. Hed's heart stopped suddenly on March 11. The Hed family thanks
everyone for their kind messages.
The Hed family address is
12 Wagon Trail
Nashua, NH 03062
Thank you and best regards....

Considered putting link in the first (only) email but opted not to, but stated a couple times he was in our prayers. Was merely looking for a response. Unfortunately the response leads me to fear the worst. Hope his wife responds.
That's what I felt too, but didn't want to say it.
All friends of Zeev,
I sent the following Email to a colleague of Zeev:
Dr. Hed is the moderator of a stock bulletin board and all the posters are very concerned about his health as he has not posted for quite a while. We all know his health problems, or what he has told us as he is very modest. Everyone has him in their prayers as we have in the past. I would like update everyone as to his status, if I may. Not sure you may know or would want to disclose the information which I can perfectly understand. If by chance you have contract with Dr. Hed, please let him know we are all keeping him in our prayers.
The following was the reply:
I'm very sorry to say that I can't respond to your request. I will
forward your message to his wife and she may decide to respond.
Hopefully Zeev's wife will reply. At any rate, keep him in your thoughts and prayers and anyone with any info about him please post it.
Great news and continue your healing, we'll continue our prayers.
Change the setting to Last Day Only-Until Market Opens.

Y, Been thinking the same thing, btw, last yesterday had the same question. Hopefully someone will give us an a good answer.
Tea, Your Market smarts far exceed your football smarts. You said you were picking the "dogs". They aren't called the "dogs" for no reason. Still hope you had an enjoyable Turkey Day and thanks for all the charts.
Here is a link with a good explanation.

Gloe, Point and figure is the simplest form (and may be oldest form) of charting. Let's take IWM that closed at $79.30 today. Start a chart at $79 with an X. Using a .50 x 3 box reversal if the next days range of price is $78.75 to 79.75 an X would be added above the first X. If the high would have been 80.25 2X's would have been added to the first. If high did not exceed 79 by .50 or more and the low was not lower than 77.50 nothing would be done. If high did not exceed 79.50 but the low was 77.25, a column of O's would be started with 3 O's, starting right of the first X and at 78.50. If the next day the low didn't exceed 77 and the high exceed 78.50, nothing would be done. There are no fractions or time period in P&F. You can change the size to $1 and 4 boxes (requires $4 move for a new column), .25X3 (requires .75 for a new column). Stock price usually determines what size box to be used, Google might need a $5 to $10 box size, or $15 to $30 move for a new column of X's or O's. There are many good books on P&F, one of them is Three Point Reversal Method of Point & Figure by Michael L. Burke. I bought mine many years ago from Traders Press. I'm sure if you Google Point and Figure there is a better explanation then my lengthy one above. Also, any book on Technical Analysis will have it.
Worry, Do use QT and prefer the OBV/5 as I like the signal line. As I said, it is used for confirmation as well as looking for trend changes based on the slope.
gloe, Niconoa, Wood, Chico,Cruz, et. al.,
Am a lurker and find this board to be one of the most useful as well as CIVILIZED boards on IHUB. When Cruz put up numbers revealing what he found there was no dispute, only further discussion of what individuals were using. NO BAD MOUTHING Cruz's findings. We all know there is no technical indicator silver bullet and everyone's results will vary even if a market order placed at the same time. As for myself, I look at CCI 20/5 and OBV/5 for crossing and their slopes for both entry/confirmation areas. Keep up the good work to all.
Thanks, Wood, got er done!
Just another reminder when you have time to post settings for the arrows either by public or private mail.
AJ, you should be thrilled as you indirectly became part of the new "U.S. Gov't Real Estate and Financial Institution Investment Trust"<gg>
Will take a look at.
Hate to sound dumb, but what is EGLF?
Thanks, Randy. It is very close to what I was referring to, other then the verbage is different. Really appreciate your effort to help me out.
A Schedule of Trading Day Times was posted many years ago by a contributor. Went something like this: 9:30-10:00 xxx, 10:00-11: 15 xxx, etc. Had it in my mailbox (many IH servers ago) and mailbox was emptied. Thought I had it in print but cannot find it. If anyone still has it would appreciate posting or sending it to me.
Thanks
Thanks, TC
Loaded Office 2000 and works fine. Have Java on system and enalbled yet still getting applet problem. Is there anything else in settings I am missing, such as scripting etc.
Thanks, Jeff
New computer with XP SP and Works 8.0. Old system was 98 with Office 2000. Old Excel (.XLS) are not properly dispayed in Works 8.0. Are my old excel and word files incompatable with Works 8.0? If so, can I load Office 2000 (for Win98 & NT) that came with my old system for distribution with a new PC, or am I screwed?
Also, some sites say JAVA applets are required, do I need to download them? JAVA is enabled on system.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Jeff
Not sure what you mean by turn them on in bios. Changed bios in a couple ways to no avail, plug & play and legacy USB. Could you be more specific. Current Bios has plug & play set to NO and Legacy USB set to no. Changed both to yes and each one individualy to no avail.
Printer with USB plug in problem, need help.
Have a Dell Dimension XPS T550, Pentium III, 256mg Ram. The motherboard has two built-in USB ports. Just purchased an HP1315V printer/copier/scanner that requires USB plug in. Have never used the built-in USB ports before. Installed the printer as instructed but will not recognize the ports. Per HP site there could be conflicts with the ports. The Universal Serial Bus Controllers lists Intel82371AB/EB PCI to Universal Host Controller and shows it is working properly, yet the USB Root Hub shows the Device status as: The NTKERN.VXD device loader(s) for this device could not load the device driver. (Code 2) No matter what I do it stays the same. Have disabled both the USB Root Hub and Controller.
Bought a Belkin Hi-Speed USB 2.0 5 port PCI card and installed. The Belkin and NEC controllers are OK, but the USB port hubs reflect the driver provider is Microsoft, Date 4/23/99 and the Manufacturer: (Standard USB Host Controller) as well as the same Device Status as noted above. Printer will not recognize.
Any and all help appreciated (know my machine is a dinosaur)
Thanks, Jeff
Ad-Aware link was used and description on CNET said OK for Win95 so downloaded. Tried running it and got WS2_32.dll not found. Did a little more investigating and found AA does not support Win95. Anyone out there in the dark ages as myself that has used AA on Win95, and if so, where can I get WS2_32.dll from? If not, anyone using a spyware program that can be used on Win95.
Thanks
OT: Any Golf Nuts from Boston or Cleveland? Check out this deal, I think they are outstanding!
I'm here, only from Florida <g>.
KEY TIMES DURING THE MARKET DAY FOR TRADERS
10:25-10:35 ...A decision point for traders. Many times a turning point reversal or accelerated continuation of previous setup.
11:15-2:00...go bowling...this is the "dangerous time of day" . Traders lunch out and scalpers try to push the indices around to make a quarter here or there.
Good post. Apparently no trading between 10:35 and 11:15 and also 3:00 to 3:05 <g>.
