Why the near 10% drop today??
That is EXACTLY how I feel!!
And that is exactly what happened and exactly what all potential investors and IT managers will think of once they here of Sphere 3D!!
Reverse stock split announced.
Good, should hopefully soon make it a marginable $5 stock..
Much more as I understand, it could turn any phone or device into say a desktop, with all its functions and capabilities..
Dell's Credibility - A quick look
"The company went public in 1988 and during the following 25 years, its stock climbed 13,500 percent and yielded 27 times better returns among the top 500 ICT companies. It was taken private again by its Founder: "For an entrepreneur who wants to be bold, take risks, go into new markets, expand, and grow, this isn't a compatible situation. So I decided to buy the company back," Dell told an audience of more than 1,000. He is currently its CEO and chairman.
...
Dell said his company has evolved beyond its PC days, extending into the enterprise business and services. He added that some 50,000 of the company's 100,000 employee currently support its IT services business, which include application development, business process outsourcing, and cloud."

Enough said.;)
Van, please kindly also consider as already discussed with JB379 and Struftepete privately to please shift the ihub board base for each pick to Yahoo Private Groups, where DD can not only be stored in a manner much more efficiently and organised, BUT ALSO where boards (messages and members) can actually be actively moderated, and so kept free from obvious scammers who try to invalidate the usefulness of a board, a strategy well known to us all not only from ihub, but also, for example, from the public Yahoo boards.
Most here do have an active yahoo account or yahoo finance login anyway and the system has greatly proven itself for many other stocks. Moreover, since HTFBS seems to be anyway on the way of moving away from ihub (respected decision) PLEASE do consider opening private yahoo boards. Van, I am very happy to give you a concrete example privately of a very well working stock board, if it might aide your analysis of the benefits. Also, speaking for Sphere, as mere example, I would be very happy to be one of the co- moderators of such a moderated Private Board, since as a shareholder I want the knowledgable audience of our stocks to efficiently grow!
As mentioned to JB, I believe that both Spiffy and Ciggy have immense potential as their audience and knowledgable investor base grows efficiently. In order to achieve that we NEED a forum, where the public can, when they become interested, efficiently review DD documents others have collected and shareholders can exchange views and findings. A Yahoo! Private Group would be ideal for that!
We can then simply on public Yahoo board or ihub, post frequent messages to check out our new Y! boards for further DD and open intelligent discussion.
We MUST NOT be complacent or surrender to the shorts and their tactics but move to a playing field where WE set the rules, and do not allow either proprietary research for subscribers only to be distributed, or scamming of a board to take place! Thank you.
I agree, it seems to have been pretty much written off as uninteresting, we need some news on their progress of sales, they stated they commenced working with Sphere an V3 two months back..so some news could shortly come?
Also, Cyrus must be watching, they wanted to use OVRL as a public acquisition vehicle (that can also use tax credits btw) so lets see, also there, a quick turn in fortunes is easy I feel, we just need some kind of news/ info/ hope...
I really dont mind the questions, everybody is entitled (and gratefully so) to questions and JB is very patient and even tries to address them one by one etc, but what is to my sense not very considerate, to put it in general and very polite terms, is to post that frequently that other "normal" people like me have a hard time finding other opinions or information other than the posts of one person/ poster.
Free speech and democracy go hand in hand, but the concept is invalidated in terms of a medium of communication (such as this board), if one poster/party (long or short) and not a moderator, tries to completely take a medium of communication over with the frequency of their posting.
Anyway, fine, same as many here, I guess I will have to do the wading through messages to find the real nuggets of information here myself.
I actually applaud your parade, as any person in real business experiences that the tetms and what they theoretically allow for is much less important than WHO one does business with. Period.
Please check out the profile of Cyrus. You will see that they are long term investors, and actually emerged from a spin off of Och Ziff, an incredibly highly respected investment firm. They invest in undervalued companies and provide active growth assistance through experience, expertise and connections. I have met key executives of Och Ziff myself in a former time. But please do your research yourself. If you want to feel comfortable, do yourself the favour of actually reading about Cyrus. If you are investing your hard earned money, why not invest just a few minutes of your time?
These guys are professional long term investors and NOT traders! The strategy some are outlining here, relates to practices of a completely different group of financial actors, and thank god Sphere did not sell the placement to them but to actual proper and professional long term investors! If you wanted any more assurance of the credibility of Sphere, well reassure yourself that these pros did their due diligence...and their indirect exposure to Sphere through their ownership in Overland was not enough for their appetite!
Glassware would be a GREAT solution for that!
Also, we never mentioned, but the market for game consoles is huge by the way as well, where Glassware could allow people to:
- play over their computer/laptopipad at work/travel/wherever via logging into their game console at home.
- in a second stage not have to buy a game console at all, but be able to log into any platform and play any game over whichever device they are on.
The 'games' market may sound silly to some here, but look at the market size for games and game consoles and you will find it not so silly at all. ;)
Hi Foxx, was just reading your old posts as part of a DD, so does that mean that in your mind the $3.50 is the temporary treshold or it is the $5.00 level? Thanks for the clarification.
Harvard Business Review - New Study in the latest magazine described therein with title 'To raise productivity let more employees work from home' Subtitle: 'A new study shows they'll be happier and get more done'
This is excellent in that business leaders who primarily read this magazine hopefully take notice. Moreover, Sphere and V3 should really quote these studies in their sales pitch to potential clients too!! Its the kind of perfect and very, very credible ammunition that helps...
Our huge opportunity as retail investors arises as most institutions had written off Overland as a tape storage provider, a player in a declining market segment, the bigger boys will only realise AFTER Overland has proven its current path, that it diversified away from tape storage, and actually did so way beyond that! While that may depress the share price right now, which also allowed a lot of us to get in cheaply so lets be grateful for that, in a few quarters when that realisation happens and more and more investors buy back in, the price will rise steadily...
Its always MUCH better to be in a stock where the key question is only WHEN it will rise, not IF it will rise...

Wow, what a company! Don't miss out to check the WEALTH of information on V3 and how amazing that company is! www.v3sys.com Wow! If you dont even want to read it, but just see the videos about their (our now !) solutions and products, check out : http://v3sys.com/information/videos/
Amazingly impressive doesn't even start to describe it! And now as part of Sphere their potential is exponential!
Agenda of the Summit: From that it doesnt look like Overland will be able to show off Sphere as just participating in a panel discussion (9.20-10.00 am slot), but in any case next year we should be a huge star at the summit! Sorry let me correct myself, THE star at the summit!
I am sure for now Sphere (despite its revolutionary solution) prefers not to attract too much attention at an event like that to maintain their first mover advantage until all system are go, which is actually very smart.

It bodes well for us and is very telling that Microsoft's new CEO was heading up its cloud efforts, it tells you how important they know it is.
For the new ones that might have missed the Forbes article from beginning of Jan:
Title: Why The Cloud Just Might Be The Most Disruptive Technology Ever
Quote:
"But what makes the cloud so disruptive is that it compels legacy players to change their business models, including pricing strategy, sales channels and even basic technology. The winners will prevail not by dominating the value chain, but through making it easy for developers to collaborate and for users to adopt the technology cheaply and easily.
It seems the cloud is now disrupting every industry it touches. The world’s most advanced technologies are not only available to large enterprises who can afford to maintain an expensive IT staff, but can be accessed by anybody with an internet connection. That’s a real game changer."
http://www.forbes.com/sites/gregsatell/2014/01/05/why-the-cloud-just-might-be-the-most-disruptive-technology-ever/
Completely agree with you. And there in your post is also evident how disruptive Sphere can be.
Meaning to say, yes suppose Sphere has an app with at the backend a simple browser that supports flash, very simple build and execute given Sphere's technology, and yes you are right, suppose that causes on one day enough of an itch to Apple to suddenly support Flash. Very possible, agree. But then just imagine that scenario! And what a perfect example that is of how disruptive Sphere could be, pushing a monster like Apple, the largest technology company in the world, to reverse a strategy they followed for several years! And that as a 'small' company! That is what is in the truest sense of the word the disruptive potential of Sphere...
I beg to differ, the problem for Apple users would only get solved by a solution like Glassware. The problem is not that no videos can be played on these devices, or the speed, but that everything on the web that uses flash simply does not get displayed. Especially the fancy useful websites.
Eg, ever tried the ' build your own car' feature on an ipad? Won't work. Ever tried to fill out a form on ipad and use these drop down menus to make a selection? Makes you tear your hair out.
Of course I, like so many others, tried various browsers to see if they would work better, but the browser is not the problem, its the compatibility with mobile Apple products! What glassware can overcome is going beyond the OS of these things, then we could get the functionality of flash sites!
If anybody knows how to let John Morelli etc know (sure they thought of that but anyway) of that HUGE market opportunity that would be great! Speaking as both a shareholder and anxious first subscriber/buyer of such a solution!
Oh, and besides the revenue, THIS would put Glassware immediately in the minds and hearts of iphone and ipad users around the world!! Talk about efficient marketing!!
I became a HUGE fan when I saw the demonstration on the ipad...
Do u know how many users on iphones and ipads are out there, who a times a day get annoyed by the message that they can not view flash sites, videos, or animations on mobile apple devices?? There is simply NO solution for that right now.
ZERO solutions for millions and millions of guys like me. I even considered switching from my beloved ipad "JUST" for that! Its bloody annoying!
As soon as that will be available, ALONE FOR THAT FUNCTIONALITY you have millions wanting to browse the internet through a solution by Sphere!!
ENORMOUS potential, and that even will be just the MINI START to introduce people to the incredible possibilities that Glassware provides...
Your word in god's ears! Sure is scary action the last two trading days. On the one hand manipulators normally use smaller chunks to hit a low volume stock, on the other hand a 'real seller' would be abnormally stupid to sell on a day when all US Traders are at home so aggressively AND after a day that already left some insecure over the weekend...
So the timing that the seller chose to ignite some panic speaks in favour of your theory/ a manipulator being at work today while most people are out...
Well, if you re-call we were exactly where we are right now and drifting lower before the news on the conference came out, so some traders who (falsely) bought in quick hoping the conference would initiate some quick trigger buying, sold again, and here we are again...
Dont get me wrong I am very sure Sphere made some excellent new connections at that conference, its effect will be long lasting, just not immediate in terms of a quick stock price hike...
Actually, of course it takes them over a week! They have to conduct due dilligence and get it approved by the investment committee! Even the smallest fund investing in small caps has a proper organisational structure and its clear investment processes!
These conferences are to initiate hugely valuable leads and relationships, NOT for funds to go: Oh, one of our team members who attended the conference liked the presentation and demo, and now we will be buying CAD 20 million of that company's stock on the open market. ;) Imagine with our tiny volume what their buying scenario would have to look like. ;) These guys build relationships and participate in future capital raises....much more important than to just drive the stock price up, they provide small companies, exactly like Sphere 3D, with the future funds they need to grow!
Sorry, what you are thinking of are maybe hedge funds trading in and out of large caps, entirely different breed of funds alltogether...
So with yesterday's close, do we have more than 10 consecutive trading days together? Is the condition fulfilled?
Is that a bad or a good thing? Good: company gets more money, right now. Bad: Warrantholder might sell out on some stocks received through the exercise of the accelerated warrats, if so, and put pressure on at low volume?
Anyway below the text from the bought financing: Each Warrant being exercisable to acquire one Common Share at a purchase price of $4.50 for a period of 24 months following the closing of the Offering. The Warrants are subject to an acceleration clause whereby should the Common Shares trade at $6.00 or more for more than 10 consecutive trading days on the TSX Venture Exchange (the "TSXV") or other principal exchange, the Company has the right to issue notice to the warrant holders to accelerate the expiry date of the Warrants to a period ending not less than 20 trading days from the date of notice.
