OT: SeriousMoney, doh, you got me on the italics. Oh, so that's who "Lance" is. You part of his chase team? Cool. That'll be amazing if he gets it again. Talk about going out while on top! WOW!
OT: SeriousMoney, I gotta ask, who is Lance? eom
AMEN! EOM
rationalfaith: Really? Sure does look like a "semacode". Maybe someday the USPS may find a reason to link it if they already haven't.
A barcode's a barcode's a barcode's a barcode!
Thanx,
lns
SeriousMoney: Exactly, and that's the beauty of it all. :)
Uh, how do you say it....uhhhhh. Oh, yeah...
GO NEOM!
ALYNNB: Competitor? This whole game's coming down to the patents, right?

United States Patent 5,933,829
Durst , et al. August 3, 1999
Automatic access of electronic information through secure machine-readable codes on printed documents
Abstract
The present invention is a secure system and method for providing automated access to electronic information stored in a database in either a local or remote location. The system utilizes a machine-readable code printed on a document, referred to herein as an intelligent document since it stores information used to automatically access the information. The machine-readable symbol is encoded with source data (including a file location pointer) that is first obfuscated by generating a checksum of the source data, encrypting the source data by using the checksum as an encryption key, and assembling the checksum with the encrypted source data prior to encoding. The machine-readable symbol is then printed and distributed by the vendor by any logical means to the end user. The end user then scans the code via appropriate code scanning (e.g. bar code scanning) equipment, and de-obfuscates the scanned data by parsing the checksum, decrypting the remainder of the scanned data string (which includes the file location pointer) using the parsed checksum as a decryption key, computing a checksum of the decrypted data string, and comparing the computed checksum with the parsed checksum to determine the validity of the code. The file location pointer is then used to access the appropriate file. In a preferred embodiment, a Web browser program is launched, and the URL of the vendor's Web site is accessed through the Internet.
Compare that to this...

4.URL barcodes
The fundamental concept of semacode is the URL barcode. A barcode is a machine readable visual tag, and a URL is an internet address. At the most fundamental level, semacode is the encoding of URLs into barcodes and the associated machinery to read those codes and load the associated resource onto a user device.
Who owns the bridge?
A semacode interesting fact that I recently discovered is that the USPS is now using them as part of their new, metered postage designs. We just got a new Pitney-Bowes machine where I work. Saw it for the first time two weeks ago.
Scroll to the bottom of the USPS link page to view the "Information-Based Indicia without FIM" to view the "semacode".

...NEOM's patents cover this 100%

OT: NEOMITES, MAN YOUR BEAR-TRAPS! lol/eom
Glad y'all couldn't sleep lastnight! Thxn/eom
Reading the "Rising Tide" statment tells me that the bashers and shorts (naked?) are trying to cause some fear and skepticism concerning NEOM's reporting practices prior to the release of the first 10Q for this year, which I would suspect should be released fairly soon..."Question those numbers! Don't believe what you see!"...add nauseam.
Signs of desperate tactics on the losing side (bashers) are always a positive sign for the side w/ the upper hand.
I think this bodes VERY well for the numbers that will be reported.
iloveM3s: I think what Acacia offers will find wide spread use but I don't think there's any connection to NEOM unless they were to incorporate GPS w/ it. The reason is, if I'm not mistaken, NEOM's patents apply to 2D barcodes, not "multi-dimensional" barcodes.
IMO, both types of barcods will have their uses.
SOG: THE DD MONSTER!!! EOM
SOG, were you reading my mind? ;) eom
Interesting: If what JPetro states is true, "I also believe OP3 is a friend of NEOM's rather than a foe. This assertion comes directly from NEOM.", then that would assert that ScanBuy is also a "friend of NEOM's rather than a foe".
Why???
From an excerpt of a recent interview that the Pondering Primate had w/ ScanBuy:
"OP3 is a partner representing Scanbuy’s technology in its region, focusing on integration of our technology in Fortune 1000 and mobile operators."
THE PLOT THICKENS!!!!

duke27: Using my SWAG analysis/insight, I previously today posted on RBB regarding my thoughts on their "Shotcode" technology. BTW, from their website, "In 2005, we decided to focus completely on Shotcode."
Wow, now for my SWAG analysis/insight reposted from RBB:

ifathom: In response to your questions/comments, "My question is if the patent is strong, why are there so many in this space? And will an "internet" code be more customizable like shotcodes etc. used by one beer company at present to link you directly to the contest or ad campaign site vs. just to the company website. I'm leaning towards shotcode type tech which may be a better fit for this functionality and an easier camera capture. A cross platform that could link shotcodes and barcodes will emerge the victor I feel. Thoughts?"
...NeoMedia's "PaperClick" technology allows the customer who owns the barcode to change, on-the-fly, where their barcode will take the consumer. Here today, there tomorrow...all in the matter of just a few key-strokes.
Why would a company pay for adding a second "Shotcode" or anything else to their packaging if they can utilize their already existing barcode? My guess is they wouldn't.
OT: bigdaddio, you subscribe to that fundamental analysis as well? lol!!! Thanx for that! lns
Picksit, St.Andy and others...the way I interperate this NR, http://www.neom.com/press_releases/2004/20040621.jsp , is that possibly any phone that has the PXA27x chip may also automatically have the ability to "PaperClick" w/o the need to download any software.
I don't know for sure, but why would Intel feel the need "to Collaborate on PaperClick as Mobile-to-Internet Linking Platform"? My thoughts are they wouldn't unless they would be able to make some money in the whole m-commerce wave by making "PaperClick" automatically available on mobile devices that utilize their PXA27x chips. JMHO...
I just don't see the connection otherwise. How can Intel benefit from NeoMedia if this is not the case? Further more, how can NeoMedia benefit from Intel if this is not the case? Intel is hardware, NeoMedia is software. Intel already empowers the world to connect to the internet via land or mobile devices.
From the NR: "NeoMedia and Intel have agreed to work jointly, including developing and marketing NeoMedia's PaperClick product for the PXA27x processor family, and cooperating to foster penetration of the enterprise and consumer global mobile marketplace by both companies."
Downloading the software doesn't seem to be the best means to "penetrate" anything. Do we have do download Google? NO.
SAIC is big, but I think Intel is BIGGER!
Any other thoughts?
beacon27: 10Q=quarterly report. eom
Thanx, RonMexico. That "34" # doesn't seem too far off base From 10K:
"Employees
As of December 31, 2004, the Company employed 34 persons, of which 16 are located at the Company's headquarters in Fort Myers, Florida, 8 at the Company's Lisle, Illinois office, 8 at the Company's Calgary, Alberta, Canada office, and
2 remote employees. None of the Company's employees are represented by a labor union or bound by a collective bargaining agreement. The Company believes that its employee relations are good."
The next 10Q is going to be very interesting. Hopefully we'll see it in the next 4-6 weeks.
Boldini, forgive me, I must be passing by it because I can't find it. Is it a payfor service? If not, would you happen to be able to provide the link?
I'd be much appreciated if you can, please. That would be interesting info to keep track of.
Thanx,
lns
Thanx a lot, Boldini! EOM
If the employment #'s are incorrect on their website, it would be helpful if they updated them. It is misleading.
Before I start digging, does anybody know if the # of employees is listed in the 10Q's and 10K's?
TIA,
lns
Boldini: Link please. TIA/lns/eom
I agree cloud8. IMO, logic does prevail in this case. TS doesn't "correct" any of his investment advice. If it's one thing he is it's that...an investor. He does however admit if one of his picks doesn't pan out to his and his (ChangeWave Alliance's) expectations. That's totally different from giving good/bad investment strategy advice.
This was not one of those cases.
Both MOBL and EspeciallY NEOM appear to be VERY GOOD PICKS!
Thanx again, Tobin!
RonMexico: IMO, I think they may be lining up other third party players to do a lot of their "heavy lifting" for them.
Don't know of any connection, but that piece of info I found out about UCCnet doubling their barcode servers hit me pretty hard and got me thinking. Also, don't forget, they'll be gaining employees w/ the BSDS merger. Most mergers inevitably end up in layoffs for some. I don't suspect this will be the case this time.
JMHO
Pondering TS's timing myself...He doesn't normally send these out in the middle of the afternoon, does he? I though they mainly came out after market close. Can somebody please confirm who receives his MicroCap service. TIA
Add on that, the fact that he upped his buy price (I forget 'up to' or 'under') by 50% makes me think there may be a good chance on news after market closes.
Time will tell...
Funny how everytime he's come out in the past w/ buy prices, they're almost always OVER that by the time he puts them out to the masses, at least from what I've seen.
This seems different to me. hmmmmmm......
Thanx, mactex! eom
mactex: link, please? THX! eom
Congrats, JP. Congrats! eom
dd add-on: Too funny, sog...if you click on the 'boingboing.net' link you posted and then click up top of the page 'cory' then once in his site click on 'bio' to read up on him. Here's the funny part...
If you read down, he's the European Affairs Coordinator for the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF).
EFF...the same "patent busting" group that has NeoMedia on their "Ten Most Wanted" list. lol!

No TA guru here but, might we be in a trading pattern like mid April? The last two days and depending on how today ends, looks almost identical (to my feeble TA analysis) to 4/13, 4/14 and 4/15.
If that's the case, we could very well see a buck in the next few trading days.
Am I off base here?
Looking to "average up" later today (hopefully sooner today!...c'mon funds, transfer already!) lol
lns
Good link, NEOM. That's what's really going to blow the lid off this thing is a break-even 10Q followed by an in-the-black 10Q...LOOK OUT!
DOH!!! I missed that! Sorry :) eom
qqq4profit: You're right in a way. The technology isn't going to do anything for many folks lives and many will never see the use of it.
It's those that start out knowing no different, who use it like the use any other time-saving, energy-saving, money-saving, hassle-saving, connection-making, instant-gratification making tool man has ever invented.
To them, it won't change their lives, it will be a part of their lives.
Think about it...just like your computer is to you today.
Wow, back-to-back post nominations of the week (IMO)...
