Thanks, Sick!
For that insight and the various other contributions!
Inefficient.
Why release 3 PR's when you can release an all-encompassing ONE or not even have to release a PR, but, rather, just an 8k.
I highly doubt our CEO doesn't understand the impact of the event(s) or the requirement(s).
Smart move by Mr. T!
Almost all probably wish they could control their destiny the same.
RIP, Mr. Jobs.
We all know it takes all kinds to invest in KBLB. Some may never invest in it. I say to those who don't, they're missing a rare opportunity. Bezos, Jobs, Gates, Buffet, etc. weren't flawless. Those alive, still aren't. But each worked their plan.
Some see nothing but a stock led by a buffoon for a CEO. Others, like me, see a Company led by a Strategic Thinker. Others fall somewhere in between. I've decided to "bet" on that CEO's abilities to take ME to the Promised Land. From what I see, the bread crumbs are being laid down for me to follow. I'm Cautiously Optimistic with a lean towards Almost Certain. But that's just me.
GLTA! Holding the Golden!
When I say "slow-walked" I mean the deliberate, methodical, strategic way forward (generally speaking). With caution along the way to ensure this step works in accordance with the next 10. As opposed to rushing things and having to then do 10 things you didn't want to do before you can take the next step.
In the early days of KBLB, I don't believe the method was being applied. Only when Mr. T could guarantee himself he had a viable product then back it with a viable way to bring it to market with someone beyond himself to make the dream a reality, was he then able to institute the slow-walk method.
No doubt he erred along the way. Everybody does. But to think we are what we were at this juncture in KBLB's "viability" is to fail to look at accomplishments and what is to become of KBLB.
Thought some humor could help while we wait.
Thanks for the call-out.
Can't come close to your contributions, but, willing to keep at the DD.
Interesting times to be a KBLB shareholder, for sure! Like Banana references all the time...it's like anticipating the arrival of Christmas. May we have a Christmas in July!
GLTA! Holding the Golden!
Mr. Thompson: Hey, Ben, those guys on iHub NEED us to realease a PR, can you get on that right away, please. I've said it like 10 times already.
Ben: I'm already on it, Boss. How vague do you want this one?
Mr. T: After all these years you even have to ask?
Ben: Well, you know, they are really wanting you/us to be forthright with what's going on.
Mr. T: Not ready yet, Ben.
Ben: But, but, that Mojo is really gonna blast you, Sir. Can't we give them something less vague this time?
Mr. T: In due time, Grasshopper. In due time.
Ben: Why don't we just wait until we release the K-8 and bypass the PR altogether? Can we do that?
Mr. T: It's called an 8k, my friend. And, yes, what a GREAT IDEA! No need to release more info than what we have to. Especially when it will all be spelled out right there in black and white per SEC-required regs.
Ben: So, just that? No PR?
Mr. T: Yeah, just wait on that. No need to spoil them. Then they'll expect it all the time and, well, they already have a problem with me slow-walking this thing.
Ben: Whatever you want to do, Boss.
Stay tuned to see how it plays out in real life....
GLTA! Holding the Golden!!!
It will be interesting to see the "tone" of those PR's, too.
IMO, whether they are the typical "vague" PR's or more informative than in the past, will say a lot about the status of things with the company as a whole, too. Sounds like a "duh" statement, I know, but, I firmly believe the level of clarity garnered from these next PR's will speak volumes. The vagueness has served a purpose up until now. A transparent PR will serve an entirely different purpose.
IMO, it will show how "ready" we actually are for what lies ahead in the immediate (mainly Q3/Q4 Mass Production). Typically vague will show we are still a few steps away. Can't wait to see where we stand!
GLTA! Holding the Golden!!!
Thanks, GT
Ah, yes! It's like the missing piece to the puzzle.
That makes sense now, Zenaku. Thanks for opening my eyes.
Exactly, Rayo! Thanks for offering that.
I tried it another time and it took out more of the "strawberry" language but not all of it...
ONCE AGAIN, NOTE This is from an article from August 2018...
Than Ky Textile Company Limited (Kraig Biocraft Laboratories Company Branch - KBL, USA) just had a working session, presenting a mulberry planting project in Go Noi land before Dien Ban Town People's Committee; continue to open expectations about the revitalization of silk weaving nursery which once flourished in this land.
Shaping material areas
According to the introduction, when deployed, the project will have a scale of 100ha located in 3 communes of Dien Phong, Dien Trung and Dien Quang (Go Noi). According to Mr. Nguyen Duc Play - Head of Dien Ban town's economic department, the project will be implemented to make Go Noi area become one of the provinces with the biggest mulberry growing area in the province, to realize the dream of vocational rehabilitation. mulberry growing, silkworm raising, silk weaving, which once existed here. "Dien Ban town has developed a scheme to plan raw material areas along Thu Bon river including 3 Go Noi communes, Dien Hong, Dien Tho and Dien Phuoc communes, an area of ??about 500ha. Currently, pilot planting has been carried out for 3 ha in Thanh My village, Dien Quang commune "- Mr. Play said.
Previously, from May 2014, twelve farmers in Thanh My and Ben Den Tay (Dien Quang commune) were selected by Dien Quang Agriculture Cooperative to pilot the project of restoring the mulberry growing area (each household). 5 acres). The project is implemented by Dien Quang Agricultural Cooperative in collaboration with Hoi An Silk JSC. According to Mr. Cao Van Khanh (Ben Den Tay village), this project is expected by the local people because it not only opens new directions, creates livelihoods and income for people but also turns his dream and The households in Go Noi land became a reality. “In the past, there was a whole village of mulberry growing, raising silkworms and silk weaving. Particularly, my house planted more than 2ha, but because of many reasons, my job was lost, so when I heard about the project, I was very happy. In fact, everyone felt sorry in his heart, because the profession was associated with his grandparents for hundreds of years, now the dream of traditional job in Go Noi land has the chance to revive, why not happy ”- Mr. Khanh chia share.
Mr. Khanh said that compared to other crops such as peppers, corn, beans ..., mulberry cultivation is much more effective. However, the difficulty of growing mulberry is that the material area must be separate, not to be confused with other crops because when people pump medicine will affect the mulberry tree, silkworms will die. But according to Mrs. Tran Thi Bay (Ben Den Tay village), although it is not yet known how effective it is, the recovery of the mulberry trees still brings joy to her and the households in the village. All 12 households were in the mulberry growing group, so everyone was determined to work with the desire of his father's career to return to the old age. "Happy, but the most important is the product output, if the price is stable, everyone will do it. But now, only focus on preparing lush mulberry trees for silkworms alone "- Mrs. Seven confided.
Output prospects
The golden age of Go Noi mulberry took place nearly 30 years ago, almost every house is growing mulberry to raise silkworms, at least 1-2 ha, many growers sometimes up to hundreds of hectares. Only in the period from 1987 to 1992, each year Dien Quang commune exported to the market nearly 20 tons of silk, in the village always busy with the sound of weaving silk. However, during the period of 1993 to 1996, the area of ??mulberry cultivation narrowed. Today, even in Go Noi area, only one household still grows mulberry to raise silkworms but not to reel silk, but it mainly takes silkworms ... selling pubs.
Mr. Phan Tin - Deputy Director of Dien Quang Agricultural Cooperative said that in order to revive the trade village, the cooperative cooperated with the Commune People's Committee to conduct land allocation for mulberry farmers to raise silkworms. In the immediate future, it will be piloted 3 ha, expected to plant another 20 ha in the winter-spring season, aiming to recover 150ha in the next two years. Although newly planted for more than 3 months, most of the mulberry trees have turned green, promising high-yield harvests. “Each household participating in the project will be provided with a pumping well and installed an electricity meter by the cooperative to facilitate the collection of mulberry water. In addition, the cooperative also supports each of 20kg NPK fertilizer. Central Mulberry Company supports free GQ2 strawberry variety; When there are cocoons, the company continues to support hot water, at the same time buying products with a minimum price of 145 thousand VND / kg cocoon, an average of 5 sao will give 30kg cocoon / litter ”. According to Mr. Phan Tin, with this way, farmers can only care for and raise silkworms. Particularly, silkworm-like eggs provided by cooperatives when they are cocooned will deduct the price or support mechanism. Striving from here to the end of the year, there will be 1-2 first silkworms (one batch of 22-25 days), when the harvest is stable, people will get about 7-8 batches of cocoons each year.
Comparison shows that the effectiveness of mulberry trees is 5 - 10 times higher than other crops and rice. Especially, attaching to environmental protection because of not using pesticides. Not to mention, mulberry trees have a great effect in protecting the land, each season floods mulberry trees lying down to embrace the soil and accumulate silt and prevent landslides. Mr. Le Thai Vu - Chairman of the Board, General Director of Hoi An Silk JSC affirmed that, in addition to the high determination of the local government, the price and market of product output will ensure a good basis for Strawberry planting in Dien Ban silkworm in particular as well as in Quang Nam revival. Over the past time, besides organizing visits for households, learning experiences on mulberry growing in Bao Loc (Lam Dong), enterprises have also collaborated with the province to survey material areas in districts. Dai Loc, Duy Xuyen, Dien Ban. "In the immediate future, the unit will coordinate with authorities and people in Dien Quang commune to experiment in Go Noi 5ha. After evaluating the results will continue to expand to more regions. The current advantage is that in addition to having many new varieties for high productivity as well as modern silkworm breeding, we have also cooperated with the Central Center for Mulberry Research to transfer technology on how to raise silkworms, Strawberry planting for relatives. In particular, businesses will also be responsible for the output, so I believe the prospect of recovering this job is very large, ”Mr. Vu said.
And, furthermore, from the same article some good nuggets of info (simple interpretation from the Vietnamese article)…
Output prospects
The golden time of the mound Mulberry was almost 30 years ago, almost every home also planted mulberry, at least 1-2ha, many growers had when up to hundreds of hectares. Only the period between 1987-1992, each year in Dien Quang commune, it is almost 20 tons, in the village to clear the space for silk weaving. However, the period 1993 to 1996 the area of planting strawberry is gradually narrowed. Nowadays, the go floating has only one household to plant the mulberry but not silk woven, but mainly silkworm... Sales.
Mr. Phan Tín – Deputy director of Dien Quang Agricultural COOPERATIVE, said that in order to wake up the village, HTX has collaborated with the PPC conducting land delivery for farmers to grow mulberry. Before the eyes, it will be a 3ha pilot, scheduled to grow more than 20ha, aiming to recover 150ha in the next two years. Although they planted more than three months, most of the strawberry trees have grown in good green, promising high-yield harvests. "Each participant of the project will be closed a pump well and mounted a power meter to get the job of strawberry juice. In addition, the HTX also supports each strawberry pole 20kg stool NPK. The Central Mulberry Strawberry Company supports free GQ2 varieties; When the company has continued to support Nong Nia, while buying product targets with minimum price of 145 thousand VND/kg cocoon, average 5 poles will be 30kg cocoon/litter. According to Mr. Phan Tín, with the way farmers have only public care and raising silkworm eggs, the same egg is supplied by the HTX when there is a cocoon to subtract the price or the mechanism of support. Striving from here until the end of the year will have 1-2 generations of the first (a silkworm 22-25 days), when the harvest is stable every year people will be around 7-8 fussy.
The comparison shows that the effect of strawberry trees is 5 – 10 times higher in color and rice. Especially, tied to environmental protection for non-pesticides. Not to mention, the strawberry tree has a large effect in protecting the land, each season floods the strawberry tree lying down to hug soil and accumulate alluvial, preventing avalanche. Mr. Le Thai VU – Chairman of BOD, CEO of Hoi An Silk Joint stock company, in addition to the determination of local government, price, market output products guarantee will be a good base for the farming area Silkworm electric desk in particular As well as the Renaissance Quang Nam. The last time, besides the Organization for the residents to visit, learn the experience of farming mulberry in Bao Loc (Lam Dong), the Enterprise has also collaborated with the provincial survey of raw materials in Dai Loc District , Duy Xuyen, Dien Pong. "In the first case, the unit will coordinate with the government, the people of Dien Quang commune as pilot in the 5ha floating go. After the evaluation, the results will continue to expand into multiple zones. Today's advantage is that in addition to having many new varieties for high productivity as well as modern silkworm formulations, we have also collaborated with the Central Silk Research Center to transfer the technology to the way of raising silkworm. , planting the bride for her. In particular, the enterprise will also be responsible for the output, so I trust the prospect of restoring this profession is great "-Mr. Vu said
According to the same source Sickzone used to break the news of the meeting we've all been hyped about, this is what is said about "Than Ky" in an article from August 2018:
baoquangnam.vn/kinh-te/thuong-mai-dich-vu/201808/hoi-sinh-nhung-bien-dau-808322/
If I'm correct in my simple translation findings, then "Than Ky" translates to "Divine Textiles Ltd." According to the above-linked article they have been named a subsidiary of KBLB in the past as it links to the Mulberry operations.

That's just a quick look into trying to interpret things from what Sick provided us the other day and this morning. Hope that helps.
Exactly, Col!
Next leg up will give higher foundational support for the next wave of "dry powder" Mr. Thompson's got locked and loaded. IMO, this next PR should ignite things beyond our wildest imagination.
Q3 IS COMING FAST!!
Rayo, it was actually more than that...

6 Strongest Materials on Earth according to Forbes:
Spider Silk gets an honorable mention...
https://www.forbes.com/sites/startswithabang/2019/06/18/there-are-6-strongest-materials-on-earth-that-are-harder-than-diamonds/#4e53f0b63412
Honorable mention: there are three terrestrial materials that aren't quite as hard as diamond is, but are still remarkably interesting for their strength in a variety of fashions. With the advent of nanotechnology — alongside the development of nanoscale understandings of modern materials — we now recognize that there are many different metrics to evaluate physically interesting and extreme materials.
On the biological side, spider silk is notorious as the toughest. With a higher strength-to-weight ratio than most conventional materials like aluminum or steel, it's also remarkable for how thin and sticky it is. Of all the spiders in the world, Darwin's bark spiders have the toughest: ten times stronger than kevlar. It's so thin and light that approximately a pound (454 grams) of Darwin's bark spider silk would compose a strand long enough to trace out the circumference of the entire planet.
The myth is soon to become reality!
The fireworks show we're about to see will put the 4th of Kuly to shame! IMHO, of course.
Slow walking about to do the talking!!!
Does anyone know if KBLB holds or intends to file for any patents on their manufacturing processes for developing Spider Silk?
I read it on my toilet paper roll this morning.
Most shareholders know differently.
If KBLB was simply selling beverages or chicken, I would agree with you.
Biotech is a little different, though. Whether it be the "Holy Grail," Spider Silk or any other biotech firm's product. Overall, producing and selling in this space in general warrants uber-protection measures. Reverse-engineering a secret recipe is more serious with a company in relative startup status vs. one that's established, as well. Plus, as any sustainable company will attest to, the more they can monopolize a market, the more sustainable they will be. Competition is good. But, monopolization is better. Way better!
Let Mr. Thompson work on building his moat. Put up his barriers to entry. He's matured a lot as CEO. The current stock price reflects that. IMO, the future stock price will reflect it even more.
And, imagine this...
One day we get a PR that isn't deliberately vague, but, rather, filled with information that you, I, and every other shareholder and reader of said PR don't/doesn't have to read between the lines. Instead, our CEO reveals something that's cut and dry, like, let's say, "Today KBLB has signed a contract with XYZ Co. to produce X-amount of Spider Silk valued at $$$-Million to be delivered by Such and such Date." With all the XYZ's and X's filled in, of course. To read exactly as it should.
Concrete details after years of deliberate obfuscation will launch the share price into the stratosphere. As hopeabides said in a post a few days ago (Post # 157597), and I firmly believe, "You will see soon enough it has been slow walked."
IMO, it's a strategy for the company and share price as whole. I trust the strategy.
The Third Law of Power States...
Keep people off-balance and in the dark by never revealing the purpose behind your actions. If they have no clue what you are up to, they cannot prepare a defense. Guide them far enough down the wrong path, envelop them in enough smoke, and by the time they realize your intentions, it will be too late.
Of course, Beast!
Amazing what some companies will do to protect their ideas/products.
BTW...Congrats on the Stanley Cup! 2019 is gonna be quite the year for you, huh? Between that and KBLB success, it's gotta be like winning the lottery!
“In business, I look for economic castles protected by unbreachable moats.” – Warren Buffet
Buffet values a business, or castle, by the competitive advantage that protects it. He knows that only those castles with a deep, wide moat will stand the test of time.
One has to respect Mr. Thompson's attempts to build a moat around his IP. The more barriers to entry he can put between him and the competition, the better off we, as shareholders, will be. Unbreachable? With what some say about his abilities as CEO, shouldn't he be doing whatever he can to protect the company's IP?
It would be nice to know more about our beloved company, but, one has to look at others who have gone before us to take painstaking measures to protect their company's secrets:
Famous Trade Secrets
The Google Search Algorithm
Google developed a search algorithm and continues to refine it. Some changes are announced but many are not. Google continues to modify its top secret algorithm to keep businesses and people from gaming the system.
It is the top search engine today and shows no signs of giving up its place.
Kentucky Fried Chicken
The secret ingredients for KFC's original recipe were originally kept in Colonel Sanders' head. He eventually wrote the recipe down, and the original handwritten copy is in a safe in Kentucky. Only a few select employees know the recipe, and they are bound by a confidentiality agreement.
For better protection, two separate companies blend a portion of the herb and spice mixture. Then it is automatically processed to standardize the blending before it is sent to the restaurants.
There are rumors of other requirements about the secret recipe. One says when KFC updates its security systems, the recipe is temporarily moved to secure location in an armored car escorted by a high-security motorcade.
Coca-Cola
Coca-Cola made a choice to brand the recipe a trade secret instead of patenting it, which would have lead to the disclosure of the ingredients. Since one of those ingredients may have been cocaine, Coca-Cola decided to keep the recipe as confidential information.
This trade secret has spawned rumors of its own. One is that the recipe contains bugs or insects. Another is that two employees each know only half the recipe or that only two people know the combination to the safe where it is stored.
In case you doubt it, corporate espionage is real. In 2006, and employee and two accomplices stole the formula and tried to sell it to Pepsi. Pepsi blew the whistle and let Coke officials know what was happening. The employee and friends were arrested.
Lena Blackburn’s Baseball Rubbing Mud
Lest you think all trade secrets have to do with food, Blackburn’s Baseball Rubbing Mud is an example that does not.
The rubbing mud was developed to dull the surface of new baseballs, making them easier to grip. All the mud comes from the same place, but the business assures everyone it is on public land. It is a trade secret passed on to new generations to prevent people from walking on the source.
New York Times Bestseller List
The New York Times has the most influential book list in the country, and it will not divulge its definition of a best seller. It apparently is not merely the number of books sold since a book that has sold fewer copies than another can make the list while the better selling book does not.
It is known that the Times gets information from chain stores, independent book bookstores, and wholesalers about sales figures, but that is the extent of the knowledge. The Times refuses to release its system because it fears publishers would then use the information to manipulate sales data to their advantage.
Employees provide a non-answer when asked; they say there are “official” best sellers and “unofficial” best sellers.
Listerine
Listerine is a popular example of a trade secret used in law schools.
The inventor licensed the secret formula to Lambert Pharmaceuticals. Lambert (now Pfizer) made royalty payments to the inventor’s family for over 70 years, even though the formula was revealed during that time.
Pfizer tried to stop payments after paying over $22 million for a formula that was no longer secret. It sued, saying it was no longer responsible for licensing fees. The court ruled that the contract did not stipulate that payments could be stopped if the trade secret was legitimately discovered by others, especially since Pfizer had acquired the formula when it was still secret and derived competitive advantage from it.
WD-40
Originally WD-40 was developed to prevent corrosion. The chemist kept the formula secret and sold it a few years later. Even now, it is the company’s only product.
Like Coca-Cola, the secret formula has never been patented, so competitors could not discover what is in it. The company does reveal what is NOT in the formula, including a statement that there are no known cancer-causing agents.
The formula has been in a bank vault for years, only taken out to change banks, and, once, to be carried by the company’s CEO to celebrate its 50th anniversary. The CEO wore armor and rode on horseback.
The formula is mixed in three different cities around the globe before being given to the manufacturing partners. The formula has been reverse engineered, but the trade secret is kept for marketing purposes.
Twinkies
Rather than a marketing ploy, the recipe for Twinkies is kept as a trade secret because the company fears consumers will not understand what the ingredients really are and stop eating them or giving them to kids. Many of the constituents are harmless but have chemical names that sometimes sound hazardous to those outside the food industry.
Krispy Kreme Doughnuts
While the recipe for the Krispy Kreme Doughnut has been a trade secret for 70 years, it is not really the source of competitive advantage. Still, only a few employees have access to the recipe, and it is locked in a safe at company headquarters.
The real secret of the taste of Krispy Kreme Doughnuts is the process by which it is made. The company designed a process where the fluffy doughnuts roll out of the kitchen on an assembly line, still warm, to be sold quickly after being made.
McDonald’s Big Mac Special Sauce
The special sauce recipe was a trade secret so secret it got lost in the 1980s during reformulation. Nobody noticed it missing until an executive wanted to bring the original back. Fortunately, McDonald’s was able to retrieve the recipe from the original person or company that originally produced the sauce, as the recipe was still in the records.
Trade secrets confer a competitive advantage in a free market. Some of those secrets are no longer secrets but still function as marketing devices. Other secrets would probably seem very mundane if revealed to the public. Occasionally, as with Twinkies, the trade secret is language that could be off-putting to the intended buyer.
Everything about our Spider Silk shouldn't be protected? At this point, everything should be considered "Top Secret." Why? Because, how disappointing would it be to put in all the work up to this point only to have it all taken away in the blink of an eye by revealing a process or procedure to those with the ability to steal it all away.
One has to respect Mr. Thompson's attempts to build a moat around his IP. The more barriers to entry he can put between him and the competition, the better off we, as shareholders, will be. I, for one, believe in what's being done. I don't like it, but, I believe.
GLTA! GO KBLB!!! Holding the Golden!!!
"whats wrong with saying that in Vietnam, they will change many things about the normal process in order to insure they make the best product possible...BECAUSE THATS WHAT THEY ARE DOING..."
Because I'm pretty sure Mr. Thompson assumes people will understand when he says the worms we are using are a "drop in replacement" for "normal silkworms" that most will get what he means. Also, when he says things will go "hand in glove" I'm pretty sure he assumes since the worm is just a different version and not a completely different product altogether, that people will understand that the existing silk systems in place to produce silk over the centuries in this country will pretty much go "hand in glove" with what KBLB will look to accomplish in developing their "SILK." Those in production and logistics will get what he's saying.
For those not, here's a handy analogy...
Toilet paper is toilet paper. If you buy a better brand you don't need to learn how to use toilet paper all over again or the "equipment" needed to dispense it. Because the new toilet paper is a "drop in replacement" for the old which will go "hand in glove" with the process you used before to wipe. Not a big deal. IMO, if it is, then you got bigger problems than changing toilet papers.
Doesn't "drop in replacement" simply just refer to the actual genetic modification of the silkworm?
By saying, "drop in replacement" aren't they simply saying they are basically replacing the silkworm silkworm with the recombinant spider silk "DNA"-infused silkworm? They've just made the product better from the standpoint of spider-silk properties.
I don't see how "drop in replacement" refers to the processes in production, supply, etc.? It only makes sense if the product produces more then the equipment, etc., will follow suit.
If your toilet paper roll is too big for your toilet paper dispenser, obviously you'll need to buy a new dispenser if you choose to continue using more. But, if you are simply using a "drop in replacement" for your current toilet paper (i.e., Charmin for whatever generic brand) and it fits the same roll, then, voila', the only thing that changed was the toilet paper.
Am I missing something with this questioning about what a "drop in replacement" is supposed to imply?
"supply chain inputs accordingly."
I hear ya! KBLB is gonna be a darling to news outlets sooner than later, IMO. Just think about when we can stop searching for the news we want and it's being fed to us daily. From various sources. With Q3 almost two weeks away, things may start to really pop in KBLB Land!
GLTA!!!
I think it may be a rerun, ptwin.

"I will date myself... I guess."
Have you tried online dating instead?
That's the truth, TRUTH!
Exactly the reason I re-posted it. Lots being said there about the past, present, and future. Not spelled out completely because that is the approach Mr. Thompson has chosen to take. Makes Spider-Sense to me!
Inside Kim Thompson's head:
This is awesome insight into Mr. Thompson's approach on all things KBLB. Had to go back a ways, but very thankful for Red (MU_Redskin) doing this interview. Seems like our CEO is VERY TRUE TO HIS WORD! Waiting until he's "solid" on what he wants to release.
Enjoy the read from 8 years ago...(once you read it is easy to see where Mr. Thompson's head is at in regards to releasing info):
Strong BuyInterview With Kim Thompson, Ceo KBLB iHub post 1/20/11
http://investorshub.advfn.com/boards/read_msg.aspx?message_id=59018146
I Called and introduced myself with my name and told him I was the moderator at investors hub for KBLB. He started off saying he was hesitant talking to me as he doesn’t want to release non-public information and he prefers to use Ben Hansel as the Investor relations contact primarily, but then said he was glad to talk to me. I told him I wanted to get inside his head and help shareholders understand why he has done things the way he has, so that they(investors) can better make decisions. He is very very careful in choosing his words.
For future reference, any questions I would advise be directed towards Ben Hansel(720)288-8495. Any specifics not already disclosed will not be disclosed until a press release is made. Samples of the recombinant thread are being handled with as if they are classified. If a competitor were to get a sample, they would be able to get information our CEO does not want divulged, at least yet.
No speculation here folks, just inside the mind of our ceo, take it for what it’s worth.
I asked why he has been selling some of his shares which were in 500,000 blocks.
Answer.….. reluctant to answer that, and then said are you familiar with a 10b5-1?(no sir), except to say I do have what is called 10b5-1 plan, not under my control, I don’t wanna be in the position to buy or sell stock on the market , its common to establish these, The number I can sell or buy is limited, and the plan set up to not be able to control day to day whether shares are sold or not.
I asked what can you say about the second generation of transgenics, I guess all you can say is the scientists are working hard on it?
Answer……. Working hard, and hopeful for significant forward progress, in the 1st quarter.
no question here, this was his final statement after I told him I appreciated his time etc..
I hope shareholders will hear from us in within 60 to 90 days and maybe another shareholder conference call, no plan yet but sometime in next 60 days if all goes well. Conference call is to give overview to them as to what has been accomplished and an overall update on how I have implemented the business plan and some that weren’t revealed on the previous conference call.
I told Kim we want to know why KBLB has been so quiet since Sept 29, except for generic type press releases. And why can’t he release details of commercialization type deals underway, and said is that because you only want to release it when it is finalized?
Answer..…Plan is to wait until announced. At the end of the day you track a month later how come that deal never closed ? Never want to be put into that position. When announced then its solid. The deals can be damaged by announcing before i's dotted and t's crossed. Just being quiet. In the past when Kraig Labs is quiet it is always because something was going on, we had to stay quiet about it, I anticipate we will use the same moving forward when needed we will be. Sometimes what we do a new discovery and we don’t want a competitor to know about, or a corporate deal and not let competitor to know about until rock solid. So far we have had a great track record, information not released, its kept quiet until ready to release information to full public. So far fortunate that details from the lab haven’t been leaked.
I asked why he hasn’t released the technical data on the silk thread
Answer…….Umm couple reasons, for competitive reasons I don’t want it in the hands of competitors, that it is only shared with on confidential basis, umm tried avoiding public disclosures, we don’t to give competitors a heads up about how we accomplished this, any information we give helps. Publication doing inside university labs as part of the parameters it is allowing scientists to publish on what was accomplished, The University Of Notre Dame provides for that specifically, scientists peer review published in a scientific journal will be later in 2011. The Requirements are that the paper has to contain new information not released to the public. They won’t publish if the journal don’t consider it newsworthy. Scientists requested not to release the data. They have rights by contract with the company, in the short run I don’t like idea of publishing, I like to keep quiet, also on the other hand publishing does benefit the company by giving a wider audience and quells doubts.
I asked do the further generations of the specific transgenic pass down its traits, as in levels of spider protein.....
Answer………The Short answer is yes. Once the transgenic organism is producing silk its’ off spring will bear those exact traits and some will not. What we do in next generation is weed out those who don’t bear the traits, and eventually a pure strain exists. Its’ called homozygocity all same for trait, it takes a number of screenings to achieve this.
Thought so.
Has anyone seen KBLB's silk production operations yet?
If so, can it be confirmed they are using the violent vs. non-violent method for producing silk?
Would it be more cost-effective for KBLB to use the non-violent vs. violent method?
Is the non-violent method only a factor in appearance of the silk due to "soiling," or, is it also something that could affect the integrity of the composition of the silk for KBLB's purposes?
Never looked at the ethics behind using silkworms since they've been used for centuries. Just looked at the potential.
I think we'd have to wait for KBLB to reveal their updated Business Strategy before being able to answer that, Trainer. Without knowing that, we can't assess the feasibility of Production, Logistics, and the overall Supply Chain. Not to mention IP-licensing areas they may delve into.
What markets are they actually going to focus on? What customers in those markets are they actually going to conduct business with? Will they offer licensing deals or not? If so, licensing deals on what technologies/services? ETC, ETC, ETC.
Many are right to want more information. IMO, the company is strategically moving forward with THEIR PLAN. It's not like adding a client to your list of lawns to mow. Or servicing the next customer who walks through your door. With the scale of things KBLB is dealing with, I can see how one could get bogged down by decision overload. Lord knows one wrong move and Mojo will unleash the fury! They don't want that. LOL.
The last two months of steady action should be very telling of where the company was, to where it is now. Prior to April of this year, who thought KBLB would be holding steady in the 30-cent range on a daily basis two months later? Not me. Not most. Two months from now we will be approaching mid-3Q. A lot will be said about where the company is and where it's going at that point.
GLTA!
Just wait until they do actually start mass producing...
Then, of course, new Key Performance Metrics (KPM) will start getting slammed. Earnings. Costs of Goods Sold. Customer Acquisition Costs (yes it applies in offline markets, too), PROFIT, etc.
But, as Netflix, Tesla, Amazon, Twitter, Uber, Lyft, to name a few have shown, it's not necessarily about those KPM's as it is about the "potential" of the company. Or, maybe even more precise: the "allure" of the company's potential.
You are absolutely correct in that KBLB is trading where the market says it should for right now. The market is saying the same for the other companies, too. But, the big question is, are we invested in KBLB's potential or the allure of their potential?
The company says Q3/Q4 mass production. We are 18 days away from the start of that new wave of questioning the company's viability. Unless a PR is released ahead of time giving more definitives, the stock will reflect the market's view of KBLB's abilities to deliver on their "promise." It will be interesting to see how Top Execs handle these next few days and weeks ahead, information-wise. Critics will be silenced or fueled. The market will react accordingly during that time. We are probably at the most critical juncture in the company's history at this point in time. I'm sure KBLB Top Execs know that. IMO, the lid is about blow off this thing!
So true, Rayo!
I get stuck sometimes focusing on "just" the Spider Silk potential with KBLB that I lose focus on the broad, potential, scalable opportunities with the company. Although I was merely pointing out in the case of Milliken how Spider Silk (aka, KBLB) fits their production line, you are right, and I thank you for expounding, we should not lose focus on the many potentialities with KBLB.
It may all just be wild speculation until the company gets to the point it's comfortable sharing it's updated business strategy. But, when taking in the totality of things, the Bigger Picture per se, when dealing with KBLB, one has to like what "can be." I, for one, am invested for that very reason: I am betting on what can be! Even if it is "just" the Spider Silk potential. Anything more than that is, well...GOLDEN!
Goo company "success" foreshadowing for KBLB:
In the meantime, Widmaier and Breslauer [Bolt Threads] spend a lot of time thinking about how to scale production. A short walk from Bolt Thread’s headquarters sits an old warehouse building, marked simply #58. Inside the 16,000-square-foot space, a few professional-grade knitting machines and sewing machines have been set up. The company plans to use the space as a showroom and mini-factory, with textiles in one room and artificial leather in the other. The space is big enough to make metric tons of fiber each year, enough for tens of thousands of shirts. “Every time we put something up for sale, it’s gone almost immediately,” Widmaier says, snapping his fingers. To become a real business, Bolt Threads will need to sell more than a few hundred hats or ties. “For us,” he says, “the scale-up is probably harder than the science.”
The potential is so obvious.
Doesn't take a PhD in Molecular Biology to see it, either.
Every day we move closer and closer to mass production.
Holding the Golden!
