WLP Chartscript scan result for 9/1:
Scan looked for W%R(9) crossing 50 then checked charts for earlier steps in Magic Box setup.
Only 1 for sure:
ERTS shaping up.
Yes penny, lol.
Since I have 15 stocks going at any given time and scan 600 others daily for chart setups (in other words, I spend a lot of time at this) I tend to do my DD, invest/trade accordingly, and then, of necessity, maintain the mindset that I know EXACTLY what I am doing and that each and every day I am going to kick a-- because of preparation and skill.
So I feel much better not being included in any moron vibes!
LOL ;)

Please speak for yourself and leave "we" out of it.

GO NEOM!

Thanks guys.
copying the url from the properties did the trick, I think some of the other stuff I was getting from the url field was associated with my favs list or something.
BTW, I was trying to post this on another board. But it looks like a Magic Box tried to start a few days ago. What about this chart indicates that it still might be (pending W%R confirmation), or might have broken down? Thanks for the education.
Thanks again!
jonesie
trade4, finally ;)
I agree, waiting on W%R(9) to cross 50 to buy more.
Wow, so I can't just copy the url out of the address field while my chart is displayed in my browser? Ouch.
Thanks.
jonesie
oops, sorry, I'll stop playing with this here, forgot to take the http stuff out.
d-k, that's what I did before, although I see that the url you just posted is different from the url I get when I copy the url in my address field while my chart is displayed. For instance, yours ends with r=2005 and mine ends with pref=G. Also yours says chart=chid and mine says c=chid.
Strange. I'm a subscriber to stockcharts.com and this chart is in one of my favorites list, I wonder if that makes a difference?
Here's my url again:
http://stockcharts.com/def/servlet/SC.web?c=CHID,uu[g,a]dhcayyay[dc][pb50!b100!b150!b200!c5!d20,2][v...

How'd you get that chart to show in the body of the post?
I can't get it to.
Here's the link: It's "mega" size, but I've tried to post "small" size on the Test board and I guess I'm doing something wrong.

Help?
Trying to learn how to post a chart, here or elsewhere
Chart is here: http://stockcharts.com/def/servlet/SC.web?c=CHID,uu[g,a]dhcayyay[dc][pb50!b100!b150!b200!c5!d20,2][v...
Isn't the trick to put bracket chart close bracket in front of the link with the http:// removed, then at the end put bracket / chart close bracket at the end?
What am I missing?
TIA
jonesie
I agree.
I bought more on the drops and now I'm waiting for W%R (9) to get over the 50, that will be a good sign IMO.
jonesie
I got stockcharts.com to add ILKG to their database today.
Couldn't get a stockcharts chart on it before.
Normally use Fidelity ActiveTraderPro for charts but I can't get them to add Aroons to their indicator list.
Anyway, just FYI on the stockcharts.com availability.
jonesie
p.s. Who says we're slow here in the South? ;) That IS sad that things are taking so long. N.O. in August is rough enough when you can duck into air conditioning every now and then. Can't believe there was no team on "ready" with a serious action plan to plug levees with tools/resources at the ready. Okay, end of rant.
Yep, Fidelity showing it as a corrected trade.
20K shares at 9:36 a.m. at .0365. Doesn't even show on Fidelity's chart now thank goodness, messes up charts/indicators when it does that LOL

Novartis offers $4.5B for rest of Chiron
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
United Press International
09:31 a.m. 09/01/2005
BASEL, Switzerland, Sep 01, 2005 (United Press International via COMTEX) -- Switzerland's Novartis AG offered $4.5 billion Thursday to buy the rest of Chiron Corp., the troubled California vaccine maker, it doesn't own.
Novartis already holds a 42.2 percent stake in Chiron, whose British flu vaccine operation was found to be contaminated and whose German vaccine plant experienced similar problems.
If the offer is accepted, it would be a bargain for Novartis because Chiron's troubles have depressed its share price.
Analysts said the offer appeared to be an attempt to "clean up" the management and operations of the 5,300-employee company.
CHIR, wow.
I'm relatively new here, so CHIR was the "pick" for August? That's what "board stock" means?
Wow.
jonesie
One more to watch
for a Magic Box setup. This is earlier stage than the ones listed in my previous post, W%R hasn't come up to 50.
ERTS
Not very pretty, but the lower BB scan picked it up.
jonesie
d-k:
So far I haven't been able to coerce anyone into writing that chartscript for me so I've been working with it myself ;)
Actually I just came back to post something to you and re-read this post of yours and I guess "great minds think alike", the easiest way for me to get started WAS to work backwards, that's what I've been doing.
I wrote a simple chartscript that looks for the W%R (9) having crossed over 50. I had to pick some point lower than that for W%R having crossed UNDER, so I arbitrarily picked 80. It seems that in most situations where the price has hit the lower Bollinger Band, W%R has at least been below 80 around that same time. If you have another thought on that let me know.
Anyway, I ran that chartscript on about 600 stocks I have in various watch lists in WLP and lo and behold, the first one that popped out (out of about 40 that the scan turned up at the close today) was GE.
It looks like GE hit the lower BB (20,2) yesterday when the Aroon Down (8) was 100. GE printed a white candle today and the Aroon Down ticked down to 87.50. Also today the W%R (9) crossed over 50 after being down below 80 earlier.
That's nearly the Magic Box, right?
jonesie
p.s. Running the scan and a performing a quick manual chart check turned up the following possible Magic Box candidates as of the close today: GE, SBC, AEOS, BOOM, DIOD, SRDX, ALTR, FISV, XRAY, PQUE, KRY, T

re: "Comparisons to Neom have been drawn."
No they haven't. I recognized a guy here yesterday from 5 years ago in another stock and I mentioned that stock to make the connection with HIM. No comparisons between companies were drawn.
To answer your question, CYBR was run by a shyster who relentlessly put out NR's about fake deals and fake LOI's every other day to run his price up. It was all bogus. It was PR-o-rama. The company is nonfunctioning and has been in that boat for quite some time. Last year formal announcement came out about SEC charges brought against him and other officers, and against an "independant analyst" who touted the company, then was found to have been compensated in shares, he's on the SEC hook too since that was never disclosed.
True, once burned thrice shy and that experience has paid for itself many times over by saving me tons of money in the years since by keeping me away from companies where I smell a skunk. I went through that experience and I'm here in NEOM in a big way and I continue to buy. I don't smell any skunks here at all.
I'm GLAD that NEOM does not put out unnecessary PR's. I'm GLAD that NEOM apparently does not concern themselves with the day to day share price. It makes ME feel better that they don't, and tomorrow's share price be hanged, I WANT it to drop lol, cuz I'm still in buying mode. No pain no gain.
jonesie
One would think so.
The "good" thing is .. the chart looks really oversold.
;)
Has anyone been able to buy any at 1.30-1.40? Thinking about doubling down here ... but then I think maybe they want to take it lower than the first trading price. Wait, they already did.
OT: Penny
All I can hear in my head is "When the Levee Breaks" and it's sad, freaking me out.
Sorry for the OT on Kat.

Sure, it's okay.
Any website that you want to install cookies in your system will re-install them.
I have several website passwords saved as cookies, and if I deleted them I would have to re-enter them.
Except between Windows and Norton Password Manager, my passwords are pretty much entered automatically anyway.
So, deleting cookies is not a big deal.
Why, hit the wrong button? ;)
OT lol chuck ...
Yeah, I knew what you meant, thank goodness this board doesn't have a Spelling Monitor, those are pains on other boards ;)
QEPC CEO just on CNBC, stock popped 30%+ in 3 minutes.
Flooring repair kits.
Wow, amazing to watch. Yeah, just watched. Back down to 20% up.
jonesie
"they actually finalized a LOI... and that's HUGE!"
Good point moxa and I agree totally. I see lots of other companies with LOI's out their ears and nothing ever happens. NEOM just showed, IMO, that they aren't blowing smoke when they say they are going to do a deal.
jonesie
chuck:
"PR news about the paint division and Chuna but cannot bring us up to date on other matters"
One is material news and the other would be "updates".
I believe success answered that already and I for one am comfortable with the logic in what NEOM is doing PR-wise. Also I "think" NEOM is NOT concerned about day to day share price movements (just like me except for using dips to buy more) and is going to unleash back to back to back to back PR's ... when the time is right.

penny, no similarities really.
Other than things like stocks go up, stocks go down. ;)
One thing that CYBR did would be really fun here though ... it went from sub-$1 to $40 in a matter of weeks. Ever been in one that did that?
jonesie
d-k, thanks for the emphasis on "75 or lower".
I'll certainly pass on any chartscript that gets developed.
jonesie
Ken, thank you for your comments and questions to consider.
I will certainly post the output of any chartscript that gets developed.
I need to quantify "at or near the lower BB". Just to get it started, what + or - percentage would you or d-k think would be a good range to use for proximity to the lower BB?
jonesie
Ken, I posed the chartscript question in the WLP discussion forum. What I am trying to get to is a chartscript that would do a multi-stock scan looking for the Magic Box setup.
Here is how I asked the question, please let me know if I got something wrong.
===================================================
This uses a one-year daily chart.
It only looks for an entry point.
Indicator settings are:
Bollinger Bands (20,2)
Aroon(8)
Wm%R(9)
It's basically a two-day pattern with a "wait" step for confirmation.
What kicks it off is:
Day 1: a close with a red candle on or near the lower Bollinger Band, and at the same time the Aroon Down sitting at 100 on the indicator.
Day 2: a close with a white candle, and the Aroon Down drops to 87.50.
That sets the stage, THEN:
Day 3 (or possibly a few days later) the Aroon Down comes to the 75.00 and Wm%R crosses the -50% (heading towards 0)
THAT is the buy.
HGR is a good example of this, with June 7th, 8th and 9th setting the stage, then it took until June 13th to confirm with the Wm%R coming through the 50.
So, do you think it would it be possible to create a chartscript that could do a multi-scan on a watch list that would look for this setup?
=========================================================

jonesie

Yep, thought that was you. I remember. What a learning experience, CYBR lol. Glad I "had" that experience, as expensive as it was, it saved me 10x that much later by honing my scam radar to a razor edge. Oops, knock on wood.
Yes, saw pictures, I was pretty much glued to the Weather Channel from 5 a.m. yesterday morning until late last night, worried, then again this morning, horrified. I was letting her and the people who had evac'd to her house from Mobile know what was going on yesterday, they didn't have much outside contact, forgot batteries for the radio and battery-TV lol.
She evac'd during Ivan and Dennis and just wasn't going to do it this time. I remember Dennis hitting Navarre directly.
Geez, we oughta have a drink and talk CYBR (yuk, j/k) next time I'm down that way, which won't be long if she has her way, trees to cut up. I make it a quick trip though ... I'm a 140mph projectile going down I85/I65 ;)
jonesie
diamondtech, ohmigosh...
That stuff is SO old, years old. But you probably knew that.
firebird and guttwrench were/are denizens of the RB BIFT/BIFS board LOL what a scam, what a hoot.

Personalizit:
My daughter lives in Fairhope, AL very close to Mobile Bay with my 3 grandsons. Her husband is in Afghanistan with the Army National Guard. I was scrambling around Sunday on the web to find out how far above sea level her house is because she was determined to ride it out. Turned out okay, no power (thank goodness for cellphones and sturdy cell towers) but minimal damage to the house, some big trees down in back and of course lots of missing shingles and shutters. She said the same thing, LONG storm, it just wears things out.
Compared to the carnage west of her she feels very lucky too.
jonesie
p.s. apologies since I think I asked you this already ... were you ever in CYBR? Years ago?
beigledog, my results are mixed in my trading account.
Compared with July 29, the last trading day in July ... I'm dead even at the moment.
Taking the entire summer into account ... if I had "sold in May and gone away" ... I'd be 10% better off than I am now.
My own fault though, I missed a couple of no-brainer plays, and I didn't go in big enough on a few that I WAS in.
I had a heckuva Sept. '04 through May '05, so I'm not too bothered by it, plus, I'm spending a lot of time learning some new approaches to this TA thing, this summer has been sort of "back to school" time for me and I've only traded half-heartedly.
Maybe by next year I won't even consider "sell in May and go away", hopefully I'll be that much further up the learning curve and having too much fun.

d-k re: WLP
Don't hesitate to use the discussion forums available in WLP, I used the newbie forum; post a question about something you want to do and the reponses are amazing. In my case, the desired chartscript was posted and all I had to do was copy/paste it into WLP and away I went.
