It would save on shipping costs.
I think the Hinges are a new order to the existing door-lock cases orders.
BMG parts are increasing in Tesla cars.
With Tesla assembling cars in U.S. it would make sense to transfer any orders to lqmt.
re Crispy_2014 link.
Damn, so now we now why lqmt spiked Friday afternoon, l2 is getting ready to dump once his sheep take the bait.
Very insightful. Especially with the LTE needs.
It seems to me the only angry folks are the sellers who got caught with their pants down last October 27 when Li finalised both tranches 2 months early.
Which, not coincidentally, was announced on the very same day that Apple was holding its Keynote event launching several new products.
Those sellers where doing the same old 'wash rinse repeat' trades, Selling into the Apple Hype rally and then buy back after hopes are dashed and lqmt falls in price.
But Steipp gave them his going away lesson.
Ever since then they have been trying hard to drive down the price and get back in under their 16-17 sale price.
No worries Tlsmd, Nice to have knowledgable members post sensible yet cautious opinions based on technicals, you predicted it before it happened.
Grateful to have your posts instead of the garbage repeatedly posted about some nonsensical hangman.
Damn what happened ?! Had an early start to the weekend, a good ol liquid lunch to finish of the week and when i checked now lqmt popped 10% for no apparent reason.
Good times ahead folks.
oh man, that crushed my unicorn.
Still, the figure is just the beginning of the good times to come.
Once Apple does it the competition will copy, creates demand that many companies will be happy to supply. Do a quick search for Amorphous suppliers etc.
http://metglas.com/
http://www.prometaltech.com/
https://www.alibaba.com/showroom/amorphous-metal.html
http://www.hitachi-metals.co.jp/
CNY416m about USD60m.
From Just one Company, for Just one part, of Just one small volumed Model X car, for Just half a year !
As you noted, with further Tesla models, full production, other car manufactures, this number will greatly increase.
Prof. Li will make a killing from his lqmt shares. So will the rest of us
Only 250k shares traded, has to be a record low.
3 of those suppliers are Eontec customers.
Anyone can manufacture generic BMG just as long as they don't use CIP patents or the LiquidMetal trade marks.
Thanks for proving my point sparky, as you correctly pointed out, if Apple advertised the use of Corning Gorilla Glass then all of its competitors can make the same claim and possibly boast that they use newer versions of Gorilla glass than Apple.
But only Apple has the right to use the "LiquidMetal" trade name and as such will be able to differentiate their devices from the crowd, who now also claim to make beautiful products from Aluminium.
Its not just about achieving lower cost one step manufacturing but needing a Superior case and Finish than is currently available with Aluminium. While manufacturing won’t be one step, it will certainly cut out many steps currently involved with CNC. It could also simply be for the purpose of making iDevices waterproof and impossible for third party servicing. BMG commercialisation won’t be as how we here would like it to be but it will publicise LiquidMetal.
Coat/plate for the purpose of giving consumers color and /or texture choices. Instead of anodising expensive Series 7000 aluminium, Coat/plate a cheaper preform with LiquidMetal in several durable chip resistant colours and textures.
Agree with k.i.s.s. and while thin sheets that are cut then hot formed will be very cheap if used, this is a new Apple that makes Solid gold and ceramic watches, hard to predict how they will apply BMG externally to their products, internally small cheap BMG parts are used to make them perform magically/reliably.
Apart from superior external casing and coating benefits that would be cheaper than the current CNC and anodising of S7000 Al, Apple being able to claim that their products are cased/protected with LiquidMetal would help to differentiate them from all the competitors, from a marketing perspective thats priceless.
No other manufacture can make the same claim or use the same trade mark.
Competitors can claim Metallic Glass etc, but they can't use those magical words “LiquidMetal”
While to those with knowledge about BMG might think its a simplistic inefficient use of Amorphous Alloys, to the 100’s millions of Apple fans it will be an amazing revelation, one that only Apple can claim.
Eontec can handle manufacturing the BMG sheets and hot forming them over completed iPhones, or supply the BMG powder for "Depositing" but Li wont profit from his lqmt shares unless he can transfer some of those orders to LMT, and Apple wont be able to differentiate its BMG unless it promotes it as 'LiquidMetal'
So it might not be mass commercialisation of Injection molding, but if its marketed as LiquidMetal that will be a Huge win for lqmt and Li's 405 m shares.
Thanks to new poster Jbrokesh for the update on Turing.
Kiitos paljon.

Thanks for posting proof of the Plagiarism.
Patently Apple is slow, those patents where revealed by Gamesc yesterday
http://investorshub.advfn.com/boards/read_msg.aspx?message_id=130009120
Yeah lets see how many other sites catch on, might be a nice price close this Friday, hurry up shorties, close out your positions before the weekend.
1- Penny Stock.
2- Private investors don’t have the deep pockets of Institutions/Funds.
3- All News regarding LQMT is not being publicised on Wall St.
4- Investor Fatigue.
But what you should be really asking is... Why is the volume soo Low?
Cause everyone is holding tight onto lqmt, Very very few are selling.
LiquidMetal is an awesome brand name. If/when Apple uses it to market its Devices no other competitor would be able to make the same claim or use the trademark.
All other competitors will be stuck with plain old steel or aluminium while Apple will be the only one allowed to promote LiquidMetal devices. Magical
Yes Apple can sublicense anyone to manufacture for them and not pay lqmt, But if they use Prof. Li's BMG then they have to pay up.
If Apple contracts lqmt in any way to manufacture any parts then we earn money.
I believe thats one avenue Prof. Li is chasing, to become one of the suppliers for Apple.
lqmt has a good chance of supplying parts for the low volume iPhone Edition.
But even if that does not happen, Apple using BMG will bring attention to lqmt and its manufacturing methods. Thats priceless publicity. Especially if Apple markets it as 'LiquidMetal'.
Lqmt's CIP patents are protected by Apple and Eontec, so no-one can screw this penny stock company.
So much smoke, waiting for the FireStorm to ignite.
Maybe the limited supply iPhone Edition will use some of these patents,
but if not Automotive will be HUGE for Prof. Li's investment,
we'll all go along for the ride all the way to Big Board Listing.
re Gamesc's last patent link.
Wow. Apple is looking at many different ways to use the amazing qualities of BMG.
Holograms or using Diffraction Grating to 'create' color.
Now we can add the Touch Bar on the new MacBook Pro as another part that Apple uses BMG to make it work 'magicly'
Yes Fig. 3 Nice to see them test 8 different manufacturing methods, they are very serious about getting it right, And then the very next Fig. 4 is an iPhone.
Is anymore proof needed that a BMG case is what Apple is working towards, no doubt about it.
First there was Carbon Fibre laminates,
Then Carbon Fibre laminates weaved with titanium,
Now there is Carbon Fibre laminates weaved with lqmt.
Automotive and Aeroplane Panels anyone?
BMW already has drive shafts made from composites weaved with titanium to reduce weight, lqmt will replace titanium.
re 3 CIP patents posted by Gamesc.
These 2 patents alone shows Apple is deadly serious about applying metallic glass over Electronic devices.
The patent doc also show real life pictures, this work is well advanced,
also interesting to see many of the inventors reside in Japan.
You need to pay close attention to Joshuaeyu's posts.
Li is going to make a killing with his lqmt shares, as will the rest of us.
Interesting, so Prof. Li's APP Joints is closing in Germany and he may rebrand it under lqmt in U.S.
Thats one heck of a "transfer orders to the domestic"
