DigitalOcean Holdings ( DOCN -1.20% ) has found an edge in the smaller end of the market. It focuses on serving small to mid-sized businesses, and it's beating its competitors on price, service, and ease of use.
DigitalOcean makes deploying virtual machines simple with a suite of one-click features, and its services are up to 41% cheaper than AWS depending on the configuration. And at $0.01 per gigabyte per month for bandwidth, it's 80% cheaper than its nearest competitor. Whether you're building apps, managing databases, or in need of storage, DigitalOcean's monthly plans range between $0 and $15 as a starting point, making them affordable for even the smallest of start-ups.
The company now serves over 609,000 businesses, with its revenue per customer hitting an all-time high of $65.87 in 2021. DigitalOcean estimates that by 2025, its annual market opportunity will be worth $145 billion. Given it generated just $429 million in revenue last year, it has a long runway for growth.

Akamai Technologies Inc. stock (NASDAQ: AKAM) is up more than 10% in the past month (21 trading days), outperforming the S&P 500 which was up almost 6% over this period. If you look at the change over the last five and ten days, too, the stock has risen 3.2% and 9% respectively, outperforming the broader markets on both occasions. Akamai’s most recent FY ’21 earnings saw revenue rise to $3.46 billion, up from $3.2 billion in FY ’20. Further, a slower rise in operating expenses meant that operating profit widened from $659 million to $783 million over this period. Despite a rise in net interest expense and a higher effective tax rate, net income rose from $557 million to $652 million over this period, with EPS rising from $3.43 to $4.01.

Research firm Gartner points to an emerging AI variant. Called "generative" AI, it builds original, realistic artifacts from data. It'll be used for creating software code, drug development and targeted marketing. By 2025, Gartner expects generative AI to account for 10% of all data produced, up from less than 1% currently.
Other AI companies to watch include information technology services firms such as IBM, Accenture (ACN), and Epam Systems (EPAM). Palantir (PLTR) and IBM recently partnered to sell AI services.

At its annual spring conference on March 22, chip maker Nvidia (NVDA) touted its software-based development tools to build artificial intelligence applications.
"Nvidia is building an AI ecosystem that is emerging as a de-facto standard," said Jefferies analyst Mark Lipacis in a report.
"AI is not a 'killer app' as much as a 'killer-app' incubator," said Credit Suisse analyst John Pitzer, who follows NVDA stock, in a report. Still, NVDA stock is down 6% in 2022.
Venture capitalist Marc Andreessen once observed how "software is eating the world" by remaking industries through automation. In the same way, artificial intelligence is expected to modernize software.
AI and low-code/no-code tools are transforming software development, said a RBC Capital report in November. "These efficiencies allow for rapid development with applications going from ideation to production in record times," said the RBC report.
The AI software market is expected to jump 21.3% to $62.5 billion in 2022, forecasts market research firm Gartner.

Marathon Oil Corporation (NYSE:MRO) is a very attractive total yield (i.e., dividend yield plus buyback yield) oil and gas exploration and production play. Most of its production comes from the Eagle Ford Basin in Texas and the Bakken area in North Dakota and Montana. Value investors are attracted to it due to its low price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio, growing dividend, huge free cash flow (FCF), huge buybacks, and quarterly rising dividend payments. The bottom line is that MRO stock is an attractive dividend and buyback yield company for investors.

You are right! No reason at all
Inflation is at its highest level in 40 years. The consumer price index (CPI) surged 7.9% over the last 12 months, the biggest spike since 1982. Unfortunately, the inflation rate might not cool off anytime soon, given the persistent supply chain issues and spiking energy prices following Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
This elevated level of inflation is painful as a consumer. However, some companies benefit from inflation, which can boost returns for their investors. Two inflation-fighting stocks to consider are Brookfield Infrastructure ( BIPC 1.77% )( BIP 1.85% ) and W.P. Carey ( WPC 0.09% ). Both offer attractive dividends along with inflation-powered earnings upside.
