Meowza,
I can keep my Type II about 6.7 by restricting calories to about 1800 daily with occasional slip-ups. Metformin never seemed to do anything when I was taking it.
Dave
My Vascepa Research Study of One,
In 2012 diagnosed with 2 blockages in left descending arteries via catheterization, one 65% blocked, one 75%blocked, also type II diabetes.
Cardio said I could try diet and losing weight which I did and lost 30 ponds.
For 10 years low dose statin and vascepa, kept ldl in 70-80 range. Never had any angina or cardio episodes
In 2022 a new cardio tested me again with a nuclear stress test and I think echo imaging.
He said I had one blockage of 50 percent.
I don't know how accurate the second imaging was, but I'll take it.
I'm 82 now. Usually brisk walk 1-2 miles each day.
Dave
Capt, But if LDL-c is not a predictor of cardiac events, is your rise in LDL-c significant? Also, is Vascepa "super charging" statins, OR, is it ADDING prevention via the anti-Inflammatory affect, or some other unknown effect? Dave
Ram, Your CONFIRM-IT study suggestion I like. Are there enough Board members who have been taking Vascepa for say 5 years? And what are their anecdotal results regarding Cardiac episodes. Would they be willing to share? And would we get representation from those for whom V did not work? Any other possible reasons for doing it or not?
Dave
Capt, Recently did a test of V vs Dr Reddy's GV. One of each in different sides of my mouth. Both capsules melted at the same time, about 30-45 seconds. Neither tasted any different. Also emptied one of each capsule in two separate styrafoam cups. Each ate through the bottom of each cup at the same time and with the same area eaten away. Are all GV brands manufactured by the same firm?
I will have some more of each in a couple days if you need more tests.
Dave
Dukes,
You are correct. This is the info sheet that Walgreens staples on to your prescription bag. (And Walgreens provides Vascepa as well) I don't know if Walgreens writes it, or Dr. Reddys. And I wonder if it is the same wording as when I get Vascepa. I will check my next refill when they give me Vascepa. It's clear that the writeup is claiming the same Indication for the Generic as for Vascepa, Triglycerides plus CVD. Dave
Dukes, Dr Reddy's Generic V Insert from pharmacy.

Dukes,
I have a picture of the insert but can't figure out how to attach it.
How do you attach an image to these messages?
I'll keep trying.
Dave
Rafun,
Sure on the amateur tests of the capsules. The expiration date is 1 year, 2/16/24. As far as smell, I just chewed one up in my mouth. Taste is not objectionable. Not sour or rancid. No odor to speak of. The color looks very clear, not yellow as I suspected. The capsule itself has now dissolved in my mouth!
I tried attaching images of the inserts from my laptop. How do you do that with the board messages? I can take a side by side picture of the capsules.
I accepted the generic because I figured 30 days on generic wouldn't kill me and then I'll be back on tract. Dave
Rafun,
FYI Walgreens just filled my V prescription with Dr Reddys generic. Apparently doc didn't specify Vascepa, just icoapent ethyl capsules.
Walgreens said they would change it to Vascepa for subsequent refills.
Interesting info on the inserts: They claim it is "used with other cholesterol lowering drugs for cvd issues." They say the retail price is 334.69 and the insurance saved me 329.69. I did pay 5 bucks for a 1 month supply. Vascepa costs me 30 for the one month. Dave

G550,
Thanks a lot. I'll try it.
Dave
Dj,
Thanks for the feedback from TDA. I assume that TDA is Neutral and their advice unbiased. I'll probably wait a few days and use the 1 number(for 2 accounts) as you wrote, and vote FOR !
Dave
Michael,
Why don't they show how many shares are associated with each control number BEFORE you vote?
Also, all 3 (statements for learning) on proxyvote are written by current Amarin, non by the Blue side.
I think I'll keep checking before voting.
Dave
Michael,
I have 2 accounts with TDA each with AMRN. I just called TDA and they gave me only ONE Control Number for both. I'm confused if you got one for each.
Dave
"NO-RESPECT-EPA" Until we get a research study that directly compares Vascepa vs Statin, or Vascepa vs Non-Vascepa, Vascepa "ain't got no respect." My otherwise excellent cardiologist, sees no benefit in me taking Vascepa when I am not taking a Statin. He says Vascepa gets its results from being linked with Statin, not by itself. (After 8 years on Statin and Vascepa, my Statin exacerbated a kidney decline. A year off Statin and the Kidney function is improving). Currently on Vascepa and Aspirin. The Cardiologist humors me about my desire to continue taking Vascepa, but I am thankful that he honors my request.
I wonder how many other Cardios feel the same way?
Dave
Whalatane,
Thanks for your generous offer of assistance. I do have a cardiologist and a nephrologist, both caring and competent. My eGFR has improved from 27 to 33 since I stopped the statin, and I went from feeling like a vegetable to doing physical activities once again. So my plan is to continue for a while and see where the number goes. I've tried restarting with 4 different statins but the same physical effect. But I do appreciate your kind offer. Dave A
rosemount,
i like your "big picture" logic regarding omega 3 benefits. Seems like a "no-brainer" to have included in Reduce-it another treatment Arm of non-statin patients.
I've been on statins and vascepa with good results for 8 years, but now it seems like the statins have taken a toll on my kidneys. When I told the Cardioligist I wanted no more statin but would stay on Vascepa, his response(a correct one) was that they had to be taken together for any proven benefit. But I am now on V and off Statins. Told him I'd rather die of a heart attack than kidney failure.
Has there been any trial where Vascepa proved itself effective for CVD on its own, ie, not coupled with a statin as in Reduce-IT? Not everyone tolerates statin, so is it beneficial to take Vascepa alone for CVD?
Where is EDDY traded? TD Ameritrade only shows EDDYF. Are they the same?
dave
Kiwi,
Never had angio or stents.
Some walking but not as before last year's statin problem.
Yesterday doing carpentry work at son's place.
Pace myself,
Dave
KIWI,
At 71 they said I had a couple 70 percent closed arteries. Crestor 5mg and Vascepa kept Chol at 75. No problems.
Last year 80, I found myself with no muscle strength and pain around liver and kidney decline for 6 mos. Stopping Crestor on my own, the symptoms went away.
That's when I asked for Lipitor and began spacing the days. So far so good. Will get a chol check next month. Strength and pain gone, and feel normal for 81.
Thanks jfmcrr,
You are a voice of Experience.
I asked to switch from Crestor to Lipitor, and am trying to work towards every an every other day dose.
Dave
Thanks Rose,
I'm still on V and experimenting with different statin dosing regimens.
Vascepa Benefit: My cardiologist says Vascepa shows 25% CVD Benefit ONLY when taken with Statin. Is this correct? (I was having issues with statins, and asked him about dropping the Statin and taking only Vascepa) Dave
Would the Bayer-Baby Aspirin scenario be the model sales/distribution that Amarin should emulate. How did Bayer get everyone in the world to know of the heart benefits of aspirin. And recent guidelines say that it is still beneficial to all with any suspicion of CVD.

What are suggestions for initiating some kind of "bottoms up" groundswell of recognition among the general populace. The "top down" approach doesn't seem to be working. Dave
Thanks, my United Healthcare uses UHC. Too many acronyms!
UNH? What is UNH?
Did U notice this in that same report?
Quote:
......Surprisingly, and in contrast to our knowledge of COVID-19 so far, the older patient actually fared better. These moderate COVID-19 cases join our previous experience with severe, hypoxic COVID-19 and septic patients (case series of three other severe COVID-19 patients not yet published, case report for IPE use in severe pancreatitis currently under review), demonstrating the utility of IPE in acute inflammatory states and specifically with COVID-19 infections.
dave
??Only Patients w/high Triglycerides?? Do the new Evaporate results apply only to patients with High Triglycerides. The ACC article on Evaporate says that in the Title. My friend with serious placque issues was denied Vascepa because her Triglycerides were not high enough.

Irishman, May the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob be gracious and merciful to you and your family through the Power of the resurrected Christ. See you back on the Board soon.
Greymatter,
I believe the dark forces against Amarin could be a simple, non written agreement among BP to DELAY, by whatever means, the bringing of Vascepa to market. I suspect that BP's research labs are desperately trying to come up with the exact mechanism which makes EPA work(which is not known by Amarin). Once BP can explain the mechanism, they will have a new patent that leaves Amarin behind. Just a theory. Dave
North, Agree and more,
I had always wondered if all of Amarin's setbacks were due to an effort by BP to just "slow down" Amarin's progress until BP could bring to market similar drugs. And the "slow down" may have included funding the Generics.
Just think of the time gained by BP because of the Generics.
Dave
Is census thing in my snail mail a scam?
Is census thing in my snail mail a scan?
JT should make a settlement offer with a MAX that will decline a certain percentage as each day goes by.
So without TG over 150, a CVD patient with diabetes, doesnt get V???
Could Delay to the 28th be a favor to BP to get into the next tax year, 2020?
(Sorry if this has already been mentioned)
VB, Question: So the label will be able to say that Vascepa will keep you from dying if you have cardio issues? Dave
Kiwi, I'm with you. I decided to hire out the sheetrock. 5/8 fire rated is just too much, even with Vascepa.
Dave
