Mary,
I'll trust that the NPCT link is the same info included in the link in the Ibox for NPCT here at IH. There is a lot more than a "tiny" bit of opinion in that post. I did pick it apart on the ADAPT thread. you might find a few more suggestions from improving your style there.
The Bird of Prey
What is the point of embedding a 1 x 1 image?
This is the kind of thing that causes people to question your motivation and agenda. If you want to embed the picture you wish the interent to view as you, make the picture as small as possible so that loading it doesn't hinder the folks on standard modems ability to enjoy the site.
I am aware that Diverdan has three images in his sigline. he mostly keeps his post to one thread and you typically don't see them unless you read that thread. However it is not my place to him or anyone else what they can and cannot include in their sig line. I made a suggestion based on being polite and considerate.
The Bird of Prey
OK
Then we can start tonite.
As an Example...
Instead of "This stock is a SCAM, Fraud, POS, etc."
Try "This Stock has some questionable elements"
Instead of "The CEO is a Liar, Crook, Thief, Scumbag, etc."
Simply say "The CEO has been investigated, charged, convicted, etc of XXX by the SEC"
Instead of "XXX is a lying scumbag paid promoter"
Try "XXX says they received xxxx shares, cash, etc. in exchange for providing a review or including a review of this stock in their newsletter/website"
It's quite simple really. Two things that you've not been successful with. One, getting to know the folks here at IH. Not everyone is a paid promoter, hypster scumbag. Sure there are some folks that brought their reputations with them. And I'm sure Matt will deal with them in time. But you can't simply jump into a conversation throwing major bad vibes all in everyones face and expect to be greeted with smiles. You have to respect the feelings of others. Especially if you are absolutely right. Which leads to number two, you don't earn respect by cursing, namecalling and flaming everyone that disagrees with you all the time. Further, it's very unbecoming to whine about the inequities and injustice of rules enforcement. Certainly if the infraction is serious enough it should be reported. But be careful not to become a thorn in the admin's side lest you get ignored.
Inclosing there is one very old rule that applies quite well for these situations.
Do unto others, as you would have them do unto you.
Not everyone will follow that bit of advice, but those that do will be better off for it.
The Bird of Prey
Are you being serious?
If so I will gladly provide you with a few relevant examples of how you could get your point accross without attacking anyone.
The Bird of Prey
While there has been no official word from Matt on the topic, it was generally agreed among several folks (a few days ago) that use of emoticons in ones sig line was acceptable as long as the file size was small enough not to affect load times of those users on standard modem connections. As a result Several folks using large images eliminated them from the sig line (myself included).
It would be considered that using an image larger than 16 x 16 pixels and/or 250 bytes in size would be a breach of etiquette and inconsiderate of one's fellow users. Those that choose to continue to infringe on the abilities of others to enjoy the site should be dealt with accordingly.
FTR, I am on a DSL connection, so load time is not a factor for me. But I will still be considerate of those that, for whatever reason, aren't on a high speed connection. Whether it is a written and enforced rule or not.
The Bird of Prey
Personally, I would much rather talk about technical analysis as that is how I make all my buy/sell decisions. However, I have found few who can discuss this topic intelligently.
After a quick review of your posting history the above comment is not surprising. Perhaps you would have more success in locating the type of user you wish to exchange with if you frequented some other boards. Last time I checked, Q&A, OTCBB SCAMS, and the Jailhouse weren't exactly hotbeds of TA discussion. There is even a board dedicated to TA (CHART) that I would love to have people exchanging ideas at, even though I have no administrative duty at that board. Poet has also suggested the COMPX board and there are a couple of other boards with a TA theme (Pirate Traders & Paint the Table).
And last but not least you could always establish you own board at attract the kind of users you're seeking there.
The TA style users are here at IH, you just have to put forth some effort in engaging them. I'm sure JXM would be happy to exchange thoughts on P&F charting. Bernard NG and bbgold on patterns and a variety of indicators are being discussed at MKTSS. I would welcome discussion on just about any aspect of TA myself.
So, now the only portion of your argument unanswered is the level of intelligence. I've named several users above, You'll be hard pressed to describe any of them as unintelligent. Though most are too humble to admit it.
BTW, If I failed to mention anyone interested in TA, rest assured that it was done without any mean spirited intent. I'd have been writing all afternoon if I included everyone.
I think Bob is a TA guy too, only an idiot would say he isn't intelligent.

One need only to review my public posts to visualize the fallicy of this statement...
If anyone challenges him about these things it automatically lands one in "jail". His Egoness can't take what he dishes out!
I can also name several others that have been critical of management at IH from time to time and did so without serving jailtime or fear of jailtime.
Perhaps it has something to do with the delivery? Avoiding namecalling? presenting logical, rational thoughts instead of derogatory or unflattering graphic descriptions?
BTW,...
Matt, the "bye bye" list is growing longer.

>>I'd like to see a focus on the baiters as well.
I agree. That is one reason I have made an effort to diminish my own "baiting". Since I do not wish to be associated with such negative activity and because one of my flaws is that I derive distinct satisfaction from laying a little smack down on the self righteous.
See IH can help me become a better person! 8>)
Besides I didn't want to end up as IH's MASTER "baiter". *>)
The Bird of Prey
Having been brought up with a strong faith...
become disillusioned concerning that faith...
and had that faith restored...
I could get real argumentative here, but I won't. I do agree that faith is a very personal issue. And foisting one's faith on another can be very intruding, since by it's very nature faith is intimate. Though each of the major religious divisions dictate that a believer must go forth and proselytize, It doesn't have to be done in an overt, in your face, believe or die fashion. That may be the ultimate outcome of having or lacking faith, but we have been given free will and must make our choices on our own. I do not hide my faith and will gladly share it with any that wish to. But I will not force it on those that do not wish to explore that aspect of themselves.
Whether we wish to admit it or not we all have faith...in something...even if it is only ourselves.
The Bird of Prey
Poet,
I've been following the various exchanges here at the jailhouse and wish to offer my take on things. I know you are only working with Joe but some of what I see applies to the other inmates as well.
1. Like it or not there will always be people running around baiting other people into fights, if for no other reason than to get them in trouble. Primarily the reason for this is usually some kind of personal vendetta due to some perceived misconduct by the target. But some folks just get their kicks this way.
2. Some people like being targets. Like Masochists seem to always be able to find a Sadist to meet their needs, certain users seem to have no trouble becoming targets of the folks mentioned above. Definitely a symbiotic relationship.
3. IH is fortunate that there are only a few of the above mentioned posting here. Matt has done his best to make this type of behavior unacceptable and unwelcome. He has even gone above and beyond the call of duty by making a concerted effort to reform some of these types. With a few there has been some success. However the current crop of inmates have been through rehab several times now. Nothing much seems to change about there behavior though.
IMCO, the user you are working with will say anything to get out of jail. He may even follow the correct path for a while, but soon he will return to his old ways and we will be right back here again trying one more time to get him to see the light. Eventually he will become like Matt's other "project" (currently an Inmate) who has been through this so often that contrition isn't even pretended. Knowing that Matt will eventually release the inmate has undermined any potential benefit from the stay in jail.
As much as I would like to continue to hope for a positive end to this dilemma, these inmates give no indication that such hope is warranted.
I agree that these inmates are bright people with the ability to bring useful input into the IH community. But I question the intellect of anyone that demonstrates time and time again the inability or unwillingness to learn.
Although SI's "don't post to or about ____ agreement" appears to be effective. It isn't going to help when these inmates keep creating new groups of users trying to rid themselves of their annoyances.
At this point I believe the solution I have recommended is the only logical option if Matt intends to keep true to his principles (which I believe he does).
It's time to say "bye bye" to both of these troublemakers.

The Bird of Prey
Ok, let's see what I can do here.
First off, the underscore " _ " adding this to your search will produce a small result as it will only grab those sites that used the underscore in conjunction with the search words referenced. Some designers do this on purpose to try and catch the traffic from those that include the underscore in their search term. I don't use it as a primary SE device.
The Plus sign " + " tells the SE to add the term to the search parameter. "party +hats" works the same as "party hats" in most engines.
The Minus sign " - " tells the SE to remove the term from the search results. "party -hats" will produce a list that has all things party...except party hats!
Whenever I'm searching on a multiple word phrase I wrap the phrase in quotes. Otherwise I will get results where the words in the phrase are merely near each other on a page. For example I could get a page ranked highly on the phrase party hats that had as the first few lines..."the girls couldn't get into the party... As they left the wind blew off their boyfriends hats.
Hope this helps!
The Bird of Prey
Certainly!
Though between us, we've covered most of the basics of using an SE. I'll be glad to share what I know and answer any questions I can.
The Bird of Prey
Well,
I'll try. but first let me tell you that if I were researching the term I would have also done searches with the parameters you used. I like to be thorough. I often flip the words in a multiple word search because it gets a different set of results.
In this particular case "hats" is a category and "party" is a subcategory. The rationale is "thinking like a computer" instead of thinking like a person. By placing "hats" first, separating with a comma and following with "party"and enclosing the whole in quotes the computer "thinks" you are looking for an item instead of just the combination of the words "party hats". You could also reverse the terms to see what else would come up.
We could all have a little fun today playing with this principle. For openers try "coal miners" and "miners, coal" The second entry should produce far fewer references to a Country & Western song.
The Bird of Prey
try "hats, party"! eom

I've never found curling on a US broadcast outside of the Winter Olympics. I have managed to catch a few matches on satellite broadcasts. Kinda ticked me off that they relegated it to MSNBC this year. Not everyone is on cable or satellite.
If memory serves curling originated in Scotland, you know where they make a sport of tossing telephone poles around, men wear skirts and the swords they carry into battle are nearly five feet long. Go figure.
In one of her interview's afterward I think Hughes hit the nail on the head explaining what the difference was in her performance and those of her competitors...she went out to have fun, already in fourth, with the best in the world in front of her, she had nothing to lose. Just go out, have a great time, if she gets lucky she gets to stand on the podium. The other skaters, especially Kwan were caught up in the "this is for the gold" mindset, and it showed. All were more rigid perfromances, Kwan seemed almost wooden, particularly compared to her own short program performance from Tuesday.

The Disappearance
Mr. Rhee worked all of his life as an editor for Life Magazine. He never missed a day of work nor did he take vacations. One morning he failed to show up at his usual time. At first his fellow employees thought he might have finally taken a well deserved day off. When he did not show up for the next several days they still though he might be on his first vacation. After two full weeks had passed they began to worry. Upper management was contacted and it was decided that something must be done. The local autorities were called in and a missing persons alert was issued. After a few months of no leads though, the authorites moved on to other cases. The magazine was still concerned about the whereabouts of it's valuable employee and so a Private Investigator was hired. The PI was a young fellow that soon found himself completely immersed in the search for the missing man. Eventually the search became his career. Finally after more than 20 years he decided to give up and told the magazine that he was unable to locate their missing man. Since he had never taken a vacation himself and had saved a substantial sum, he decided that he would take a trip around the world to put this case behind him. He planned to return refreshed and begin his practice again.
At first his trip was working wonders, But at a stop in Switzerland he though he spotted the man he had been looking for all these years. Unable to shake the feeling he continued to follow the individual he had spotted. After a short while the man took a seat at a nearby cafe. Upon observing the man for a short while the PI came to the conclusion that this must be the man he had searched for all these years. Suddenly overcome with excitement and joy he rushed up to the gentleman and shouted,
"Ah! Sweet Mr. Rhee of Life! At last I've found you!

Hey aren't we getting a little OT here? Respond to the message, not the messenger! Instead of targeting BR's motives and "what" he should be posting, try dealing with what he posted.
Simply put, after reviewing the SEC filings he concluded that the company was suffering from negative cash flow (true) and that it's present, documented cash on hand was insufficient to meet the cash flow needs for an extended period of time (also true). He then made a supposition that for the company to continue an influx of cash would be needed (also true). He then postulated that the source of that cash would have to be more debt or more dilution. While these are not the only options, they are the most likely given the history of the company and it's management.
None of this means the company is likely to close inside of sixty days. While possible, it appears that management is not ready to pull the plug at this juncture. More debt or dilution or both would at best halt any upward movement for a time, at worst they could cause a serious resumption of the downtrend. Depending on the amount of cash raised, the method of raising it and any resulting growth we'll soon see where the share price ends up.
Even TA indicates that we may be at the beginning of a period of consolidation. It will take time to digest the gains from the last few months.
As for what one should do with all of this information?
Apply it to your own experience and risk tolerance and act accordingly.

More serious? Frankly, no.
The purpose of the insertion of the invective is shock. The author, for whatever reason, feels the need to shock the opponent in order to gain the upper hand. As long as this method produces results the author feels successful and continues to use shock to try to gain the upper hand and win the argument.
Primary drawback to this method is that over time the shock value of a particular epithet or grouped epithets lose their shock value. As a result, the author will escalate the invective to more shocking quotes or seek some other means of shocking the opponent.
Case in point, study after study have shown that spouse abusers begin with the inclusion of simple profanity to shock their victims into compliance. Over time simple profanity is no longer shocking and the abuser will escalate the action until shock ( and the accompanying compliance) is achieved. Eventually physical force is used to shock the victim into compliance. One of the first things abusers are "taught" in domestic violence avoidance classes is that even the simple profanity is abusive behavior.
So to sum it up Joe, you've pretty much made it clear that in order to get your point across you need to be abusive to anyone listening to your message. As I am not in need of an abusive interchange at this time I will cease and desist all further communication with you until further notice.

NEWS OF THE WEIRD: CHICKEN'S HAVE FEELINGS TOO
In January, after the California restaurant chain, Carl's Jr., began televising a commercial chiding competitors' chicken-nugget meals (the ad: executives examining a chicken in a futile attempt to find a body part called the "nugget"), the animal rights group United Poultry Concerns objected, not just because the chicken was mishandled but because the examination hurt the chicken's feelings (treated the chicken "derisively," United's chief Karen Davis told the Los Angeles Times). Personally I would have to question the motivation of those opposed to "promoting marriage" and "marriage training". I don't see this as a proposal (pun intended) harkening the return of "shotgun weddings" with the government holding the shotgun. It simply is a continuation of the current theme towards more personal responsibility. Have we not all seen the PSA's promoting unwed fathers to get involved with their children? What better way to get involved than to make a life commitment to the mother?
Of course if they really want to promote marriage...
turn the marriage penalty tax into a credit.
BTW, this is not to say that women need men in order to be successful. It may even be truer to say men need women in order to be successful. Same here, I have never lost money either. I have had a few customers claim they lost money. I have little reason to disbelieve them. They indicated amounts ranging from $120 to just over $500. I am uncertain if one of the claimants was refering to "referral" money that PayPal used to payout a long time ago, but the others were all "auction" specialists that refuse to use PayPal as a result.
It is apparently a serious enough issue for someone to devote a website to warning folks about PayPal. I don't see this site asking for any compensation which raises it's level of credibility with me somewhat.
I don't know if a small percentage of disgruntled customers is going to have a serious impact on the potential of this investment. Just one bit of information for one's due diligence.

They are NOT a bank. Your account is NOT FDIC insured. In Fact they user agreement allows them a wide range of privileges, including freezing your account, with little recourse available to the user.
Before using Paypal I would recommend you visit http://www.paypalwarning.com to learn more about PayPal.
Never, ever keep a large amount of Money in your Paypal account. I've not lost any, but I am aware of a few that have.
