Congratulations! I hope your stepson and his girlfriend make a wonderful life together!
I've never found curling on a US broadcast outside of the Winter Olympics. I have managed to catch a few matches on satellite broadcasts. Kinda ticked me off that they relegated it to MSNBC this year. Not everyone is on cable or satellite.
If memory serves curling originated in Scotland, you know where they make a sport of tossing telephone poles around, men wear skirts and the swords they carry into battle are nearly five feet long. Go figure.
In one of her interview's afterward I think Hughes hit the nail on the head explaining what the difference was in her performance and those of her competitors...she went out to have fun, already in fourth, with the best in the world in front of her, she had nothing to lose. Just go out, have a great time, if she gets lucky she gets to stand on the podium. The other skaters, especially Kwan were caught up in the "this is for the gold" mindset, and it showed. All were more rigid perfromances, Kwan seemed almost wooden, particularly compared to her own short program performance from Tuesday.
