Infineon unveils MEMS microphone
Nov. 16, 2006 -- Infineon Technologies AG unveiled a silicon microphone for consumer and computer communications devices that is approximately one-half the size and operates on one-third the power of conventional microphones.
The company says its MEMS-based microphone achieves the same acoustic and electrical properties as conventional microphones, but is more rugged and exhibits higher heat resistance.
Infineon says its microphone can withstand temperatures of up to 260 degrees Celsius and is more immune to vibrations and shocks than conventional microphones. Due to the high temperature-resistance, it can be soldered without difficulty onto any standard PCB and is ideally suited to use on fully automated production lines common to mass market consumer products. A 1.5 to 3.3V power supply slashes the miniature microphone's power consumption to about one third (70 µA) that of ECM microphones.
The microphone consists of two chips, the MEMS chip and an ASIC, both of which share the same package on a surface-mounted device. The MEMS consists of a rigid, perforated back electrode and a flexible silicon membrane that serves as a capacitor, transforming acoustic pressure waves into capacitive variations. The ASIC detects these variations, converts them into electrical signals and passes them to the appropriate processing devices, such as a baseband processor or amplifier. The technology used to manufacture the MEMS microphones was developed at Infineon in Villach, Austria.
The new silicon MEMS microphone broadens the Infineon existing portfolio of mechanical and radio-frequency MEMS products, which include accelerometers, gyroscopes and pressure sensors and bulk acoustic wave filters.
PLFM up 20% today to .024 and almost a million volume before 10:00..
Go PLFM go
I did not attend I just copied and paste from another board..
Hopefully a PR about the meeting will be out soon.
I for one like to know more about the meeting with DOD Dec.1..
Notes part six - the end:
After all this they started on the powerpoint presentations. First was ARC System by Martin, then a little bit on aerostats, then McLean talked about the RECOM and ROSETTA systems. Exhaustion set in and my notes got sketchy.
They set up a little network with a PC and a switch (?) from the RECOM system and handed out cell phones with 900 numbers. To show they were on their own network Mclean pulled the plug while the phones were in use and they all went dead.
From there it degenerated into Q&A.
Finally ended at about 5:40.
Some general observations: Biehler is the replacement for Frank Draper/Bob Harris.
McLean is a simplifier, doesn't assume that you know anything about the technology, which is a good attitude for a shareholders meeting.
Barbara Bennett stayed awake through the whole meeting, which is more than most of the others on the stage were able to do. After the introductions they should have gotten those guys off the stage and into the audience section.
Great little chocolate fudge treats!
THE END<
Notes part five:
Financial report by Nelson Wong.
There was a projection of this but it went up and down pretty quick so I didn't get it all.
October 9, 2005 Board meeting set debt conversion to stock at $.05 a share.
Farber and Hass has started the audit process.
SB-2 form in 2007.
Platforms raised $500,000 in 2006 at two cents restricted stock to pay for the demo and ROSETTA radio work.
Legal - by Rebecca Wilson. April 2007 trial date but could settle before that at a December mandatory settlement conference. Said she was glad she didn't have the prosecutions case!
Notes part four:
RECOM-911 pretty much what's on the web site.
NEW PRODUCT -- ROSETTA-911 (did not get the acronym for this) is an interoperable radio system that Biehler has designed. They spent a lot of time on this, and they think it's pretty hot stuff. ("A lot better and easier to use than Raytheons interop radio" according to Peters afterwards). Works in VHF, UHF, 800 MHz, and cellular phones, allows them to talk to each other. Works in conjunction with the RECOM unit or by itself in a portable version.
Business Plan - very similar to goals section. Martin used the term "San Diego Technology Office" and it was on the projection too. Found out later
Notes part three:
Martin listed Key Goals and Objectives (one page projection):
Audited financial statement for 6/30/2006
SEC Civil complaint resolution - by trial or settlement. He said the SEC has tried to win by putting Platforms out of business.
RECOM-911 and ROSETTA-911 National Demos - with aerostat and DOD money.
Platforms and Lindstrand completing a formal contractual agreement.
RECOM-911 and ROSETTA-911 sales.
Corporate infrastructure build-up, hiring of more people.
Martin talked about the ARC System core technology basis and how RECOM-911 is a transportable spin-off using the original ARC System technology.

Notes part two:
General business report given by Bill Martin about company status, some of this was projected on the screen above the podium so I got notes, but a lot of it was just oral.
Martin said when they took over the company in 2000 it was basically broke. Since then the company has relied upon private placement financing and loans from the officers and directors, to the amount of millions of dollars. He also said that the officers and directors converted their debt (don't have the amount in my notes) to stock at five cents a share last year.
BIG NEWS: Platforms has been asked by the DOD to conduct a "National Demo" next year at a military base with an aerostat -- and the DOD is footing the bill! Lindstrand to supply the aerostat. There is a December 1 meeting with the DOD but the agenda was not given.
Vodafone - "no serious offer" has been received about a buyout, contrary to rumors.
Made a big deal out of the Lindstrand connection and said that the 2 major telecomm companies mentioned in the pr have not allowed their names to be released. One is in a merger (Lucent?) quiet period, while the other is foreign-owned and accounts for 45% of the hardware sales in the world (must be Ericsson). Both were at the demo on Sept 30 and told the DOD that they were partners with Platforms on the new RECOM-911 system.

Cellular Balloons Still Tethered in N.D.
Tuesday October 31, 7:21 pm ET
By James Macpherson, Associated Press Writer
Cellular Balloons Have Yet to Get Off the Ground in North Dakota
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) -- A lofty goal of launching wireless network equipment-carrying balloons in the North Dakota skies to fill gaps in cellular coverage hasn't gotten off the ground.
Space Data Corp., a Chandler, Ariz.-based company that is developing the balloon-borne cellular technology, recently was awarded a military contract that has taken precedence, said Jerry Knoblach, the company's chief executive.
Former Gov. Ed Schafer, who has been pushing the idea of cellular balloon coverage in the state, said the plan is still more than just hot air.
"It's going to happen -- there's just too much demand for it," he said.
The idea is to launch weather balloons some 20 miles above the ground, where stratospheric winds would push them across the state at about 30 mph. Each balloon would deliver voice and data service to an area hundreds of miles in diameter.
Schafer had hoped the hydrogen-filled balloons could be drifting across the stratosphere this summer, providing cellular coverage at a fraction of the cost of building cellular towers.
Extend America, a company started by Schafer and other partners, worked on the cellular balloon project with Space Data, but sold its cell phone business to Nextel Communications Inc. last year and became involved in wireless broadband technology. The plans for trial balloons over North Dakota never got off the ground.
"I'm unhappy we're not making any progress," Schafer said. "My heart is still with getting connectivity to rural areas, especially rural North Dakota."
Knoblach said balloon technology electronics called SkySite are still being developed. Once the balloons transit the state's stratosphere, the electronic gear would be jettisoned remotely and would fall to the earth with a parachute. It would be recovered through a global positioning satellite device.
After the electronic equipment is released, the balloons would rise and expand with the drop in air pressure until they burst.
Knoblach said a contractor is building the equipment for his company. It must fit in a package weighing no more than 6 pounds, the maximum allowed by the Federal Aviation Administration -- in case a jet hits the payload falling to earth, he said.
Knoblach said making workable equipment would involve no more "than a couple of weeks of software time," but his company has other priorities now -- mainly a $49 million Air Force contract for battlefield communications. The contract involves much the same balloon-borne technology as providing rural cell phone coverage, but is specific to military radios, he said.
"It's critical that we put our resources out there for soldiers in the field, fighting the fight," Knoblach said. "We still plan on deploying a voice system in rural areas of the U.S., including the Dakotas -- but I can't tell you a date."
Knoblach said his company has launched thousands of the free-floating balloons in several states to track data for oil company vehicles, wells and pipelines. The balloon-borne cellular technology for rural areas is believed to be the first of its kind, he said.
Jerry Fossum, telecommunications director for the state Information Technology Department, said he saw promise with the cellular balloons when the company first pitched the plan. He said the state does not have money in the project.
"I'm starting to lose a little enthusiasm about it," Fossum said. "They haven't been able to produce -- it's a promise that has not been fulfilled."
Not much volume going on today the meeting is tommorow.
I decided to purchace a few more shares at below .02 cents .
PLFM is having a shareholder meeting forst time in 5 yrs.
PLFM has tested its product in front of the US goverment and 2 leading telecom companies and call me crazy but I like the fac tof increasing share count instead of R/S .
Plus I would rather buy PLFM at .02 cents than GTEM at .27 .
PLFM must get a contract to get the stock moving the goverment just being intrested IMO is worth more than .02 cents ..
lets play the waiting game again...
ITKG will be at the CES show they just won't have a booth the product will be displayed.
Also from the CES web site eletriplast right next to Playstation 3 thats a WOW!

The New Orleans area could have used a system like that. They were not prepared for all their cell towers to go down and their telephone lines to go out, which is why nobody could communicate with them for several days.

Is IDCC working with PLFM?
PLFM.pk (OTC:BB)

This product was tested and proved in front of the US armed forces and its goverment and a former congress member and two leading telecom companies ..

The proxy states a vote for accounting firm (could possibly mean OTC or better)
They have decided NOT to reverse split the stock!!!
FOLKS this is key.
They will increase the shares if needed but thats much better than a R/S.
I am excited again about PLFM its under valued here IMO and I think a contract will be comming around that mountain !
lets get rich and hold long term.
The train is about to leave the station!
toot toot
it doesn't mention anything about a R/S so thats a good thing.
I am just hoping we see some good news to give us a reason to increase the shares..
I recived my proxy today from PLFM
contains a vote for board members
also contains a vote for accounting firm
also contains a vote to increase shares but don't say how many they want to do>
If this is instead of a R/S I would be all for it but they should not do both..

Hi and welcome to mkty board ..
MKTY has had a report by Citibank analist and they reinerate good things are happening at MKTY like the new ceo of MIT micro a division of MKTY and they met their milestone and even inked a deal with Samsung ..
They have a buy and reinterated a $7 price target for it .
The recent sell off by the wilder's clean energy fund sold a ton of shares of MKTY because of its lowered market cap and restrictions the fund must be obtained ..
I think wall street ignores MKTY but I still think MKTY is the leader in the class of the field of battery fuel cells.
please let me know if you join us as a shareholder..
jimlur when will IDCC recive the money from Samsung or is Samsung still fighting with appeals?
Is this a new licence or an old one?
