Yeah this is good news. It seems they are doing well by effectuating the RS and following it with monetization. That takes balls (and strong litigation along with a rock solid patent portfolio) to RS, then pop off settlements to keep the SP comfortably above $5. We could see some TUT and Funds moving in over the next few months.
Why not play the straddle? You just might up your average on earnings plays and get your momo back. GL
Correct....I have to have something to read while my wife watches all her shows that begin with "Real Housewives".... Until football season anyway.
Stickied
In court documents. It is assumed by the dismissal of Novell from the complaint
We shall see how this shakes out. I see this going over like Obama care. Fully expect to see this end up back in the courts hands to slap wrists. Good news: The judge seems to waist no time and has no problem laying down the law (pun maybe intended)
WOW...and ouch lol. Fat fingers be damned
That makes sense as much as anything.
Appreciate the link. Thanks Postyle.
Someone mentioned 4 days I believe? I don't know and I'm not overly concerned about it. We will here something sooner or later.
"As we all know, DSS is awfully quiet on Novell settlement. You can likely assume that Novell must of requested this non-disclosure."
A NDA is SOP in IP assertion settlements. I've learned that its easiest to assume the fact unless otherwise informed.
"This is just an assumption on my part but DSS also kept quiet on the 2 other settlements (Jive/Broadvsion) but they did at least generically press release the events. Not this time however."
Both of those settlements had NDAs as well, which is the reason for the omission of the base to which the RR is to be applied.
"So, again this is just conjecture, it would seem to me something is different between this settlement and the others."
This is a very true statement...the prior two statements were released by DSS, the company soon to merge with LTG. This is the all new DSS, run by new people, with new standards and a whole new set of SOP. NDA aside, we don't know how these guys operate and are just now being exposed to the new regime. Patience is the mantra.
I get it...good to know for future reference
The company doesn't need it in this situation, not to mention the motivation all parties involved (including the company) have to raise the SP to, and keep it above $5. It just seems highly unlikely right now.
His market cap numbers stick out like a sore thumb....they should keep Chas on retainer :)
The company is horribly inaccurate and apparently doesn't have the best reputation. It i guess some coverage is better than no coverage. I just wish they could get some of the basic facts correct.
Disregard....link to analyst:

Link?
Like I told Chas last week, you're about to get a "Stayed in a Holiday Inn last night" education on law soon enough. It's inevitable in an IP centric company.
"so it would interesting and helpful to figure out how much as the revenue is in play for the RR."
Steve Kim postulated in his recent SA article that the entire revenue would predicate the base for the patents in question. I am very interested to see how that shakes out, as its pretty obvious what those numbers imply.
"eventually the stock price will move to correct fundamental value, and we are not really close to that right now."
Where do you see the correct fundamental value by your calculations? Anyone else is invited to chime in here as well...
As are most men of his and your......maturity lol
I believe this is the point of surfers "beware the 5"
"I also can not see this being a poor settlement because there will be a court trial likely due to FB and LKND and accepting a poor settlement pre trial would erode the potential upside outcome with FB and LKND. Basically DSS is not being forced to settle and a poor one is not in their interest, so that's highly unlikely. "
I think about like this:
If I were a company who just signed a settlement agreement for a large amount of money (not small) I would make the NDA air tight. There is a reason DSS immediately put out announcements of the prior two settlements, and now they have a reason to withhold, and my opinion is that it is not by choice, rather court ordered silence. We will see shortly. The bottom line is that a settlement is good no matter what. In the eyes of the market, an IP company is only as good as its ability to monetize their patents...proof of that ability is priceless (literally, just look at VHC after their announcements trading at multiples of their market cap).
"Further silence this coming week would imply a minimal royalty rate or worse. The legal settlement was July 15th, and Ronaldi promised everyone the new DSS would deliver on communication and transparency. We should hear something Monday."
Not necessarily, we don't know what stipulations the NDA dictate. It is possible they simply can't tell anyone. But hopefully we see an 8k.
Right back at you buddy. Have a good weekend
Revenues are definitely the story with DSS....monetized 3 of 6 patent disputes for the 6 existing defendants. I'm sure you of all people can recognize the potential there with you recent call on WDDD. Same (if not more) potential with an existing revenue base aside from patent litigation to keep the company solvent. Q2 & Q3 will be massive. I understand you are hyped on SCRC, but DSS deserves attention, as it will make many who take advantage of the current CHEAP prices a lot of money. GL
News for DSS:
Novell settled with DSS on July 15th.

excellent news
Opened can, meet worms LOL
Correct....they need to do this and have a plan. All positive for the company.
And......fun begins
DSS - At 52 week lows with an Inverted Head and Shoulder pattern formed. Primed technically for large gap fill, also pending Markman trial in October against Facebook, LKND, and Salesforce (Potential $100's of millions). Huge fundamental and technical catalysts to send this stock higher in the near and mid-term. Worth a look for all interested. GL

Hey all, figured I'd throw this one out there for all:

This site is horrible...I've made tens of thousands long when it was saying sell/short.
Thank you for taking the time to put this together and share. As you and I discussed earlier today, I tend to agree with these numbers. If nothing else, it's best IMO to assume these numbers as worst case scenario and be pleasantly surprised for the better.
I like that
1.66 on 100 shares. Unreal
That made me laugh.... It definitely takes a little more grey matter than I have to understand some of this stuff apparently. I'm just glad to have these people on the good guys side.
This can't be referring to the deadline to meet calls set by FINRA can it?
