For everybody's benefit. Hon Hai and Foxconn are the same. EOM.
Data_Rox. Agreed. Hope the analysts see the potential as well. EOM.
If 27 is from Pegatron...then there is more to come from Apple...more the merrier. Analysts should jump on the wagon now and make some decent credible calls...proably they can stick their neck out and become heroes.

dndodd, thanks. I missed that. This is huge...we grow with Apple. EOM.
bim524, even if we take the arbitration moneys out, IDCC beat its own estimates by at least 2 million. Looks like the shorts are in for a squeeze in the shorts.
Wish we received the positive momentum when NOK got rejected...I strongly believe that shorts played it that day and turned out to be very lucky since the interest in the stock is way down.
JMHO,
vg_future
New short interest - an increase of around 150K.

Could mean that it is sold. Hoping.....

Wow! that is a big push after they said that it is Nov 13th (as per IDCC's 8K). Wonder if this caused the push down in the last 1 hr trading today (other than the typical manipulation that IDCC constantly faces).
I guess they would have pulled something like this even if there was no govt. shutdown.
Thanks for sharing the information. Appreciate it.
-vg_future
Thanks my3sons87. So, this is after the commission's review decision that comes out on Nov 13th, right?
TIA,
vg_future
GBR, it is up now. EOM.
Fog1937, I am not sure how you got to the conclusion that SEPs no longer can trigger ban...particularly based on today's Apple/Samsung ban news. The ruling today didn't say that "since these are not SEPs...we are upholding the ban". Please correct me if I am wrong. If any, I would think that this would help our case...because it says that bans are still valid and can withstand President's vetoes (as someone was theorizing in the past that bans are very hard to get and stand through President's review). IDCC's price movement is just that...no respect...people playing to fit the option games.
JMHO,
vg_future
Some coverage...hope this spurs some interest.

InterDigital (IDCC): This Delaware-based firm ($1.6 billion market cap) develops wireless technologies used in a variety of mobile devices, networks, and services. I wrote about it back in March and its shares have had a rough go of it since then, thanks to some unfavorable rulings on its patent infringement claims.
But my Joel Greenblatt-based model likes the fundamentals and financials of this very unloved play. Its 33.2% earnings yield and 49.5% return on capital make it the 16th-most-attractive stock in the market right now, according to the approach.
olddog967, that seems over simplified. If NOK can get away from an exclusion by selling the products in question to a different entity, then everybody will use the same technique? Wouldn't there be guards against such maneuvers? IMHO, probably coming from my hope for IDCC, Microsoft would assume the liabilities as well (ofcourse we are not privy to details of the deal)...I guess IDCC can dig them up with proper court orders.
JMHO,
vg_future
jeffree, good idea. But, NOK's (MSFT's) 10 years will be up in another 3 yrs counting from 2006. However, a deal is a deal...especially if it is over 1.5 bilion.
JMHO,

The Pegatron part of the revenue (from the guidance) is pretty good and promising. Before the board gets noisy, I would like that to everyone's attention....so, in fact, we grow as Apple grows....
Arbitration is significant as well.
JMHO,
vg_future
GBR, I think they did the right thing. IMHO, assuming that they are the real pictures of the employees, they shouldn't have been posted here on this board (though they are available publicly somewhere else). It is a privacy issue....and if emotions get heavy, it could be a safety issue as well.
JMHO,
vg_future
Pegatron upped their guidance for this year (probably hinting more iPhone versions and orders for them). One of our intelligent analyst should analyze this and link it to more revenue for IDCC.
JMHO,
vg_future
I understand. You mean good. But, IMHO, they don't deserve the fruits of your research. I hope one day all the real shareholders catch a break and these ankle biters leave us.
-vg_future
my3sons87, I seriously think that you are wasting time on someone who is not interested in knowing the truth. For all that you know, it might be just an alias of one of our board savers who show up only with one purpose in life.....talk negative about IDCC. Ofcourse, they are trying to save the long suffering share holders from IDCC.
JMHO,
vg_future
Okay, thanks for the clarification. I misunderstood OUII's earlier position for the other case that got sent back to ITC by CAFC. I thought they recommended (based on what CAFC said) a decision by ITC instead of another ALJ investigation. Since CAFC supported IDCC's claim construction, I misinterpreted that to be applicable to the new one.
THanks for the clarification.
-vg_future
Agreed. Particularly after their stand on the earlier case that CAFC ruled in our favor. Probably, they are siding with IDCC regarding the claim construction.
Looking at all these (no. of requests for review), it seems very likely that the commission will review this ID.
JMHO,
vg_future
Dndodd, let's hope IDCC can do that to stop the bleeding and control the panic.
Goodluck To All Real Longs!
vg_future
Guys who want to vent should go somewhere else...now is the time for real useful info on the board. Please respect the importance of this event and all the longs who are looking for some support.
Thanks,

repost- why no conf.call on Monday...something else happening on Monday, July 1st?
All, sorry if already answered. Did I read it wrong or is it a typo that PR from IDCC said that the conference call is on Tuesday at 8:30 am? Is Monday a holiday or IDCC planning on something else for Monday, July 1st? Why should the stock be left without much defense for one whole day without a conference call explanation? Please don't respond with answers like what is there to clarify.
TIA,

nterDigital loses first round of US case against Huawei, others
5:20 PM ET, 06/28/2013 - Reuters
By Diane Bartz
WASHINGTON, June 28 (Reuters) - Huawei Technologies , Nokia Corp and ZTE Corp did not violate cell phone patents owned by InterDigital Inc, a judge at the International Trade Commission said in a preliminary decision on Friday.
The ITC's final decision in the case is expected to be issued in October.
InterDigital, which buys and licenses patents, had accused the companies of violating seven patents used to make 3G wireless devices. The patents cover conservation of power and ensuring the right data goes to the right recipient, among other technology.
LG Electronics had been named in the original complaint but settled with InterDigital.
InterDigital asked the ITC to ban the U.S. sale of the three companies' 3G wireless mobile devices. While much of the world is moving to 4G, 3G remains broadly in use.
The ITC, a quasi-judicial federal agency, is a popular venue for patent fights because its docket moves fairly quickly and it can order a sales ban for any device which infringes a patent.

Thanks dndodd. Is this a positive reference? I am surprised how many forces try to work IDCC. When BBRY had positive results, IDCC's name was never brought up as a supplier. When BBRY starts taking the beating, mysteriously someone streetinsider finds the urge to identify IDCC as a supplier. Hope the reference is positive because BBRY has increased sales in general.

Pegatron involvement in low/mid-range iPhone is kind of confirmed with this
http://wallstcheatsheet.com/stocks/apple-supplier-low-cost-iphone-will-not-be-cheap.html/?ref=YF
How cheap will Apple’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) rumored low-cost iPhone be? According to a China Times report via the Japanese blog Mac Otakara, Pegatron CEO T. H. Tung stated at his company’s shareholders meeting that the so-called low-cost iPhone price “is quite high.”

This had led some commentators to speculate that the “cheap” iPhone will actually retail as a mid-range price smartphone. Although the existence of this product has yet to be confirmed by Apple, Tung’s statements seem to indicate that the Taiwan-based Pegatron is currently involved in the production of this new iPhone.
Via Mac Otakara, Tung also noted that Pegatron’s “production plants [are] busy and [in a] non-stop state.” The CEO also said Pegatron has plans to hire additional employees to help with production of the low-cost iPhone in the second half of 2013.

NOK and MSFT's partnership is a bit more than just partnership...this NEWS just confirms it. MSFT can still pull a quick one and become the owner of NOK's liabilities (that is what matters for IDCC).
Microsoft-Nokia Advanced Talks Recently Broke Down

All, question/observation regarding IDCC's 8-K. The deferred compensation plan seems interesting and might be pointing at some major event that could be on the horizon. Potentially (JMHO), the highly compensated execs can choose to defer their compensation (including salary/bonuses) for something in the future....could be shares if the board decides (I am guessing). Very very interesting or I am mis-reading/mis-interpreting it totally wrong. I am not sure if the board (or the SEC rules) give these individuals option to opt out if things go as expected or they are locked in as soon as they opt for this.
Is this a new plan or IDCC always had this?
TIA,
vg_future
I am not sure. I think it would be too complicated (from legal and regulatory perspective)...or else anybody can dump the liabilities/debt and sell the good parts to somebody and bankrupting the remaining unit(s).
Huawei can get some patent protection with NOK's arsenal (or probably this might be a pitch for just the manufacturing side while letting NOK spin off the patent side of the business).
ZTE might want in on the action as well.
JMHO,
vg_future
Why would Huawei take up NOK's mess unless they have a solution for IDCC? We never know. In 2 weeks this whole legal mess could be history.
Goodluck All!
vg_future
Thanks JimLur for the confirmation. EOM.
-vg_future
Quick question. Is Roath the person tied with the parking garage type of business outside of his IDCC responsibilities?
TIA,
vg_future
scruffynyc1, probably there might be another reason that dndodd is alluding to. But, people at these levels won't leave on their own unless there is another opportunity and an agreement in the hand. I can't speak for Mr.Soni's personal and personnel situation, so, I wouldn't spend much time sweating this.
JMHO,
vg_future
Thanks olddog967 for the filing info. I am surprised to see how everyone finds a magic "dissenting opinion" from the panel. Sounds like Nokia's holy grail. Nokia would have put their entire fleet of lawyers behind the dissenting opinion which conveniently fits what Nokia wants to say. Glad that Pegatron just mentioned it "for the records" and moved on.
-vg_future
Question for experts. Does our ITC case involve only SEPs or other patents as well?
TIA,
vg_future
Amazingly low volume....and pretty obvious and sickening manipulation. I can't imagine they pushed it down by 80 cents with just 5 or 6K shares.
JMO,
vg_future
Very slight surge in volume in the last hour with the price going into positive territory today. Hopefully good indication for tomorrow.
-vg_future
Olddog967, yes I am guessing and also hoping that it is for Apple. Wish one of our analysts comes out with some correlation.
