Interesting read on the progress of Donlin mine. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers published its final environmental impact statement. http://www.alaskajournal.com/2018-04-27/final-environmental-review-released-donlin-without-preferred-alternative#.WuSVzNPwYWp
Alaska Supreme court seems interested changing the salmon initiative and removing the unconstitutional bits.
This dog will not hunt as written.

Time will tell brah.
If they vote.
Be careful, there are a couple of hurdles before your dog can hunt.
House bill 44 if passed will kill the initiative.
Alaska Supreme Court has yet to hear the constitutionality if the initiative if deemed unconstitutional the initiative is dead.
It looks like the Salmon Ballot initiative may be toast, at least for this year. Disfunction of the Alaska legislature trickle down effect.

Interesting development, not earth shaking, but interesting nonetheless.
BBNC is concerned where the ore will be sold...hmm.

This makes me nervous
Just curious, but who controls the gold backing the coins?
The plot thickens, opponents of the ballot initiative are not taking it lying down. https://www.alaskapublic.org/2018/04/12/opponents-of-salmon-ballot-initiative-raise-over-2-million/
1.2 trillion USD in circulation, 40.4 million ounces of gold (~$54bn)...the bank will be short to the tune of $1.146 trillion ;)
...and to put this into context:
http://juneauempire.com/opinion Note the word OPINION
Salmon initiative is meaningless if it is deemed unconstitutional. The Alaska Supreme Court will hear oral arguments on the case April 26.
No it doesn’t

Be careful xCurrent, has nothing to do with the XRP ledger or protocol.

Please read. You must know the difference between xCurrent(RippleNet) and XRP before investing in XRP. https://cryptoanswers.net/ripplenet-vs-xrp/
some numbers to chew on...
$4,000 plus 7% over $100,000 is the States take on each mining license.
http://tax.alaska.gov/programs/programs/index.aspx?60610
There is also(because Pebble is on state owned land) a production royalty fee which is three percent (3%) of net income as determined under the Mining License Tax Law AS 43.65 and regulations 15 AAC 65 http://dnr.alaska.gov/mlw/factsht/mine_fs/producti.pdf
nice pamphlet on mining economics for Alaska http://www.mcdowellgroup.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/2014-AK-Mining-Economic-Impact1.pdf
and this dated article, worth reading though: https://www.adn.com/economy/article/alaska-getting-its-fair-share-mining/2013/06/17/
Pretty sure thats rumor news. Has an eerie semblance to the coinbase rumors. Here is an article that thinks so as well.
https://globalcoinreport.com/tencent-2-billion-investment-in-ripple-xrp-real-or-speculation/
Ripple Labs Inc, is a privately held company that provides Ripple protocol, an open-source distributed payment network that enables payments to merchants, consumers, and developers.
Ripple Token (XRP) can be purchased on several exchanges,
https://ripple.com/xrp/buy-xrp/
eTrade dose not trade cryptocurrencies., however they do offer bitcoin futures...
Hopefully this will shed some light on the issue. "Cryptocurrency XRP, also known as Ripple, is often confused with the company that created it, Ripple Labs"
Thanks for pointing out how rare it is. Indeed it has a crustal abundance that is lowest on the list.
Some more lite reading https://pubs.usgs.gov/pp/1802/pp1802_entirebook.pdf
Avoid fees by placing Limit orders and being a Maker when using GDAX.
If you want to avoid transfer fee from coinbase, transfer first to GDAX account and then transfer out to your other exchange of choice. I buy all of my BTC, ETH, and LTC thru GDAX without any transaction fees and then transfer them out others (Binance, Poloniex, Bittrex, etc) without fees as well.
Maybe, just maybe, it isn’t doomed to fail.
The initiative gives the ADFG greater influence, if(when)it fails Title 16 will be the guidance ADFG continues to use.
Read the ballot, dose it not seem a bit troubling and vague, a rabbit hole of sorts. I think the problems created by this ballot will out weight the "solutions" it tries to provide. The State will essentially become handcuffed with EVERY project that requires a shovel.
On the outside chance the initiative actually makes it to the the ballot it will not be in the form it is today.
Alaska's Constitution requires resource allocation be left to the Legislature, as written the initiative is
unconstitutional. Oral Arguments in the case are now set for April 26 before the states Supreme Court.
Even if the initiative wins at the Supreme Court, a long list of resource development, unions, trade groups, the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act Regional Association as well as the Alaska Chamber have formed an opposition group called Stand for Alaska. A more likely scenario will be a change in Title 16. Title 16 directs the Fish and Game commissioner to issue a development permit as long as a project provides “proper protection of fish and game.” That simple sentence is at the heart of the issue. IMO I think that Title 16 will be amended long before the S.I. becomes law.
