And, it's to regulate imports into Iran...

PERSIAN GULF
War ships, planes, missiles amassing around Gulf
In preparation for the UN decision on new sanctions against Iran over of its nuclear program, while Tehran considers blockading the Strait of Hormuz, Western fleets are approaching. Saudi Arabia is buying jets, and Kuwait is activating its "emergency war plan".
Kuwait City (AsianNews) - Iran says that it is "ready to confront sanctions" from the UN in connection with its nuclear program, which will continue forward "under any circumstances"; Saudi Arabia is preparing to buy 72 more Eurofighter Typhoon jets; United States, British, and French warships are increasing the military presence in the Persian Gulf; Kuwait is activating its "emergency war plan".
There's a show of muscle in the Gulf, in preparation for the report from the deputy director of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Olli Heinonen, who visited Tehran on August 7 to clarify the offer of the "5 plus 1" (the permanent members of the UN Security Council - United States, Russia, China, Great Britain, and France - plus Germany) in exchange for the suspension of Iran's nuclear fuel enrichment program. The Iranian response - expected to be a rejection or a delay - will bring a request for a new sanctions, which could be discussed at the next general assembly of the United Nations, scheduled for September 23- October 1.
In recent days, Arab observers have emphasized the concurrence of the threat of new sanctions, and Iran's announcement that it has prepared ground-to-air missiles with a range of 300 kilometers, which is more than sufficient to close the "oil gate": the Strait of Hormuz, about 50 kilometers wide, between Iran and Oman. The Middle East Times highlights that Western aircraft carriers and battleships are approaching the Gulf, on their return from exercises in the Atlantic aimed at breaking a possible blockade of the Strait. It is the largest naval deployment in these waters since the two Gulf wars.
Beyond the unfortunate hypothesis of a military confrontation, the presence of Western naval forces could suggest a blockade of Iranian oil exports and imports. Although it is the second largest oil producer in OPEC, Iran is forced to import gasoline, because its refineries are insufficient for its domestic needs. Fuel is already being rationed, and a blockade of its imports would have a devastating impact on the Iranian economy.
Do they have analysts following them?
I do not remember any. Usually the only reason companies have CC's is if they have formal "analysts". I could be totally wrong here though.
Not looking for popularity. Thanks though-

@MikeS97707,
if you read the 10Q carefully you can see that costs are up because of two main reasons:
ENGINEERING AND COST OF SALES: These costs generally consist of salary, training, consulting, subcontracting and other expenses incurred to develop and fulfill the engineering (design specifications) of the products and services from which we derive our revenues. Engineering expenses for the quarter ended June 30, 2008 were $1,406,760 as compared to $470,033 for the quarter ended June 30, 2007. The increase of $936,727 was mainly due to increases of approximately $624,000 amortization of licensing, $150,000 consultant expense for China market and $139,000 personnel expenses.
Without these two excepitonal cost blocks ALIF would have an income of approx. $3,7 Mio. but so only of $2,9 Mio. I think thatswhy the "explotion" of costs should not be overestimated. Just my two cents.
Haha only took 15 minutes to get a reply...
... too bad she didn't tell me anything of substance; it never hurts to ask though:

This looks like a standard computer-generated reply but it may not be. It is business hours in Hong Kong right now!
Just sent an email to IR. I'll post if and when I get an answer.
Here it is:
I've been invested in ALIF for almost 6 months now and am excited about the future and their recent results. Congratulations with that, by the way!
Is there a timeline for a partnership with Apple/AT&T and the iphone? Personally, I'd like to be able to download Artificial Life games on my iphone, and as an investor, I think it's obvious that the iphone is a great opportunity.
It probably goes without saying that Artificial Life either has 1) Very good business rationale not to be in business with Apple/AT&T, or 2) Is in the process of putting the agreement together.
Is there any information you can give me relative to this issue?
Thank you!
Went back to the Boulder CO Target to check out their MyPlace display.
Good News: There were 5 out on the floor (whereas a couple months ago they were still in storage).
Bad News: The 5 on the floor were in the "As Seen on TV" Section which was stuck by the knives, pots, and other household wares.
There was a great section with "Back to College" advertised all over it and wish MyPlace was displayed in that section.
Maybe I'll go there during a weekday, talk to a store manager, and suggest they put the display in the "Back to College" section?
I agree. Googling my name gives me 3 pages of results (almost all relevant, such as my LinkedIn, a few newspaper articles from a while back - even to '96, and professional organization websites where I'm listed). Cuiling my name gives me ZERO results and tells me to "be less specific".
Would it be Cuill to short GOOG?

It may be being played out by both sides, you're right.
Here's my point: Let's not call Obama a "racist" because he pointed out that he's black when those great men that came before him were white. To avoid the acknowledgement is to make more of an issue out of it, and frankly, I'm proud that we've come far enough to potentially elect a black man (and a woman, for that matter). So let's rub it in the faces of those Germans!
Which reminds me:
Q: What did one lesbian say to her lover?
A: "No, let ME be Frank."
Huh?
Here's what Obama said:
I know that I don't look like the Americans who've previously spoken in this great city. The journey that led me here is improbable. My mother was born in the heartland of America, but my father grew up herding goats in Kenya. His father -- my grandfather -- was a cook, a domestic servant to the British.
Here's the Americans who've previously spoken in Berlin:
John F Kennedy, Ronald Reagan, Bill Clinton
As a Republican, I find no evidence of underlying "racial division" here, and wish good Republicans would stop pointing out their own ignorance. Gives all of us a bad name.
Is that German? <EOM>
$5 Trillion deficit impossible to repair?
It can be done!
10-YEAR ESTIMATE OF BUDGET SURPLUS SURGES ONCE MORE
RICHARD W. STEVENSON
Published: December 29, 2000
The Clinton administration handed a parting gift to President-elect George W. Bush today, projecting that the federal budget surplus would swell substantially, to nearly $5 trillion, over the next decade.
Administration officials said they expected the surplus to total $4.996 trillion in the 10 years beginning with the start of the next fiscal year, on Oct. 1, 2001. That amounts to an increase of just over $800 billion from the administration's previous projection, of $4.193 trillion for the 10 years that started this October.
Although such long-range projections are subject to change with ups and downs in the economy and are not a tool of great precision, the new estimates give Mr. Bush more wiggle room in his efforts to convince Congress and the public that his tax cut proposal, valued at some $1.6 trillion over 10 years, is affordable.

Sure, but, the loss was "bigger than expected", they announced more problems in the future, and Heidi Fleiss is struggling in the Nevada desert. None of that can be good, can it?

ETFC calls: Is this good or bad?
http://www.reuters.com/article/marketsNews/idUSWNAB176820080722?rpc=44
Seems "bad", but it's up AH
The difference between .002 and .005...
... is about $100,000, most of which might be explained by this:
Administrative Expense (SG&A) increased by $91,908 from $261,504 to $353,412
quarter over quarter 2008 vs. 2007 due to increased marketing including
advertising, trade shows and travel expenses.
With the growth in sales (both national and international) and the improvement in margins, I'll give them the $$ for marketing.
In my opinion, this company is at the beginning of the growth curve.
A few of my favorite things...
* Net profit for the quarter ended May 31, 2008 is $64,784 as compared to a loss
of $178,520 for the same quarter in 2007 and represents a total improvement of
$243,304 (136%) quarter over quarter.
* Sales of the FREEDOM60(R) Syringe Infusion System and related accessories
increased 146% domestically in the first quarter ending May 31, 2008 as compared
to the same period in 2007.
* Sales of RES-Q-VAC(R) and related accessories increased overall 39% in
the current quarter over previous quarter from $142,787 to $198,692.
* We believe we are continuing to enhance a new customer base for our products. We
have experienced an increase in sales and cash flow during this past quarter and
past year. With these increases and the capital we currently have, we will
continue to meet or exceed the company's financial goals.
ATPG: Insider buying continued...
Seldin buying the crap out of this lately and since November. I mean, he's sort of an "insider", right?
http://insidercow.com/history/insider.jsp?Cik=0000898406&company=ATPG&name=SELDIN%20PETER%20K&title=various%20%2010%%20owner
I see that too; just bought more ATPG. RSI low, fundies excellent, chart looks oversold...
What's wrong with the REPR board? I can't see BRIG's post... and it's driving me to drink!
TBYH: Is it a "gap" if the spread over the last few days has been .15 to .20 cents? Just wondering-
I also flipped out at $2.05 for a profit.
I'm thinking what you're thinking: That they just haven't gotten to it yet; in the PR they gave themselves until third quarter of 2008... The iphone 2.0 hasn't even been out a week (iphone 2.0 is the software for my old iphone that I just downloaded that makes you able to download applications such as games, while the new 3G iphone that came out on the 11th has 2.0 on it already).
I know iphone 2.0 just came out, but it appears that Artificial Life's games are not yet available for iphone.
* None of ALIF's games came up on a search of the Applications/games available through Apple/itunes.
* At the Artificial-life.com website, when one attempts to buy a game, it asks you to specify the make/model of your phone. The iphone/Apple (and AT&T) are not options.
We're in the second quarter for ALIF, no? In the PR posted by Mike, they said they'd be available in the second or third quarters. The sooner the better!
Good to hear Nsom... now to do the work of educating myself on using puts, calls, etc.
Someday I'll be able to hang with the folks on these boards!
Just applied to Zecco for them to allow me to trade Options. I've been trading for about 8 years now but never options; let's hope they let me so I can join you and others on some of these... I would've bought puts on URBN if I was able to last week...
Here's how I did it:
1) Cut fresh lime into pieces,
2) Insert one of the lime pieces into a cold Pacifico,
3) Whilst enjoying said Pacifico, go to: https://e-docs.hcdistrictclerk.com/eDocs.Web/default.aspx
4) Log in,
5) Click on "Search Documents",
6) Put in the Case Number: 200601984
7) Click Search
8) Finish Pacifico as you scan the documents...
Mike is referring to this one:
Document 38595077, by court 334 (312 pages)
- PLAINTIFFS' RESPONSE TO PIONEER'S MOTION FOR SUMMARY JUDGMENT REGARDING TRUST AND PARTNERSHIP TERMINATION 7/3/2008
Evidence of a shift to REPR's Subcutaneous Infusion product (used at home), from the Intravenous method (patient has to go to a clinic):
Go here: www.primaryimmune.org/pubs/clinic_focus/clinic_focus.htm
Open up this Journal Article: Subcutaneous IgG Therapy in Immune Deficiency Diseases
Below is one part of the article:
Since the subcutaneous route has a very low risk of serious systemic reactions, the combination of these
two factors has led to a shift to self, partner or parent administration of
SCIg at home. The freedom from dependence on trained medical
personnel and/or special facilities for routine IgG treatments is
appreciated by most patients. In a formal quality of life study, the
transition from hospital or office based IV treatment to 12 months of
home-based subcutaneous treatment was associated with significant
(p< 0.05) improvements in “general health,” “role-physical,” “vitality”
and “health transition” scales on formal quality of life evaluations using
the SF-36 and PIDD life quality index tools (33).
Thanks. Exactly what we need on the street! EOM
Thanks for the explanation; of course those who've done the DD both on the street and in the filings - and hold shares - are biased towards bullish (as I am). Now I/we shareholders just have to be a little more patient.
Good luck-
Why wait until it goes higher? If you're confident it is going higher... wouldn't it be wise to gradually build a position down here?
If you're using the TA rationale (that once it breaks .50 it's "off to the races"), then you're not seeing the enormous Fundamental bullish argument here, IMO.
Went back to the Boulder Target to their customer service. When I asked about MyPlace and where it was, Stephanie asked, "Were you the one that called earlier?" I said I was, then introduced myself as Rawnoc.
Anyway, the 4 they had were not out on the floor, so they went to the back and got one for me.
I went ahead and purchased it just to give someone the message that maybe they should put them out on display. Hopefully they're already planning on it...
I'd check the ibox for all the possible stores. The only problem is, I'm not sure exactly what VBDG products are supposed to be in each store. Maybe that is lined out somewhere?
As I just learned, you can't rely on the personnel on the floor to know anything, so from now on I'm going to print out a list of VBDG products, take it to the store's customer service, then ask them if they carry any of them. From there I can go to the department and check out the display, talk to department managers (or knowledgeable salespeople, when they exist), etc.
Good luck!
Yep it is, thanks Raw. I actually had two young dudes "helping" me. Neither of them had heard of MyPlace.
First, they sent me to the Furniture department and the MyPlace's weren't there. Then, I walked around their department (Electronics/Gaming) and I couldn't find them. So finally, I went back to them and made them look it up for me on whatever hand-held device they had. They looked it up using the terms "myplace" and "place" and they said nothing came up. So I gave up.
If I would have remembered that every Target was supposed to have them I would have gone to customer service.
Think I'll head back over there, go to customer service, find where the MyPlace's are located, then do their Employee Education for them...
Boulder Colorado MyPlace:
I went to our Target and BB&B to check out MyPlace sales.
* The Target did not carry them.. However, this Target does not sell laptop computers; maybe that matters???
* The BB&B had a display with 10-12 on it (appeared full). I asked the manager on duty how they were selling, and she said (paraphrase of our conversation): "They're selling fairly well.. we've had to replenish our supply a couple times in the last 6 months. I expect they'll sell very well once the college kids come back in a few months."
I also asked her how they sell since BB&B doesn't carry computers or computer accessories. She said that people just walk up/down the aisles, notice them, and buy. They're not in the store to pick up a MyPlace per se.
All in all I was disappointed our Target did not have them (maybe they will once Fall Semester gets closer?), but was satisfied with the conversation with the BB&B store manager.
My next task is to go to other stores (Home Depot, Walgreens, Wal-Mart, etc) and look for other VBDG products (and inquire about them). Maybe next Sunday I'll take this on-
Ronpo, re: Document:
I was able to access it. Doesn't look like anything too noteworthy, but what do I know? It's a cover letter from MOSH lawyers to the Harris County Clerk, Theresa Chang. Here's what it says:
Dear Mrs Chang:
Enclosed please find the original and ane copy of the following:
1. Second Supplement to Agreed Protective Order.
Please acknowledge receipt and filing by returning a file-stamped copy of this document to the courier waiting.
Very truly yours,
The Kim Law Firm
cc'd are the rest of the attorneys for everyone - which takes up the next two pages!
Again, I do not know what the "agreed protective order" is, and am hoping someone else can shed some light-
Then don't invest. EOM
If I remember correctly, all this has been resolved. My opinion is that this is Old News (actually it's not an opinion since it's from 2004), and it has nothing materially to do with VBDG, it's products, or the claims of those products.
