I think most here are my friends. Not everyone but most. About four people here think I should be hung.
I got news for them: I know a couple of ladies here in Las Vegas who think I already am.
Stock I'm glad to ne back.
I don't mind hindsight. But it depends on whose hind I am sighting.
Finally dome did it
I hope
Someone said the super bowel is tomorrow. Maybe so. I don't keep track of those things.
My hacked Desktop Windows 7 goes into the repair shop Monday morn. I'm hopefull.
EZ, you know me too well. I confess.
To understand our dear friend AZ you can apply this old adage: Float like a butterfly, sting like a butterfly. AZ keeps us all smiling.
Ks, one thing is absolutely certain: The ACLU will be on the wrong side of justice whenever they act. Always.
Mr. Tree Sir? I have an excellent excuse. I use a cane or my walker because I have arthritis in both knees.
I know less about the technicalities of computers than the averaeg four year old. Never heard of this.
That is their goal in life: To defend the defenseless.
UN . . . . . . . . . real
Kitt, we talked about The Donald, both of voted for him knowing that Hillarious would take our guns away. That sold me on this middle-aged man. I didn't mention either of those but . . .
During the next three days I need to write my 'wants' down and print them for him. I will. And I will list those two.
If he is still in a one-man shop on an expensive street after 18 years, he must be doing something right. I'll find out next week. And he wouldn't take cash money for chat. I tried to hand him twenties and he flat refused.
EZ, I LOVE IT, LOVE IT. Perfect.
Gmen, everyone knows my hearing is spotty. Wasn't the saying: "Digression is the better part of valor?"
Thank you.
Dealt with two Internet companies today. Ripped off by one. The other had such a poorly written check-out that I gave up. So he phoned me, said the same things at least six times. Frustrating. FIX YOUR DAMN SITE. Went back and unraveled the problem and got the order placed. I have time. I have patience. I have no temper. But I MAY NEED TO ACQUIRE ONE.
Gmen, if you can't afford it, let me know. We have standards.
Gmen, you have earned it. You will be totally welcome to join our ranks. No matter how rank you may become.
Morning Ks. Nineteen years since I retired. Almost getting used to it. You will in time.
Some say groundhogs should be barbecued. Some say roasted. Others require that they be fricasseed. Boiling is demanded by some. I have no preferences. Groundhogs do not like this desert.
Walk is out of bed and attending. I did NOT say wide awake, but out of bed. Sipping my first. Intend to have another soon.
Excel? The 'S' stands for 'spend'. We talked as he worked, I had time to judge him. He said I'd be better off with him repairing my W 7 than spending a lot of $$$$$$ for a W10. Middle aged with Oriental ancestors. Born and raised here, said he had been at that location for 18 years. His shop looked like it. I offered cash just for the interview. He would not take it.
So, . . . you may very well be right. I'll know next week.
DWP . . . Thank you. I'm so old that I was a paratrooper before airplanes were invented. 24 years of owning computers and now I feel fairly confidant that I can turn one on and later turn it off. That is the extent of my knowledge.
Yesterday afternoon I met with a pro at his computer shop. I was impressed. We chatted, and I told him I could bring him this desktop next Monday. He will repair W 7.
I'll be here off and on until about 8/9 more or less Monday morning. Then give blood and give this desktop. Then off for a couple of daze. Scuse me, days. Let you know what I think of it after I get it back. Hopeful.
You two are way beyond me. Yes, memory sticks. I was hoping I had put my Bookmarks all (just the list) on a stick to save them. I may have. But I inserted each one separate and got no info back. I think each one knows something. I don't know nuthin.
I did go to meet a specialist. He says bring this Desktop puter to him Monday, he will solve all its problems. Have it ready Tuesday or Weds. We didn't talk money. He impressed me. Should be solved next week. We shall see.
It has been my experience that EZ is always on a roll. Maybe even whilst he sleeps. Ain't no comparison to EZ.
I got a chance to check the Internet for local experts. Got six 'replies'. Not one of them gave me their phone # or address. ??? And they seemed proud of the way they 'contacted' me email. But there was in fact no contact at all. Weird. No help at all. I might have visited one or more . . . if I could. But they gave me no way to respond. So . . . I guess I won't. Still looking.
Finally got the phone call. Free now. Looking for a pro. I know where one is far side of town. I could do that, but maybe I can find one closer. NOT taking the laptop with me. Today is Q's and A's. We shall see. I think I will go out this aft and look.
Yes. And Google bragged a couple of years ago about donating $147 million to far left wing groups. I don't want to help them.
This is not an exhaustive list.
Well it exhausted me.
Thanks Kitt. If there was any way at present of telling my printer to work (it would but I can't now) I'd print. So I had to write myself a note. I did.
You caught me. Weds morns I have to stay home until I get a certain phone call. The lady whose job it is to call me? Has approx the brains of a housefly. Hasn't phoned yet. Found another problem: the time shown on my screen is often wrong even though I have set it to my correct time. ??????
Thanks for the advice. I'd rather fix this than go to W10. And I hope to. Let you know someday whatever that pro says.
Sharp, that stuff is so far over my bald head that I didn't even get to wave bye-bye as it left. I now know that I will have to have a pro, PAY him or her, and it will take a while to get this sorted out.
I'd love to stay with W7 but I will go to W10 if the pro says that is my best answer. My bookmarks are still inside this poor desktop. The pro will have to extract them. And if we get a good working relationship and my cash holds out, I'll take the memory sticks to him or her in time.
Part of the time when I was in the Army I was a pistol (.45) instructor. I'd like to meet some hackers when I was armed. I'm old now but I could always hit what I aimed at.
Had one more thing I wanted to try . . . and did. I have five memory sticks from one to a few years old. Tried each one. Computer recognises that each was inserted. But not one seemed to want to divulge what was ON it. Learned nothing. Had hoped my Bookmarks were there, and they might have been. Have no idea what good memory sticks are if I can't find out what they remember.
Nothing left to do. Might visit that expert today or tomorrow.
Went where you sent me, found what you said. Did one more Restore. It told me it worked. But I still can't find my hidden Bookmarks nor a printer button. Search MAY work, I don't know yet. But I can't (so far) see any improvement.
Hate to take this desktop to a stranger who wants my money. But right now I don't see any alternative. If I go this aft? I will NOT take it with me, I will talk. And see if whoever that expert is seems like someone I could work with. The road just seems to be getting longer. I don't want to learn W10 but it looks like I have to. Let you know.
Will try. And thanks again.
Kitt I appreciate your efforts and ALL others. First: when I got hacked (was it last Sept?) they took my Bookmarks and hid them. They took my Search Engine. Additionally for some reason they removed the access to my printer! So I have a fine printer sitting here, paper and ink in it, ready to serve me and all mankind. But I cannot now make it print. I've got a lot of problems.
I have used Restore maybe a half dozen times. I started going back to August. Got restored along with a tiny window telling me there was something it could NOT restore but it did everything else. And no Internet connection to be had. Moved up to December, not the restore I wanted but looking for ANY improvement. Same. January? Same. Somewhere I could maybe find a new desktop with Windows 7 in it? I was in Wal-Mart the other day and asked a very nice young lady in the electronic dept. She said no. They could now only sell new units with W10.
With no access to my now-hidden Bookmarks, how will I transfer them to any new unit?
I may later today visit a shop I've never been in but I see it once a month: "We can fix your computer." For money. Which in fact I do have. Trust? Not much. But . . .
click "Internet Options".
Mine doesn't say that
