Don't know why long term investors would care?
Was responding to Alley's part on the traders
I answered you on that issue. Posted directly to you.
I understand, you put no faith in trading. I hear that often from people who don't trade.
The only year that mattered was 99.
I'm not trading this one, so I won't make a few bucks on this one now. Not losing any either
Warren is the icon of what was. That was in a growth period. If you noticed , were not there any more.
For those playing along.
The Nas is under a double bottom breakdown
The S&P is under a spread triple bottom breakdown
The Dow is under a double bottom breakdown
The VIX is under a bear trap
One month of summer to go, enjoy it.

Interdigital Communications IDCC designs and provides advanced wireless technologies. IDCC is active on the message boards today despite any significant news. The company did announce yesterday that it would be a presenter at the Adam, Harkness & Hill 23rd Annual Summer Seminar tomorrow. The equity is down nearly two percent and is trading at its lowest level since March 14. The stock has plunged more than 42 percent from its July 17 close of 25.74. The stock lost nearly 25 percent July 22 after the company said telecommunications giant Nokia was resisting IDCC's claims to key royalty payments. However, after IDCC said the following day that NOK does not dispute that it has an obligation but only disagrees on its basis, the stock temporarily rebounded but resumed its downtrend. Pessimism had been increasing on the shares but turned lower recently. Its SOIR is 0.51, its lowest point since July 17. This measure was 0.61 on July 23, the highest SOIR of the last year
OT Data,
I hear ya, never a good thing to stay to long at the party. Especially when the fun is over.
It was a great run and exactly what the markets needed and wanted. However there is always a price to pay, Think I'll let somebody else leave the tip on this one.
No 965 is the correct breakpoint on the s&p.
Just a few quick points. I know many of the traders who trade this stock. If anything there selling, not buying. I don't know of any major trader buying. Not now anyway.
2nd point. We are no where nears the darkest hour We have a long way to go. This IMO.
There is an awful lot of longs that aren’t here any longer, going to take some time to get past this. Again IMO.
I would expect a big battle at the 965 mark on the S&P. That’s a key point with the bulls winning the last two rounds. It needs to hold if were going to keep the sideways channel.
Sounds like a heck of a chip.eom
OOH, the Gods are not happy with CSCO. Could be a rough day with the S&P at the 965 breakpoint as well.
That would be nice, but I settle for what I get.

Gee, do you think, over 60 million shares traded in the last 60 days. That's over 100% of the stock outstanding turned over. And you think the institutional boys were involved, huh. WOW!
But wait. They only own 20 million of the shares. That probably should be' owned. In any event, think they made any money, they're much slower than the average investor. One could almost say they were played like the fool, couldn't one? I mean after all they built it up while others were selling into the strength. And now look at them. Think your giving them way too much credit. IMO
GBR, LOL, yes there are and most are pretty good people. Also the state has a good sense of humor. I mean we did vote Jesse in. The only one that confuses me is the over 40 longhaired Harley rider that we have at the Vikings games. If I'm not mistaken he's also a Pastor somewhere. Just seems like a conflict to me. You also have to wonder about a state where 1/2 million turnout for hunting season. I mean it only took half that to take out Iraq. It's makes you wonder. 1/2 million out hunting at the same time, that's a lot of beer.
There goes the Trin and the Vix, Good time to enjoy summer, bad time to invest in stocks.
Let see if the fish are biting on Minnetonka.
Sure I have, every word. Tell you what I missing however.
Show me the wording complete of the Nokia contract. What's it say?
Also need to see all sealed filings. If you got them lets have a look.
Without those items however you can guess to high heaven and not come close to what's really going to happen.
But perhaps you have all this information. If you do post it, if not ,well your just guessing. Not a good way to invest your money. Las Vegas maybe more to your liking. Investing with out facts ,well it's about the same.

Been interesting reading the various theories. And quite a range, all the way from credible, to looking for a little guy saying de plane, de plane.
Bottom line, nobody knows what the Judge will say. Nobody knows what ' in the sealed documents. Nobody knows what's in the Nokia contract. And nobody knows what the true intentions of IDCC or Nokia are and were. Conclusion, how could there be one in missing so many parts of the puzzle. Which has been the biggest problem with the boards overall conclusions in the past. Not enough of correct information.
All IMO of course but until these things get sorted out to the fact stage, we have no direction with the company.
BTW What Frank did is exactly what he should have done. Much wiser to play it safe than look like a fool.
Know when to hold them, know when to fold them.
Cap,
RE:Why is Samsung tied to the ERICY and NOK outcome?
They also have an MFL, like Nokia's
RE:Can't IDCC settle with Samsung without NOK?
Yes they can, but it is likely in Sam's best interest to see how this shakes out first.
I would guess where Nokia goes Sam will follow.
HEY RTD, how are you.
Yeah at best management mystifies me with their thought process. I guess I just don't see it their way.
We are oversold here but there are the issues at hand for it. We need to have this sort out some before we get some direction. 12 to 20, sounds good, and it's as good as anybody's guess right now.
A lot of words between Bull and myself, but you know I really would enjoy sitting down have a drink with the both of you. You can tell him, I'll hold the coat for him, might be the easiest way to clean this up.
You take care now.
No Zit, I don't think I'm going to expand on that.
I know there is a bit more to this. But Nokia is holding up the show because they want to see a few pieces of paper, If I was IDCC, for what 150 million, I would have made SURE they would have seen them, heck I would have made them billboard size for 150 million. Providing everything is on the up and up, I would have made sure any Nokia concerns with this were handle at the time. But that's not what IDCC did, not they sealed them up on a trade secret clause. It appears Nokia asked nicely on just the part that would effect Nokia's interest, and were denied. Again for 150mil. Bill board size.
Zit,
RE: of the unfair tactics
You know I'll read that pacer filing 4 times now. I don't know what to make of it, need to see IDCC's response, but, If any of it is true, IDCC is the one that's going to be fried.
Lawsuit city if they been playing.
Again I hope it's not true on what I've read. I hope it is all just a big game by Nokia, but I certainly don't know this. For that matter neither does anybody else that comes here.
This one I have to see end result but right now, well I wait for IDCC's counter release.
ot Regarding XMSR. I never used the product, it sounds like it could be great. It's the money they make vs the cost of that scares me away.
I don't enjoy the risk factors with this kind of money flow is all. Below are a few numbers that , well would keep me from buying.
Gross profit margin -488%
Operating margin - 2,174%
Net Profit margin -2,453%
ROE -84%
Net income Loss of 1/2 billion dollars last year, Up 220 million than the previous year.
40% of the shares are shorted and the insiders sales of roughly 5% of the total shares in June is interesting. No buying by the insiders since 2001 is also a little discomforting.
Don't get me wrong here, I hope the company is a winner. But the numbers above is something I would expect to see selling for under 2 a share under a high risk zone It's a awful big premium to pay for this one
Again I wish it well, just not for me.
Mack,
It was just an opinion, nothing more.
Regarding being surprised. Well I don't know what I can say. I try not to invest in companies that are that heavy in debt. Everybody has things they don't like. That's one of mine. Their assets, cash, are falling. They're projected to lose over 4 dollars a share this year and almost the same 3.88 next year. { again just projected} Cash flow is important to me. Buying into the company now means I'm buying 6 dollars a share of debt that's increasing and assets which are decreasing. I don't like to do that.
They could have a very bright future, just too soon for me to get into it is all.
OT Mack ,
Been an interesting week to be sure.
Getting back to you on XMSR and SIRI.
Didn't go to far here before I hit a snag.
XMSR. Oh BTW I'm using S&P reporting figures. If they are wrong please correct me.
Before I worry about breakdown of any company I look at the books to see if it floats. XMSR as of 3/3/2003 is 466 million in debt. LTD vs. is 41%. 63 million in interest payments alone in 2002. That frankly stops me cold. Their cash dropped 150 million and assets dropped 170 million from 2001 to 2002.I think that's even worse. The debt load remained the same 413 Million. At the end of 2002. Or in other words their current interest payments are 3 times what their revenue is. Forgetting the debt, hard to do, they would still need to grow sales 15 time's current level just to break even, again forgetting the debt already in place. Things do change, cost can be cut, but currently I would have no interest in this one.
Siri, Well at the end of 2002 they had 670 million in debt. 18 million in cash. and 106 million in interest payments for 2002.
That's a lot of debt. They are currently losing ground at the rate of 100 million a year. Again this is one I would past on.
JMO but there are safer investments out there. FWIW
A retraction on my part. The 14 and 11.75 support levels I stated are wrong. Those were blended averages used in my trading model . Sorry for the confusion. Don't read anything into this. Simply wrong numbers posted. Nothing more. Not bad, not good just wrong.
Later
TC out about another 4 million by now aren't you? well to be fair on paper only. Got anything to buy at the bottom?
Mack,
"have you guys had a chance to look at the Sat Radio (SDARS) industry yet and its two main players (XM and SIRI)? Would really appreciate your opinions"
I haven't. Always looking for new ones however. Should have some time this weekend. If I find something interesting in there, well there your picks I share what I get.
Fair enough?
All I can say is Management and their statements. Covers it all.
Later
Well I suppose that could be worded, if it falls. However IF it falls there is mild support that I wouldn't bank on at 14. Good support at 11.75 area.
Now before others take shots, it doesn't HAVE to go to 14 or 11. Currently there is No support between 14 and 16. Doesn't mean an area can't be made into one.
IMO MY opinion only the market is due for a drift down over the next 90 days. I would expect this to drift down to take IDCC with it after it settles down. There is no reason to suspect it to go up right now unless they land something big real soon. If the markets do break down and IDCC follows with the others a 10 to 12 base range would not be out of the question. To get a better view of where this is going it needs to settle down first. The big boys are trying to get out as best they can with the old buy a little sell a lot, but . . . man o man did those analysts get slapped hard. Boy oh boy, they got it good and then some.
Geez, this is NOTHING new. Let the stock fall , buy back after the bottom , make your profits selling into the strength. Same old same old. It's a great stock for this. Hab been for the last 3 years.
And BTW still don't think much of management. That doesn't mean I can't make money off of them.
Happy trading, at least to the traders. The longs seem to be a little upset. On the other hand I'm sure the shorts are jumping for joy. There turn,
Later
Even if it drops to 10-12 range it is still more per share than Mot.
Anybody have a copy of this 9 page report that they can e mail me.
TIA
gejim001@hotmail.com
Interday under 16.00 doesn't bother me. However it has to hold 16/ otherwise simon's tune slip sliding away will be the cry.IMO
I'll go A and B. And if I had the time I'd throw in a C, D and E.
Doesn't matter , after it bottoms it will once again trade well based on the hype of what could be.
I see Howard bought 5k shares at 6.62 a share on the 25th.Not bad Howard. Like I said no stock trader in the world can keep up with these guys.
What changed, the CC. changed everything.eom
I can't argue with your points, you seem to know those areas well, but there is a far larger picture. Example . Right now the US government is pumping the AIDs treatments to Africa. There are other programs besides those in hand and coming up. The people in this country as a rule take care of our own. Then we take care of the rest of the world.Tax dollars at work. It's big business nestled within special government programs that will continue far far into the future.
Alot could be said on this far more than I have time for.
Factor this as a thought, HMO's will not cover many of the treatments currently, and I hope this isn't a trend, mainly because of cost. However a person can buy the treatments themselves, at a cost of perhaps a thousand dollars to many thousands of dollars per period, monthly, bi monthly whatever, for as long as you what to live. That's happening now. And I don't see, at least right now, how this can be reversed.
I appreciate your post. I do not try nor believe the board can control the stock. Good or bad. MM maybe but not a board. Whatever I post, whether a person believes me or not, is NOT an attempt at that. It is what I see or how I feel about this investment and about what I have learned.
That's not what this is about. It's about trying to grow your investment by making good choices.
Much can be learned and shared with open minds.
Old saying, but I use it everyday, regardless if you like it or not, throw it up on the wall, see if it sticks.
Well what ever he is, he's going to study now. A lot going on betwwen now and the end of friday.
Just sit here and hope, good place for you.
Well, good I prefer to pass on the word games myself. And I mean that kindly.
1 yes, several years, sold off Qcom 1/4/2000.
2. A replay of the qcom saga, plus a ericy bonus. The start was the patent validation. Much has changed since then.
3. The small ones that are signing the big contracts in this field. But this is becoming a mature field now. Too many players, and little growth in over all sales. Anyway, the health field, biotech, cancer cures, preventive drugs not yet into phase 3 etc are good. A lot of baby boomers getting old out there. Myself included. 77 million boomers within a 20 year period just starting to hit the retirement years, and they certainly will need this items, daily, monthly, whatever and have the money to buy it. Not much of a contest between buying a phone to talk on or some product to keep you alive.
4 I still have money here. This has been a great trading stock, one of the best over the last 2,3 years. Trades make a lot of money on this one. Short's make a lot of money on this one. Option players, the good ones, have been known to kick it pretty good as well.
5 your real question seem to be why don't I believe? Because there is nothing over the last several years to support it { it being the big run} except the hype of what could be. The stock market is filled with hundreds, if not thousands of could be's. I don't worry as much as what it could be, just what it is. When common sense tells me to trade it, I trade it. It should be noted the reason the price comes down is OTHERS are selling too. You CAN NOT control a stock from the board. Only foolish people who don't know any better claim things like that. The key is in the D and D. T/A helps , but only after you find what your looking for.
And here I have nothing but good things to say about you.
Later
Don't feel the need, but if I did, then what? To what end. I don't know you from adam.
If you got something that makes sense about the company , go right ahead, post it, so far I'm haven't seen a thing.
As far as releasement of my statement to you. Not happening.
In the mean time learn to lose your money more gracefully.
At least it will cut down on your whine.
