With all the political stuff in the air now days allow me to lite'n things up a bit, just to prove I have a screw loose...
This song from back in 1959 came to mind, this is just one verse but it had to do with the White House, anyway, hope it adds a smile....
Now the nation rise as one
To send their only son
Upto the White House
Yes, the nation's only White House
To voice their discontent
Unto the President
They pawn the burning question
What has swept this continent?
If tin whistles are made of tin
What do they make fog horns out of? Boom, boom
Does your chewing gum lose its flavour
On the bedpost overnight?
If your mother says, don't chew it
Do you swallow it in spite?
Can you catch it on your tonsils?
Can you heave it left and right?
Does your chewing gum lose its flavour
On the bedpost overnight?
On the bedpost overnight
Paul writes in Philippians :
Philippians 4:11-13
New King James Version
" Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content: I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."
That last part---"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me"----May I encourage you that no matter what your issue may be, repeat that verse over and over and over, either in your mind or repeat it out loud to yourself, and then be thankful for the strength & courage you receive . Each of us in our life's journey at one time or another require strength and courage to deal with whatever is tossed our way-----God Bless
OH ME!!!!! I am just an innocent bystander, is Trump a Believer? Is Trump a fraud? Factually I do not know 100%, but the 1 thing I am 100% sure of is that I hope God does not appoint you or the previously poster my judge.... I respect and appreciate any opinion, but come on get serious, a Christian board and that attitude.... I am a Marine from way back in the last century and even on my worst sinful days my attitude was a shinning star compared to bitter attitudes today,,,,, allow me to ask—-Where in the hell did respect go? Don’t blame it on someone else, we each are what ever are
Hummmmm, you might be right on target,,,,,, but to me there has never been a time when a believer is called to let his/her light so shine..... I believe this so much that my concern for family & friends is real, the Good Lord does not have to open a door, when he just cracks it a pinch, I take that as an opportunity....
Good Post Steve, but at the end the awakening of a sleeping giant, (church), I just don't know about that I often feel/believe the organized religions are letting the people down.....now I realize not all organized religions are letting people down, but certainly enough to make eye-brows raise.....but then what do I know
Matthew 6:25-34
New King James Version
Do Not Worry
“Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?
“So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?
“Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
The footnotes went like this:
Three times in this text, Jesus says, DO NOT WORRY. Jesus gives 5 reasons why we should not worry.
1--Worry is not consistent---If we can trust Jesus to provide us with our life, can we not trust Him with our daily needs.
2--Worry is irrational --If the Lord cares for the birds, will He not also care for us, since we are more valuable than birds.
3--Worry is ineffective. Who among us can add one cubit (length from the elbow to the tip of the middle finger) to our stature by worrying.
4--Worry is illogical. If God can clothe the Lillies of the field, can He not also clothe us
5--Worry is irreligious. When we worry, we act just like those who do not know God.
To avoid worrying we need a system of priorities: "seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness".....We also need a strategic program: "Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things"
Years ago my dad taught a Sunday school class and he pointed out "that what we worry about rarely ever comes to pass." ----God Bless and you folks have a Blessed Week
In my study Bible in the notes concerning Spiritual Warfare, in Ephesians, I had previously had this hi-lited and thought-----Good Point, & well worth sharing
"Thankfully, our spiritual armor is to be used in a war that has already been won. It is said of Napoleon Bonaparte that as he attempted to conquer all the kingdoms of the known world, he spread the map out on a table, pointed to a specific place, and said to his lieutenants , "Sirs, if it weren't for that red spot, I could conquer the world." That red spot to which he pointed was there British Isles, the very nation that met Napoleon at Waterloo in Belgium and defeated him in league with a group of nations.--------There is no doubt that when Satan talks with his minions about conquering the world, he says the same thing about the red top of Calvary where Christ's blood was spilled : "If it were not for that red spot, I could rule the world."-----But that red spot is what makes all the difference in our spiritual battle. We do not have to live in fear of the devil.---
Sort of a good thought for us to think on this morning-----Faith will carry us through---God Bless and have a good day
I really do not know how or if this applies to anything......but I was conversing with a friend and at the end I used a term----Faith Builders-----"Faith Builders" meaning things that have happened in our lives that has helped us to build our faith or strengthen our faith or to help another on life's journey
What a wonderful thing for each of us to share, real life stories that can touch the heart of another----either planting a seed or watering a seed and God will make it grow----If a stranger visits this board, what do they see? do they get words of encouragement? Do they see Jesus?----Maybe they think---"OH CRAP" I don't need to go there !!! If you have a story that can touch the heart of another might be a good idea to share-----How God loved me and saved me is a story worth sharing. God Bless
watch the movie 13 hours, read the book those guys wrote....I don't get political, but anyone, Dem., Rep., white, black, green, purple, whatever, allows our boys to be in harms way, then hang them out to dry, & allow several to die-----well, they are lower than whale crap and that is on the bottom of the ocean.....Trump was never my candidate of choice, but like I said, hang our boys out to dry and you ain't got my vote....I prefer not to speak of democrat or republican, but what is really the best for my country,, I really miss the America I grew up in----JD I do not know you in any way shape or form, wouldn't know you if you knocked on my door, it appears that we on on different pages, that's OK, WHY? I served in the Marine Corps way back years ago and I hope that helped to preserve the right for us to be on different pages, yet show respect. I have some fb friends who also served in the USMC back years ago, and we are on different pages, yet, I would offer my life in defense of theirs today and likewise they for me. IMO....for way too many years folks have voted "D" or "R" just because , well they don't know except that is what they do.....My Grandma was like that, if a Polecat ran on her ticket---the Polecat got her vote....I was my grandma"s favorite....LOL.....I think, if the good Lord allows me, I will swing to the "L" party....next trip around------Jim Web, a Dem. from Va. would have had my support, but Dem's would not have anything to do with him because he had values & morals. I think each and every one of us need to just step back and look at what our America will be like after not matter who wins-----OH ME!!! Abortion???? You and I both need to thank God everyday that our momma did not for one second consider abortion.
I think the best policy is, for a person to take a few minutes and talk with God about how to vote, patiently wait for the Holy Spirit to guide you----the problem, we don't like to allow the Holy Spirit to take control........giving up control just ain't in the mankind making----God Bless
MY--MY--MY---His opponents want to kill a babies, up to and including after birth, Trumps opponents were big supporters of Benghazi, I could go on & on but you get the picture.------I don't say much on politics, just can't win---however anyone of any party leaves our boys in harms way to die then lie to the public, in no way can they get my vote
"Have become shorthand for abortion"
A few weeks ago on my fb we had a short discussion about shorthand ---- young folks have no idea what shorthand is----I know I am one sick puppy, but I would love to hear what young people's idea of shorthand for abortion means to them----anyway that really caught my eye
I have had this thing floating around in my head for years---never understanding-- it just as well been in Greek...I'll not go into what this was,.....actually that is not the point....Yesterday once again I got to thinking on this thing and thought reckon I best get to checking it out. Now everything I thought previously was not of the Christian nature, nothing bad you see, just sort of everyday 2020 living, anyway I spoke with God and then went to seeking, asking & knocking. I searched for "is there anything in the Bible concerning________" & What does the Bible say about_____?" Most of what I found concerned angels watching over me, warning me, advising me---you know all those things angels sent by God are to do. Then through different resources the one thing that stood out from these resources was Psalm 91----Each of these different resources carried a lot about Psalm 91, with angels watching over me--- so this morning I was over in Luke where Peter denied Jesus, that whole section and this thing came to mind, so I switched from Luke to Psalm 91. Like I said at the 1st of this post, this thing has been with me for years and I never-ever once thought of it on the Spiritual side----yesterday I thought if maybe this thing was Spiritual and went to do a look- see.-----I hope I learn from this, when something strange comes along and just won't go away, I hope I remember to take a moment and ask God is there something here I am missing....Thanks for allowing me to share
Safety of Abiding in the Presence of God---Psalm 91
He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High
Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress;
My God, in Him I will trust.”
Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler
And from the perilous pestilence.
He shall cover you with His feathers,
And under His wings you shall take refuge;
His truth shall be your shield and buckler.
You shall not be afraid of the terror by night,
Nor of the arrow that flies by day
Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness,
Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.
A thousand may fall at your side,
And ten thousand at your right hand;
But it shall not come near you.
Only with your eyes shall you look,
And see the reward of the wicked.
Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge,
Even the Most High, your dwelling place,
No evil shall befall you,
Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling;
For He shall give His angels charge over you,
To keep you in all your ways.
In their hands they shall [c]bear you up,
Lest you]dash your foot against a stone.
You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra,
The young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot.
“Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him;
I will set him on high, because he has known My name.
He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble;
I will deliver him and honor him.
With long life I will satisfy him,
And show him My salvation.”
"Let brotherly love continue. Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some have unwittingly entertained angels". This was from Hebrews 13:1----ever stop to think that maybe doing a good deed to a stranger just might be doing a good deed to a representative of God? But then the question arises---How do I know if it could be an angel sent from God to check me out? Basically, I don't know, but what has worked for me is when I am confronted I take a moment to ask God if I should step forward----if I feel that I should, I do, if I feel nothing, I don't. I suppose it is learning that as a Christian we always have the Holy Spirit walking right along with us and learning to rely upon Him. Remember that song of old---"Just to trust and obey---there is no other way".. OK, my thought for our week-end-----Liberty will be sounded shortly----God Bless
Well, yesterday I royally screwed up, due the nasty ole virus going around when we have to go to the store etc, we go early----then I came home and did a couple of pending things and before I know it my Bible time disappeared----this morning I got up early because we have to make a short trip, got the shower & shave stuff done , came in & flipped on my computer to do a quick check before leaving----this little voice inside said---"do you really want to do that?"----HUMMM O best not screw up 2 days in a row---I wondered is there a message here ---so I did a short prayer, flipped open my Bible and this was right there in front of me. I wonder if we knock the dust off our shoes (so to speak) and go to someone who is willing to hear the gospel, or do we continue to hammer home a message they do not want to hear? After all the Holy Spirit is the one doing the calling---not me.....Just food for thought
Mark 6:10-11
New King James Version
Also He said to them, “In whatever place you enter a house, stay there till you depart from that place. And]whoever will not receive you nor hear you, when you depart from there, shake off the dust under your feet as a testimony against them. ]Assuredly, I say to you, it will be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment than for that city!”
Some years ago I picked up the statement that "I believed people have replaced their religion with politics".......Think on it---we Christians support unchristian values with our vote......I'll go no further....
I do suffer from hoof-n-mouth illness
Well looks as if God has given us another day......... I offer thanks to God for this and try to remember every morning when I awake to offer thanks for another day
2 Corinthians 5:17-21
New King James Version
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not]imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.
Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God. For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
I have been carrying this passage around in my "P" brain for a few days now and thought it is well worth sharing . Towards the end we read where we are ambassadors for Christ. HUMMMM, sort of explains a lot of Jesus's teaching concerning, being the light of the world, the salt of the earth, the lost sheep, the lost coin, and many more things which Jesus taught along His way, maybe as we hear sermons or lessons on any of the above we should consider our position as ambassadors. An ambassador is a high ranking appointed official of the government taking on the responsibility of good will from one country to another-----they are not policy makers or the such, they represent one government to another. A very high level & responsible position to hold. Paul tells us that once we are reconciled to God through Jesus Christ we (should) become ambassadors for Christ. Christ no longer walks on earth, we are to be his head, feet, eyes-----we are to be the body of Christ----We are to be the ones who distribute good will.....we can tell how we were the lost coin, the lost sheep, by doing so we are the salt of the earth, the light of the world , we become an ambassador for Christ. Just a thought, we need not fall into the trap like the church at Laodicean--(Rev. 3:14)-----Much bad stuff is happening all around us today, we just can't wait on the preachers & priest to save the world---Good Luck with that, each person claiming to be a Christian needs to do what a Christian is to do. I am not called to take my Bible and soap box to the corner and shout at the moon, maybe I am just called to be more kind, pleasant, loving and caring to all I meet along my way. Many times I have been just too rushed to take time, I gotta go, I gotta hurry along my way, a few years ago I learned to reverse that attitude and now I find my little corner of the world is a much more pleasant place----my corner of the world did not change, I DID----I offer the challenge to all, take say 30 days and make a real effort to speak to everyone you have eye contact with, when going through a check out line at the store, tell the clerk thank you, maybe even thank you for be pleasant----reckon what I am saying, you know how you think you would like your little corner of the world to be, well step up and be that way-----10 to 1 says you will find your little corner of the world very pleasant ....I learned that walking around negative generally made everything negative, I have learned walking around positive generally makes things positive.......1 kind word goes a long way---God Bless
OH ME !! I don't care how many times one reads the Scripture, study the Scriptures, memorizes the Scriptures, they just never learn much, they may think they do, then POP---something grabs the ole thought pattern about something they did not previously know----anyway---1 Thess. 2: 13--"For this reason we also thank God without ceasing, because when you received the word of God which you heard from us, YOU WELCOMED IT NOT AS THE WORD OF MEN, but as it is in the word of truth, the word of God, which also effectively works in you who believe."------then the footnotes goes like this---"Hearing the word of God with ears is one thing, but welcoming it into the heart so that it is appropriated into one's life is quite another. The Thessalonians believers not only listened to God's word, they received it expectantly and let it change them because they believed it was the word of God, not the word of mere humans".........You know the parable about the sowing of seed and some fell here and some fell there, some died off, some last a little while and then some fell on good soil, took root and really grew and spread........Paul is writing just about that here....In my earlier post this a.m. I said something about the letters being personal, I like making Paul's writing personal to me because something this simple can make me ask myself where I stand---- am I listening and believing human doctrine or am I believing God's word. Now my opinion when someone says "I think" means it is just their opinion & every one has opinions----but here I go---"I THINK" it is sad that so often we go to church and we listen but we don't hear, Maybe I speak from personal experience----I am at times rather thick, as we all know . We had a preacher one time that he & I just didn't see eye to eye on somethings, when I listened and a little voice in me raised a question I felt guilty, like maybe the devil was working on me, yet I wanted to know what was what, after church I would go home and really search & search for answers about my feelings----I never tried to prove another wrong, I always looked for why "I was wrong", why I did not understand, I always ask God to let the Holy Spirit teach me-----now here is the kicker---"ALWAYS" and I mean always I would receive my answer, maybe not the easy way, sometimes I had to search for days, sometimes the answer may take weeks coming, but in God's time the Holy Spirit always gave me the answer......nothing beats experience, and I learned that more often than not that little voice in side me was the Holy Spirit tell me to tread softly. A little experience I had years ago----As many of you know I trailer/truck'd for a living, on this particular day I was driving down the road and listening to a preacher on the radio and whatever it was raised a question, I even turned the radio off and got to thinking of the subject, no answer came, I said to myself-"if my dad was alive he could tell me where in the Bible my answer was"---I went less that a 1/2 a mile and this Scripture came to mind----I was less that 8 miles from my destination and as soon as I drove in and parked I reached over in the jump-seat took my Bible and opened it to that Scripture that popped into my mind and there was the answer to my question--------Things like this really strengthen a person's faith, and great stories to pass on to family and friends.
Can you imagine the sin change that will come from the Pope's thinking on same sex unions, the Prostant's belief's on gay community-----brothers and sister in Christ we need to open our minds to God's words and not Humna words--------If you wonder who is right, talk with God, truly He will lead you
This morning I wasn't sure where or what I wanted to read, so out of habit I just flipped open my Bible and it came right here to 1st Thessalonians and as I started I thought wouldn't it be nice if folks took Paul's letters like he was addressing them personally. I have often taken the openings to his letters and substituted or entered in, say my church's name, I have even entered in my name, making it really personal-----I can read a letter, but when I read a letter addressed to me it carries a different meaning.....Just a morning thought----God Bless
1 Thessalonians 1:1-3
New King James Version
Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy,
To the folks there on the Bible Board in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ:
Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers, remembering without ceasing your work of faith, labor of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ in the sight of our God and Father
Something coming from Paul to us folks here on the Bible Board------sweet music to our ears
May make our Monday a pinch better
all nicely put......I reckon, no not reckon, I know I was off base, I am a rather new visitor here, but I sort of thought or did not know this is open to all subjects, within reason, hummmmm, oh well not my 1st mistake, pretty sure it won't be the last. For folks like me I think and appreciate your post, and as ole Paul Harvey would say---"now you know the rest of the story"-----How did the original guy come up with "Christian Rock Cafe" for a name----interesting & thanks
Enjoyed a bit of yard work, then the ole back said.....what you doing? I will say no more, but just food for thought concerning my morning post.....just because a person has their name on a church role does not make them a Saint.....I just did not want to be held responsible for someone thinking just because they were a church member they were home free.....to believe is different than to think---"I believe I will go fishing"----that means "IF" all conditions are met my way, I will go fishing, if not I will postpone----Spiritually to believe is to be connected to, committed to, to have faith in, to rely on, to trust in.....not just a thing of the mind, but a thing of the heart.----think of believe as like glue sticking to something.....to say I believe is way more than I think-----just a passing thought before a shower and college game prep, love the home style tail-gate----today game treat is my lovely bride is making me some Bar-B-Que from fresh pork....hummmmm......
Now just for personal thoughts....if something spiritual just does not register and you really wonder about it, I find that this has worked for me----just step back and say--"God, I just don't get it, I need some help here.."....then wait, God always in His time answers, may be a minute or less, could be a day or 2 maybe even a month or so......but He always get back to you...always!! each time your faith is strengthened----I have a few really neat stories about my experiences in asking and receiving ...God Bless
I remember that word Liberty sounded so good.....a force march out through the boonies, full pack with rifles , etc, liberty was an angel on your shoulder...
May I step in for Paul for a second, I love his openings---so to you folks here on the Bible Board this morning if I may----Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ."----from 1 Corinthians -----then also, "to the church who is called to be saints"----you & I believe so we are saints...but you knew that, didn't you?...But the way saint is used today is anything but a regular everyday sinner like us, be believe yet we struggle, we try to do what is right but we fail, we ask for strength and courage to over come evil, but some how or another it seems to find us anyway, then we ask for forgiveness and then we receive forgiveness......hard to picture this life as one of a saint.....but God has called us out to be saints....we are not anywhere near perfect, but by God's Grace we are called to be saints. A saint is to belong to God.------ (from the footnotes) SAINT means "one set apart"---people are saints because of God's love and call, not exemplary behavior---
In my footnotes in Romans I saw this and wanted to share----"People do not obey to be saved---they obey because they are saved"
OK---Got your ole brain going for a Saturday morning-----God Bless and have a great week-end
"Every" time I think of a week-end I remember those days back in the Military and hoping and wish'n for week-end liberty and thinking maybe we will get a 72 hr. liberty and only dream of being offered a 96 hour liberty.....I said every time and I honestly think it is EVERY time------can't believe that was 58 years ago------that ole song----"That was the days my friend, I thought they would never end"
Good point, I got into revenge a bit, thought, revenge notes of hatred. Thanks
This subject has always been troublesome for me, maybe because I in my younger days I had no issue with you punch me, well it is coming back, then I have always believed that God gave me a family and I firmly believes expects me to care for them, including protection...Yes I agree, with pray for the enemy, offer help, but at the same time this passage's prior verse Paul writes "If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peacefully with all men......IF POSSIBLE----we are called to do everything in our power to be at peace with others, but because of others crappy attitude being at peace just is not possible, it is possible to avoid confrontation , but not always......Then the 1st time Jesus sent the guys out He told them to take nothing, then towards the end of Jesus's time over in Luke22 :36 He told them if they did not have a sword to sell their garment and buy one....now people say, no, he was speaking of a knife, but in Greek knife and sword are 2 different words and Greek for sword is a weapon, namely for war.....It is said that Jesus recognized all the troubles coming along and was telling them to be prepared......We can come up with many, many passages of Scripture to support both sides of this discussion, but we can't just take a verse or 2 to attempt to get a clear understanding.....I do firmly believe that God takes care, I firmly believe that what comes around, goes around.....but I firmly believe God allows us to care for ourselves.....we are required to do everything we can to promote peace and reconciliation, but this does not mean the other person believes the same way and I don't think God holds us responsible for the outcome. Would be great if we had a big round table, a big ole pot of coffee, several reference books, our Bibles and a couple of evenings to sort this subject out....
from Proverbs 26:4----"Do not answer a fool according to his folly, lest you also be like him."--------If we get to arguing with a fool an innocent bystander will not be able to tell which is the fool.
I dug this up for my fb this morning....then I got to thinking and went and did some reading on "fool" which led me to pride. Then my bad side came out and I got to thinking what some folks post and tried not to be judgmental, but, came to the conclusion that I might have some real high quality ding-bats on my fb page-----NAW!!! You thinking it might be me--lol..but I did wonder if people ever read what they write before they post, not here, I am talking about fb-----anyway, looking into fool & pride is an interesting look-see
You folks have a very blessed week-end and God Loves ya, and we do to
Been out in my shop all day, although I had the radio on, between, the dust collector, the dust machine running, the saws, planers, all I could hear above the buzzing was God saying to me----"You dipstick---you have no idea what you trying to do"........true story, I have 2 sons who are Mech. Engrs. and I have been leaning on their expertise.......but saws, wood, beats politics any day-----God Bless-----We all need a hobby-----beside my shop I love just sitting in a chair watching people......You want to spend a couple of hours having fun----go to a boat dock and watch people trying to launch their boat----now that's entertainment----
I think maybe each person should follow what Jesus said to scribes & Pharisees when they brought to Him a woman caught in adultery------"HE WHO IS WITH SIN AMONG YOU, LET HIM THROW A STONE AT HER FIRST"---------it is a good thing that God is more forgiving than humankind, when I was a youngster my mom would tell us kids, when you are pointing your finger at someone you are pointing 4 fingers right back at yourself-----then mom's saying that I still use often....Clean your front porch before telling another to clean their porch......then maybe it is way to early in the morning for me to do any thinking, but the coffee is really good this morning......
Absolutely no disrespect intended, I saw the 1st of your post and it really caught my eye, then the advertisement for a book deal,,,,, while I appreciate the heads up on a good book, I got lost on the advertisement,,,,
I found it very interesting how I thought one thing, was taught one thing and now at 77 learn it differently. From Matthew 16:18 --"And I say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell will not prevail against it."----------NOW---before I go further allow me to say this is not for argumentative purposes, nor tooting my horn, chatting about something I learned that I misunderstood in the past, I spent 2 days (maybe 6 - 8hours) hung up on this, not saying I am 100% right. Appears to be a play on words in the Greek----Peter is= petros a stone-----rock is = Petra---a massive rock. We know that the church is built upon Christ and we understand that Christ is the chief corner stone....1 Peter 2:4-8----Coming to Him as to a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God and precious, you also, as living stones, are built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. Therefore it is also contained in Scripture---"BEHOLD I LAY IN ZION A CHIEF CORNER STONE, ELECT, PRECIOUS, and he who believes on Him will by no means be put to shame. Therefore, to you who believe , HE IS PRECIOUS; but to those who are disobedient, the stone which the builders rejected has become the chief corner stone and a stone of stumbling and a rock of offense. They stumble, being disobedient to the word, to which they also were appointed.----also Paul writes in 1 Cort. 3:11--no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ......Let me go back to petros---a stone, when I looked up the greek it is say like a chip off the rock, small, something moveable and we know how Peter was moveable in faith, much like each of us, we don't mean to but we waiver, we are little stones, but our continued faith allow us to be built upon that massive Petra, the rock which can not be moved, the rock, Jesus Christ Himself.
Something to kick you ole brain in gear this morning.....God Bless
just for the heck of it I went to duckduckgo and ask if 911 trade was a signal, folks use to say it was, anyway it read that 911 trade was a market maker signal for news on the way----now don't shoot me, I am just a messenger of what I read. I don't do much playing pennies anymore, found my money went further in Vegas, but I do remember years ago how folks would mention different trades signaled different things......Like I said don't shoot me, I am an old retired guy struggling from one day to the next, in the mornings if I see the sun, I sort of figure I hit the lottery
Thought for the day: Of all the organized religions here in USA , of all the thousand & thousands of preachers, have you notice that Franklin Graham is the only one appearing in TV ads asking people to Pray that God will bless our nation----he is not asking for donations only that people will accept God back into our lives, allow God back in our schools and our country....Those TV spots are not cheap, but he just ask us to invite God back. I've been a Methodist for 77 years, I have to ask myself where are they, maybe each of us should ask the same question of ourselves and our faith choice----If you are a person of the Faith you owe it to yourself to ask is my faith choice putting into practice what they preach? Jus say'n--------God Bless America again
When I was a little guy, maybe 5 , anyway I caught the curtains on fire while playing with a candle, that started me pushing my luck, looking back I see no reason for being alive today..... we , well ME, had to have an angel looking after me, although one Angel probably wasn’t enough
Matthew 14:25-32
New King James Version
" Now in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went to them, walking on the sea. And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out for fear.
But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.”
And Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.”
So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus. But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!”
And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased."
We read and think of Peter and a lack of faith, but we don't think about the others who stayed in the boat, those who see but did not respond. Is not life today much the same, some try to follow Jesus , they stumble, fall down, they get all dusty & dirty, yet they as Peter call out "Lord Save Me" and we are pulled out of all the muck of life and saved----then they are ever so many who who see the Faith and just sit there in their little boat of life and out of fear or whatever life has them entangled in, they never do as Peter did----"Lord Save Me"-------Think on this, there are no man-made requirements imposed on "ANYONE" wishing to be saved for life in eternity with God, the Father , Jesus the Son and the Holy Spirit------the only requirement is for us to be as Peter---we know we are sinking and we reach out and say "Lord Save Me."----My opinion here....that would be step #1, then we "learn" to rely on the Holy Spirit to lead and direct us------We just like Peter can be derailed by the ruff waters and the blowing winds of life, we also can easily loose focus---but we just reach out and ask...."Help Me Lord"----Sort of just like the thief on the cross next to Jesus----he did not belong to a church, he did not give money to the church, he was not baptized-----he just reached out in his own way-----God Bless and have a very good week-end
as I understand it, and I am technology ignorant, I can turn it on and off and my Cell Phone I like to say hello and good bye and text....and that took me a while....lol....but as I understand it duckduckgo does not offer your information out like google., if I google something in 10 seconds I get an ad for what I was seeking information on, so far duckduckgo I don't have that issue......OOOPPPPS !!! Bible Board so allow me to thank God for this another great day and although I have my share of aches & pains so thankful for being at 77 rather healthy and I ask God to Grant those who are suffering,, the strength and courage and comfort to deal with life's ups & downs-----I try never to over look the brokenhearted----often this is the worse pain.....Thank you Lord
my bride got me to using duckduckgo.....I trying to stay from google, habit hard to break
Down there at the last line, it said "God cares about the lost people." I thought "Sure glad he sent out a search party for me."
I always remember what Paul wrote, although I had to look it up to see where it was, I remember always what he wrote---Gal. 6:10---"Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith."---------------Then in the footnote I read----"Even doing good to unbelievers is important, the 1st test of our love for God is our love for our brothers and sisters in the household of faith. If we do not show love to the body of Christ, we do not truly have the love of God in our hearts"------I always thought of it as a parent & their child.....do we give to the kids down the street or another city and neglect those of our household? Certainly the answer is NO......Sometimes living the Christian Faith is just common everyday horse sense ......
AMEN---I ask my church many times over the years, why is all the money going thousands miles away to help -- when our neighbors are in such need. Think on this if you will......Take a map of any city, then on the map insert a colored head pin every place a church is-----now tell me why if the church was doing as the Bible teaches ----- WHY is there any need? Look at all the Gov't assistance------WHY is anyone in America in need? Maybe somewhere along the line we lost our priority, we dropped what is important, maybe we have fallen further from grace than we can imagine, maybe we just wait on someone else to step up, ain't my job...............I have even notice that when religious organizations step up they are making the mistake I made years ago....."I did this or I did that"---leaving God out and allowing my/our pride to take credit.............I been there ---done that---and probably have a "T" shirt on it
God Bless
Welcome to the “Satan try’s to get me club “——-he just won’t ever give up, but I often use Psalm 50:15 to bail my sorry butt out. I am learning that I am no match for the devil, my only hope is God, the problem is taking things out of my hands and putting in God’ hands——-when I remember to call on the lord all works out OK, when I depend on ME , well what can I say
I really liked this one.......I wrote the Scripture down and want to see what study Bibles say about this....thanks, You a good man Charlie Brown
