OH ME !! I don't care how many times one reads the Scripture, study the Scriptures, memorizes the Scriptures, they just never learn much, they may think they do, then POP---something grabs the ole thought pattern about something they did not previously know----anyway---1 Thess. 2: 13--"For this reason we also thank God without ceasing, because when you received the word of God which you heard from us, YOU WELCOMED IT NOT AS THE WORD OF MEN, but as it is in the word of truth, the word of God, which also effectively works in you who believe."------then the footnotes goes like this---"Hearing the word of God with ears is one thing, but welcoming it into the heart so that it is appropriated into one's life is quite another. The Thessalonians believers not only listened to God's word, they received it expectantly and let it change them because they believed it was the word of God, not the word of mere humans".........You know the parable about the sowing of seed and some fell here and some fell there, some died off, some last a little while and then some fell on good soil, took root and really grew and spread........Paul is writing just about that here....In my earlier post this a.m. I said something about the letters being personal, I like making Paul's writing personal to me because something this simple can make me ask myself where I stand---- am I listening and believing human doctrine or am I believing God's word. Now my opinion when someone says "I think" means it is just their opinion & every one has opinions----but here I go---"I THINK" it is sad that so often we go to church and we listen but we don't hear, Maybe I speak from personal experience----I am at times rather thick, as we all know . We had a preacher one time that he & I just didn't see eye to eye on somethings, when I listened and a little voice in me raised a question I felt guilty, like maybe the devil was working on me, yet I wanted to know what was what, after church I would go home and really search & search for answers about my feelings----I never tried to prove another wrong, I always looked for why "I was wrong", why I did not understand, I always ask God to let the Holy Spirit teach me-----now here is the kicker---"ALWAYS" and I mean always I would receive my answer, maybe not the easy way, sometimes I had to search for days, sometimes the answer may take weeks coming, but in God's time the Holy Spirit always gave me the answer......nothing beats experience, and I learned that more often than not that little voice in side me was the Holy Spirit tell me to tread softly. A little experience I had years ago----As many of you know I trailer/truck'd for a living, on this particular day I was driving down the road and listening to a preacher on the radio and whatever it was raised a question, I even turned the radio off and got to thinking of the subject, no answer came, I said to myself-"if my dad was alive he could tell me where in the Bible my answer was"---I went less that a 1/2 a mile and this Scripture came to mind----I was less that 8 miles from my destination and as soon as I drove in and parked I reached over in the jump-seat took my Bible and opened it to that Scripture that popped into my mind and there was the answer to my question--------Things like this really strengthen a person's faith, and great stories to pass on to family and friends.

Can you imagine the sin change that will come from the Pope's thinking on same sex unions, the Prostant's belief's on gay community-----brothers and sister in Christ we need to open our minds to God's words and not Humna words--------If you wonder who is right, talk with God, truly He will lead you
