FDEs are now on the order pages of German and Austrian websites. I guess all European sites are updated, so you can FINALLY order FDEs with Wave via web!

Orda et all RE: Infineon......to make several points clear
1. right now Infineon ships MORE TPMs than the rest
2. the IFX software is NOT free, it is calculated in the chip price
3. Except HP, most other OEMs, using IFX TPM don´t preinstall the IFX TPM software. You´ll have to download the TPM drivers from their websites
4. MOST of the OEM branded software suites don´t need the TPM turned on to activate Fingerprint or personal vaults. Even HPs credential manager stores the passwords on the harddisc as DEFAULT! HP, Acer, Sony, Asus have their OWN branded suite which by DEFAULT don´t use the TPM!
So yes IFX will have a broader installed TPM base, but I guess Waves ETS will be activated more often...

Hi Alea....thanx for invitation, it´s always a pleasure to talk with folks like you. It´s not really the bet itself, Bleu released me from this bet, it´s more the noise on the different boards and the time it consumes. I followed the boards for about 4 years now, began posting in 2005 and now it´s time for me to reduce my time dedicated to WAVX. I´ll pass by sometimes and I´ll stay invested until it´s over, one way or the other. BTW I still count on our success, but for now, I´ll take care of my own company and especially my family.
And the sentence, which shouldn´t miss:
See ya in Vegas!
Nice weekend all

Alea....right on, IMO each month potential competitors are sleeping, is helping Wave to get market share. And reported revenues of under 10M/Q won´t wake up any of the gorillas, I hope. So we´ve plenty of time (2 quarters) to sell our stuff before the awake!LOL

Samk, Dory and all......the point is why can Wave not say what they know and perhaps want to say about the deployment of a new tech. Dory made a VERY valid statement:
"I would not be in the least surprised that companies like Dell and Seagate, when launching new products like FDE equipped laptops containing components or software from a small company like Wave, insist on being in control of the marketing and timing of announcements"
I would add another possible hint to Dorys approach:
Securing data (at rest and in motion) is one of the MAIN topics right now. The BIG OEMs joined different approaches to this issue:
1. HP ignores HW based encryption and relies on the traditional software approach via their Safeboot bundling
2. Dell sees their chance to regain their leading position through the NEW TCG HW encrytion approach with Seagate AND Wave. Dell has realised that encrytion without centralized key management and access controll doesn´t fullfill the needs of their customers in the future
3. Lenovo recognised that HW encryption will win over software based solutions, but haven´t thought about their lack of centralized key management.
Sorry to ignore Acer here, but for me Acer´is focused on consumer supply. I see no Acer machines in midsized or large enterprises in Austria. So IMO Acer would be a NICETOHAVE for Wave, but nothing more.
Now why should Dell/STX/Wave want to keep things secret until the first battle is won?

(edit)Cosign...they know what Wave has, but they don´t know IF Wave can sell this stuff!LOL
It´s like sitting on the sideline as an investors and waiting for the proof of success, before investing. More expensive with less risk.

Cosign.......shouting out loud the tremendous demand for TCG compliant products like ETS, ETDM would engage GORILLAS, which would become competitors, sooner than Wave can afford to. We would loose market share before we get it! WHEN you´re in the box, WHEN you´ve booked sales with HUGE customers, you can talk about it, NOT before. An existing customer wouldn´t change it´s security architecture he has JUST bought, but during the evaluation process it´s easy to turn the customer to your side, especially if you´re a worldwide operating company with a huge installed customer base....
Believe me, we all want to know what we don´t know, but some information released by Wave could hurt...

Dell D630 and D830 - Are the World’s Most Secure Commercial Notebooks
Dell today announced the world’s most secure notebooks with the addition of a managed hardware-based encryption solution on its Latitude D630 and D830. The industry-first solution delivers improved performance versus software based encryption and automated compliance reports so customers are confident that encryption is enabled.
As the latest development in Dell’s strategy to simplify IT for all its customers, the new data security offering is an easy-to-use and scalable solution that enables comprehensive data protection and automated compliance auditing for lost, stolen or recycled notebooks.
The combination of Seagate Momentus full disk encryption (FDE) hard drive and Wave Systems Corp. EMBASSY solutions provides a number of advantages over software-based encryption, including stronger security, faster performance and always-on encryption.
The Latitude D630 and D830 are available today with the Dell managed HW encrypting HDD solution.

AWK and all......this was a NORMAL Dell event where Wave has a booth, it was NO FDE show like the ones in the states. The NDA is with Dell.
It´s quite clear that Dell wants to keep their new product lines secret. But it doesn´t matter WHAT product will be introduced WHEN. The main point is that we are NOW on ALL business machines of the OLD and the NEW lines!

Report from Dell Solutions Tour in Vienna.....
Well there are not many things to report here, what we don´t already know. But it´s always nice to see things HAPPEN as awaited. What I´m allowed to say is that we are on ALL new Dell business machines with our ETSL (preinstalled) now available and on all the machines which will be introduced in the next months.....
Dell is shipping FDEs, you can order FDEs in Europe right now via call, and the Dell rep told us that SOOOON (Nov 15th) it´ll be on ALL Europe sites of Dell as an option in the configure section.
The demand for FDEs is huge and MANY BIG companies already have ordered SMALL demo packages.
There were about 500 attendies, most from BIG Austria/German companies like ÖBB, Trumpf and others....
Things are happening NOW, with more to come in the next Qs...hopefully

Sorry but no more information, but I guess Dell recongized, that ther distribution channel has lost against the point of sale model, so finally they try to REACH the customer. The first sign for me was their marketing line "solutions". "We´re not interested in selling hardware, we want to provide SOLUTIONS for your enterprise. To provide this you need consultants and companies like ASAP.
NO KNOWLEDGE, JUST A GUESS.....

24601....what Doma means:
(BTW he´s right)
FDE option for the D630
120GB Encrypted HDD, 5400RPM with Wave Embassy Trust Suite for Dell 3.0 [add $169]
FDE option for the D630c
120GB Encrypted Hard Drive, 9.5MM, 5400RPM [add $120]
obviously a mistake, but if NOT the delta is 49 bucks WITHOUT Waves software, so if we get 7, then Dell gets 42 for our ETS (seems wrong to me, like the hole option...)
And of course both have TPMs and are shipped with ETSL, IF someone doesn´t choose the FDE drive!
BR
ISPRO
Doma....probably the same mistake, we saw in the first days of FDE appearance. Dells page changes often and is often corrected, in this case IMO we´ll soon see a correction, since we know ETSL is bundled on the 630c and there would be no reason to build in a worthless fde drive
