SHENYANG, China--(BUSINESS WIRE)--A-Power Energy Generation Systems, Ltd. (NASDAQ:APWR - News)(NASDAQ:APWRW - News)(NASDAQ:APWRU - News) ("A-Power"), announced today that it has entered into an agreement to acquire Liaoning International Construction and Engineering Group (LICEG), one of China’s leading construction and engineering companies.
LICEG was incorporated under the Construction Commission of the Liaoning Province, and is one of a limited number of construction and engineering companies in China with a Class-A license that permits it to undertake international power and infrastructure projects and to construct various power systems, energy and infrastructure projects of any size in China. A-Power currently has a Class-B construction license and must work with Class-A companies to complete the construction of its distributed power generation systems over 25 MW in size.
Since its inception in 1993, LICEG has completed a large number of projects in not only China, but in Africa, Eastern Europe and the Asian Pacific region. In the latest fiscal year for which audited financials are available (2006), LICEG recorded revenue of approximately US$70 million and net income of approximately US$2.3 million.

A-Power plans to expand internationally and LICEG’s international experience will dramatically accelerate our entry into those markets.
“We are confident that we can leverage the talented professionals in LICEG to increase the revenue generation and profits from our core distributed power generation business. In addition, by grafting our processes and control systems onto their contracts we expect to be able to bring their profit margins up to ours."

APWR new LOIs:
A-Power Receives LOIs for 380 2.5 MW Wind Turbines
Friday February 1, 10:21 am ET
SHENYANG, China--(BUSINESS WIRE)--A-Power Energy Generation Systems, Ltd. (NASDAQ: APWR - News, APWRW - News, APWRU - News) ("A-Power"), announced today that its wholly owned Chinese operating subsidiary, Liaoning GaoKe Energy Group (“GaoKe”), has received letters of intent for 380 2.5 MW wind turbines, a number that will utilize all of its anticipated plant capacity through 2009. The company is presently engaged in negotiations to finalize these contracts and turn them into purchase orders. As was previously announced, the first phase of the plant is scheduled to be completed in the third quarter of this year.
Mr. Edward Meng, A-Power’s CFO commented, “As we have previously announced, we have recently acquired rights to both 2.5 MW turbines from Fuhrlander AG of Germany and 225 kW and 750 kW turbines from Norwin A/S of Denmark and we are planning to begin producing these in our new facility in Shenyang later this year. At this time we are very glad to report that we have already received a number of letters of intent that aggregate to 380 units to purchase the 2.5 MW turbines. In addition, we have received a number of LOI’s for Norwin’s 750 KW turbines. As previously stated, the sales price for the 2.5MW wind turbine is expected to be RMB 20 to 24 million ($2.7 to $3.2 million), while the 750kw turbine is expected to sell for RMB 3.4 to 3.7 million ($0.46 to $0.51 million). Both are expected to have gross margins of approximately 8 to 12%. In order to meet this demand as quickly as possible, we are making arrangements to import many of the subassemblies from suppliers around the world that presently supply Fuhrlander and Norwin. Over time we are confident that we will be able to identify second-source qualified suppliers for many of these subassemblies in China to further improve the gross margins.”

I agree that the stock should have rallied on Q2 numbers and guidance. But the PR came out 3 weeks ago, and to be up 40% all in one day seems a bit odd, especially since volume was greater today than combined volume since the PR leading up to today.
Makes you wonder if someone knows something.
Thanks.

Up 44% today as this is written. Anyone know why?

And I yours!
I hope that you are right about $5 million for 2007. Frankly, I would be happy enough with $1,250,00 for Q4 2007, and guidance toward $5 million for 2008.
Thanks.
10,800 shares of a $.13 stock. @ $1,300. Meaningless.
I hope that future PRs can move the stock. Yesterday's was a complete non-event.
In April 2006, the Company issued a press release that said:
"Labwire is on track for an annualized run rate of $4 million for 2006 in comparison to the $1.8 million annualized run rate from a year ago this time according to Dexter Morris, CEO of Labwire, Inc."
Perhaps I've missed it, but is there any reason to think that 2008 holds much greater promise than this projection for 2006? I haven't seen a new contract PR since January, and while recent numbers were not bad, they were not particularly good either. Looks to me like the company has been basically break even for the past 2 years or so, and is currently treading water.
I am very long this stock, but wonder if the current story is as good as it is likely to get.
Thanks.
