I'm glad all you guys love the food. As a devout vegan (yep, no meat or diary of any kind for two years plus) I won't be trying any SMKY products anytime soon, but I know that most people will continue to choose to eat meat and I'm glad there's a healthier option soon to hit the national market. What a great company we've invested in. Have a great weekend and don't forget to thank a vet!
You're saying you think this is going to $3 in a few years?? :)
Nice today. Got back from a meeting. SMKY is doing what we've known it would/will. No surprises here, but great to see! Hope everybody has a safe, sane, wonderful 4th of July weekend...!
chug, chug, chug along. feel like the train is pulling out of the station. a little sad i didn't quite hit my goal yet, it's getting more and more costly (although still smart) to accumulate...but nice to see these steady increases, all in preparation for launching in August.
July is going to be a good month of putting in a very solid, and higher base for launch!
If it was only that easy.
If this board found 5 more hidden gems today, it wouldn't help me get any closer to my long term goals. I already have two hidden gems, WNRC and SMKY.
I also have a bunch of other stocks that I think will eventually run, but aren't long term consistent gainers. Problem is, they're not short term gainers either. They're not worth selling this low, and they'll have their run someday...but they're not much good for growing a portfolio.
What I need are those solid short term gainers combined with the occasional hidden gem so that as the right hand captures steady gains, it can hand the left hand some of those profits to tuck away into future monsters.
That's why I really like this board. :)
True...you would have to split it up. However, before I found your board, I (and I'm sure many others) had developed my own personal trading goals/plan by something like this, although I used something more along the lines of 2 trades per month at 15-20%. You can do it a million ways obviously, but the whole point is this you don't have to put all your eggs in one basket.
So once you hit your comfort level you split again...maybe that's 2x your original investment. So using your chart starting with 10k, you split on month 5 into two "accounts" of 12k. Then you merely find 2 plays that will meet the criteria of 25% in a month. Not too hard, at least in terms of tracking. Now, in terms of timing and choosing the right stocks, that's a different story, but in terms of ability to track two separate money streams - very easy. And it repeats, month 8 you split again into 4 groups of 12k, etc.
Even after a year you're only dealing with 8 separate money streams, still not too overwhelming, and there's the real possibility that at that point your risk threshold has gone up. Also, there's the real possibility that after maintaining a disciplined approach to capturing "small" consistent gains, that when you find a hidden gem, you have a significant amount of capital to pour into it instead of having all of your funds tied up in "the next big stock" that you know probably has half a chance in hell of ever doing anything. I'm sure we've all been there.
The real value in this, for me, is that it shows me that it's ok to be satisfied with small gains, not to be greedy, and that if I would have started trading like this earlier, I would have way more shares of both SMKY and WNRC than I do because I would have had a lot more capital in the types of stock that it wouldn't get stuck in.
Sorry for the long post. I think this is a great board. Very excited about both SMKY and WNRC and also about using a disciplined investing strategy to really enhance my ability to maximize my investments in these hidden gems when they appear.
Anybody else even monitor this board anymore?
Yeah, that .01 break sure would be nice. This thing is thin when it ever gets volume. Of course...volume is pretty rare. I keep hoping EOSI will have its day once again. Until then, just holding steady...
Sure would be nice if we got news of a r/m here sometime in the next couple of weeks. I know that's probably just wishful thinking...been here a long time, just never posted...now would just be a really nice time for BGTH to shock us all and do what we know is a possibility.
Don't you mean frozen? ;)
If I could afford to buy more here I would ... sometimes the funds pour in, sometimes it's a trickle. Been a trickle lately.
Great news! No suprise there's more good news from WNRC showing additional revenue streams without any impact to the stock structure or debt profile of the company. Just keeps getting better...and will continue.
Eddie,
Great to hear your input! I do understand it doesn't account for a lot of things, and as you point out, at this point, it would be impossible for any number of people to make this decision due to the extremely tight share structure. I of course, was by no means suggestion anyone take this route, I was more offering an analysis of my own position, and to show that a) the fund is an AWESOME investment, but b) I'm so confident in the long term success of SMKY that I'm choosing to keep my money in common stock because I do believe it's going over .67, and hopefully well into triple digits.
Great thing about all this, is you look at either option and say, "SMKY is going to make me a lot of money no matter which way I go."
I also think you're spot on with the reason there hasn't been a big influx and the reason that (apparently) lease fund units are selling well...people, at least the friends that I've talked to and referred, are much more prone to look at something like the oven lease fund because of the stigma of the entire penny market in general.
I think your plan that you're putting into action with raising capital through this method is, in my inexperienced eyes, borderline genius. I'm very excited to see what the future holds for us longs.
As do I. I'm quite confident that Eddie is going to take this thing to triple digits. If I wasn't, I would have sold my shares to buy a couple of units of the oven lease fund.
I did a spreadsheet, which I don't know how to insert in here, I guess I could do it as a screenshot if I knew how to do that as well - just something I whipped up real quick, that takes into account the annual return for 3 years, any potential profit from exercise of the warrants, etc, and lines it up with what you would have if you took the same investment and bought stock with it at today's PPS. It's kind of interesting.
I originally did it in .05 increments, although I might go back and do it in .01...like right now. (brb) :)
Ok, so bottom line is that somewhere between .66 and .67 PPS when oven lease fund is converted it becomes more profitable to buy shares now and hold. However, that does not take into consideration the fact that at full production, the complete 30% is paid to the fund by the middle of the second month, and will be paid to members/owners of the fund units in the first quartely check. So, taking that 30% check and rolling it back in SMKY stock (or other investments) 3 times would of course result in substantially more profits from the same initial investment in the oven lease fund, pushing the equilibrium point much higher than .67
Anyway, this was all just kind of a fun little exercise to see where exactly the numbers cross in terms of stock at today's price vs. investing in the oven lease fund. My point is simply that I wouldn't be holding all of my stock for the long haul if I didn't think this was going past .67 ... and by that, I mean substantially into triple digits.
Just curious if anybody else did the math and got the same result?
And if someone that knows how to post screenshots can give me a super quick tutorial, I could post the spreadsheet as a picture for anyone interested...
hmmm...I wonder who might have gotten those 17k this morning. ;) I'm building my future wealth little blocks at a time, when we're in dollar(s) range in the next few years, 17k will look nice.
Yep, I know a few also. Pending my upcoming lack of a job as I exit the Army and go back for a second undergrad, I don't have the money, but have passed it on and have some interested friends. What a great deal...about as low risk, high return as it gets right there. I don't expect the 50 units to last long.
Feel free to take your time on that...just put another transfer in from the bank (payday today) to the brokerage ... takes a few days, gotta get myself some more SMKY down here at .06 range before the next leg up. ;)
"sabot rounds" from the french word meaning "shoe" have "shoes" that split off from the DU "slug" upon exiting the bore, allowing the round to carry much more kinetic energy in a much smaller round, resulting in incredible penetrating ability...
... $H, seems to me we have some "sabots" around here that are about to get jettisoned off in the sand as we continue this streamlined launch with minimal resistance!
Will someone explain to me if I have an order in higher than the bid that's showing up on iHub, why the bid doesn't move up to my bid?
Cleared out the garage ... got a few days to wait for Ebay and a few days to wait for PayPal... then a few days to wait for transfer to brokerage. Soon though some more funds will be available.
However, took your advice and cleaned out the "junk" in my port. Still waiting for some to sell, as I have a couple of POS VERY low volume stocks, but ... looking to add another handful this morning.
If in fact you're correct, I'll say, "Remember when SHAR ran back in May/June? Yeah, that was a good time. Too bad it's back down at these levels. Glad I took profits along the way as part of a disciplined trading strategy."
Either way this is a win-win for me, and for a LOT of other people that are already up significant percentages. Only time will tell what SHAR does ... I'll either make a decent profit, or a killer profit. You, on the other hand, if you indeed don't buy as you say you haven't/won't, will make no profit. If you're right in a few months, you can boost your ego with all the "told-you-so's" that you want...I'll take my extra cash and move on to the next money-maker.
I was kind of half kidding. But only half. I seriously have so much crap in my garage I don't need...earlier today I was thinking how often I think it's not worth it to jettison the crap I have accumulated for a few hundred dollars. Then today I thought, "Self, SMKY is trading at about .06 right now. Do I think it will go to at least $1 in the next 2-3 years? Yeah...probably more and sooner. But $1 would do. Ok self, if you sell a bunch of that stuff that you don't use and other people will buy, and take that piddly $500 and buy 8,000 more shares..." well...8 extra grand is nothing to sneeze at, least not to me.
Wooooo hooooo!!!! Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls ... get 'em now while you can. Buckle in. Hold on tight. It might not be fast like some super momo P&Ds...but, come the latter half of the summer into the fall, we are going to be SMOKIN' (pun intended) ;)
GREAT, GREAT, GREAT newsletter by Eddie. Wow. I hope you're all reading it right now.
Yes sir, time to pawn the car, list every item in the garage on eBay, up my shares, and hold on tight!
PianoMan...don't think ya have to worry about this getting "lost" to eyes over the weekend.
Wow!
Have a great weekend everyone.
35k? Even better, like you said. :)
I mean, I know there are other franchises out there that have low start up costs, but they're nothing, I mean, nothing comparable to Smoky in terms of product. And 35k is definitely doable for a LOT of people, again, especially those looking for something when they have that middle life crisis or are looking at retirment age and not being able to retire b/c of money.
All of that being said though, I know that's a ways down the road...it's just one thing that I love about SMKY is there are so many fronts to this thing. The SS attracted me initially but when you start digging in and seeing how the business plan is kind of an inverted pyramid in that any initial rollout that puts us at significant production will quickly produce revenues needed to launch other "phases" or "waves" of Eddie's plan. It just keeps going and growing. It's kind of hard to wrap my mind around.
I'm kind of hoping that things stay quiet here for another few weeks. Another stock that's been red for about 6 momnths in my portfolio finally went green today...hoping it will peak in a couple of weeks giving me more funds to split between here and WNR* both for bid support and to increase my position.
And why the food court? I mean, sure, food court is where people go to get food. But you're not limited to a food court where the building is designed to support food service locations. Why not somewhere AWAY from the food court? Possibilities are ..... endless.
Don't quote me, someone can go back and look, I feel like somewhere I read or heard that Eddie's plan is for a startup cost of around $50k. That might not even be close, or I might be really confused - again, I can't remember why that number is in my head. I feel like he may have talked about it in the ... was it stockgoodies interview or something like that? Someone clarify, I can't listen again while I'm at work :)
BUT ... check out this list. Besides the quality of product. Besides the advantages in minimal staffing, management, equipment, training, etc. Besides the lack of competition in this niche of the food service market. Two words resonate with me ... AFFORDABLE = ACCESSIBLE. Don't know how accurate this is, but I think it's probably pretty close. Take a look at these common franchises. Many may know this, but it's good quick reading. The startup costs/criteria for these franchises scream NOT ACCESSIBLE. http://franchises.about.com/od/choosingafranchise/tp/popular-food-franchise-costs.htm
Again, knowingly repeating myself. There is a market for Smoky BBQ food. BUT, there's a HUGE and not really talked about market for folks that want to have ownership of a business married with the benefits of a franchise, which is exactly what Eddie's plan lays out and why he dubbed the term "franship." There is no middle ground right now for folks that have the second American dream. The first is home ownership. The second is owning their own business/being their own boss. Absolutely supported by independent surveys. People want to own their own business. Two biggest limiting factors are risk (which the more management, personnel, training required, the higher the risk of not running it well), and lack of necessary assets.
Smoky addresses both of these in a way that IMO nothing else out there does right now. Big market for folks who care less about BBQ but want financial security in the ownership of a business in a system that provides EVERYTHING necessary for success...and, oh, by the way, they get a top of the line product to boot. NO. BRAINER.
It really is beautiful. No creating a Hamburger University like McDonald's. No worrying about whether or not you're going to have uniform quality across the board. There's no wondering. I don't want to speak above my knowledge of this business, but from the information I've read in terms of the vision of stand-alone modular units/kiosks/restaurants...it's like a no-brainer. I mean, it's like anybody with people skills, a few management skills, and common sense could be successful. Pure genius IMO.
All those folks that are scared to take a huge financial risk, don't think they have skills to pursue a second career or learn something complex, but realize they don't have the funds left in their 401k or other retirement to maintain a lifestyle - all those baby-boomers, this is seriously a no-brainer. National Brand? Absolutely. Can't put a McD's or BK in a mall unless it's in the food court with all the kitchen equipment, etc, etc. Smoky kiosks ... who knows folks, in a few years they might be all over the place.
Ok, enough long posts from me...I'll go back to my mostly silent watching. :)
I don't know that they would have to have really good training for the franchises - or more technically, Eddie's vision of a "franship." I mean, training is essential no matter what, but part of the beauty of SMKY is that they centrally smoke all of their product and so there's no need for the individual restaurants/eateries to have to do the cooking, have the kitchen equipment, do the training on how to prepare the food, etc.
This is by far one of the (IMO) genius parts of the overall SMKY plan. When Eddie and crew create the revenues through other channels (such as WF, other chains, etc.) to fund expansion into module sales with FranShips, the training will be minimal, the equipment will be minimal, the space needed will be minimal, the employees will be minimal. It's incredible. Affordable, accessible, doable for all of those people that Eddie talked about appealing to as potential owners.
Sorry to drift off-topic from your post, but this plan has the potential to explode.
What? You mean you didn't know Wenr is in th voice recognition software business and wall mounted aquariums? ;) I've heard there's a huge market for those aquariums.
i got some .20s this morning right at open. :) moves my average up a bit, but i'm quite confident i'll be happy with the .20s i got
Picked up another small position this morning, just another 5k. Not much compared to some, but had to go digging around for cash this weekend. :) Thanks to eBay, my guitar collection is dwindling from 16 down to about 8, but I'm quite confident b/n WNRC and another little "smokin" hot stock, in a few years, the money from those guitars that were sitting in my music room unplayed will be substantially more. :)
BTW, good morning to all after the long weekend for those that were off yesterday. Here's to another short week, and big things on the horizon!
Yeah, I know it's technically off topic, but it's valuable to remember, it's the reason the markets are closed today, and if iHub is willing to put a link at the top of the page, I think it's ok. ?
Don't forget to thank all your vets and folks currently in the uniformed services. Takes a FREE market in a FREE society to allow us to participate in the American dream of capitalism.
$H - thanks for your previous service in uniform, and continued service to investors with providing solid information here on SHAR and others.
What a pleasant surprise to see so many new posts this evening. Ya know, SMKY is one of the few boards of all the stocks I hold or have held that has such a communal sense of agreement. A couple of the other boards I get so tired of all the stupid back and forth predictions and bashing of the stock. It's nice to have some new folks on board here. Wish I had the funds to add to my position on Tuesday, but maybe soon. Kinda tough now that I've made the decision to leave the Army and be income-less in a couple months. :) In the meantime, I think I'm ok where I'm at.
Looking forward to next week!
Good morning all...quite morning so far. Looking forward to a good week here as we move ever closer to eventual news and an explosion of PPS.
Let this be a lesson to those that see a good thing, buy a good thing, watch a good think drift lower ... fail to average down, get antsy, and sell for a loss.

Ouch.
Holding onto SMKY. We will watch this happen in the near future.
good to see the bid/ask has tightened up some. seems kind of crazy that a couple of days ago people were hesitating to scoop up the .03s and below, and now there's bid support at .053 ... shows what happens if you wait with something like this. these prices are going to be gone forever soon i think.
it's looking like in the immediate future i may be able to pull funds/profits from another stock and move over here to provide bid support and increase my position.
Haha...Rhino, I had to laugh at this post. You "sense" that a large portion is held very tightly? I think if I glanced at your portfolio and looked at share count under SMKY, I would probably "sense" a large portion was tightly held also. ;)
Glad there's a lot of shares in long, strong hands!
