It will be a poetic justice for the longs if IDCC comes out with NEWS....significant NEWS would be even better....to mess with these manipulating strategies (because these strategies will try to unwind after the dividend day and that usually hits the stock).
Praying for one such miracle from IDCC.
goodluck al longs!

LTE, not just Merritt. Looks like all the FORM 4s are the result of vested RSUs minus tax related sales. So, everyone kept net shares.

Jeffrey, quick question. Do you know the price paid for these options? Ameritrade was/is showing a price of 40 cents which seems to be a bit high. The other day...I think it was on Wednesday....the same strike price (Jan 70) showed big volume with a price of around 30 or 40 cents.
Thanks in advance.
The option activity, if real, does indicate pretty high confidence IMHO.

thanks olddog967. Appreciate your reporting on the board.
thanks power11. I like the speculation...nothing wrong in hoping for a white Christmas and a real shiny one at it.
I read your reporting as that the sighted staff might have come there (pub) to grab something (a drink) not necessarily to meet someone. They might have met someone in the silicon valley before the pub though

Goodpoint my3son87. I think they have other businesses that could be lagging while phone business is booming (as proven by iPhone business growth). To the best of my knowledge, they had slower growth in other businesses last quarter or the one before (I don't have references NEWS links to post here though).
-vg_future
the_trading_doctor, sorry! I missed it. Thanks. EOM.
the_trading_doctor, I could be wrong, but I think you are seeing the trades that are the settlements from the regular trading hours. My td ameritrade is showing that we are up by $1.14. So, I think we can safely ignore the ones that showed we are down by $1.04. JMHO.
-vg_future
Pre-planned sale...they failed to mention that. EOM
Two interesting things in the report
1. The year-over-year decrease in total revenue was partially offset by a $27.8 million increase in current patent royalties as a result of new patent license agreements signed in second quarter 2014.
Is this is a new one other than the Ericsson license? would be interesting.
2. Companies that accounted for ten percent or more of third quarter 2014 total revenue were Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (22 percent), Pegatron Corporation (20 percent) and Sony Corporation of America (13 percent).
If Pegatron can be 20% and then just imagine how much will be Hondai/Foxconn when it is signed.
Goodluck to all real longs! Great quarter!

Great post loophole! Best as always. Thanks. EOM.

Texastennis, I respectfully disagree with your analogy because the companies that are asking for piece meal are licensing their own patents at a whole package level. The piece meal excuse is just one more tactic that they are using to drag this out. In the case of your cable company and the ESPN service, you will be on par with them if you are providing them (the cable companies) a paid service and charge on a similar...all are none...basis. That will be true justice, but again they are providing service and they charge the way they want. In IDCC's case, IDCC is just asking for the level field and cannot be blamed for that. This type of licensing is not something IDCC has invented to cream the customers.
As a fellow long I understand the pain of this ever dragging saga and hope it comes to a successful completion soon.
Goodluck to you and all the longs!
-vg_future
P.S. Please forgive me for providing an unsolicited opinion. My intention is not hurt any one of the longs here.
my3son87, that is a very good argument that I hope IDCC will make during this trial and make these guys eat their own bull. I guess/hope IDCC counsel has lot more such gems to make this case a slam dunk.
You can't make a 3G phone with patents essential in China that makes you a monopoly, and then have a company come to the USA and say the patents are not valid, infringed or essential.
Goodluck All Longs!
vg_future
Thanks for the clarification my3sons87. Appreciate it.
-vg_future
Thanks my3sons87. Is the goal/purpose of this argument a decision or opening the case for further documents and counter arguments from NOK? Thanks in advance.
-vg_future
would love to see some of the tea leaves...thanks in advance.
-vg_future
Thanks Ghors. I am reading more tea leaves...probably this might have forced NOK to the table of discussions or their request to delay Delaware with the expert witness as the reason. Hope we find out more soon on this. Once again, thanks for the read out that you afford on this board...I, like many here, get lot of useful info from your posts.
-vg_future
Thanks Ghors. EOM
Thanks Ghors. Excellent explanation. Any thoughts on how the case is postponed....short notice with a future date that is not decided and a (telephone) conference that is cancelled (probably normal because the case is pushed out)? I understand that we are all looking for a positive spin on this, but it definitely feels like the other cases that got settled on or just before schedule start date.
TIA,
vg_future
my3sons87, as you mentioned, the timing of the order seems a bit odd when the judge just said that he will move forward with the case (though it is slated as the second one). I am trying to remember what the wording was when Lucent case was postponed before the license announcement....however, they don't have to necessarily match. I will keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best.
-vg_future
Thanks olddog967. Sorry for not being clear on the question. As per the schedule posted the other day, IDCC's case is the second one on Sep 8th, I was wondering if it was originally scheduled as the first case (if the schedule was published before the latest schedule that you posted) for Sep 8th and then got bumped to the second position after the delay requests.
Anyway, hope the pressure stays on and the parties settle prior to the hearing.....though a part of me is hoping that IDCC's case starts on Sep 8th and NOK's dirty laundry gets exposed for everyone to see. It could be a double edged sword though....so, a settlement is a win win.
Goodluck to all longs.
Thanks,
vg_future
olddog967 or my3sons87, quick question. Was IDCC's case #as per original schedule before Nokia submitted their request to postpone the case? I am trying to understand if the judge gave a little something for Nokia, but yet kept it under leash by saying that the case might still go forward.....to help put pressure on both parties for a settlement.
TIA,
vg_future
Thanks Ghors for the explanation. Were we #1 before NOK filed its petition to postpone? Just wondering if the judge yielded partially, but without letting it go completely to keep the pressure on the parties.
TIA,
vg_future
Is it possible that ITC found infringement, but twisted the DI to find no violation? I am hoping for sincere answers only.
My reading of the few lines that were posted says that they didn't touch the infringement part and they are going to modify/clarify another issue (most probably DI....hopefully not another victory for infringers). But, hoping otherwise as stated above.
I am also hoping that IDCC announces a tender offer for few million shares for around 50 bucks to show their support/faith....in place of their existing buyback program. They will be spending additional 40 million or so that could otherwise used to buy more shares in regular buyback, but it will be a good confidence booster.
TIA,
Vg_future
Fog1937, I understand...that is the reason I said that I don't want to do back seat driving or guessing. I also understand that Arima money is the issue, but the concern was the expenses that could have been flagged. Again, I am not privy to all the info...so, maybe they did what they can do and afforded what they can to the street. Sometimes it helps to be like few of the companies out there that low ball the estimates (particularly in instances like these where low balled numbers are also good NEWS) and beat the hell out of the estimates.
I don't write these kind of messages because I don't want the usual suspects/culprits on the board to jump on it and bash/thrash IDCC with their own agenda.
-vg_future
Unless the expenses were unexpected/unforeseen, failing to guide properly (atleast the expense part...arb money is out of their control anyway) is totally inexcusable. People making big bucks in the company should/would know how to manage street expectations. I don't want to do back seat driving (playing management role in my little head), but this management (or the finance guys in the mgmt team) can spoil even a wet dream...which, BTW, I thought is never possible. How can we sign a major company, earn lot of money and still get screwed when the earnings are reported.
Goodluck to all the true longs.
-vg_future
One of the Apple NEWS releases mentioned that iPhone 5C did really well in the last block buster quarter that they just announced results for. So, that should be a big plus for IDCC through Pegatron. But, someone in the market is still managing to manipulate IDCC everyday. I thought it would be up this morning. I think we have to wait for the results.
-vg_future
william_wallace, thanks for pointing it out. Just about to post the same.
IMHO. it is significant considering the fact that it is still being licensed as a part of the rest of IDCC patents. I am not sure if it is already separated or not, but when it does it might not have the discounts that are being offered as a part of the whole bucket of IDCC patents. So, more money.
-vg_future
Earnings on Aug 7th.
http://finance.yahoo.com/news/interdigital-announces-date-second-quarter-211500383.html
-vg_future
All, it is sad to see people holding IDCC to a different licensing standards when compared to QCOM.....global convenience vs US use only. It almost feels like a collusion to kill another budding QCOM. JMHO.
-vg_future
olddog967, thanks for the details. Sounds positive to me. Thanks.
-vg_future
in IDCC's favor or against. TIA.
-vg_future
Got it, thanks. I saw it in one of the rumors that iWatch has LTE capabilities to make it work away from the phone as well and hence asked. Anyway, we will find our in couple of months.
Thanks,
vg_future
Data_Rox, could you comment on the LTE capability of these smartwatches? Wouldn't that be royalty bearing?
TIA,
vg_future
Data_Rox, I understand what you are saying about iWatch, but from what I read it might have LTE capabilities.
-vg_future
Taiwan's Quanta to start mass production of Apple's IWatch....
While we wait on the ITC side show, there could be other important things happening in IDCC's world. Quanta is IDCC's licensee and I think we can expect money from here.
http://finance.yahoo.com/news/taiwans-quanta-start-mass-production-190157342.html
Goodluck All!
-vg_future
Okay, thanks. EOM.
olddgo967, clarification please...TIA.
Infringement and DI for all patents in question or Infringement reason/basis for one set and DI reason for another set of patents?
I appreciate your clarification.
-vg_future.
I think we crossed 50 during the CAFC hearing pertaining to NOK ITC case. We fell from there and then went over 50 and onwards to 80 when the "plan to sell IDCC" was announced. Ofcourse we crossed 50 first time during the 1999 peak.
So, we crossed 50 three times if I remember right.
