K, how much EPA in that $19.99 bottle you got? TIA.
Hornett,
Thanks for the detailed reply. You are one lucky dude. To quote you, best of wealth and health to you. Have a great weekend.
Hornett,
Congrats on such a good deal. May I ask what insurance you have? They cover V even though it's an off label script for you. I have Emblem Health as my insurance and thinking about switching. I paid $127 for V every month with the coupon. TIA.
K,
How much are you paying for your fish oil? TIA
K, how much your pharma-grade fish oil cost you per gram of EPA? You might have a point
Everybody is expecting generic Lovaza come 2015. Does this TEVA news move up the timeline?
Atlas,
Last Monday was Labor day, so not a full work week last week. I think OB update will be next week.
STS,
Thank you so much. I got it now.
thanks to both JL and quimper for the reply.
Does anybody know why ANCHOR ADCOM meeting will be reviewed by the Endocrinology and Metabolic Committee rather than Cardiology Committee? Will that be a positive or negative for AMRN. I guess Dr. Nissen won't be among the panel members and that's a positive. TIA.
WMJENKINS,
Vascepa could double its market if REDUCE-IT proved successful in lowering MACE, a greater than 50% probability, IMO, due to JELIS' results. It's like people ask you, "Would you like to double your money if odds is strongly in your favor?"
JL, the chance for them to contact you is quite low since they don't know you. You have to make yourself known by introducing yourself to them. I know that may not be your style but for the good of your portfolio, that may be a wise thing to do.
Chabojilo, I totally agree with you. I just hope FDA has the same common sense as you and me.
Biobill, are you saying if a drug consists of a mixture of "A+B+C+D+E+F+G" is an NCE, then a drug contains only "E" should be an NCE as well? TIA.
I think the Steve Ketchum talk during CC calm lots of nerve for shareholders. It did it for me and it's reflected in today's share price.
JL,well done. You have tons of great ideas. Please call Joe Bruno @ (908)719-1315 to schedule a conversation with Joe Z. I have spoken to Joe before and he seems very receptive to ideas. Perhaps you could be Amarin's volunteer marketing consultant.
I am very impressed with Steve Ketchum who is in charge of preparing for ADCOM. His 5-minute talk during the conference call was very clear and concise. I think we are in very good hand as far as ADCOM is concerned. Once we get ANCHOR, cash will start to flow in. 1% ANCHOR penetration is $800M/yr in sales. For cash-flow break even, all we need is about .25% ANCHOR penetration, and I am not even counting anything from MARINE.
attm, continued and expected reduced cash burn is a big positive :
"Net cash outflows from operations were $52.8 million in the second quarter of 2013 as compared to $59.6 million in the first quarter of 2013. As stated previously, Amarin anticipates its first quarter net cash outflows from operations to be its highest quarter of net cash outflows from operations during 2013. Amarin anticipates that it will experience continued reductions in quarterly net cash outflows from operations with future quarterly results below the results of the second quarter."
Assume linear decline in cash outflow, we should have $185M @ year end. With ANCHOR approval, the company should bring in much needed cash to avoid further dilution.
Zum, would BP pay a lot less for AMRN if NCE is "no"?
STS, you raise a very good question. Is taking 2g/day Vascepa for a healthy individual who just want the preventive health aspect of V a waste of money? Also, for those who can afford it, should one take 6g/day of V to improve its effectiveness?
How do you know "Enrollment in this trial has been at a rapid pace"?
TIA.
BiotechWill :
Does it mean for drugs that receive NCE designation from the FDA on PDUFA should be listed as NME by CDER? In the case of Vascepa, since FDA was unable to determine its NCE status on PDUFA, CDER listed Vascepa NME status as "no" for the time being, right? TIA.
Aum,
So your doctor is OK with AFIB and increased LDL for his/her patients? You should educate him/her a bit next time you see the good doctor.
Doc,
Do you mean your patient is unwilling to pay the $50 copay?
NEPT's krill oil has O3 fatty acid too, the stock is up 3.15% today. Is Mr. Market that stupid? Is it that difficult to sell a trig lowering drug that doesn't cause increased LDL and AFIB? Be patient my fellow investors. Shorts need to cover eventually. Worst case you have a double from current level (ala HGSI's low ball offer from GSK) if Joe Z totally mess up ANCHOR.
do diabetics want to get afib and increased LDL?
Thanks AK. Good to know and Happy July 4th!
Reduce-it requires 1612 events to call it quit. We know from Jelis the reduction is about 53% in MACE with epadel+statin compared with statin only. Apply the same ratio we get 515 events out of 4000 for the Vascepa+statin arm and 1097 events out of 4000 for the statin only arm, that's 27.4% of patients in the statin only arm that need to have an event. I just hope Amarin enrolls some sick patients.
You should be thankful to have a drug like V to help improve your health and hopefully extend your life. Instead of constantly worry about the future of Amarin, you should try your best to experiment reducing other toxic substances you've been taking. Your body is very smart. There are reason why one's face is flushing when taking Niacin or muscle ache and liver enzyme shooting up while taking Statin. Stay healthy and worry less about Amarin my friend. Goodnight.
You keep asking the same question. Let me do the hard work for you.
Amarin has 200M cash as of end of Q1. Cash burn for Q1 is 60 mil. Joe Z said cash burn will be less in subsequent Q due to reduced expenses and increased sales. Let's be conservative and say cash burn are 50 mil, 40 mil and 30 mil for Q2 thru Q4. Then we reach year end with 80 mil cash. ANCHOR will start bring in more cash by then with a partnership being the worst case scenario according to Joe Z.
If FDA decides to wait for the outcome study before approving V for ANCHOR, it will send the wrong message to the medical community. Lovaza would continue to be prescribed off-label, causing more AFIB and increased LDL for at-risk patients. Why would FDA want that to happen? Unless it's totally corrupt and in bed with BP like GSK.
AK,
What happen if Vascepa does reduce CVD. Given Jelis results, do you think V might save hundreds or thousands of life in the next three years if taken now instead of waiting for outcome trial result? What's the worst can happen? You wasted $7200 (assume no insurance coverage). It's a no brainer if one is at risk.
FDA decision makers are made up of "experts" just like Olympic judges in gymnastics and diving events.
AK,
Congrats on getting the script. I pay $127.01 (with coupon) for my Vascepa from a local mom and pop drug store. Chains like CVS tends to charge more to cover their overhead.
Coupons won't affect sales but it will reduce gross margin.
AK,
Please don't take this the wrong way, I think along the same way as JL for your situation. V is safer, better, and cheaper (with coupon) than plusEPA. You should start V as soon as it's available. Both you and your wife seems to have good medical contacts and an off label script should be far easier for you to get than my wife, mother-in-law and myself. Please don't delay anymore. You have everything to gain and nothing to lose. Good luck and health to you.
AK,
Seems like FDA is fine with letting patients taking Zetia despite a long list of side effects (potential liver damage, rhabdomyolysis, myopathy, upper respiratory tract infection, diarrhea, arthralgia, sinusitis and pain in extremity) before outcome study. Your doctor is prescribing you Z instead of V which has placebo like side effects. You should know V has a synergistic and enhanced LDL-lowering effect with Crestor. Why don't you just try V for 45 days like my mother in law instead of doing harm to your body? Don’t give in to your cardiologists so easily. It’s your health and not theirs.
Adumb Fartstain's preidctions are often more wrong than right :
1) IMS blocking Vascepa's data : WRONG
2) Vascepa delayed launch : WRONG
3) Vascepa won't get NME or NCE : WRONG
The list goes on. He would boast what he got right and mum on what he got wrong. That's the classic definition of a weasel. Unfortunately, he has a public platform to do his dirty deeds.
AK,
Given Vascepa's safety and efficacy, the only reason not to take Vascepa now for the ANCHOR and MARINE populations is cost.
Assume no insurance coverage, V cost $2400.00/yr. Instead of waiting for 3 years (may be 2 if we get lucky)for the reduce-it result, I decide to start taking V now. I'll waste $7200 if reduce-it fails (less than 50% probability given Jelis result). However, if reduce-it proves successful, my cardiovascular health will have a 3-year head start, i.e., increase my life span by at least a couple years. I have thrown away $7200 for much less worthy cause before. To me taking V now is a no brainer for me. By the way, my mother-in-law also agrees with me. Have a goodnight.
Adumb Fartstain must get its source materials from Summer Street. That talk the same way and get paid from the same clientele.
Akanz,
In case you missed my post last weekend, I am re-posting it :
"Just got my blood work results after 45 days of 4g/day Vascepa while maintaining the same dietary habits. I can't be more happy about the results :
1) trigs drops from 254 to 154 mg/dl
2) LDL drops from 111 to 79
3) HDL drops from 45 to 44 (not good)
4) VLDL drops from 51 to 31
5) hsCRP is .3 (first time testing for it)
6) glucose drops from 113 to 95
7) HDL as % of cholestrol goes up from 22% to 29%.
Other benefits of Vascepa I experience so far include the elimination of occasional abdomen pain due to fatty liver, reduced joint pain and dry eyes.
That's the best $127/month (with the coupon) I spent to improve my health. I bet my PCP is going to take notice of my results and start scripting Vascepa to her other high risk patients. Since my LDL and glucose drop so much with Vascepa, I believe doctors can prescribe Vascepa for patients with slightly elevated LDL and glucose levels and eliminate all those unpleasant side effects associated with Statins, etc.
I am so glad I discover Vascepa. Heading out to celebrate! "
Nobody care for your health more than you. Take matter in your own hands. Goof luck and health to you.
