I got a KOBO eReader for xMas and it has been no fun. Takes forever to charge the battery and then it only lasts a few hours on one charge. Also find it very cumbersome to use wifi on it.
Navigating sucks on it!
Maybe I just got a unit with an old tired battery? Thoughts? I am about to bring it back to the store.
How can you beat dividends!!? Income trust yields can also be quite tasty!
Covalon is back at its lowest but that story is far from over as it has a real product with real partners and potential.
I follow only 5 stocks now and COV is one of them.
Cheers!
Happy New Year Everybody!!
Happy New Year!
Thanks I will try that! I was about to do it but went to bed first
tried that -- thanks! In fact I thought that was prolly my best bet
Besides white pages 411 in different countries, Google, Bing and MySpace what other tool could one use to find somebody?
Thanks!
VAV looking frisky today!
thanks Mike
Ever hear of Trojan Killer? I have a feeling that they are one of these programs that give all kinds of false positives to force you to buy their program to delete the 'fleas' they found ... as I did a full Malawarebyte and MSE scan and they found nothing.
Thanks for heads-up -- sorry about the monitor.
I was trying out BitDefender but I got rid of it
I waited 20 minutes plus and it seems fine. One cool thing about this Board is that I don't panic so easily anymore when I have a computer issue as I know somebody here will have the answer or put me in the right direction to find it.
Thanks tc that is what I did after posting my plea for help.
I ended up in a Vista forum and sure enough the answer was there. I had downloaded DAT updates for BitDefender and they were probably not complete when I clicked YES to REBOOT NOW.
I decided to wait a bit longer to try and avoid the danger of having to repair Windows and sure enough it was fine after a 20 minute or so hang.
This is probably what happened .... should I wait or risk turning off and having to fix Windows because of incomplete DAT updates?
Re: Cannot shut down - hangs with "Shutting down" on screen
i have the same problem, i think it is that my computer is trying to install updates that arent fully downloaded or something because when it hangs for ages and ages all i can do is turn it off at mains or what even and one i have done that it corrupts windows and i have to then repair it through the disk
im going to just leave it and see how long it takes to turn off if it ever does, otherwise every time i shut down i will have to repair windows!
Grrr! This is probably what happened .... should I wait or risk turning off and having to fix Windows because of incomplete DAT updates?

Have a great day!!
Totally agree with you! This Board is great!!
Awesome! Thanks for reply! In Canada our merchandise is a bit more expensive because of our smaller market (less competitive) and our dollar is generally a bit weaker than US dollar.
I saw an Acer Aspire i3, 640HDD, 6GB of RAM, HDMI, comes in brown onlyat BEST BUY for $499 CDN
I hate the color and I am not sure about quality control with ACER, although I hear from techies that the newer models are better built.
Sound like a good deal??!!
To use the program Windows Easy Transfer can I use any cable with a USB connection at each end or is there a special cable?
Also does the program that has to be installed in new computer be the exact same version for the transfer to be done completely and correctly?

I am just beginning to learn it myself. Never even thought the MB was an issue but my friend who loves and breathes Linux seems to believe I will have no problems at all with transforming my Windows machine to a Linux machine.
Programs and drivers can be a challenge with Linux but I plan to narrow the scope of the Linux machine to simplify things.
TBC.
The biggest challenge is learning new interface
I was seriously considering moving on to Windows 7 just a few months ago, but I got distracted and seduced by Linux Mint 9.
So now since laptops are so cheap I am thinking of getting a new i3 or i5 processor laptop with Win7 Premium and installing Mint 9 over Vista on my old (present) laptop.
Thanks, probably better ways to deal with it but whatever works!
Thanks! I dumped IOBIT and will try Glary again.
However, I am pretty sure that the problem was the new massive VISTA update files, because after doing my restore system and all worked well, the automatic Windows updates kicked in overnight and the problem started again today, except that this time after a reboot or two all was well!!!??
Thanks for taking the time to reply!
Did a system restore and all is well ...
Did a system restore and all is well ...
IE is not working either. I checked network connections and firewalls and they do not seem to be the problem with regard to FireFox. I am thinking of doing a system restore to 24 hours ago? Is that ok?
No, but I will now ...
I was able to check network connections and firewall for FF, so now the best I can figure is restore the system to a couple of days ago before I installed Windows updates?
Any better solutions??

I have a window in Firefox that says to check my network connections or check firewall. How do I do that?
Thanks!
