GFCI booming; must have been added to OIH (Oil Service Holders Trust)... just kidding ...
Congrats to GFCI longs; we needed a lift.
Please post your website address publicly and your attorney's phone number so all may participate.
OT: not VMicrocap, but possible opportunity:
KRI has put itself up for sale, and mgt is currently reviewing bids from 2 bidders; indication is that the lead bidder is now over $65. KRI has said they will not talk about the bids til Sunday. Currently trading below at $64, KRI could pop over $65 on Monday when KRI provides details of the 2 bids they received. If both bidders stay interested, KRI could even go over $70.
Enter at your own risk, but it sounds OK to me. I am watching and hoping to buy today closer to 63.50, but may have to pay $64+ to play the game (minor arbitrage, minor risk).
JMHO
So, aside from all the personal angst being voiced among participants here, we all know that the actual share count is (probably, not indubitably, but probably) between 20million and 200million.
I think Dr. Bill was not lying, but he does voice only negative views towards GFCI. I found his post about the 200 million shares (which we now know to be "suthorized", not "outstanding") to be a clear implication that outstanding shares were at 200 million. Reviewing the site made it obvious that his implication was wrong.
Still, he did find the site which listed "authorized" shares, for which I am grateful. Any info we dig up on GFCI is of value, regardless how damning or worrisome.
Jim Dial does need to get on the horn and explain a few things to shareholders, which I think is Dr. Bill's primary point anyway.
Peace and booyah be with you all...
Gilead, as Nelson stated, we see anecdotal evidence of the larger interest by bigger guns (pros; institutions) than a year ago. I cannot say that their presence begins being felt at a particular market cap, but I can say we've had fewer microcaps that this board could find early and follow on the way up. Afterall, the focus of the board has shifted to energy stocks (particularly Canadian Jrs.) and non-US stocks (particularly Chinese), and I don't think the focus would have moved if the underappreciated (lowPE, highGrowth) US-based microcaps were still plentiful.
Cleverrox, please keep us updated on your plans to visit Jimbo at GFCI.
Interesting article, Roguedolphin. Thanks!
Hi Gilead, I believe that the increased efficiency in the microcap market is the direct result of MORE pros in the market. It's not just us fly-by-niters anymore, so it's much harder for people on this board to find the fast-growing value microcaps early (as was the case a year or so ago).
There may be more followers of the IBD "hot performer" lists as well, adding momo players to the mix when a microcap has begun a strong move, particularly when making a strong move and closing the week above $15.
Good info, thank you, Best2Listen!
Wade, I share your frustration with this week.
I've been getting the feeling lately that there are more "pros" investing in the microcap arena now than there were a year ago. Every once in awhile I see mention of a money management group doing more in smallcaps and occasionally microcaps. In fact I'd be willing to bet that there are also quite a few hedge funds with investments in many of the same value microcaps that are mentioned here. Also the volume indicates that there are many more players in the small energy companies as well (TGA, EGY, TGE, TIII, etc.).
Anyway, GOOD LUCK for Friday (and beyond).
Regards,
'peeker
Bull from Dr. Bill. The 200million "authorized" shares is not the same as "issued" shares, and YOU KNOW IT. Like BBB says, your spreading misinformation is not appreciated. You have spent your 5 mins here today, so please go kill some onions or something.
TSTA: Anyone have an idea how much more TSTA stock the insider estate has to sell? That consistent selling is warding off all prospective buyers.
TGA earns .07 with a very detailed earnings report... good read on operations status along with the #s.
TTES is too thin; on average it trades less than 10K shares daily. Today, even after good earnings, it only trades 13,000. Too strange to mess with.
I guess the same could almost be said about ASPN (my dog of the day).
ZNCM has been taken down to 2.10 this afternoon. Dunno why. PE about 15; revs about 3x mktcap. Just another victim in a down market, or does anyone have a hint why ZNCM continues to slide? Help will be appreciated.
TVIN news should provide a lift as orders have supposedly been waiting for this (delayed) milestone.

TVIN gets NIOSH Approval for Next Generation Powered Air Respirator System
By BusinessWire
Last Update: 3/8/2006 8:30:04 AM Data provided by
GLENN DALE, Md., Mar 08, 2006 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- PureAir Bio-Response Kit is Company's First PAPR Product Entry Into the First Receiver and Hospital Markets
TVI Corporation (TVIN), a global supplier of rapidly deployable first responder systems for homeland security, hospitals, the military, police and fire departments, and public health agencies, today announced it has received National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) approval for its PureAir Bio-Response Kit(TM). The PureAir Bio-Response Kit is a powered air purifying respirator (PAPR) designed by TVI's SafetyTech(TM) subsidiary.
"NIOSH approval of the PureAir system is a substantial achievement for TVI as it affords us an opportunity to target the hospital, healthcare and EMS markets," stated Richard V. Priddy, President and Chief Executive Officer of TVI Corporation. "All of our previous generation PAPRs had been designed for military applications. The hospital, healthcare and EMS markets are very large and growing markets that currently are vastly underserved.
"NIOSH understood the need for this type of product in the marketplace, and worked closely with our SafetyTech personnel to gain rapid approval," said Priddy. "This cooperative effort is reflective of SafetyTech's proven track record with NIOSH for approvals and the excellent relationship that they maintain.
"We have begun to aggressively market the PureAir Bio-Response Kit to the healthcare community," continued Priddy. "The system ensures the protection of hospital, laboratory and clean room staff against biological contaminants. We anticipate that this product line will be a strong contributor to revenues in late 2006."
Bond interest rates up again? Seems that the Bank of Japan's raising rates is causing ripple effects here in good ol' USA. Typically, when bond interest rates go up, we see downward pressure on stock prices in general. For over a year now, we've been hearing that the Fed is "almost through raising rates", but they just keep on keepin' on.
The stock market has quitely been taking a beating the last couple of days, and a defensive posture would be to raise cash (sell some stocks).
Energy stocks also appear to be heading a little lower (they bottomed in May last year). Even the Canadian Juniors have been suffering the last week or so (at least the ones I own: SHY.v and CZE.v).
Good luck today!
JMHO...
OT: Jim Cramer - Larry Kudlow = Dan Dorfman + crack
;>)
Appears to me that there will continue to be sellers of Oil and Gas stocks into May (where oil stocks seem to have bottomed last year). Tragedy is that natural gas price drops will reduce impetus for alternative energy. Since we didn't have the cold winter Bobwins was praying for, we must now hope for a hot summer to drive natural gas prices up (as natgas is used for power generation).
Unfortunately CFK may suffer further as energy companies are not quite as ambitious in their drilling plans now as 2 months ago.
Oil services like CFK are not faring well today, but CFK is being hit particularly hard. They must be providing services to natgas drillers vs oil.
14:14 OIH Oil Service HOLDRS Trust moves to fresh lows, nears last week's reaction low at 133.56 (133.75 -3.26) -Update- -Technical-
Next level of note is the Feb lows near 132.00.
AEY news this afternoon offers optimism on future business and informs that all motions were passed at annual meeting. Not much to write home about really, but no bad news either.
Wade, I added CFK at $11.80 and I'm hoping natgas begins the rebound to keep a floor under CFK.
Natgas drops CFK: Wade, you were right on target with your intuition this AM regarding ngas down and impact on CFK. I wish I'd had sense to sell my CFK this morning. I could have bought back cheaper in a few days. The drop in natgas also kicked my in my ASPN. However, at this level (both down around 5% today) I'm inclined to hold my CFK and ASPN for now.
Question for TGA experts! Is TGA able to sell its natgas in Yemen? I read today's release, which mentions oil and gas production rates. I thought there was a problem selling nat gas there in past. I realize they don't get US prices for nat gas, but if they get something, it's money in the bank.

Picked up some SCRG today... went the other way on me, but there's always Monday.
oops SDRG instead of SCRG... my bad
Anyone own SCRG.ob ??? It's moving back up to .80 after sliding down to .74 today. I bought some on briefing.com comments about this under the radar silver mining operation. It has mining ops in China among others.

So many posts with so few shares at stake; if time is money, you will never be able to rationalize your wasted time on this board. Aspen Exploration Announces 15 Well Drilling Program
Wednesday March 1, 11:52 am ET
DENVER, CO--(MARKET WIRE)--Mar 1, 2006 -- Aspen Exploration Corporation (OTC BB:ASPN.OB - News), an energy company with offices in Bakersfield, California, and Denver, Colorado, announced today details on its 2006 drilling program. The Company plans to drill approximately 15 wells this year in the Sacramento Valley gas province of northern California and 1 oil well in Kern County, California. Aspen drilled ten successful gas wells out of ten attempts in 2004 for a 100% success rate, and nine gas wells out of ten attempts in 2005. During the last 5 years, Aspen has participated in the drilling of 35 operated wells, 31 of which were completed as gas wells, and 4 dry holes which were plugged and abandoned, a success rate of 89%.
We anticipate that five of these new wells will be in the West Grimes Gas Field, Colusa County, California. The wells in this field produce from multiple Forbes intervals ranging in depth from 6,000 feet to 8,500 feet and have produced over 80 BCF of gas to date since it was discovered in 1960. Numerous wells in this immediate area have produced at very prolific flow rates (4,000 MCFPD), have yielded excellent per well reserves (3 to 4 BCF per well), and have long productive well lives. Several of the 10 producing wells that Aspen acquired in this field three years ago have been producing for 40 years. Aspen believes that several of these wells may have additional gas potential in behind-pipe zones, which have not yet been perforated. Aspen drilled 8 gas wells out of 8 attempts in this field during the past two years. These wells were drilled based on a 10.5 square mile 3-D seismic survey over Aspen's 5,000 plus leased acres in this field. Several additional excellent drilling prospects have been identified. Aspen has already participated in two non-operated successful gas wells drilled in this field in 2006. Aspen has a 21% operated working interest in this field.
We plan that two of the wells to be drilled will be located in the Malton Black Butte Field, Tehama County, California. Aspen currently operates 8 wells in this field. The depths of the productive formations range from 1,800 feet to 6,000 feet. Several of Aspen's wells have been producing for over 30 years and have produced excellent gas reserves at these shallow depths. Aspen's new wells will be drilled to 5,000 feet in an effort to discover new reserves from the Forbes and Kione formations. This field has produced 140 BCF of gas to date. Aspen has a 21% to 31% operated working interest in this field. Aspen has already participated in two successful wells drilled in this field in 2006. One of these wells operated by Aspen is currently selling gas and the other non-operated well tested gas at nearly 1,000 MCFPD and is awaiting a pipeline hook-up.
Aspen's other 7 wells are expected to be located in the Rice Creek (4), Denverton Creek (2), and various (1) other gas fields. Aspen also intends to drill a deep, high potential oil well in Kern County which, if successful, could lead to multiple additional drilling locations. Although the majority of these wells will be conventionally drilled, a few of them will be drilled horizontally. The actual timing and drilling of these wells will be contingent on permits and drilling rig availability.
In other news, in an 8-K filed on February, 22, 2006, Aspen announced a change in auditors. To clarify the reason for the change, Aspen had recently moved its accounting functions from Denver, CO to Bakersfield, CA. Aspen felt it was prudent to have its independent audit firm in close proximity to Bakersfield. The new audit firm is larger than Aspen's prior firm and has offices in Bakersfield and Denver, in additional to other locations. Aspen's prior audit firm will still prepare Aspen's income taxes.
Gilead, re: TSTA
I thought backlog was pretty strong at $10million. Earnings PR said it was a record. What "reduction" did you see? I can look it up, but if you know, please elucidate.
Thanks for bringing insider sales to my A-tension!

TSTA corrected yesterday down to 1.11 and is up slightly today. Volume has not been strong, but it was above avg yesterday on a down day. If you know of any news or rumor to explain the bearish move down, please share.
VPHM: Berliet, thanks for the correction on GENZ competition
Zweig on CNBC saying oil service stocks are his fund's biggest position. I bet he owns some CFK and UNT and MCX, among others.
VPHM: As C1001 alluded to earlier, some old news from GENZ may be why VPHM mgt is so cautious for '06. Nonantibiotic Tolevamer treatment compares well vs. Vancomycin and may be prescribed vs. Vancomycin in late '06.
Oct. 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Genzyme Corporation
(Nasdaq: GENZ) today announced positive results from a preliminary analysis of
data from the Phase 2 clinical trial of tolevamer sodium, an investigational
polymer therapy for patients with Clostridium difficile associated diarrhea
(CDAD). Final data will be presented at a medical conference next spring.
The Phase 2 trial enrolled 289 patients at 58 sites in the United States,
Canada and the United Kingdom in a randomized, double blind, active-controlled
study designed to determine the safety and effectiveness of tolevamer sodium
capsules at two dose levels (6 grams and 3 grams), versus the standard
prescribed oral dose of the antibiotic vancomycin.
Tolevamer is being developed as a novel, non-absorbed therapy that could
be the first non-antibiotic treatment for this serious disease. It may offer
the potential to reduce antibiotic use in an era when there is increasing
concern regarding overuse of antibiotics, in particular vancomycin, and
concern regarding the persistent emergence of antibiotic resistance. The U.S.
Food and Drug Administration has designated tolevamer for the treatment of
CDAD as a fast-track product.
Patients in the study were evaluated to assess tolevamer's ability to meet
one primary endpoint: non-inferiority to vancomycin with respect to time to
resolution of diarrhea. Non-inferiority is a common measure used to compare
new anti-infectives to current therapies.
Preliminary data show tolevamer met this endpoint at the 6 gram dose level
and was found to be similar to vancomycin in median days to resolution of
diarrhea (2 days for vancomycin patients and 2.5 days for patients with the 6
gram dose of tolevamer) and demonstrated a risk ratio relative to vancomycin
of 0.98 (95% CI: 0.68 -1.41).
Tolevamer works by binding to toxins that cause CDAD. Tolevamer, like two
other polymer therapies developed by Genzyme, Renagel(R) (sevelamer
hydrochloride) and WelChol(R) (colesevelam hydrochloride), acts in the
gastrointestinal tract to bind and remove unwanted substances.
"We are pleased with this positive data and in meeting the primary
endpoint established for this study," said Ted Sybertz, Ph.D., senior vice
president and general manager of Genzyme Drug Discovery and Development.
"Tolevamer is now ready to enter into Phase 3, and we plan to work with
interested partners to expedite its development and commercialization. In
addition, we are developing a liquid formulation to increase patient
convenience."
Data from the trial also show similar frequency of recurrence of diarrhea
after initial successful resolution of symptoms. Twenty-two (22) percent of
patients taking vancomycin experienced recurrence of CDAD, while nineteen (19)
percent of patients taking 6 grams of tolevamer recurred.
The study evaluated patients with mild to moderate disease, the most
common presentation of CDAD. The study included patients experiencing a first
episode of CDAD, as well as those with recurrent disease. The overall safety
profile and frequency of adverse events in the clinical trial were similar
between tolevamer and vancomycin.
