The stock must trade 20:1 on the OTC, so the dollar value will always be balanced. They do get slightly off sometimes, but not much. If it is just as easy for you to buy on the ASX the better volume will make it easier for you to enter and exit your position in the short term. But if extra fees come into play then I don't think it's worth it.
I wouldn't be afraid of buying the AVMXY shares. The U.S. is where Biotech companies make it big and I think Avita is more interested in being something on the U.S. stock exchange. They have offices here now and they moved their Re-Cell manufacturing to the U.S. as well. They created the AVMXY shares solely to become more attractive to institutional investors.
Originally this stock traded on the same penny stock metric that the ASX did, but under the symbol AVMXF. They did away with that and BNY Mellon converted all the shares held for free over to AVMXY. This stock is valued on the low side of a pre-revenue company. And it actually has consistent revenue from it's respiratory products. The cash burn rate is pretty high right now but that is necessary. They have about 10 million in reserves and no debt, which is great.
I'm with you on thinking that we'll have some significant news during the next 30-45 days. Not just because of the CC but due to Glasgow going part time for this mystery company's more suitable CTO. I like the idea of mixing it up with a profitable private company that probably pays 1/3 of the salaries that Lightwave does for staff that in some cases is both more efficient and capable.
I hope that by the end of February we will have a more clear picture of the future. However, if we are scratching our heads wondering what's going on or what happened then I think we need to begin to exercise our power as shareholders more effectively. Working as a collective whole, rather than a group who we can categorize from most to least angry, we'll need to begin directing our questions and concerns to the Board members instead of Tom. We have the advantage of having a large base of very intelligent local shareholders that could easily meet outside this message board and have a healthy discussion about what to do.
I didn't catch that. I was 13 when the Enron thing happened so it doesn't stand out to me.
Here's a more current list. http://money.cnn.com/magazines/fortune/fortune500/2012/full_list/
Stephen has a friendly email about Lightwave from me. I didn't give him a sales pitch, just the fundamentals and links with more info. I mentioned the strong interest from the Fortune 100 microelectronics company and some of our notable members. I also included Tom's email address if he wished to contact someone at the company. I did ask him to let me know if Lightwave is the kind of company that Cisco Technology Radar was designed to find.
Tonight was the first time I saw that on the Lightwave page they list that the LSS is a Fortune 100 company. Well that REALLY narrows it down. http://www.wageproject.org/files/fortune_company.php
Beat me to it. I was going to say Buzz is hopefully emailing Steve about Stephan. If he was out he'd say au revoir. One of things I learned e-hunting is that Steve Cordovano speaks French. He should be the one to contact Stephan.
Cisco could be a match made in heaven for Lightwave.
Did anyone here make a comment? I'm surprised there were only 25. I thought it would be more like 250.
I'm glad it worked. I bet this board gets some activity in the next 3-4 months. If you have any questions about my older posts you can ask here or email me if you'd like. inversor86@yahoo.com
I do it for two reasons. One because it's a great way for me to keep track of all the info I find. The other reason is I knew one day someone would check and see if this company has a message board. If they saw nothing than they would probably move on but if they saw someone posting repeatedly for seemly no audience they might read through it and take an interest.
Hey there. I started the board back in June but I've been a shareholder for almost a year. There is a lot of quality info in my older posts and it is all still relevant. This stock is off of everyone's radar but it has a great deal of potential. It will have to trend up before the FDA results come in. Even if you got in now and sold before the trial results you would still make a nice gain without a real risk.
Agreed, very odd trading. Maybe the CEO bought more shares yesterday and gave us an artificial run :)
A strange day of trading for sure. The big bid and ask stiffed the MM from moving us around today.
I feel like Tom's responses via email always leave something to be desired. Ask him if they're still working on the thickness and when Mickelson's contract is up.
Doing the same job with less is always better. It would save money in materials and raise more eyebrows in the science community. So Tom was mad, oh well. Hopefully Mickelson didn't have to listen to an earful.
¯\_(")_/¯
Tough to say, maybe send Mickelson an email?
It worked, I didn't see anything about Lightwave. I feel like I'm missing something, do we have a tie with Acacia?
Whatever it is I don't see it.
This is my understanding. The SLM would be a much more advanced version of what is used in a overhead projector to display what would normally show up on a computer screen. The optical switches house the photonic crystals are used to direct light through a sharp turn on a computer chip.
That is a huge unmet market. I did some project management for a large commercial contractor. As it was it seemed the person who could yell the loudest dictated what and was not a delay.
Better late than never. I'm hoping to hit $20 after earnings are reported. A good bit of the new sales staff should have hit full stride in Q4.
They do let laggard companies present at that conference. I know because Sequenom sent me an email this morning that they'll be there.
Seeking Alpha: 5 Undervalued Internet Stocks.

I was happy to see Vocus placed in there, they're often overlooked.
Interesting use for Niobium.
My girlfriend does social media and PR for a pretty successful jewelry designer that has been in business for decades. I had a conversation with the owner about jewelry made out of niobium. I was not aware niobium was commonly used for certain jewelry until I came across all the #niobium tags on Instagram recently. http://statigr.am/tag/niobium
Anyway, the owner was telling me how Niobium use in her field is getting really popular. The reason being Niobium is one of very few completely hypoallergenic materials. And we all know it's very strong, another plus for that industry. It first caught on for use where piercings are constantly filled. While everyone knows that cheap jewelry is never hypoallergenic most don't know that platinum, gold and sterling silver are not. Gold is alloyed with a metal for strength and tarnish reduction making it non-hypo. Sterling silver is blended with copper, also non-hypo. Platinum has iridium in it making it again non-hypo. Nickel is also used but causes problems for people.
She said it's filtering into use for more standard pieces like rings and bracelets and is expected to get more and more common.
I doubt we'll see Quantum partnering up with a jewelry company anytime soon but it's good to see that the large jewelry market will be adding to the world wide demand of Niobium.
I'd like to think the PR will bring shore up confidence enough to hold up any fearful selling. I'm hoping to say above .90 cents before the next PR or the conference call.
In my defense half of it was from responding to your backpedaling.
To say this isn't the place for insults or posting only negative comments is a different point altogether and one that I wholeheartedly would agree with. However to write off an angry shareholder as basher who has infiltrated the board is also counterproductive. Feel no need to reply. I do not wish to clog the board with this.
You mean the poster that insinuated that he was Ponzi from YMB? Yes. Are you criticizing someone for returning an insult with an insult?
Regarding PropJoe you are incorrect. He was at the shareholders meeting, infact he asked a good question about the absence of insider buying. He got what I consider a weak reply from Tom.
Greendolphin11 I have a question for you about when it was Psi-Tec. Could you send me an email? inversor86@yahoo.com
Nice comment from a doctor on a SA article.
The article isn't what most here want to read but I read all the comments and this on was the best. http://seekingalpha.com/article/1088281-why-arena-pharmaceuticals-will-underperform-in-2013?source=email_rt_article_readmore&ifp=0
Personally I like the length of time it's taking to go from FDA approval to market. It gives time for awareness to spread. I noticed in the comments multiple doctors posting and some providing their names/locations for verification. Hopefully they buy some shares, that will surely motivate them to write scripts and tell colleagues.
Here's the comment

From Doctor Steven Vig:
You said that the launch will target specialists but not general practitioners. That is not true. I called my Eisai drug rep (Tom) today (12 31 2013) who indicated that he will be mainly targeting primary care doctors, including family practice and internal medicine doctors. In his territory, the primary care doctors will be about 90% of his targeted doctors. He will be seeing several endocrine doctors , and some other specialists, but the majority of his targeted doctors are primary care.
On one typical day in my clinic, I carefully looked at each of the 20 patients that I saw that day, and found that 9/20 (45%) were potential candidates for Belviq, based on the BMI and comorbidities like diabetes, high blood pressure, and high lipids. This included overweight and obese patients and type two diabetics. I have many patients who are already waiting for the launch of Belviq, which I would anticipate around March of 2013.
I think that Belviq will be a blockbuster drug.

Stark, I thought we'd be popping champagne corks before New Years Eve. But things are on track.
The news was well received by the market. New Years Eve is not a appropriate day to release a PR with the market being so inactive. But it will help curb the pop and drop.
This is actually good. I see the fruits of our "whining" in there. Conference call?
Positives that I see. Mickelson got the thin film coatings right, that is a major accomplishment. Sounds like a deal is still on and the other company has a more worthy CTO than Louis Glassgow. Moving Louis to part time may be the first cost savings effort ever made by Lightwave. Leonberger increases his presence, I'm sure if he saw things going south he would take the opportunity to distance himself. There's still characterization to do but it sounds like we're pretty far along.
They have cash to make it through 3rd Q? I guess they didn't continue to tap LPC while the share price was up?
Zelibor's security clearance issue is legitimate. Without a contract he could not keep them. I have no doubt he'll get them back. It wouldn't be an issue if we weren't really close to a contract. It might be a good way to push the other company to sign one, so they (the customer) can communicate.
The volume is too light, the way things go here we'd get a much stronger indication of good or bad. Bad news would probably have us in the .60cent range. For about a month we had some unusual support in the share price with low volume. There were some huge bids right above $1. That all vanished around December 13th and the drift down began, also with low volume. I don't usually blame tax selling on selling pressure but I imagine a lot of unfortunate people bought this above $2 and are taking the loss now.
Buying under a $1 has consistently proved to be a good trade.
Hey guys, for the past couple months I've been trying my luck on the Nebraska Craigslist to see if anyone in Elk Creek would talk to me. I wasn't having much luck but I finally found one very friendly person who doesn't live there anymore but still has family in Elk Creek. They're pretty eager to help me out. They gave me a great suggestion for a person to contact and promised to put some feelers out and see if any business people or outsiders have been in the area checking things out.
Looks like good volume on the Canadian exchange today. 133,000 shares and counting. Just from a traders perspective buying now would be a good move. It's at an all time low and breaking below the .10 area is difficult for a penny stock so that provides a cushion. Like Walter said we usually hit a low at this point in time and then run up over a few month period.
Good to know, thank you Centurycon
I haven't doubted the science. If you do then I have no idea why you own shares in the first place. No LSS would be involved for this long without reason. While the qualifications of Bapu and Greenlee aren't 100% clear I think Dave Eaton's are not debatable.
This is not directed at you six. Something that is consistently overlooked here is that no company would want something that can not be produced consistently. It's barely been 2 months since one of the three hit that goal. So to at this point in time have still expected contracts long ago isn't logical.
The fact that contracts were inferred by mgmt is a whole other story. That is what caught me off guard at the share holders meeting. I had no idea they weren't able to make Perk/NR/Indigo consistently. This is the core of my issue with the company. Why would they suggest contracts were likely if the products weren't at a level that is commercially acceptable? Could they really not have known that was the case? I suppose it's possible since the materials are totally unique. I feel like that wasn't explained. I assumed those "intriguing" results didn't match up and brought plans to a grinding halt. This prompted additional hires and the building of a lab and testing facility to correct the problem.
Currently they're possibly merging/acquiring a revenue producing company. That will be a decent fall back for us should Lightwave ultimately fail to achieve any of it's goals. It would basically be a way for the other company to go public.
I don't want anyone to think I don't believe in this. But there are some things I don't like and the only good time to address them is during silent periods. I will not stick my head in the sand, this isn't Happy Valley.
I think someone works the front desk at the office building Lightwave rents space in. I would imagine they handle the mail. I could deliver the letter(s) in person to help make sure they get where they're supposed to go.
My true hope is that all this worrying turns out to be a huge waste of our time.
Also, Six, from what I overhead in the chatter after the SHM Bapu is the real deal. He's highly skilled and well respected. I don't think there is any reason to worry about him or Greenlee.
27 Science Fictions That Became Science Fact in 2012
Pretty cool that Avita is #6. http://www.buzzfeed.com/donnad/27-science-fictions-that-became-science-facts-in-2
2013 should be an exciting year for Avita.
This is merely the byproduct of uncertainty created by the absence of communication. I think most were expecting or hoping to hear something before the end of the year. Even if there has been no progress or a setback (which I doubt is the case) I'd still like to be informed about it. Not knowing is always worse than knowing. We all don't have an infinite amount patience. I posted this article before but I'd be much happier if the company created an environment for us similar to what is suggested by the author. http://dealbook.nytimes.com/2012/10/04/keeping-the-lines-of-communication-open/?emc=eta1
