Anyone seen the new APPLE TV television commercials in your area? Just curious. I keep trying to wrap my brain around the potential applications of VLNT patented hardware to the internet and cell phone tv/video market. The VLNT patent that I have read about the most involves a twisted copper wire (analog?)contraption that facilitates fast, efficient two-way video streaming. I am no tech expert so any info about this would be helpful.
What is the ticker change all about? Is it a bad thing that the ticker changed, or perhaps a necessary step in investigating the naked short situation?
This thing spiked and then fell asleep for months. Some substantial upward movement on little volume in the past couple of days. I still no nothing about this company. Does anybody anywhere know anything about this stock?
Now trying to fill at .0012, but still no dice. Not willing to buy in at .002 at this point. What is the deal?
Well, now what? I want more shares but if I can't fill at .001 or even .0012, then I don't know. Oh hell with it! I want more cheap shares!
I'm trying to fill at .001 but no dice yet.
Hmmm, trademark infringement, interesting. One of us should look into that. Perhaps by putting the LAN in all caps, the French VideoLAN avoids an infringement on Videolan Technologies Inc., which appears to have been established first. Just a thought. I must say, that from the first time I started looking into VLNT, I thought it odd that there was this ubiquitous VLC player from VideoLAN and an apparent plethora of patents from VLNT. I have wondered if there isn't some type of infringement possibility here.
If this helps any: I usually see OUR VLNT as : Videolan Technologies Inc., whereas the other, open-source software developed in France is referred to as VideoLAN, notice the all caps on LAN.There appears to be NO apparent relation to the two entities and they just share a cool name to describe elements related to a Video Local Area Network. I think we had all better be sure to differentiate between the two lest we go chasing red herrings!
Thanks!
Oh my! That car is totally crushed! How scary for you and your family! I hope everything works out okay for your wife, god bless.
I'm no tech genius so I don't fully understand the function of this technology. However, could it be possible that large companies (i.e Goldman Sach's, Apple, Limelight) could be interested in this because of the multi-functionality? It seems that Apple might also be trying to break into Video-games, where a fast economical LAN connection is key. Also iTV might be developing to incorporate interface with , multiple home computers, home-users' dvd, tivo, and even google video. Perhaps VLNT's patent fit in here somewhere? Go to http://www.macrumors.com/2006/11/29/itv-to-go-beyond-streaming/
To read some of the rumors and ideas I am referring to.
One problem that I have with the VLNT and iTV connection is that iTV is going to be wi-fi apparently. VLNT seems more equipped to run an intra-office video network, perhaps in something related to stocktrading for example(?). Here is the abstract of the patent I am referring to from the U.S. Patent Office Website:
A local area network for the simultaneous, bi-directional transmission of video bandwidth signals includes an economical switching matrix. The switching matrix defines upstream connections, downstream connections, and user connections and a plurality of switching points in order to provide bi-directional switching capability between every user and every upstream connection, between every user and every downstream connection, and between every user and every other user connected to the matrix, while using fewer than half of the usual N.times.N number of switching points, where N equals the number of user connections plus the number of upstream connections plus the number of downstream connections.[i/]
Looks like a good time to buy more VLNT! Reading some rumor boards about Apple iTV today, there seems to be some hope that iTV will have some patented VLNT technology being utilized. I don't know what I think about that. Although, reading over one of VLNT's patents, it would seem that they are sitting on some very pertinent tech. If you haven't had a chance go read about VLNT's patents. Then ask yourself: is it possible that these patents relate directly to emerging technology? Interesting question methinks. Godbless you and yours hdogtx.
Thanks HDOG!
Why NO volume today? 100k shares???? Geez, it's kinda weird don't you think?? What are your thoughts on that. Anyone? I know one response to that might be that G/S has stopped buying because they have the shares they need. But, is there something else going on?
I am so close to buying MORE VLNT that it is making my "mouse finger" twitch!! However, I still have a few concerns. Assuming that VLNT's patented technologies are as sought after as we are all hoping, I wonder about the various ways in which the process of obtaining these patents will effect VLNT's shareholders. A reverse merger? A buyout? Sale of Patents? With VLNT being a shell(?) who do the patents belong to? And what is to stop the rightful owner of patented technology from selling patents outright without the involvement of VLNT shareholders? I admit to knowing very little about these types of processes but common sense tells me to be cautious because of the fact that it is possible that all of the research done here is accurate, and VLNT has a goldmine of PAT/TECH and that this, being the true value of the stock, can change hands without benefiting us anything.
Hdogtx, you have been all over the DD and your work is a big part of the reason I am holding VLNT. I want to be sure that we are all aware of the difference between VLNT and VideoLan. It is starting to look like there may be some association between the two but until that connection can be made, or even assumed with some degree of assurance, it scares me to chase after ideas of big money via Apple etc. This avenue of research is becoming more apparent in its importance to getting to the bottom of the story. Thank you for all of the info you have shared so far.
Thanks VPbanker, that is what I thought based upon the internet research I have done. However, the patents associated with our VLNT seem to have some value related to current I.T. trends (i.e. Video TV, Video Conferencing, Internet telephone etc) I'm certainly no expert on ANY of this but some piece of patented VLNT hardware or software could become utilized by someone provided that the patented hardware/software is viable. I suppose that it would need to be capable of highspeed performance and compact utility. Knowing more about the actual functionality of the patented material would shed a lot of light. With the evolution that has taken place in the past 10 years alone in the computer world, I wonder why this patented material has not ALREADY gotten more use or attention, if it is good technology.
I.T. pro needed!

Okay, here is a link to the U.S. Patent Office website where I found this Videolan Technologies Inc. patent. Just type videolan in the query box. I think this has been posted here before so if you have seen this then disregard. However, although the patent information is long and has some technical jargon that most, including myself, will not fully understand, what I glean from it is that, the patented device is multi-functional, inexpensive and fairly basic. Without having looked at the patent with my own eyes I would still remain a bit skeptical about the Apple connection. The idea that Apple (or anyone else for that matter) has inadvertently used the patented technology is plausible I think. Hmmm...
My next question is if VLT and VLNT are not related then which of these is working with Apple? Apple TV is going to be HUGE IMO and any players involved will be successful. But, is VLNT one of those? Also, it would seem strange that GS would be trying to acquire patents that would be related to a technology that is in its final stages before release. Am I making any sense at all? I can see how GS might want VLNT for the shell or the patents but it would seem a little late to have anything to do with Apple TV or whatever they are calling it. Just my thoughts.
http://www.videolan.org/ The website explaining VLC player and its origins. Related to VLNT or not?
Hey everyone, a bunch of nice research, or DD as it were, being done here. One thing I would like to find some clarification on is VideoLan vs. Videolan Technologies inc. Are they the same thing? I did a google search (one of many) for Videolan and found that VideoLan is an open-source application created in Europe by college students, and it is an ongoing project. It plays several different file types and has built in codecs for the player etc. VideoLan (VLT?) would not seem to be under patent from VLNT, Videolan Technologies inc. I'm sorry I don't have a link to the information but I would be glad to find it and post it if anyone is interested. I guess my main concern here is that if VLT and VLNT are not correlated in any way, that this is made clear to all of us who are watching and waiting for VLNT to move! Thank you.
I think everyone is holding their breath. I know I am! Just watching, not so patiently, to see what happens here. Perhaps the "accumulation" by GS is complete, hence the lack of volume. Or maybe people are still skittish from last weeks market "crash" and all the hype and press it received. Either way, I can't seem to stop myself from buying more at these prices!
One question I have for you all is what would a buyout of VLNT do to the pps as opposed to a merger? Years ago I had some shares of MPPP which was bought out by Virgin, I believe. This locked in a pps that I believe would have rolled way higher on it's own. I am curious to know what would happen to my shares if say, LimeLight, were to buyout the company. I am a rookie investor so if my question is foolish, just disregard it please! Thank you very much everyone!
Hey all, new to the board here, been reading your posts for awhile now and watching this all unfold. Just picked up another 50k! Now I have 200K total, oh baby I can't wait for this thing to keep rollin'!
