Juststocks,
You are too funny! I also "enjoy" watching the mm's and chalk this up to on the job training as I am a virgin r/s to amex'er myself.
As I have posted before, I consider learning as much about how the mm's "manage" a stock an important information gathering part of the larger decision in evaluating TA entry/exit. At least here in otc land.
OT: I am also interested in your findings about the Health Savings Account plans or other related information anyone comes up with and will share my info also. I have just started checking into it.
"All this talk of 68 cameros brings back some sweat memories. "
My 68 mustang had what I call 260 air conditioning. 2 windows down and 60mph! I sure did love to start that engine though! Those 289 horses and a little tap on the gas when I would turn the key....
Some thoughts and questions swirling in my caffeine deprived (trying to quit sodas--maybe I will try beer) head:
What is in the mm's best interest? Push it down gradually over the next few days getting all those uncertain shares cheap and then let it run up on tues/wed and unload?
How do their "short" positions factor in? Do they even have to cover or just let them go as unresolved trades?
If they have to cover a certain amount of them, in addition to what they are accumulating at lower sp's currently, could we see a pop the last day or two before the split and AMEX listing?
Will the split adjusted shares trade on the otc before we move or on the day we begin AMEX listing?
trosh,
Halfway through my first scan of u companies and quick notes, I have a short list of some u stocks. I have not grouped them into explorer or producer phase companies yet but plan on trading with a somewhat similar strategy as you by being exposed to both.
Some that were on your info list I will be checking into further: EMC,IUC,CXX,DEN
some that I did not see and would like your opinion if you are familiar with: FDC,IRK
I believe they are all on CAN exchange which is my focus so far for various reasons.
OT: GTEL
You and I are in the same boat. I kept accumulating on the dips while it headed up but those dips are still higher than the current share price. I would say that I have half of my position in GTEL as a long investment and the other half I try to swing/day trade with. I have been waiting for the AMEX news and it finally came. Just thought that if we were going to do a r/s maybe we should have just moved on to the NASDAQ but I'm no expert on which exchange would be best for the company. It has definitely been a wild ride and I don't think we are through yet!
trosh,
I have been doing my dd on uranium companies mostly from this website:
http://www.antenna.nl/wise/uranium/ucomp.html
Do you know of any others?
I noticed from your recent postings that you have consolidated into mostly CCJ because you are moving from junior explorers into producers. As I have just started my research I am hesistant to give opinions but here goes one---Isn't CCJ the best of both worlds? Without any specific sources other than my bad memory I thought that CCJ had huge significant proven reserves claims in addition to the largest producing mines both in the best areas of the Ath. Basin. While the share price is out of my range here in penny land it could still be considered cheap given their position as a leader in the industry and the first stock that will get attention from the u price increase. Just look at the volume increase since the beginning of the year. I think you have made a great short term decision. I am still trying to formulate my strategy.
I think your "how do we make money off this" idea of compiling information into categories would be very helpful to all.
Hello all. Just found this forum today. Will watch the postings and hopefully be able to contribute to your board. I have been following gold (mostly can. juniors) for about 3 months and recently got turned on to uranium.
Been doing research on the topic and just started looking into dd on companies involved with it. I am very excited to have found the board to share info and ideas with. I will be reading the previous posts so as not to offer/ask about anything already covered.
Have an account with IB so I am able to trade the canadian equities but have not yet. Still trying to do a thorough overall assessment of the players and then will move on to some TA and fund. analysis of the stocks. I did open a small position in URIX just to play until I have a better idea where to head. Looking forward to discussions/opinions!
greg,
Rocky won't be at the board until 12:00 if you read his post. If you look at the news releases by other companies that have moved to the amex, they all say the same thing about maintaining the listing criteria. It is important but it is something required of every company that applies to be listed. I do not know specifically but it is probably in the event of major changes to the company structure or financials.
Thats a great question gabby. Let me ask it another way. If gtel is the same company at .26 then why does a reverse split make it more attractive at 4.00 to institutional investors? I know all about the "only able to invest in stocks at a certain price" stuff but there has to be something else to it. In this day it seems companies can manipulate their fundys (Enron, etc) such that a share price doesn't mean it is a perception of the real value. Anyone know why they have this requirement?
Lap,
That was rude of me not to introduce myself huh! I have followed from the GTEL board where I notice you have posted from time to time. Thanks for the welcome. I have been watching this forum for a few days and hope to get a better feel for the type of posts going on and contribute.
If anyone here is daytrading using margin. Think about daytrading GTEL when it hits 5.00 on 4x margin!!!! WOW!!!!
Hey doc! You still following the BKYI stock?
Anyone know why APNS jumped today? I saw no news.
Lowtrade,
I am not nervous about the GTEL r/s. I feel that we should have gone ahead to the NASDAQ though if we are doing a r/s. I felt the AMEX was great for us without having to do the r/s to get off the otc.
I knew in time our share price would have reached a level at which we could get the institutional investment anyway. I am conflicted now about whether this is the best decision. Understand that I mean the BEST for shareholders (longs and shorttimers).
In no way am I saying that this was a bad move... just wondering what if....we all know the value of this company. .15 to 1.00. What will it take to get that kind of return from a 4.00 starting point now?

vip,
You were right. I got in on the way down. I blindly bought 60 shares @11.06 ea. (663.75) on 1/26/01 (before the r/s) and sold 6 shares @29.96 ea. (179.76) on 1/05. I just started actively trading this year and I sold it because I got tired of looking at 6 shares!
My bad.... it was so long ago I must have blocked it out of my mind along with my corvis and cisco and NewPower!!!!
Thanks for your insight.
Vip,
As I have just started following this board I am getting to know the posters and their humor etc. You WERE kidding about the Ericcson reverse split right?! I got burned on that one!
rocky,
Not asking to be spoon fed but I didn't see anything other than the bid price that jumped out at me as a requirement we could not meet for an initial listing. Under standard 2 stockholders equity 30 mill. market value 18 mill.?
It's splitting hairs at this point because whats done is done. It doesn't change my opinion of the potential of this company either, I just want to understand the rationale thats all.
Jay,
Please read the previous 10 posts or so for some validation.
I believed that the Amex move was a good one but was under the impression that we were applying to the amex in part because we could qualify w/o a r/s. If we are doing a r/s why not go ahead to the NASDAQ? Maybe to much volitility there?
Anyone have an idea why the share price jump today?
I think I answered my own question. I just saw cutting corners trade go through for 200k and it looked like a "sell" on my lvl. 2 because it went through at bid.
lowtrade,
I agree the mm's are doing the down on less shares then up again thingee to shake out some shares. I just love to watch sometimes. I am interested in your opinion about something I saw. When we were at our peak thus far, PERT was at .288 bid and NITE, SCHB were .289 ask and as the momentum peaked they all sat there while "selling" volume was starting to increase over buys. My question is did PERT just absorb(accumulate) all those shares sold at .288?
I genuinely appreciate your experience and thoughts that you post about the mm's. As I see it, at least here in otc land, they are something one must try to understand their moves as we try to interpret TA also.
Great news guys!
woo hoo!
fish,
Are you waiting on some pr news?
Im watching....
Do you interpret divergences with banded osc. like you do with centered osc?
If so does anyone else see a positive divergence on doc's 14 day WM %R?
Lowtrade,
Great info. For those of us on the newer side of using TA, determining which indicators to use with which, this info will be helpful.
OT: Great chart on the other stock. You have hit the home run.
If only we could get a stable pattern on GTEL. The charts I make for GTEL show some patterns but not where I could trade with confidence. When I think I have found it, it seems to always slap me in the face.
I appreciate the time everyone spends on their charts, explanations, and the discussions.
Did you see the buy at 4:05 of 1,747,000 by UCAP? Is it possible they naked sold shares all day to get it down and made the big buy at the end to accumulate?
tech,
If you meant constant buying by the other mm's then I would agree. I'm just saying that UCAP made over 1 mill. total in sells over the course of the day. With most at 100,000 level and one at over 400,000 based on my level 2 screen. Since the other MMs were the receivers of those shares I would agree that they walked it down to get a better price on them and accumulate. Just my opinion also, not trying to be contrary! Who was the other mm you noticed?
Wow. Unfamiliar MM UCAP has been on the ASK all day. Someone must have unloaded a large block today.
On IBD website. Interesting article. Looks like another market for the stratellite. We should be selling to these cities now!
http://www.investors.com/editorial/tech.asp?v=5/3
Looks like you are going to get that filled today! I thought we weren't going go below the .231-.232 of last Fridays close.
Try clicking on the screen as if you are going to enlarge it. It worked for me. I had no audio/video first. Then after about 10 seconds (dsl) the play button was active so I clicked and got audio but no video. Then I clicked the screen and enlarged and got video. FWIW. Good luck.
The durability of the ships was a focal point of the video. Over 38 different bags for the gas. Since I am unfamiliar with current airship tech, I thought that was a great safety/durability feature. Also the tedlar covering was rubber like not flimsy at all. I was impressed with the proto.
I have followed LPLHA up to a couple of weeks ago. Why the symbol change?
NITE would use 5 decimals if they could!!!! What is this?!! .2299 gimme a break. just go to .23 already! Please gimme AMEX soon.
For those better schooled in consolidation....is this what we are seeing with the low vol. and downward bias?
Will,
Your explanation to the greenhornet in #1472 was excellent. The more detailed information that you took the time to explain (and others who have done the same) is what will make this board thrive. Newcomers will not be afraid to ask questions, get and give opinions. TA is an itimidating thing when you first begin to use it. The more practice we get in discussing what is seen in patterns and indicators the better we will all be.
BTW I noticed GNET's absence yesterday also (think I saw GNET once). I see it as a good thing as GNET is not a major player in GTEL everyday. As we increase our exposure I think we will see random mm's with larger buy orders popping in like that.
OT: When you slipped in the greenhornet joke I had a feeling you might get the random theory joke as well.
No, not messin' with Steve!!!!lol Just because I have a different opinion than low doesn't mean I don't respect his or his other observations. He posts well thought out opinions to back his charts and we all benefit from his expertise!
Hey will! I have a random theory for you:
I have to disagree with you lowtrade. The book by Steve Nison (who is imo considered the grandaddy iyw) is a classic. However it is still, for such a large book, very elementary. College, no, more like grade school. Not that it has anything to do with the quality of the info but the print is larger than it really needs to be also. You will find just as good of information at stockcharts. I began at the library and checked out as many books about TA as I could. So you don't necessarily have to buy a book. Most TA books have a section dedicated to candles.
Lowtrade and others, don't give up on candles just because what you thought was a trend did not turn out to be. Important in our conversation guys, which william points out, is that just as you take many TA indicators to make an informed decision there are also many variables or confirmations necessary to determine the strength of a trend in candles as well.
I am following also. I try to use technical analysis to determine entry points for stocks short term. I generally try to wait until a stock is in an oversold condition to buy it. We have been heading that way. I will be in soon.
boom,
They are the major mm's EVERY day. NITE sat on .213 for an eternity on Mon. a.m. when we were moving up on big vol. He has been on .24 (give or take) since 12:00. Notice the resistence level there this aft.
