My apologies in advance to those who believe that it is inappropriate to respond to the negative statements of the professional Sphere bashers, because I fully intend to continue to do so.
However I have no intention of doing it with name-calling or irate rants. I almost always try do so by using actual factual information in the form of quotes, articles, etc. that attempt to refute what the basher is saying. I say almost always because once in a while I just try to make fun of them. But those messages always get tossed.
If you think bashers are going to go away if they are not responded to, guess again. They will just become bolder and more likely to spew more nonsense. On the battlefield if one side keeps shooting and the other side never fires back but just keeps retreating, who is going to win?
This is not a game. There is real money at stake here. It is a bit of a mini war and truth is always worth fighting for.
"Let's wait 6 months and compare what YOU write with what he wrote about GW. "
First of all, what Simon Bramfitt wrote about CCPS & Sphere at the time of the article was absolutely correct. They obtained a server with GlassWare and I suppose fully intended implementation. However, as happens quite often dealing with governmental agencies, decisions get changed or delayed.
Nobody but a professional Sphere basher whould blame Simon Bramfitt for that. Also there was no problem with GlassWare. I asked them this question:
One more question. Did your GlassWare set up NOT virtualize those specialized software programs?
CCPS reply: "We have been successful with several applications. We are now in the process of assessing our virtualization needs."
As far as waiting 6 months to compare what the bashers have said about Sphere and GlassWare, that isn't necessary. All we have to do is go back to their articles and message board rants 6 months to a year ago and it is obvious they could not be more wrong.
Can you imagine 1 year ago if some IHub poster had claimed that one day Sphere would have any kind of a partnership with Microsoft let alone "one of the most important" partnerships, the bashers would have attacked that as pure nonsense. Just shows how much credibility should be given to them about anything.
"Hmmm... Bramfitt. You mean the guy that wrote all those articles about CCPS using Glassware that turned out to be fiction?"
Sorry, NOT FICTION AT ALL.
From CCPS: "I'm writing in response to your question concerning Sphere 3D's GlassWare product and our Chromebooks. We have acquired a test environment server with the GlassWare product."
What they haven't done as yet is make a final decision on which virtualization product to use with their Chromebooks. These are the problems they face so they want to be absolutely certain they make the right choice.
"As I believe you are aware, one of the challenges in implementing a non-PC environment is in supporting career and technical education classes. Many of these programs use specialized software to perform CADD, graphic design, video editing, Microsoft Office certification, etc."
They will not be making their final decision until next year.
What could be more important than this:
Brett Wilson, Microsoft Sr. Tech Evangelist:
"Microsoft believes Sphere 3D will be one of its strongest partners going forward."
The only ones who believe this is not an important statement are the same ones who still believe the earth is flat.
"There is certainly a possibility that we will go up marginally between now and then, but retail isn't going to take it there "
I guess it depends on what you mean by "up marginally". At one time the share price of this company was almost 3 times what it is now. That was without any institutional buying, with no revenues, with little to no product validation or partnerships and when it was still an OTC stock. So becoming a 3 to 5 bagger from here is certainly within the realm of possibility even without institutional interest.
So put me down for $15 per share BEFORE the big guys decide to get in and take it to the moon. OK?
Interesting that our new resident basher quotes Sun Tzu. I suppose he is also familiar with the following which could be a shorts credo:
Sun Tzu's Rules of Institutional Accumulation
A way to get something of value is to destroy the perception of its value. This can be achieved by an action opposite to the logical end.
>Buying requires selling. You have to spend money to make it. Be prepared to sell 3 shares to buy 5.
> Sell ruthlessly just when the fog begins to clear.
>Sell down to newly placed stop-loss orders after recent gains... you can trigger a selling cascade that builds downward with very little help.
>Create uncertainty about news with counter-intuitive price moves.
>Use and develop negative TA formations to add credibility to the downward pressure you are creating.
>Retailers come in surges, and fade just as quickly. In the face of overwhelming buying, yield the field... temporarily. The next day will provide opportunity to walk it back down.
>Patience patience patience. Persistent pressure breaks sentiment over time.
" How would a short hunter come up with being able to buy a lot of stock? Once the rocket is lit for a rapid price rise who will sell til a major stall comes about?"
"Shorts need to control the stock's share price over a long time (often several months to well over a year), and can't afford to just accumulate an unlimited number of short positions in the stock, so they have to be buying shares at the same time they are selling shares too. When the shorts drive the share price down, eliminating buyers as discussed above, some of those investors trying to sell their shares at that same time will follow the share price activity downward lowering their ask price.
Now the shorts can buy back some of the shares they have shorted at lower prices including some shares where longs have put stop-loss sale orders to protect against downside losses. The shorts will only buy shares part of the way back up as the share price rises, and then wait to see if new buyers come into the market. If the share price continues to rise up to much again during the day, the shorts will repeat the same selling and buying process to control the share price.
As mentioned above, the shorts need to control the share price over an extended period of time. They need to wear down the longs with rumor mongering as well as by creating fear as the longs continue to see the share price go down from the computerized trading. They hope the longs will give up and sell their shares at the lowest possible share price.
Another observation, shorts try to wear down the longs by making sure that the share price closes down as many days in a row as they can put together. At the close of each day, I witnessed volume dramatically increasing as the shorts tried to insure Herbalife's share price closed down. Shorts are hoping the longs frustration with the share price continuing downward will end up in capitulation where as many longs as possible just give up and sell their shares."

A big thank you to all who answered my questions. Well, maybe not all. I only will thank Hugo if he was calling me a genius with the sincerity in knowing the vast degree of knowledge I possess. On the other hand there is that slight chance that he was being sarcastic. Nah, that can't be so special thanks to Hugo.
"Detailed report from SV"
Who is SV?
"Msft fully vetted GW through JM."
Who is JM?
"Now I really think this is a scam. "
OK, you got us. You figured it out. This is a scam. They have NO PRODUCT. They have NO CUSTOMERS. They have NO PARTNERS. Most of the executives have spent a minimum of 10 years in prison for various frauds.
So now that you know the TRUTH it probably would be best for you to find another stock to invest in.
Since you have figured this whole thing out so quickly, having just created this identity a week ago, perhaps you can provide us with a list of your stock holdings so that we can enjoy the benefit of your expertise. Thanks.
I imagine a contributing factor in the drop in price could be from anyone crazy enough to take seriously a downgrade from Zacks. They downgraded ANY this morning from a buy to a sell. Of course they give no reason because their ratings have nothing to do with "reason". It is just something they come up with to draw people to their worthless site.
To demonstrate the silliness of it, there is a place in the message that says click here for free research report. When you click there you get a message that says: "Unfortunately that ticker is either incorrect or is one of the few stocks we don't cover with a report."
" it is owned generally by people that have no understanding of technology"
And is being partnered by people who have no understanding of technology like Microsoft.
Oh come now macnqueso. You are not really trying to imply that a Microsoft Vice President with an MBA from Wharton might actually know more than Keubiko?
That's ridiculous.
"Sphere 3D wants to use Azure as a platform."
That is correct & they are doing exactly that.
But, it appears to be much more than that. Here are some quotes from Eric Kelly at the CC:
"The Microsoft relationship is long term."
"What rolled out is Phase I"
Microsoft sees value on a Global basis."
What you see now is just the beginning."
So, what does all that mean? Since Kelly seems to be a sincere guy, most people would take it to mean that this relationship is MUCH MORE than Sphere just using the Azure platform.
And there is more. Kelly again speaking about what has happened in the last 30 days:
"When you have an alliance partner such as Microsoft and they move that fast, it kind of gives you an indication of their belief in the market opportunity with the technology and the partnership. And it wasn't just us moving fast in the last 30 days, it was our friends & partner there in Redmond moving just as fast."
Sort of gives me the impression that MSFT thinks there is something important enough there so as to want to really get going on it. But that's just me I guess. Another thing of interest is that in referencing Microsoft Kelly has used the terms "alliance partner" & "strategic alliance" several times. Here's the definition of "Strategic Alliance":
"A strategic alliance is an agreement between two or more parties to pursue a set of agreed upon objectives needed while remaining independent organizations. This form of cooperation lies between mergers and acquisitions and organic growth. Strategic alliances occurs when two or more organizations join together to pursue mutual benefits.
Partners may provide the strategic alliance with resources such as products, distribution channels, manufacturing capability, project funding, capital equipment, knowledge, expertise, or intellectual property. The alliance is a cooperation or collaboration which aims for a synergy where each partner hopes that the benefits from the alliance will be greater than those from individual efforts. The alliance often involves technology transfer (access to knowledge and expertise), economic specialization,[1] shared expenses and shared risk."
But to you all of this is "a non-event", "unimportant", "so what" stuff. One could get the idea that you might be walking around with a closed mind towards what is really going on with Sphere.
"Completely consistent with my views."
< Larry and his team work with customers, partners, startups and developers throughout the United States, to build the next generation of consumer and business applications for all businesses, running in the cloud or on premise.>
Since Mr. Orecklin and his team deal with just about every category of Microsoft involvement, I guess this would be consistent with the views of about everyone on earth.
I suppose that means that you must actually be a living, breathing, human being. Sometimes that's hard to tell.
I don't seem to be getting any answers.
Over the weekend after presenting all the excellent reviews from tech experts and the list of collaborations and deals by Sphere 3D with important corporations, I asked Ben Zhou the following question:
Are all these people wrong?
For some reason I never received an answer.
Today as one of our most prominent Sphere bashers Hugodrax came on board, I asked him the following question:
As a hedge fund manager do you believe more importance should be placed on a companies past or its future?
For some reason I never received an answer.
Maybe it was Confucius who said: He who thinks he has all the answers has probably not been asked the important questions.
Warriors are such a fun team to watch. Curry especially.
Reminds me of Steve Nash only bigger & better.
"Dumb question - how will people see that it is growing when it is actually shrinking?"
It's possible that people might see that there is a difference between what HAS happened and what WILL happen.
Let's say you were in the business of selling umbrellas in the Western states. Business has not been so good because the Western states have been suffering drought conditions for a long time. BUT, all of a sudden it becomes known and predicted by the majority of weather experts that conditions have changed and that the coming year was going to be one of the wettest on record in the Western states.
Those aware of that information might actually use it to realize that they should buy shares in your umbrella company because conditions have changed.
Smart investors might see that an important collaboration with Microsoft, a new enhanced deal with NovaRad, a partnership with the Texas Educational Service outfit, accreditation with Pearson, etc. might mean the same thing for Sphere as the prediction of plenty of rain means for your umbrella company.
As a hedge fund manager do you believe more importance should be placed on a companies past or its future?
Battle over $4. If longs win, could go to $5 very quickly especially with any news coming out of Microsoft demo's.
Possibly this is a prime example as to why some might question your pleas of neutrality. You said:
"I've heard various versions of the Dell/KenHess story, many of them unflattering to $ANY."
I suppose you could have said: "some of them were flattering to ANY", but you chose to emphasize the negative.
You also said: "In fact, I had to basically proclaim myself ignorant just to get out of the crossfire."
Sounds a bit pompous doesn't it? And one could interpret it as suggesting that you think yourself so superior as to have to dumb down to converse with the poor ignorant folks on this message board.
Since you have no interest in being either long nor short ANY, and you admittedly have not had any close experience with GlassWare 2.0 that could make you expert in its value or lack of it, my suggestion for you to prove your neutrality would be to say adios to us poor uninformed peons who are not interested in "honest communication" and go on about your daily normal business. Thanks.
If you don't want to place weight on the quotes of the CEO perhaps quotes from people who have actually tested GlassWare 2.0 and customers who have actually used it might mean something, as should the growing list of Sphere 3D partnerships & deals. Here's some of it to chew on:
Laura Didio, tech reviewer tested GlassWare and said: " it does everything it claims to do. Sphere3D Glassware 2.0 & V3 Appliances are all excellent."
Simon Bramfitt says: "both Glassware and V3 have a genuinely new take on the business of getting Windows applications (Glassware) and Windows desktops (V3) in front of end-users."
Dustin Hardin, Director of Technology of New Caney ISD, a current Glassware customer said: "We tried traditional virtualization techniques but the specific applications we needed couldn't virtualize or wouldn't scale. With our Glassware 2.0 enabled Dell(TM) server, we were able to virtualize the applications we needed and future proof our investment in Chromebooks for our students."
Paul Shumway, Senior Vice President of Novarad said: "We have tested many of today's leading virtualization technologies and have looked at a number of potential solutions; none were able to deliver the simple migration to virtualization and incredible performance that we get from the Sphere 3D approach to virtual computing. The first time we saw our products run on Glassware 2.0, we were sold."
Vibhor Kapoor, Director, Microsoft Azure Product Marketing said “By working closely with Sphere 3D, we are able to continue to deliver on that commitment and provide a new level of flexibility for organizations looking for scalable application delivery from the cloud.”
Bryan Bleil, vice president of online technology implementation at Pearson. “We welcome Glassware 2.0 into the TestNav Qualified program as a technology provider that shares our goal for enhanced learning capabilities through technology adoption.”

Who is zigzagjones?
All we know is that he is an anonymous poster who works 24/7 bashing Sphere 3D. Today he is on a Twitter binge going everywhere possible to try to bash Sphere. I hope he is being paid well because he sure is working hard.
Who is Jason Katcher. "Jason joined the NYC Google office in early 2005. After 8 years helping build out the education & careers verticals for Google's advertising business, he now leads the customer, partner and channel sales team for the largest K-12 & higher ed districts in NA. His team is responsible for helping schools embrace Apps, Chrome, Android & content in and out of the classroom. He is incredibly passionate about the impact technology can have to enhance learning & collaboration amongst students, teachers, parents & faculty. Prior to joining Google, Jason ran a recruitment advertising startup, as well as spending several years in the finance community. He is a graduate of the University of Michigan with a B.S. in Psychology."
zigzag has been pestering Jason with negative tweets about Sphere constantly. I guess you could call it stalking. But this tweet from Jason says it all:

Stocks to keep an eye on May 18, 2015
"Sphere 3D Corp. (NASDAQ:ANY) continued its bullish bias on Friday, closing the session with a gain of nearly 9% at $3.84. The bias is bullish in nearest term testing 4.12 or higher especially if price able to make a clear break and daily close above 4.06. My outlook remains Bullish. Sphere 3D Corp. on Apr. 23 announced that in collaboration with Microsoft will showcase its technologies and product solutions during a joint global partner roadshow that will be hosted at multiple Microsoft Technology Center locations. Next week could get very interesting. They have confirmed the schedule for the events at the Microsoft Technology Center in Silicon Valley/Mt. View, CA on May 20, 2015, and in New York on May 27, 2015. If momentum continues as I expect next wk, I believe there are lot of profits left on the table for traders to capitalize on."
"I was wrong.
It's way worse than I thought. The stock will take a pounding tomorrow."
If you're not too busy writing another SA hit piece, could you explain why you were so wrong about the direction of the share price following the earnings report?
How a shorts DREAM can quickly turn into their NIGHTMARE.
It looked like a perfect storm for the shorts. A small company whose shares have been attacked & manipulated by shorts & paid bashers for many months, creating doubt & negativity among even some of its most ardent supporters, annouces earnings. Revenues are less than hoped for. Losses are greater than hoped for. And on top of that the company announces a private placement of shares at 10% less than the previous days closing price.
It looked like this was going to be the shorts big triumph and the paid bashers came out in numbers to remind everyone how terrible things were for Sphere and how smart they are to hate this company.
But, a funny thing happened on the way to the end game. The company announces a big NEW deal with Novarad that could lead to BIG business with a potential of 400 Healthcare facilities. This came on top of another big deal for their educational division with a big Texas Educational Service Center covering a million students. And let's not forget the recent
LIZA Snap Scale deal. But all these pale in comparison with the way the CEO & President spoke at the Conference Call about Spheres' relationship with Microsoft. They were obviously constrained from going into specifics but it could not be more obvious that this is a HUGE partnership. They made it very clear that GlassWare can do for Microsoft what NO OTHER competing product can do. How big is that?
Now today they announce a new virtual storage system which will be introduced and demonstrated at Microsoft Technology Centers beginning May 20th. Also it should be noted that in many cases a private placement of shares to individuals knowledgeable about the company and its potential can set a solid floor for the share price.
So the end result of all this commotion is that the company has more money to use to increase its business. It has several really big revenue potentials in Microsoft, Novarad & Texas Schools. A floor has been set for the share price and at the moment the share price is at $3.58 which is exactly where it closed the day before earnings.
Other than those hedging long positions, I just cannot see the value in being short ANY except for those wanting to take a big risk in order to make a few pennies. The long case is stronger than ever.

Reseller partners interested in learning more about Sphere 3D's virtual cloud storage solutions are invited to join Sphere 3D for this exclusive event by registering at http://sphere3d.com/events/microsoft-azure/index.html.
What we know now is that the Microsoft deal is HUGE!!!!
and both the Texas school and NovaRad deals are BIG!!!
Amazing accomplishments for this little dynamo of a company.
When all the other tech companies who became giants were starting out they had to borrow money & sell shares in order to have the funds to get BIG.
I imagine the bashers back then were bad mouthing them the same way as those today are bashing Sphere.
But those early investors ended up with the last laugh and the big fortunes.
"Someone else mentioned they have everything they need to know now, and will be taking a break from the boards. Not a bad idea. Maybe I'll take the summer off and not "watch the pot"....;)"
Don't you dare.
"It's way worse than I thought."
What is worse than you thought?
This: Sphere 3D and Novarad Enter Into Master Purchase Agreement to Deliver Virtualization Capabilities to 400 Healthcare Facilities
or this: Sphere 3D Signs Strategic Alliance Agreement to Expand Digital Learning in Public Schools
or the fact that a couple of investors close to the situation were willing to spend $4M to buy shares at $3.20 because they know that's a great bargain?
or hearing that the Microsoft collaboration encompasses technology and marketing?
or now knowing that Sphere can do something for Microsoft that Dockers cannot?
or was it just the overall enthusiasm & genuine excitement from a management that knows it has a tiger by the tale.
Maybe when you sober up you will see things differently.
I suppose.
Whatever describes FULL CIRCLE.
Or a spectacular DUNK.
WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!!!!!
I was a big critic of the last conference call. It was dull, unenthusiastic, and uninformative.
This was a 360 degree change.
Congratualtions to Eric & Peter.

"That is inaccurate. It was 27.8% ($6,362 / $22,896) "
Nope, your figures are wrong.
From report: "Gross margin for the third quarter of fiscal 2014 was 32.5%"
"Net revenue for the third quarter of fiscal 2014 was $20.2 million"
Gross Profit was $6,572.
(6,572 / 20,200 = 32.5%
"Far more important than revenue is the gross margin on that revenue. For example if OVRL tarts up the revenue line by reselling hard drives in their NAS boxes at cost, it would add no value at all"
That statement just shows how tainted your analysis is. Any reasonable analysis would use previous gross margins to try to come to some more accurate estimate of future margins. In the case of OVRL, their last report was 3Q 2014. Their gross margin for that quarter was 32.5%. Using that as a basis, and your estimate for OVRL 2015 revenues of $145M, that would result in gross profit of $47.125M. Add in another $5M GP from V3 (your figures of $10M with 50% gross) and we are at $52.125M before operating expenses. It's conceivable that this would come close to break even.
The real question becomes what kind of revenue will GlassWare produce. You give it $5M. There really is no basis for that figure. I could say it will do $25M. But there would be no basis for that either. Neither of those figures have any real validity, but actually either of those figures is possible.
So it just brings us back to where we know we are at. The bashers & shorters believe GlassWare is nothing special and has little value. The longs and now quite a few tech experts & large tech companies & marketers believe it has great potential.
The funny thing is that even with your tainted toward the negative analysis, you still come up with a $3 per share value for Sphere. That would mean a potential .60 downside from here.
On the other hand if the longs are right, as I pointed out yesterday, a share price of $10, $20, $30 or more is possible.
"I think it lives or dies on Glassware"
Right on.
"Great news again! What does it take to hold even a 5% gain here on revenue growth............frustrating."
1. Anyone who says the trading in these shares is "normal" doesn't know what they are talking about.
2. Your expressions above are exactly the reaction the manipulators are striving for. They deal in fear & frustration.
3. This is not your fathers stock market. It used to be that you could do excellent research, dig deep & find small companies with huge potential and if that potential started to become realized the stock would respond with substantial gains as reward. Now the same situation requires that stock to get through a manipulative period where short sellers are able to take advantage of even small doubts that early shareholders might have.
4. Short sellers are generally smart & well heeled. More often than not they come out on top. BUT, there are instances where they blindly continue down the wrong path of trying to protect their short investment by endlessly suppressing the price of a stock artificially. In those few instances where they are wrong, absolute fortunes can be made very quickly on the long side.
5. Is ANY one of those situations. I don't know. But I do know that they have products participating in the Cloud which is the latest big thing in the tech world. Participating in the areas of virtualization, containerization & data storage provide markets where even a small market share could result in hundreds of millions or even billions of dollars of Market Cap for a company. I also know that in the extremely unlikely possibility that the company were to go belly up, the most I can lose is $3.58 a share. Whereas if the company is even moderately successful I could gain $10, $10, $30, or more per share.
So as a long we are fighting against a powerful short seller who even employs pretty smart paid bashers who seem to work 24/7 trying to create fear and doubt. However their ability to do that gets less & less as the actual facts become more & more clear. At this stage the validity of GlassWare as a valid and useful product can only be questioned through lies and misrepresentations. And that's exactly what they are now presenting. But when that is all they have left, you know that they are on the wrong side. So now is the time to be really strong. Ignore the lies and distortions and know that even though no stock is a sure thing, at this point the risk/reward so strongly favors rewards for the longs that allowing the fears & frustrations to sway you is not the wise thing to do.
I finally agree with HugoKeubiko about something. This deal definitely appears to be with the Region 4 Education Service Center in Texas. Only 2 states have Education Service Centers, Ohio & Texas. Since the PR says a Southern state, it has to be Texas. Region 4 encompasses our enthusiastic GlassWare supporter Dustin Hadin in New Caney and services about 1M students.
Now in his always deceptive paid basher way, Hugo seemed to be trying to imply that since Region 4 only has revenues of $2M per year, this deal cannot be very big. That would be a very wrong impression. The Education Service Centers revenues come from the services they provide. As far as IT solutions they say this: "Providing expert assistance to educational entities and businesses through professional development scheduling software, custom software development, and hosting services."
This is not to be confused with the amount of money each School District spends on IT. School Districts are taxing bodies and each have their own budgets. So Spheres potential revenues from this could be many, many millions of dollars per year. I imagine New Caney alone is spending many millions to institute their Chromebook program.
This could not only be a very big deal by itself, but think of the credibility it brings Sphere in relation to all the other States looking into implementing Chromebooks type programs around the country.
And how much is this worth?
Jeffrey Schwartz: "Docker isn't the only container solution Microsoft is embracing".
"the thought wouldn't be insane, like this Microsoft container rubbish."
Here's another insane pumper I guess:
"Microsoft Charts Course Toward Containers, Cloud Computing's Next Frontier
By Jeffrey Schwartz April 20, 2015
"Docker isn't the only container solution Microsoft is embracing. Sphere 3D last month said its Glassware 2.0 Microvisor can virtualize infrastructure components and the application stacks from both Windows and non-Windows-based systems and claims it can "outperform" any existing hypervisor-based infrastructure. Furthermore, Sphere 3D said it can be used for systems and cloud management, orchestration and clustering."
Jeffrey Schwartz is the editor of 1105 Media's Redmond magazine, an editor-at-large and columnist for Redmond Channel Partner magazine, and author of a blog covering enterprise cloud computing called The Schwartz Cloud Report. Earlier in his tenure with the Enterprise Computing Group of 1105 Media, he held senior editorial postions with Application Development Trends, Visual Studio Magazine and Redmond Developer News. He has covered all aspects of enterprise IT for more than two decades and has spent much of that time writing about mobile computing technology.
Yes, another actual tech expert connecting Sphere & Microsoft.
So, who to believe? The paid basher cabal of flyzag, Keubiko, Hugodrax? Or the people in the tech world like Schwartz, DiDio, Bramfitt, et al who actually know what they are talking about? Tough choice except for people who have a brain.
"I didn't say it was a good short right now. "
So based upon that I presume you are not short ANY right now.
Based upon your endless negative postings I also assume you are not long ANY right now.
So that leads to my next question. Why would someone who is neither long nor short the stock spend so much time and effort bashing it. It would make no sense unless the person was employed by a large short seller to do so. Is that the case?
