"Dumb question - how will people see that it is growing when it is actually shrinking?"

It's possible that people might see that there is a difference between what HAS happened and what WILL happen.

Let's say you were in the business of selling umbrellas in the Western states. Business has not been so good because the Western states have been suffering drought conditions for a long time. BUT, all of a sudden it becomes known and predicted by the majority of weather experts that conditions have changed and that the coming year was going to be one of the wettest on record in the Western states.

Those aware of that information might actually use it to realize that they should buy shares in your umbrella company because conditions have changed.

Smart investors might see that an important collaboration with Microsoft, a new enhanced deal with NovaRad, a partnership with the Texas Educational Service outfit, accreditation with Pearson, etc. might mean the same thing for Sphere as the prediction of plenty of rain means for your umbrella company.

As a hedge fund manager do you believe more importance should be placed on a companies past or its future?
