Why there will be an iWatch........and maybe made with Liquidmetal.

This particular patent is about a water proofing sealing process that they describe as being an interfacial layer and seal. The intimate contact provided by this interfacial layer and seal can be used for a variety of applications. The interfacial layer/alloy can function as solder mass, case sealing, electrical lead for air tight or water-proof application, rivet, bonding, fastening parts together.
The seal can also be applied to devices such as a watch or a clock.
Apple's updated trademark filing for "Apple" covered such things as precious metals and their alloys along with horological and chronometric instruments, watches, clocks," and much more. This particular patent likewise lists a watch as one of the possible products that could use their technology.

Is this my Liquidmetal iPod nano watch?

I've been traveling for my job and just now got time to read all your posts for this weekend.....good stuff, thanks.
I came across this LinkedIn profile of a Tim Breakfield, tool maker, says he works for VPC since Aug. 2011.
Found it interesting....maybe this has been posted before.
http://www.linkedin.com/pub/tim-breakfield/3a/3b6/b?_mSplash=1
It looks like Husky has a manufacturing plant here in the US........I don't think Engel does.
For Military contracts that could be important.
Steipp did not say that at all. He said hopefully by the end of the year but could not guarantee it.
These e-Mac machines were built for Apple not Visser and Chris might be right that Apple has a lock on these machines and Visser may have to wait awhile. This is at the earliest a 2013 story before Visser gets going on any production. IMHO
Agree with you....when I'm listening to Mr. Steipp I imagine him in a tall black hat and with a Cain doing a song and dance and in the background are Apple engineers in a lab somewhere in China hunched over an injection machine working long hours.
This has become a 2013 story.........not expecting much for the rest of 2012.
35 sec. Into the video they show a good photo of the unibody iPhone ridges or lines.

Those are better pics......much shallower....take back my heat sink idea.
There are thousand's of different types of heat sinks.
http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/563896561/profile_type_Aluminum_heat_sink_extruded.html
The ribbing seen in the photos could be used as a heat sink.
Surface Area:
Most heat sinks have fins and/or ridges. The fins are used to increase the surface area. The extra surface area allows more metal to come into contact with the air which allows the heat to be dissipated more quickly. This heatsink has added small ridges to the fins to further increase the surface area.
Good article on the new rumoured unibody iPhone.

I haven't ruled out #1.
Confirmation of a Sept. 12 event......
iMore reported this morning that Apple will hold its next media event on September 12th and launch the new iPhone alongside the rumored iPad mini on Friday the 21st. Another report said today that Apple is planning to launch multiple new products in September, and now AllThingsD confirms that Apple will indeed hold an event on September 12th. Although Apple hasn’t officially commented, AllThingsD’s word is pretty much considered to be a confirmation.

Thanks for your reply.....thought I had missed a press release.
I guess the negative is that there are no revenue's.
The positive is that it would imply that Apple will be using Liquidmetal in a product within the next 18 months.
Speculation on my part.......
Is this fact or speculation?
1) The extension of the TTA of the MTA as announced in the 8K recently is precisely what it says: a date change of the original capture period Aug 5, 2010 to Feb 5 2012 to Aug 5, 2010 to Feb 5, 2014; a net change of an additional 2 years. There is no new consideration, monies, royalties, however you wish to categorize it from this ammendment. The only other change is that AAPL agrees to prosecute any new patents coming forth in this extended period as before.
Denver Mattress............a Barney D Visser company.
I still think there something here......if he can make the springs out of Liquidmetal and keep the cost down he would be making the best mattress in the world. He is already manufacturing mattress's so it's an easy fit.
Denver Mattress Company is considered unique among its competitors in the bedding industry. We manufacture our mattresses in two of the busiest factories in the country, then distribute and retail our products in our own stores. Ultimately, this provides full control over how our products are made and how they are priced. And because we make them ourselves, we have control over the components and materials used to make our mattresses, using the same, or in many cases, better components than those used by most other leading brand name manufacturers. What does all this mean for you? Because we make them ourselves, and sell them in our own stores, we are able to eliminate the middleman markup, providing you with top quality sleep products for as much as 50% less than our competitors. Our mantra simply states... "More mattress. Less money.®" We're certain you'll get more for your money at Denver Mattress Company. Come in today and test rest our incredible line-up of mattresses. We know we can find just the right fit for you. www.bettersleepatnight.com
Very funny....but hey for 20 million what a deal Steipp got for LQMT. Thinking more that the nano sim card tray molded into one piece on the Liquidmetal case. This would maybe give Apple an advantage over their competitors.
Potentially a Liquidmetal product for Apple.

Here is a link to a brushed aluminum replacement back for an iphone4.

Great post.....thanks for the education.
I looked up the PE's for TIE, CRS and ATI and there average PE is around 18.
If you used 18 instead of 10 we would be looking at a PPS of closer to $5.58
What would happen if the worlds greatest chief of operations were to announce that In September that Apple would be manufacturing the new iPhone in Denver, Colorado on 100 new injection moulding machines (emac) manufactured by a new american company called VPC and the phone was made out of Liquidmetal that was two times stronger than titanium and waterproof with a fuel cell battery that lasted 30 days without a recharge.
Sorry slipped out of reality for a second......where do I get these weird ideas.......never mind.
New iPhone has started production and has a metal back.......
http://www.macrumors.com/2012/07/14/iphone-5-production-underway-for-an-expected-fall-launch/
Maybe the thing that needed to be perfected was the injection moulding machine from Engel. (e-Mac)
http://www.engelglobal.com/engel_web/global/en/media/ENGEL_Press_release_ENGEL_e-mac.pdf
Apple sold 35 million iPhones last quarter and could sell closer to 50 million in the December quarter with the new iPhone.
It would be a hugh advantage for Apple to be able to use Liquidmetal for the casing/antenna/speakers of the new iPhone over its competitors ..... whether Apple has setup that kind of manufacturing in Asia with Foxconn.....or if it's cost effective is the big question.
Something is going on but it could still be years away before Apple uses Liquidmetal.
The Engel new injection molding machine just got released and it's called the e-Mac.....nice name.

Good point about us not knowing what is going on at VPC. Mr. Visser maybe moving forward on his own projects without Mr. Steipp prototypes.
Two things that Mr. Visser could be interested in that he has a background in:
1. NASCAR/ Auto parts.
2. Mattress's (coil springs)
50 million!!!
Makes his investment in LQMT look pretty small.
Not yet....but maybe soon.
I think that's why Mr. Visser named VPC the way he did.
He invisions one day seeing his name on his car.
NASCAR # 78 written on one side "Visser Precision Cast" on the other side written "LiquiMetal Technologies" and on the hood one big Apple Logo....kind of like that.
Noticed that the colors that are used for VPC web page are the same colors that Furniture Row Racing team uses........probably doesn't mean anything.
There are a lot of small intricate and expensive parts that go into a racing engine that have to hold up to extreme conditions.
Just a thought why Mr. Visser is so interested in Liquidmetal.
Interesting.......thanks for sharing.
I didn't see this back on June 1 2012 when it was filled by Barney D. Visser.....probably an over sight on my part. Wasn't aware that VPC owns 45 million shares and Barney D. Visser owns 52 million and Nordel LLC owns 7 million....all tied either directly or indirectly to Mr. Visser.
I sure wish I knew what he thinks he knows....
VPC - VISSER Precision Cast.........I think for Mr. Visser to put his name on his new company has meaning also.

Your right only the cool kids would. LOL
I've mentioned before that I thought Apple would do a Liquidmetal iPod Nano watch.
This would be even better than I was thinking.
http://9to5mac.com/2012/07/06/apples-rumored-curved-glass-wrist-computer-mocked-up/
Completely understand your frustration....I'm not happy with some of the statements Mr. Steipp has made this year.
I've come up with three possible reasons on what maybe going on:
1. He' s a con man.
2. His statements are for the procurement dept. of these different companies and not the shareholders.
3. Crucible Intellectual Property has a legal issue with the products Liquidmetal is producing at this time.
Not a lawyer....but Apple could have a patent using Liquidmetal and they don't want it used until a certain date.
Just some thoughts......
