Matt:
Some how i just rub that board the wrong way.
If u will check my posts and the responses, you will come to the conclusion that I don't instigate "Personal Attacks" unless it start to become a bashfest.
YOu may also find that i had handeld these attacks with some forbearance and humor.
I apperciated the cut and paste news nature of that board. I've often commented that they have some smart people there.
I was hoping, with my posts, to engage that board toward more investment/shareholder talk, beyond the Rah Rah.
After all the site is called 'Investorshub'.. not 'Truebelivershub' or 'Likemindedhub'.
It seems that, for some reason, there are a great deal of 'true believers' on that thread. Maybe they are working for QCOM, or just maybe they are holding original shares and are sitting pretty.
I notice there are only a handful of regular poster there and they all say mostly the same thing.
If I 'Agitate' a little to get the "regulars" or other investors to think and post a bit beyond the "News" as to whether QCOM is an investment stock, or a daytrade, it helps me, and maybe others to make investment decisions.
That board by and large is looking at any dissention at QCOM as an attack on a sacrad cow.
If I have misunderstood the nature of this website, then I have underestimated its importance to the investing public.
Lastly, if those on that thread are not interested in my opinions, they can ignore the post.
It's not like some on that thread are not interested in my observations.
I do also post News fetures.
I was hoping for a little more than the "good'ol boys' network, however I suppose a little bit of membership cash goes a long way to get rid of subversive QCOM nay-sayers as undesirables.
matt:account suspended..why
I said out!!Not gone...
althought I have no real ax to grind regarding Q anymore.
I just don't like having gotten out by the skin of the teeth.
5 years for this puny little return was a waste of time and capitol for better investments.
QCOM will continue to get stalled by the world until the world is ready to bring it's own brand of 3G to market.
It's happening already (TI) and there is nothing Q can do about it except to pick up its Patent portfolio ball and go home.
UPDATE 2-TI seeks to expand customer base with new phone chip
Tue Nov 29, 2005 11:18 AM ET
By Sinead Carew
NEW YORK/TOKYO, Nov 29 (Reuters) - Texas Instruments Inc on Tuesday introduced a high-speed wireless chip for use by a wider set of mobile phone makers, initially in Japan and later in other markets around the world.
.
The chip is based on W-CDMA, a technology that can support features such as mobile video and Web and is gaining ground in Europe and parts of Asia. It pits TI, the top mobile phone chip maker, against rivals such as Qualcomm Inc. and Freescale Semiconductor Inc.
TI developed the chip with Japan's top mobile carrier, NTT DoCoMo Inc. Analysts expect the relationship to help TI win business with DoCoMo's suppliers.
The move into standard W-CDMA chips by TI -- currently leader in that chip market with custom-designed products -- could help reduce the price of advanced phones based on the technology, which is also called third-generation, or 3G.
"Overall, we estimate total handset cost savings can be anywhere between 10 to 30 percent," TI Vice President Alain Mutricy told a news conference in Tokyo.
The chip has a dual role of controlling wireless communication and driving multimedia functions such as still and video camera recording and video chat, resulting in substantial cost cuts for handset makers, TI said.
Yankee Group analyst John Jackson said: "This will allow the manufacturers to get 3G phones to market with the same bang but less buck."
The new product, known as the OMAPV2230, represents a move beyond the custom W-CDMA chips TI makes for major customers including Ericsson and global No. 1 phone maker Nokia, analysts said.
"Without the standard chips, they wouldn't be able to expand their market outside of their two biggest W-CDMA customers," said Will Strauss, president of research firm Forward Concepts, who sees the chip bringing new business.
For example, DoCoMo suppliers NEC Corp. and Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. Ltd.'s Panasonic plan to use the latest chip, according to a person familiar with the matter.
Strauss said potential customers could include other Japanese cell phone suppliers like Sanyo Electric Co. Ltd. and Sony Corp. Korean cell phone makers LG Electronics Inc. and Pantech Co. Ltd. and emerging Chinese phone makers such as Ningbo Bird Co. Ltd. and TCL Communication Technology Holdings Ltd.
Besides W-CDMA technology, the new chip also works on GSM and GPRS networks, which are widely deployed in Europe and Asia, helping Japanese suppliers to make handsets that can be used both at home and abroad.
Japanese second-generation mobile phone networks are based on a unique, home-grown technology, and handsets working on those networks cannot be used overseas.
TI did not name any customers, but said manufacturers were already designing phones for the new chips. It expects the first phones with the chip to go on sale in Japan next year.
About 46 million W-CDMA phones are expected to be sold in 2005 with sales expected to grow to 90 million in 2007 and about 255 million in 2010, according to Strauss.
Texas Instruments said its customers have also begun testing its OMAP2430 applications processor, designed to improve how applications such as video work on phones.
Texas Instruments shares were up 59 cents, or 1.8 percent, at $32.59 in morning New York Stock Exchange trade. (Additional reporting by Kiyoshi Takenaka in Tokyo)
WoW.just after my trade, this dog tanked...

Texas Instruments offering new phone chip for Asia

NEW YORK, Nov 28 (Reuters) - Top mobile phone chip maker Texas Instruments Inc. plans on Tuesday to introduce a high-speed wireless chip for use by a wider set of mobile handset makers, especially in advanced Asian markets
The chip is based on W-CDMA, a technology that can support features such as mobile video and Web and is gaining ground in Europe and parts of Asia. It pits TI against rivals such as Qualcomm Inc. and Freescale Semiconductor Inc.

Nasdaq short interest falls in November
Fri Nov 25, 2005 2:37 PM ET
By Jennifer Coogan
NEW YORK, Nov 25 (Reuters) - Short interest fell on the Nasdaq in November, according to information released by Nasdaq on Friday.
As of Nov. 15, the number of short-selling positions not yet closed out fell to 5.91 billion shares from 5.94 billion shares in the previous month.
Over the month ended Nov. 15, the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite Index gained 5.6 percent
Investors who sell securities "short" profit from betting stocks will fall. Short-sellers sell borrowed shares, hoping the stock price will fall so they can buy at the lower price, return the borrowed shares and pocket the difference.
Short interest in the stock market is often a gauge for the level of skepticism among investors. A rise in short interest signals more skeptics, and vice versa.
The short-interest ratio can act as a similar signal, where a high ratio is considered a bullish indicator by some investors and a low ratio bearish.
The Nasdaq's short ratio, or the average number of days it would take to cover the outstanding short positions, fell to 3.23 days from 3.31 days in October.
Nasdaq-listed companies with the largest increase in short interest in November included Microsoft Corp. (MSFT.O: Quote, Profile, Research), Cadence Design Systems Inc. (CDN.N: Quote, Profile, Research), Yahoo Inc. <YHOO.O, eBay Inc. (EBAY.O: Quote, Profile, Research) and Abgenix Inc. (ABGX.O: Quote, Profile, Research).
The five companies with the biggest decrease in short interest included Applied Materials Inc. (AMAT.O: Quote, Profile, Research), Eyetech Pharmaceuticals Inc. (EYET.O: Quote, Profile, Research), Qualcomm Inc. (QCOM.O: Quote, Profile, Research), Sun Microsystems Inc. (SUNW.O: Quote, Profile, Research) and Charter Communications Inc (CHTR.O: Quote, Profile, Research).
Nokia has got Q on the run
Man they are really selling QCOM today ha!
Like I said the situation has'nt greatly changed
from back in 2000-2001 for QCOM. They are still fighting the same ol battles on the same ol fronts.
Q's ol nemisis Error-son is even making a reprise.
Probably retribution for the ol days.
I bet Erricson feels like 'Pete Best' did when he was dumped by John,Paul, and George...in favor of Ringo.
The rest as they say...is his-tor-ee.
Q would have been better served to break off SPINCO either then or now.
The board is just too arrogant and stubborn.
I do however understand the desire to keep all Q businesses under one roof.
Lets go talk to Pete Best and ask him how it feels to be a schmuck.
So is Francisco Franco-Ah, well.
BiZ:Part II of message below
Reminds me of Preston Tucker and his constant fights with the SEC, Detroit, and the mass media.
We all know what happened to Tucker.
Great and groundbreaking technology and way ahead of its time. Could of even saved many lives too ...but everyone who's ox was about to be gored regarding the auto industry cooked Tucker right down to embers.
Sound familiar?
Same crap was tried on Howard Hughs too.
interestingly, they called Tucker's Auto prototype the "Tin Goose" They called Howard Hugh's aircraft (a prototype) "The Spruce Goose. By the way the largest aircraft ever built.
I wonder if history will call QCOM's tecnology and it's attempt to bring it to market "the CELLUar Goose". Does'nt have the same ring does it.
I suppose anything with "Goose" attached is a synonim for failure.
History teaches companies, governments and people nothing.
Burn baby burn
sorry bout the double post..I did'nt get the rest of this post in under the edit time-out.
Biz:I woud'nt be suprised if the Chinese cooked
this story up themselves for whatever perceived leverage it may bring in lowering royalty payments in the event the Chinese have to rely on Q CDMA.
These stupid stories and wacky events are sure proliferating lately.
Just like 1999-2001.
GodFather 3: "Just when I thought I was out..they pull me back in again".
Michael Corleone
I speaking of course of QCOM's seemingly unending uphill climb towards acceptance.
By the time there is world accepance of the technology, and the patent-royalty method of payment, the meaty part of the portfoilo will have expired.
We have already gone through one series of patent expirations,of which I am acromonious. I can't remember where a company, that has a patented technology, has to keep defending and fighting it's intelectual property like this.
And the same ol actors, like the "Schmoo" keep poping up witht he same ol fights.
"Vexacios Litagants"
Reminds me of Preston Tucker and his constant fights with the SEC, Detroit, and the mass media.
We all know what happened to Tucker.
I wonder why Q dos'nt spinoff the chip division(Spinco)
LIke they were planning to back in 2000-2001.
That would go a long way towards pre-empting any "Anti-Trust" ideas the gang-0-6 try to cook up.
And the shareholders get the shares of the new company.
Of course, Q could'nt add the chip division revenue to the bottom line.
They'd be able to valuate the chip division though. Maybe even sell it off eventually as they could calculate a value quickly.
This Samsung Deal should be interesting for friday's openng
That is now that there's a little more chatter going on about it.
A shorten trading session tomorrow may allow some "Sharps" to position themselves for the open on Monday.
Small volume tomorrow (Friday) could spell large swings.
This ought to be good.
This ought to be interesting.
Rich:Alrighty then
what do u mean "Us"?
u speak for no one..including yourself.
fl64:u invited me to answer u. I did.
fl64:See post#15401&15428 for your answer.
Inhibiting the discussion.Now thats funny.
It's heartening to know that I have this "Chilling" effect on an entire website.
I do indeed feel powerful, virile, and potent.
Thanks for the compliment.
or...u could just "ignore" me as I am so "Irrelevant".
Canada is US biggest trading partner.
u are dumb
646K block Buy just went through.Q buyback.
Read post 15469.All is Anwsered there
Thats the reason. It has nothing to do with technical superiority - other-wise QCOM would be the dominant world-wide cell phone technology, QCOM stock would be at $200, and I would be but a memory on this board!
BUt alas..u don't understand european polotics, jelousies or grudges.
What can I say.
First I'm a Lieutenant.NOw I'm a "Captain"..
wow.. promoted a whole grade in rank in the space of an hour.
what a country...
How schizophrenic.
"2nd Lieutnant to Punkin"
"Captin Obvious"
lol
And Biz...u say I don't have a sense of humor.
well..at least that some.
The good part is I don't have to work. And I'm I still have the energy to enjoy that.
Some of my phylosophy is "There are 2 types of people in this world...those that work...and those who let them".
Which are u
yes.the exclusion of QCOM in Europe by NOK.
over the last 15 years.
Did u think this exclusion was a mistake...or by design??
Need I say more??
"Stir the Pot"thats what it should be.
Otherwise...all u get is uni-minded drones.
Biz:u have tried to stick it to me...
every opportunity you got.
If someone whomps me one time...well as they say..."By-gones".
But your systematic dunning by u and your "Cabol" in this forum cannot be ignored.
If u whomp me, I'll whomp u back.
If you are nice..I'm nice back.
Do you see how that works??
Or are you so "Bereft" of a sense of community and fair play?
As far as pointing out shortcomings in others..the only shortcoming I've ever acknowledged in this forum is that of QCOM, which is plenty short.
Unless u can prove it other-wise (Instigations by u and your cabal exempted) you may want to school yerself.
I seem to remember that u and i bought the Q way high and that I was somewhat sypathetic to that regarding you.
You twisted the "sympathetic" into "pathetic" insinuating that i was somehow glomming on.
It would seem to anyone that you have reach an untenable position if you insist on being a verbal pyromaniac and then start crying when you set yourself on fire.
Regarding Profit...
I don't know of anyone who dos'nt crack a smile when their ship comes in. Mine does daily.
Regarding Misery..
If my life is miserable...I'll take two...and keep um coming if you please.
From your post my conclusion is you are looking into a mirror.
When u point your finger at someone...theres 3 pointing right back at u (if u understand the metaphore).
Listen...regarding the abovemetioned mirror...normally its 7 years bad luck to break it, but just this one I'll make an exception.
Happy thanksgiving
God Bless you and everyone else
BiZ:The only laughing I do...
is all the way to the bank.
at sometimes at you....ROTF
P.S. I'm comfortable. Not stinking.
But I'm working on the "Stinking" part.
I'll let u know how it goes.
Read post 15456.All questions are answered..
at least to my satifaction.
BY the way..I'm also good looking to boot.
Rich-Rich-Rich.Still trying to prove something.
Brother...in this life it's not what u know...it's who u are, who u know, and how u apply what u know.
Smart guys like u are a dime a dozen on this board.
There's nothing wrong with that
I've even said as much.
There is a huge pool of CDMA "wise-guys" here and that's very good.
I just don't hear enough investment talk regarding QCOM.
I've tried to instigate it for the longest time.
I know u keep trying to beat me Rich, and u just can't seem to pull it off, so I guess you'll just have to keep beating yourself.
who's to say I'm not??...
u make sum tall assumptions.
if the EU cares to listen to it...
Which it will not.
And the Chinese will say:NO so Joe...
U think Europe is stubborn...
Wait till Q gets a load of the Chinese "3 card Monte"
ha!
