Just experienced my first hurricane/tropical storm- started about 5:30 a.m.:This was the pic as we (the blue dot) were just about to enter the "eye" such that it was. After more thought (and Googling), not to mention the bullshit the U.S. gov't has pulled on its own people the past couple of years, I've come to the conclusion that it would NOT be out of the realm of possibility that the U.S. might've been involved. Snippet from an ABC News article yesterday:

That's a fair analogy... although I would also mention that in options, there is a price to be paid for the time frame. Unlike in cards, the longer you stare at your hand has no bearing on the amount you need to call the current raise/pot. In options, there is a steady erosion of price based on time remaining and therefore DOES affect your risk/reward ratio.

like me watching card flow and knowing the range of my initial 2 card hand prior and betting accordingly but with even money and 3-2 at best for a pay off.

And, I see now that those same $22.50s are up to almost 0.70 ($2.38/share/contract )so had we bought those contracts yesterday, we could sell them right now for a cool $1400... Not bad for an overnight hold eh?

In "casino" parlance, yes... although you'll pay X amount for the commission on the sell too. (That gets paid both in and out) but for illustrative purposes- yes.

Now, IF you were to have bought those same 20 contracts BUT instead of the OCT 15 $45.00 Strike you bought the OCT 15 $22.50 Strike yesterday, you would've paid $1.70 (instead of $0.15) per share for a total of $3400. BIG difference in cost right? You control the same number of shares (2000) However, the difference is that today, you're playing much closer to the money and the share price rose to 22.70ish which is 0.20 above the Strike price of $22.50 The contracts, however, are trading $030/share higher than yesterday @ $2.00 ish meaning you could sell those ITM (in the money) Calls today that you bought yesterday for a $1.70 and get $2+ for a $0.30 profit/share or $30 per contract for a total of $600 profit $0.30 X 2000 shares {20 contracts} = $600(minus vig/commission) without waiting for news or some other catalyst.

When you buy ITM (in the money) Calls, you play "safer" although you pay more to control the same number of shares and the prices tend to be much more aligned with the PPS movement whereas, you're relying on big price moves in OTM (out of the money) options but your cost risk is MUCH less.

Assuming I were to get all 20 contracts (so far only 8), my cost would be $300 (plus commission). My profit potential is based on whether or not ATOMERA announces news. That far out of the money makes this a lotto bet. If news hits before expiration, because I now control 2000 shares (20 contracts), I would essentially reap $2000 for every dollar above $45 the share price rises. Make sense?
